Joyce was curious about what was going on too and agreed to drive Buffy, Willow, Oz and Angel over to Chase Manor, with Giles and Wesley following in the their own cars. When they arrived they saw a number of cars parked in the long driveway.
"Buffy, I recognize some of those cars." Willow said. "That silver Accord belongs to Johnathan's parents. The red Lexus belongs to Xander's parents and the blue Mustang belongs to Jesse's parents."
"Jesse?" Buffy asked.
"He was turned just after you arrived in town. You and Xander went into the tunnels to try to save him. Xander dusted him at the Bronze during the Master's attempt to rise during the Harvest."
"Oh yeah, I kinda remember him. Fawned all over Cordelia, didn't he?" Willow nodded, as Giles and Wesley pulled in and parked behind them.
"There's a lot more going on here then first appears." Giles said. "What are Xander and Cordelia involved in?"
"If you want to know." A voice behind them said. "Then you need to come in and meet the group." They turned to see Xander Harris standing behind them. But not the Xander Harris they were used to seeing. Xander wore bright colors and baggy clothes. This Xander was wearing jeans, black jeans that fit him perfectly and a muscle shirt that revealed he actually had muscles in his arms and shoulders. Instead of standing in his habitual slouch, he stood upright. He actually looked taller and solid.
"Xander, what the Hell is going on?!" Buffy demanded to know. "Where's Faith?!"
"If you're harboring a known murderer, Mr. Harris, you will find yourself in a great deal of trouble." Wesley pompously told him.
"We're not hiding a murderer. like I said, come in if you want answers." He held the door open and after a moment's hesitation, they went in. The first thing they saw was Faith.
"You said you weren't harboring a murderer!" Wesley exclaimed.
"We're not. Deputy Mayor Finch's death was an accident. One Buffy was equally responsible for, but still an accident. You did tell Buffy that, didn't you Mr. Giles, that it was an accident?" One of the men said.
"Yes. Because it was."
"Then why didn't you tell Faith that? Or was Buffy throwing a human at a Slayer in the midst of a battle the only part you considered an accident? Because I can assure you, the law considers it an accident. So does the Watchers Council for that matter. They are deeply unhappy with your report that Faith Lahaine committed murder when she didn't, Mr. Wyndom-Price."
"How do you know what the Watchers Council's opinion on the matter is?" Giles asked. "How do you even know they exist?"
"Please Mr. Giles, do not insult our intelligence. We've known they exist since the sixties. We're well aware of the fact that they've been ignoring the Hellmouth and Sunnydale since the Hellmouth went active a century ago. We have a contact in the Watchers Council. And you can't conduct an illegal operation like Mr. Wyndom-Price attempted without drawing attention." The man answered.
"What illegal operation? What are you talking about?" Wesley asked, confused and astonished that these people, whoever they were, would think he'd done something illegal.
"You attempted to kidnap a U. S. citizen, a minor at that, from U. S. soil." Another voice said. "Trust me, we noticed." They turned to look at the new speaker. "My name is Calvin Sheppard, Special Agent Calvin Sheppard of the FBI." He showed them his badge. "It's too bad the supernatural has to remain a secret or I'd have you in cuffs for that." Wesley was sputtering.
"You might be able to claim Faith didn't murder the Deputy Mayor." Willow said. "But she killed the guy at the airport who delivered the box of gavrox and that Professor guy!"
"No actually, she didn't. The guy at the airport was a half demon working for the Mayor and the Professor, well he's standing over there." One of the women said and pointed to a short, somewhat round man. "What you saw was a golem that Rabbi Levinson created."
"You see, Faith's been working undercover for us, to get information on what the Mayor's plan was. She passed on a good amount of information. During that stupidity of Buffy and Angel's attack on her, she passed on the fact that the Mayor built Sunnydale the way it is on purpose and that he was planning to Ascend. She only pretended to capture Willow to get in good with the Mayor. She knew you had something hidden in your shoe the whole time." Xander told them.
"What stupidity?!" Buffy yelled. "We were trying to help her!"
"Help her with what? And how exactly does assaulting, kidnapping and chaining a traumatized teenager to a wall and lecturing her on good and evil supposed to help anyone? Because that's what I saw you do." Xander answered.
"She wasn't acting normal. We were trying to help her see what she'd done wrong!"
"Buffy, she was reacting normally. Accidentally killing someone is going to freak someone out. Just because you don't react normally when you kill someone, doesn't mean Faith isn't going to react normally." Cordelia said.
"What are you talking about?! I've never killed anyone. Ted was an accident and a robot. One that was trying to kill my mother!"
The FBI agent spoke up again. "Catherine Madison, witch, self defense, possessed zookeeper, protecting Ms. Rosenberg, two human assassins, tricked into killing each other, Pete Clarner, weird scienced himself into a Mr. Hyde and attacked Mr. Osbourne. And the attempted murder of Faith Lehaine. Like I said, it's too bad the supernatural has to remain a secret or I'd have you in cuffs over that last one, Miss Summers."
