Land and Sea arc Episode nine: Despairing Revelations
At the Twin Flame Island hospital, F.M. and Marshall were running down a hallway on the third floor in desperation as Snow, Chase, Everest, and Charm followed from behind. The others wanted to check on her too, but they knew this was primarily about F.M. and Marshall. Once they got there, F.M. burst into the room and ran over to Wave and Margareth with Marshall. Her cry for Wave made it clear how much this affected her. "MOM!" F.M. and Marshall hugged Wave since she was already sitting up, devastated by how weak she was when they got there.
F.M. and Marshall pulled Wave away as F.M. expressed how worried she was about her. "Thank God you're still here." The way F.M. was talking made it clear this was a mixture of emotions she didn't show often: A side of fear and sadness wrapped into one. "When Margareth called, I was so scared! You're here, and dying, and... it hurts!"
Marshall put a paw on F.M.'s shoulder to help her calm down, despite being almost as emotional as her. Someone had to give Wave the rest of the context. "We came here as fast as we could. We hope it's okay that Snow, Chase, and Everest came for support. Charm had his own reason for coming that he hasn't explained yet."
F.M. signaled Charm to come on over, which he did as Wave assured them everything was okay. "I could never be upset at the sight of more company." Wave coughed into her arm, and she ended up letting out a bit of blood, which scared all three of her children on sight. She took Charm's paw and smiled to him, knowing why he joined F.M. and Marshall for this visit. Just by looking at him, she could tell how much progress he's made. "Your hard work is paying off Charm. You'll be a good Canine in no time."
Snow had some words about that, but knew now wasn't the time to express them. Marshall didn't want Wave talking too much after seeing her cough blood, so she looked to Margareth for an analysis on her condition. "What did the doctor's say? Did they find what's happening with her?"
"They did. As soon as we got here no less." Margareth answered, bringing up some context that caught Charm's attention. "Apparently, she has poison slowly creeping through her veins, all the way to her heart." The next part of what Margareth said did that even more so. "They said she must've drank it without realizing it."
That shocked Charm to no end, as he then had a flashback for when he offered Wave the rest of his 'potion'. Putting two and two together, he expressed immense concern and guilt when addressing this to Wave. "Wave? I think that potion I crafted last week was actually poison." That caught everyone except for Wave off guard, as Wave came to that conclusion herself upon remembering when Charm mentioned Miranda. "I'm so sorry Wave. I should've seen this coming."
F.M. wanted to know more, turning Charm towards her as she asked him about the potion. "What was used in the potion?"
"Island Life Roots, Habitat Sap, and Fire Poison." Charm explained, and that last part was the one that alerted F.M. and Marshall the most.
Margareth had some knowledge on fire poison she felt was worth sharing with Charm. "Fire poison is the strongest of all poison. The fire from it must've overpowered any possible effects from the other ingredients."
Charm was stunned that he didn't realize that, and Chase came to a conclusion that he felt would benefit everyone. "Come on guys. Let's leave F.M. and Marshall here with Wave and Margareth."
"Good call Chase." Snow walked over to F.M. and kissed her, as did Everest for Marshall, and Snow took Charm's paw with some questions for him. "I have some questions in mind myself."
F.M. nuzzled Snow lovingly, and Everest took Marshall's paws before showing empathy once again. "We'll be in the waiting room if you need us Mar Mar. It's okay to leave the room if you need it." Marshall nodded in understanding, allowing their allies to leave the room. Charm looked back remorsefully at the Munroe family, who all got ready to spend their last moments together as a family before Wave passed on.
Snow, Chase, Everest, and Charm were returning to the waiting room, and Ryder was the first to speak up about the situation. "I'd ask how Wave is doing, or how F.M. and Marshall are taking this... but I think I can guess that on my own."
"Yeah. It's not good. At all." Snow admitted, and she then shared them the information she had without mentioning Charm. "The doctors said she unknowingly drank poison that took a long time to course through her veins. From the way she looked, the poison is in it's final stage."
Rocky noticed Charm's remorse driven look and arm squeezing, walking up to him as he asked him about this as softly, but directly, as he could. "Was this... poison, what you originally thought was the potion to cure your demon blood?"
