Author Note :
I just realize, The more I rewrite my story, the more annoying the MC becomes ... I hope you guys can bear with it for ... a few no, a lot chapter ahead of this one.
Because of my excitement, after I woke up from the same inn as before, I am immediately moving toward the adventurer guild without paying the inn again. I felt a little bad for doing that, but since I didn't know how to take out the money from the magic bag, it couldn't be helped.
Yet despite my excitement, when I arrived in front of the guild I hesitated to go inside. The reason for it was silly; I'm still scared by that woman. If only yesterday didn't end badly, I would not have this feeling, but what happened has happened. The only thing I could do now was going through with it.
To calm myself I took a deep breath before going inside the guild. After I entered the guild, I was surprised. Even when I arrived this early, there were not many adventurers inside. Heck, the only people inside were the group that I met yesterday.
"Are an adventurer is a rare existence in this world? I guess one gold coin is a lot of money."
As I walked toward the receptionist desk, I saw the same woman as the first time I came here, sitting behind it.
"Just my luck, that woman here again, and why there is no other receptionist other than her, and where the hell are other adventurers when I need to ask?!"
At first, I intended to go to the only party in this guild, but that woman's eyes met mine, so I decided to go to her table.
I slowed my pace going to her desk while thinking about what I should do to avoid doing embarrassing things.
"I guess that could work."
When I arrived in front of her, she grinned, "Oh hi, it's you again. Are you trying to register again?"
"Of course, and this time I took my money with me."
"Oh really, can you show it to me?"
I placed the magic bag on the desk, "The money is inside that magic bag. If I recall correctly, there should be at least a single gold coin inside of it."
"With this, she will doubt that I had money with me. Then she will show me how to take out the coins from that bag."
She frowned when she heard what I said.
"You know, you don't have to give the bag to me. Just take out a single gold coin from inside the bag."
"Damn, I'm not prepared for that. Why you asked me that!" I cursed in my mind, "Eh? Uhm, Aren't you going to doubt me whether I had that money inside that bag?"
She grinned again, "Do you have the money or not?"
"Well, I have it inside that bag."
"Then take out the coins."
I was nervous and panicked. I should have expected this to happen, but sadly I am not. Now, I regretted how foolish I was for walking to her desk without preparation for this. I got silent and trying to think of a solution to get out of this situation. Unfortunately, because I was confused, I couldn't even think clearly.
Shortly I heard someone yelling, "STOP!"
I looked at the source of the voice and saw a male adventurer rushing to my location, and if I recall correctly, that was Eric.
"Please don't report him," Eric said.
"Wait, what do you mean by report?"
"Why shouldn't I report him? He clearly stole that bag from someone else. He didn't even know how to operate it."
"What?! I don't steal this bag... wait, technically I did stole this, but I stole it from the bandit, and he said it was okay." I said while pointing to Eric.
"Of course, a stealer like you always said that it was from the bandit."
"If you don't believe me, you can ask this guy right here," I said
That woman then glared at Eric.
"We encountered him yesterday. At that time, we thought it was a joke when he said he would steal something from the bandit. But it looked like he found one."
"See, I told you I'm stealing from the bandits!"
"That doesn't prove anything. You could steal this from someone that is not a bandit after they left you."
"I get this bag from the bandit, why can't you –,"
Eric stretching his hand in front of me is making me stopped talking.
"Wait, how about letting him proves his innocence by joining our quest to hunt the bandits."
"That is a good idea," She then looked at me, "You won't refuse, right?"
"Fine by me, but I want you to make me an adventurer first!"
"If you could show them where the bandits are, then I won't report you to the knights, and maybe I will let you become an adventurer."
I slammed both of my hands on the desk, "Maybe, Maybe! I can't see any benefit for me if it only ends up 'maybe' If you want me to do that, then 'make' me, not –"
I suddenly felt a punch hit my chest area, and it was the last thing I remembered before my consciousness left me.
When I woke up, I was hanging on a shoulder. I looked to the side and saw the face of the one that carried me. If I remember correctly, this guy was the member of the adventurer I met yesterday, Walles.
"Oh, you're awake," Walles said.
"Please, put me down,"
Walles then placed me on the ground.
"Ugh...What happened and why I ended up on your shoulder?"
"The guildmaster punched you and knocked you out," Eric said
"What the guildmaster punched me? When?"
"Oh, I guess you didn't see it because it happened too fast. I only realized that you got punched when you were unconscious on the floor."