Charm nodded his head yes with Snow declaring her first question answered. "At least we know why you crafted it in the first place." She had some more questions though, going into detective mode as she asked Charm another question. "You couldn't have gotten the list of ingredients on your own. How did you come across the recipe?"
Claw gained a look of realization about crucial information regarding the potion, which Chase noticed when looking at him. "What is it Claw? Do you know something?"
Claw didn't want to get Coral in trouble, but he knew this couldn't be left in the dark. Shaking his head to focus, and putting his feelings for Coral aside, he stood up and stated what he knew. "Yes. The recipe. It came from Coral."
"Coral!?" Skye exclaimed, standing up herself and joining them in disbelief over what she just heard. "Do you think she knew it was poison?"
"We can't say for certain Skye." Claw admitted, not knowing anything behind how Charm got the recipe, and that he crafted the potion. "The only way we'll know for sure is to ask her directly."
Chase decided that now was a good time to bring something else to Skye's attention. "Skye. You should know that yesterday, I overheard Coral having a call from Eveline. She mentioned something about... not wanting F.M. and Marshall to get hurt."
Skye was shocked by that news, but it was much easier for her to believe than the evidence she was given before. Eveline made her opinion on F.M. clear from the very start. Coral obviously wouldn't want her to have even worse treatment from Eveline than she already did. "Do you... do you think I should call her?"
"Yes, but just so we can get her side." Chase answered, knowing how important this was to figure out. "We can't just assume she knew what she was doing."
Snow took Skye's paw and reminded her of the pups who were hurting right now. "I know it's hard Skye, but F.M. and Marshall are hurting right now. They need closure." Skye saw Snow's point, especially when Snow tried to hold in her tears of sadness for Wave. "Please. Help us give it to them."
Skye looked at her phone and opened up her contacts before gulping. She really didn't want to do this, but she couldn't let her desires ignore her judgement any more. She called Coral, putting the phone up to her ear and signaling everyone else to stay quiet. Charm and Rocky went over to Moby and Zuma to sit down next to them, and Zuma held Rocky's paw as the three checked on Charm. Chase and Snow went over to the entrance, waiting there for when Skye was ready. Once Coral picked up, Skye heard her genuinely cheerful voice. "Hey Skye! How's it going?"
"Not so well Coral." Skye admitted, getting right to the point with her concerned look showing that this brought her a decent amount of displeasure. Still, she knew she had to do this. For F.M. and Marshall. "We need to talk."
F.M. and her family were still talking in Wave's hospital room, and F.M. was talking about some happy times with Wave in an attempt to stay optimistic about this. "I was almost surprised when you let me stay in Adventure Bay. I was half convinced you were gonna tell me to come back home."
Wave laughed a bit at that memory, even though it hurt her a little. F.M., Marshall, and Margareth couldn't help growing sadder each time she hurt. "I almost did. Especially after I heard you rushed in to save that Alex boy." Wave smiled widely when she addressed why she didn't. "And then I remembered... you're just like your father."
F.M. smiled at that, but it was brief, as she still had Wave's slowly dying body on her mind. She had to know how much time she had left. "How much longer do you have until the poison finishes it's job?"
"Four hours." Wave answered, trying to maintain some optimism herself as she made a final request to F.M.. "I'm sorry to request this so soon... but I'd love for my last meal to be your cooking. You always put as much love as you had into your food."
F.M. was more than happy to accept, looking at the clock and seeing that it was 9:30 at that time. Since they had until 1:30, she decided to time it accordingly. "I'll get started as soon as the eleven o clock hour hits!"
Wave was overjoyed to hear that, and Marshall brought up something else to make her mother proud. "Mom, I um... I don't know if this is a good time or not, but I made some more progress on my studies." Wave looked to Marshall, who pulled out a book and showed her the page he was on. "I can specialize in more than one field if I want to. I'm thinking that alongside Oncology, I can study something like neruology or psychiatry."
"That's wonderful Marshy! Just remember not to take on more than you can handle." Marshall nodded his head yes in response, glad that even near death, Wave was looking out for him. Wave then looked to Margareth, who hadn't said much after F.M. and Marshall arrived. "And Wave. You said school was going well?"
"Oh yeah, school's going great." Margareth answered, showing F.M. and Marshall pin she got from the college she attends. "I finally joined the baseball team! Turns out the captain was just taught a lot of crap by his parents. Glad I managed to prove him wrong."
F.M. and Marshall hugged their sister out of proudness for her, and the three of them then hugged Wave again. The four of them were doing their best to stay strong, and for now at least, it was easy. All Wave really wanted was to speak to her children like she always did. It was easy for them to talk about their lives, past events, and stuff they did in the past. Even though they couldn't ignore the pain Wave was going through, the fact that they could still enjoy their time together meant the world to them. Just like they all meant the world to each other.
Skye was waiting for Coral by the Twin Flame Island dock, and Chase and Snow were there to reassure her that they were there for her. Chase was the first to speak up, reminding Skye that he was there for her. "We're here for you if the worst case scenario is true Skye. You won't go through that kind of revelation alone."
Snow backed that statement up once she saw Coral swimming up to the dock. Her statement was in regards to the fact that Skye was being used by Coral. "We can also help you get answers if we feel she's lying."
"Lying about what?" Coral asked once she climbed up to the dock, revealing herself to the three pups before noticing their expressions. Snow's was of mistrust, Chase's was of pleading for Coral to do the right thing, and Skye's was of pure worry of what could happen. This made Coral worried herself. "Did something really bad happen to one of your friends?"
"...Something like that."
Skye's response was followed up with her walking directly in front of Coral, who brought up what Skye said before she came. "I'm guessing what you wanted to talk about is... bad?"
"I wish it wasn't." Skye admitted, struggling to say the words herself right away. The thought of what this would reveal just ate her up inside. She couldn't bare the thought of Coral having actually been using her to help Eveline. Still; she couldn't let that stop her. So she got right to the point with her question. "Claw said that Charm got a recipe for poison from you, and that you told him it was a potion to cure his demon blood." Coral flinched, and that told Snow that Coral was guilty. But she wanted to give her a chance to confess herself. "What do you know about this?"
Coral wasn't sure how to answer at first, not even after seeing Chase and Snow behind Skye. "I... um..." She wanted to tell her the truth, but she didn't want to lose Skye, or let Eviline down. But after remembering her talks with Chase and Snow, she realized they were right. She couldn't hide this any longer. "The truth is... Eveline had me use my connection with you, to take Claw out... so we could get close to F.M. and Marshall's family."
This broke Skye's heart in an instant. She felt like bawling her eyes out right there. She finally reunited with her long lost cousin, and she used her to help her Queen. Chase and Coral noticed Snow tensing up, and she clenched her fist for a moment, before letting go. As established, Snow haded liars, and deception. Chase put a paw on her shoulder to calm her down, and his expression showed concern for Skye. Skye wasn't done yet. She had to know more. "How long was this going on for?"
Coral tried to contain herself, being as heartbroken as Skye in this moment. "Since we got Moby out of PupLantis last month. Eveline told me to ignore your calls so we could enact the plan."
Skye's emotions were skyrocketing in this moment. She didn't want to believe this was true. Hearing Coral confirm her fears just... hurt her. She had no idea how to react beyond pure sadness and betrayal. "So this was all a mission to you?"
"No! I did want us to be close again!" Coral answered instantly, not wanting Skye to think she devalued her company. "Eveline said this would help everyone in PupLantis; not just me and her! It could help you too!"
"How is killing the mother of two close friends of mine going to make it better for any of us!?" Coral was stumped by Skye's question. She had no idea this would risk hurting someone outside of the Paw Patrol. It brought further question to her regarding Eveline. "F.M. and Marshall's mother is dying Coral. She drank some of the poison from that same recipe. Who knows how long she has left?" Coral felt horrible for that, and even worse when Skye made a hard call when looking away in sadness. "You don't have to go back to PupLantis, but... I think it'd be best if you left."
Coral didn't want to lose Skye again, nor did she want to avoid making this right. "I want to apologize to F.M. and Marshall."