"Damn it! What did I do that causing the guildmaster to punch me?"
The three of them stared at me. From that reaction, I could guess that it seemed I actually did something to anger the guild master.
"If only that bitch just accepted me, then the guildmaster won't hate me!"
"Uhm...You may not know this, but that receptionist is the guildmaster." Jamilla said.
"Eh?" I looked at Willes because I couldn't believe what I just heard from her.
"She tells the truth." Willes confirmed what Jamilla said.
"Eh?" I still couldn't believe it, so I looked at Eric.
"Yeah, that girl you hate is the guildmaster."
"Eeeeeeeeeeh!"
Isn't that a bad situation for me? If the guildmaster hated me, then there's no way I could be an adventurer in this town. It looked like I couldn't register at the first town as those protagonists do.
"Oh yeah, she had a message for you. 'If you are going to prove that you are worthy as an adventurer, try to register at this place. But if it is too much for you, then register at another place just like a coward you are. She said." Eric said.
"That bitch! Fine, I'll accept her challenge and show her I could do it."
The three of them staring at me like, 'How easy.' transpired in their minds. I wanted to protest at them and told them that it was not because I got taunted by that bitch, but because I did not want to be underestimated. Besides, I wanted to see her reaction when I became an adventurer at that place.
I searched my pocket to make sure I still had the magic bag. Sadly, I could not find it no matter how hard I tried to.
"Uhm... I can't seem to find my magic bag. Can you tell me where it is?"
"The guild master said she will keep it until our quest to capture the bandits complete or until you show us their hideout."
"Oh, for fuck sake, fine, I could show you guys where the bandit's hideout is. But first I need to know where we are."
"Since yesterday we met you at the forest near the northern gate, we intended to take you there. As for now, we are on the highway to that forest."
"You are fortunate that I wake up before you go deep inside the forest. The bandit hideout is near the highway, not in that forest. Now, follow me!"
Our formation now was me walking in front, while those three behind me. This situation was making me excited. It felt like I became the leader of my party, even though I knew that I was not. Nevertheless, it felt like one for me.
While we were walking toward the bandit hideout, we made small talk. The conversation was mostly about me asking them about their adventure. From them, I heard that Eric was not a part of the original party. He got invited after saving them when they were going to lose against a vampire.
"How nice. I want to do something like that too. Still, I do hope they stop trying to warn me about the danger of being an adventurer. I mean, I knew that! With my skill, I could avoid them all, just like those protagonists."
Unfortunately, this journey was way longer than I thought. My excitement about adventuring was gone in the middle of our travel. Now I only want to reach our destination immediately. Yet, despite my wish, I was the reason our journey to slow down because I had lousy stamina and taking a lot of breaks.
"Oh, how I wanted to transform into Rumia and fly away. But if I turn into her, she will create her dark bubble with how bright the sky is. Then they will realize the monster they spotted at the highway was me. Not like it was a bad thing, but for now, I don't want to show them my unique skill. Maybe after I am unlocked some of the strong characters, I will tell them and even show off my skills to the world."
Since the day has gotten late, I'm forcing myself to walk even when they ask me to take a rest. Fortunately, we reached the tree that I gave mark in the afternoon.
"At last, we almost reach the bandit's hideout," I said.
"That is good news, but can you stop forcing yourself and rest a little bit," Walles said.
"You're right. I guess I will sit down a little bit first,"
As I was about to sit down, my detection skill picked up three humans approaching us.
"It looked like some of the bandits coming here."
"What? Are you sure? I am not detecting anything," Shortly after saying that, Walles frowned, "You're right. Three people are coming here. I'm sorry, but can't you walk a little bit more to behind that tree?"
Then we moved to behind one of the trees and waited for them to get close. After a short while, three people walking in our direction. One of them is the bandit's boss that paralyzed me when I was attacking them last night.
Once they got close to our position, something unexpected happened. Walles immediately cast earth magic, causing their bodies to sink into the ground. Then it was followed by Jamilla's wind magic to pierce their hearts.
"Wait, what?! Do you guys kill them without even asking? Is that normal on a bandit quest?" I exclaimed.
Eric tapped my shoulder, "Yes. If you are going to be an adventurer, you better used to see or do this."
I protested at him, "How do you know that they were a bandit and not an innocent person?"
"We looked at the drawing before we accepted the quest. One of the bandits is matching perfectly with the drawing, so we immediately attacked him."