Skye lifted her paw, which at first startled Coral, who flinched in fear that Skye was going to hit her. Snow recognized that reaction, and it broke her heart. She sensed that Coral was physically abused too. Skye surprised Coral by placing a paw on her shoulder. When Coral opened her eyes, she saw Skye looking at her with caring, if disappointed eyes. "They just got the news last night. They've barely had time to let it settle in. They need time. And I do too."
Coral saw Skye's point, accepting that Skye needed some space. "I understand. And... I'm sorry." After that, she walked to the edge of the dock and jumped into the water, knowing that arguing wouldn't help.
As Coral swam back to PupLantis, Chase and Snow walked over to Skye to comfort her. Skye also addressed one big mistake on her end. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you guys. Or F.M.."
"I was never angry Skye." Snow admitted, despite Skye holding her paw to show she wasn't upset about that. "I just hated seeing you being used like that."
Skye winced in sadness in response to that before bringing up one more detail about what they tried to tell her. "You said you think Eveline is using her too?"
"That's why I don't hate her after what she did. In a way, I understand her situation." Snow reminded Skye before wishing she brought that up to Coral sooner. "Maybe if I open up to Coral about my situation, she'll open up about her own."
"If we stay in contact with her, you'll get another chance." Chase suggested, and Snow let that advice think in as Chase gave Skye some reassuring words to let Skye on something else she wanted. "I'm willing to help her if you are." Skye started crying harder and hugged Chase, who wrapped his arms around her as Snow patted her back for support. The two of them knew Skye needed to let this out, and they would be there for her the whole time.
It was now an early lunchtime for F.M. and her family, and F.M. came in with a tray of food she cooked; with the hospital's permission of course. She was delighted to get to cook one last time for her mother, even though she was still devastated about losing her later that day. "Say hello to my specialty! Bacon cheeseburgers with mushrooms, a side of potato wedges, and toppings given to all of our burgers according to specific tastes!"
Marshall, Margareth, and Wave accepted their burgers, and F.M. helped Wave grab hers so she didn't have to stand up. "Thank you sweetie." Wave took her first bite of her burger, and it tasted as amazing as all of F.M.'s other meals did. F.M. still had the spirit in her to produce a phenomenal meal, and that was made clear in Wave's reaction. "The fact that this is my last meal is saddening." Even if the start, along with Wave's tears, were a little worrying. She then confirmed they were tears of joy however. "But as a last meal... I wouldn't change a thing."
F.M. was ecstatic to find that she was able to give her mother a good last meal. Margareth praised F.M. for this accomplishment, wanting to help her keep her spirits up. "As always, you did incredible F.M.. You never fail to make our mouths drool."
"That's assuming no one finds eating to be a drooling experience." Marshall joked, making his family laugh at the bad pun, only for Wave to cough a bit of blood again. Marshall felt awful for causing this and quickly apologized. "I'm sorry mom. I shouldn't be making you laugh right now."
"Nonsense Marshall. I'm glad I got to hear one last pun from you." Wave assured Marshall, coughing again with F.M., Marshall, and Margareth still feeling horrible about her condition. They all found it incredibly hard to keep it together.
Back in the waiting room, Snow, Chase, and Skye were still out, and everyone else was sitting their contemplating the situation with Charm writing in his journal. He still couldn't shake off the remorse he had for unknowingly assisting in Wave's inevitable death eating him up. Moby got a good look at one of the entries after Charm showed him, seeing that he was curious. One quote in particular spoke to him. It was the words F.M. gave to him last month. "One act of kindness, shows who you can be. But consistent kindness, shows who you are."
Charm looked back on when F.M. said that to him when he told Moby about it. "F.M. said that to me after we got you out of PupLantis." What Charm said next also caught the attention of Rocky and Zuma, the former of whom also heard that quote. "I just realized it works both ways." Moby was curious about that, and Charm was more than ready to elaborate. "Consistent acts of cruelty can also show that you're a bad person. Or... trying to do good, and you end up doing bad instead."
Rocky took Charm's paw as he tried to assure him that he wasn't to blame for this. "You didn't know it was poison Charm."
"And what good does that do now Rocky?" Charm asked, pulling his paw away from his as he reminded him of all the details. "Coral didn't force my decision to come to Twin Flame Island, it was me. The one who crafted that poison, thinking it was a potion, was me. The one who let Wave take a sip was me!" Charm could barely contain himself, almost shouting as he stood up and reminded Rocky of who he was before. "I haven't changed at all Rocky! I'm still a life ruining pup who causes suffering and misery to every good hearted being he interacts with!"
Rocky stood up and grabbed Charm's shoulders, not caring that everyone else was looking at them now. "You were tricked Charm! You can't help being tricked! You aren't to blame for Eveline's actions!"
"Tell that to your mourning friends down the hall." Charm responded sadly, being fully convinced that Wave's soon to be death was his fault. He walked off as he expressed what he thought F.M. and Marshall interpreted this as. "Their interpretation might be more complicated than that."
After Charm left the hospital, Rocky stopped Moby from going after him, despite his concern. Zuma explained why when he looked past Rocky to look right at Moby. "When Chawm gets like this, it's best to let him cool off before comfowting him."
"Oh. Okay." Moby responded, sitting back down and looking out the window to find Charm walking in the direction of the dock. He was worried about him, but he didn't know what to say about what was going on. He just hoped he would be able to help Charm, and maybe even F.M. and Marshall, recover from this later down the line.
Snow, Chase, and Skye were still sitting at the dock with Skye looking at the bandana she pulled out last week after Chase warned her about Coral. She was about to ask about it, but Charm's voice from behind stopped her from doing so. "So did Coral know the recipe was for poison?"
Snow, Chase, and Skye looked back to see Charm walking over to them. Chase spoke up, knowing he would be the best to explain it. "She all but outright stated it."
"And she doesn't need to be reminded of additional context right now." Snow informed Charm, only to then notice a hint of remorse in his expression. She lowered the hostility a bit, deciding to let Charm speak. "Unless of course, you have something to say that won't break her down."
"If she lets me say it." Charm stated, stepping closer to kneel down to Skye and request she turned around. "It'd be great if you could face me for this Skye." Skye turned around with Snow keeping her guard up in case Charm tried anything. She didn't want to blindly assume anything, but she still didn't like Charm, let alone trust him. Chase nodded to Skye yo let her know she was safe. What Charm said next in a misguided attempt at comfort was surprising to all three of them. "You're lucky Skye."
This puzzled Chase and Skye, and started to annoy Snow, unaware of what exactly Charm was getting at. "'Lucky'? Woooow; I never would've thought of that Charm. Not everyone gets the pleasure of having a loved one use them to help a Transphobic dictator!"
"I mean she found out quickly enough to stop herself from going off the grid!" Charm stated, stunning Snow as she remembered that it took Charm seven years to learn of his father and Trickery using him. Charm elaborated when he looked at Skye. "It took me years to learn of my demon blood Skye. I spent seven years thinking my father and Trickery did what they did to keep me alive." Charm shook his head away from those memories before stating more. "You only spent one month alone in the dark."
Skye started to realize how Charm felt when he realized that he was being used. She allowed Charm to continue, feeling he had more to say. "You even have a support group that tried to warn you. You have others who care about you. You can fall back on them." Charm tried to contain himself, but the three Canines could tell he was starting to get emotional. "You have every right to be angry or sad about what Coral did. But you have as much right to be happy that you didn't lose yourself. Not like me."
Skye could see clearly that Charm was speaking from the heart, walking up to him and looking right at him in an attempt to show empathy. She was one of the pups who was struggling to forgive him, but she started to find that much easier now. Because now she could emphasize with his pain from being used. "You must have felt so alone after reading Slash's journal."
"More than anyone can ever know. That's why I said you're lucky." Charm explained as he turned around, stating one more thing Skye was lucky about in his eyes. "You didn't become someone the world would be better off without." Chase and Snow knew exactly what that was about, and Charm saying that struck a cord with both of them. Skye didn't feel that same cord strike, but she did feel like she could see more about Charm now. She was still hurting greatly from what Coral did to her, but she could see a part of Charm that was hidden from even him for so long.
A lost pup who never had proper guidance or comfort.
In Wave's hospital room, F.M. and the rest of her family were still staying strong for what was coming up in the next few minutes. Wave had something heavy on her mind that whole time, something she had to get off of her chest. She had to tell her children about it before it was too late. "F.M.. Marshall. Margareth." The three Dalmatians went over to their mother, who sat up to address all three of them equally. She didn't miss a beat with this moment, knowing she couldn't waste any time in telling them the truth. "It's time you learned how your father died."
F.M., Marshall, and Margareth were shocked by this, and Marshall quickly let F.M. know that he didn't have to hear this. "F.M... if this sounds too emotional for you, you can-"
"No." F.M. assured Marshall, not wanting to rob his one chance to learn the truth. "If she wants to tell all of us, then she deserves to tell all of us." Marshall took F.M.'s paw just in case, remaining as protective as he could before they all heard the truth. "I think that's the best closure we can give her."
Margareth took her mother's right paw, allowing Wave to get started on the story of how Blaze died. "I know this must have been hard for you mom. We're all here for you."
Wave smiled with a nod, showing that she knew that right from the start. She didn't waste any time in getting started with this story. "This happened about three months after we started to conceive you F.M.." F.M. paid extra close attention to these details, feeling that her birth had something to do with this story after that was said. Wave continued once she knew all three of her children were comfortable with hearing this story. "It was a hard pregnancy. And you had a low chance at surviving."
A series of flashbacks began, the first one being of the day Blaze and Wave received this news. Wave spoke over the scenes to explain what was happening, and the flashback showed both parents looking devastated. "Your father and I were devastated upon hearing this news. We didn't know how to take it if you passed on before being given a chance at life." Blaze hugged Wave, who started crying silently over hearing this news. "I'd love to say that we made the right call. But I can't. Because I did something that led to a former friend enacting her revenge."
The next flashback showed Wave speaking to Miranda in the woods as she stated what she did. "Miranda came to me for help. And I listened to her. I should've seen her horrible deed coming."
Wave spoke in the flashback with a pleading expression that showed her desperation to save her child. "And you're certain this will save my child?"
"Positive." Miranda lied, getting the poisonous air ready as she got ready to use it on her former friend. "Trust me."
"I shouldn't have trusted her." Wave spoke in the present, despite flashback Wave smiling with relief over how her child would be save after this. "She actually planned to kill me, along with you."
Blaze rushed in and pushed Wave out of the way just as Miranda led a poisonous air wave towards his wife. "WAVE!"
Blaze ended up getting hit by the air wave, which suddenly made him weaker. Wave was horrified when she looked at him and saw the sick look in his eyes. When he fell to his knees and started coughing, Wave ran up to Blaze in horror. "BLAZE!"
The horror and guilt in Wave's eyes surrounded her as Miranda laughed over how this went. "Even better!"
Wave clenched her fist and glared at Miranda, calling her out for her deception. "You said this would help my baby survive!"
"And you blindly believed me?" Miranda shot back, turning around and walking away with her job having been made. "Get it through your thick skull Wave. Your friend is gone! And Blaze will be too! One day after his child is set for birth! If it lives that is!" As Miranda walked off with her scorpion army, Wave looked into Blaze's eyes with fear surrounding every bit of them. Blaze held her paws and gave her the most loving eyes he could muster. Even with the mistake she made that would later cost him his life, he only had eternal love for his loving wife.
Wave spoke in the present again, explaining what happened as the second flashback ended. "Your father sacrificed himself to save me, and Miranda set his death to come one day after you were born." The third flashback showed Blaze and Wave being handed their child, who at the time, was a young baby Dalmatian boy named Flare. "By some miracle, you survived, and we were given another beautiful baby." Wave chuckled a bit before acknowledging F.M.'s determination. "Even before birth... you never gave up."
The flashback ended with F.M., Marshall, and Margareth being heartbroken by this story; and F.M. was left especially devastated after hearing it. So many questions popped into her mind upon hearing this revelation. Why did Miranda want so badly to hurt her parents? Why was Miranda so dismissing of Blaze's attempts to help her? Would Blaze had survived if she ended up not being born? She started with the one she knew Wave could answer. "Is... is that why you wanted us to stay away from Miranda?"
"Yes." Wave answered honestly, explaining what happened to Miranda so long ago. "Miranda lost the one closest to her twenty years ago. And it drove her to insanity." Wave tried to hold back her tears, as did her children, when she explained what happened. "One month after your father came to Twin Flame Island, Slash's army came to recruit us. A week before then, your father warned us about the attack and helped us prepare. But sadly, that day taught us that you can never save anyone. And one of the Canines who died was Miranda's husband. Tucker."
Wave coughed up blood again, leading to F.M. taking her other free paw with Marshall placing a paw on her side gently. "She became bitter, and hateful after that day. She isolated herself from Twin Flame Island after your father decided to stay, despite his efforts to help." Wave had another flashback to when Blaze texted her a photo of food he placed by Miranda's cave so she didn't starve. "He did everything he knew he could do. But it was never enough to help her reach out."
The flashback ended with Wave crying as her emotions started to overwhelm her. Her current state made it hard for her to shout, but her sadness couldn't be denied. "If I hadn't trusted her... we could have all continued living our lives with Blaze."
F.M. had so many questions, and almost broke down, but she managed to ask a question that she hoped wouldn't make her sound selfish She just wanted confirmation. "When Snow and I were repairing her device to find Everest, Miranda helped us without question. Do you think that's a sign that... she can still be helped?"
That surprised F.M.'s family, but Wave expressed her point of view honesty, as much as she wanted to give F.M. hope. "I'm sorry F.M.. Sometimes, the pain someone feels is too strong for them to move on." Wave could tell F.M. didn't understand, but smiled in response to her incredible desire to help others. Wave continued crying, but she stayed strong for her children by telling them the rest of what they needed to hear. "I won't be here for much longer. But I want you all to stay strong. Not for me, but for yourself. For your friends. For everyone."
F.M. started breaking down, being more heartbroken over the thought of losing her mother than Marshall and Margareth were. F.M. never got to know Blaze, so Wave was the only parent she ever had. She wasn't ready to let her go. But she didn't have a choice. "It's not fair mom! You don't deserve to die like this! And... I don't want to lose you!" Marshall wiped F.M.'s tears, despite shedding several himself. "I need you!"
"I'm sorry F.M.. If I could, I'd continue giving you all the love I could until you all passed on." Wave responded, giving some final words to all of her children to give them a final dosage of love and comfort. She started with Margareth. "Margareth. You've been an amazing daughter, and an amazing older sibling. I'm sorry I couldn't see you become a professional." She then addressed Marshall after wiping Margareth's tears, which kept flowing heavily. "Marshall. You're so protective, loving, and ambitious. I'm sorry I had to go before you became a doctor."
Marshall closed his eyes and clenched his paws, and Wave wiped her tears as well before addressing F.M.. "F.M.. The love, determination, and desire to bring joy to everyone you meet... is inspiring." F.M. was already breaking down, and hearing her mother give her encouraging and loving words one last time amplified just how much she was going to miss her. "I'm sorry I couldn't be here to see you discover your new name."
Wave looked at her children one last time while laying down with seven final words to show her eternal love for her family upon closing her eyes, and F.M. snuck in one final hug. "Goodbye my children. I love you all."
Beep... Beep... Beeeeeeeeeeee...
F.M., Marshall, and Margareth all broke down upon hearing the flat line. They all took the time to embrace their mother as lovingly as possible. Margareth embraced the paw she was holding and held it close to her forehead for comfort. Marshall laid his head on Wave's side, his tears streaming down his face, as well as her side. And F.M. was still hugging her mother, unable to let go. She was taking this the hardest out of all of them. And after learning that Wave's pregnancy with her was hard... she only had one thought on her mind, as irrational as it was.
Ever since birth... she was hurting people.
Somber music played as F.M. started speaking in regards to what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "At least we get to say one final goodbye to mom... at her funeral. I still can't believe she's gone. Will I even be able to say anything? Obviously I'm expected to speak at my own mother's funeral. Wait a minute. Is that... Miranda? What's she doing here? And what's that in her paw!?"
F.M. finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with F.M. on the right, and Marshall on the left. "Next time, Pain Erupted From Loss! (F.M. was standing at the podium as she reached a realization about something that brought anger into her eyes) Why does losing someone hurt so much!?"