"Can you guys at least stun them or knocked them unconscious rather than outright killing them."
This time Walles replied to me, "We would if we could, but we did not know what he could do, and we are not willing to risk our lives just because we wanted to capture him alive. After all, the quest did not end after you knocked them out, but it is until we took them to the guard."
It was a good argument, but I'm still conflicted about how easily they killed another human being. I mean, wait... If they are bandits, so I think they probably have killed many humans. They tried to rape me too when I being Rumia, so why should I ponder these too much?
"After I'm thinking about what they did. I can agree with you guys. They deserved to be dead."
"Glad you agree. Still, if you get shocked by this, are you sure you will not going to give up became an adventurer? Sometimes you must kill disgusting thing too." Walles said.
"Of course, I won't," I shouted, "Now tell me what we should do with their body?"
"*sigh* Fine, I'll stop trying to make you change your mind anymore, here,"
I catch the bag that Walles throw to me, "What is this?"
"That is a magic bag. This happened because you don't know how to use one, right? I will teach you how to use it. "
After that, Walles taught me how to use the magic bag. He told me to pour my mana into the magic bag. I was confused for a short time tried to figure out how to do that. Though from the extensive research I did on isekai, I decided to do one of the methods that appeared most of the time, imagining my mana flow to my hand.
Sure enough it was a success, a transparent blue panel like status screen showed up in front of me. That blue panel is like a game inventory screen, and there are twenty empty boxes on the screen.
I was excited and amazed at myself. Just like those protagonists, I am succeeding on my first try. I guess magic would be something that I was talented in this world. Of course, I'm not just spouting nonsense about it; I mean, Patchouli's condition about magic was unlocked immediately without me realizing it.
Sadly, it looked like I showed what I thought on my face. The one who noticed it first was Jamilla. She immediately scolded me and told me that using magic is not as easy as pouring mana into a magic item.
After that, I get forced to listen to Jamilla's sermon. Fortunately, it ended shortly because she noticed that I wasn't listening to her at all. Then she told Walles to continue with the magic bag lesson.
Storing things to the magic bag is easier than showing that inventory screen. All I need to do was touched the object and then said 'store'. After that, a magic circle formed up and stayed for a short while. When it is disappeared, the empty box was filled up automatically with the objects that I touched, in this case it seemed dead body took five spaces of the box.
After storing the three dead bodies, we decided to camp in the bandit's cave since it was too late to go back to the kingdom. I led them again because I was the only one who knew the location of the cave.
When we reached the cave, I led them toward where the bandits gathered yesterday. Unlike yesterday there was no torch in this cave, making it hard to see the inside. Yet despite that, I could see clearly with Rumia's passive, but those three need a light of a torch before entering.
At night we camped at the place where the bandits had a party yesterday. We are keeping watch in pair with Eric and Jamilla, while I'm stuck with Walles. For now, it was Walles and my turn.
"Damn it! I still can't believe those many swords are gone!" I said.
"Hahaha, you still hang up on that." Walles said.
"Of course, now that I know how to use the magic bag, I intended to sell a few of them. But to think someone stole it first."
"You just had bad luck; maybe you will find another way to gain money. Anyway, I may have said it many times to you, but are you still going to be an adventurer?"
"Thanks to you guys, now I know that being an adventurer is not an easy job. But I'm still going to be an adventurer."
"You know, I still cannot approve you to become one."
"I'll make you approve me after I became one then."
Walles gave a hearty laugh after I said that, "You have guts, a good thing to have as an adventurer. Try not to get kill by that though."
"Of course, I won't get killed. Anyway, can I ask you about the guild? I don't want to get tricked by her again."
"As long as it's something I know, I will answer you."
"Is there any rank in the guild?"
"There is. The guild ranks every adventurer from S as the highest to F as the lowest. Do you want to know the conditions of each rank?"
I got close to him, "Please, tell me!"
"Since you looked that eager, then I'll tell you about it. F is the rank that you will get after you join the guild. To get into E rank, you only need to survive for three months while doing some trivial quest like gathering herbs, or menial tasks like helping to fix a wall. The conditions for D rank are simple too, you only need to do a lot of quests until the guild deemed it you are worthy. As for the C rank, you need to sell a lot of C or higher ranked material at the guild. The B rank is almost the same as the C rank, and that condition is you must gather B ranked material. To get those materials, I recommend going inside a dungeon since those materials are rare outside the dungeon. For the A rank and S rank, I think it is impossible for you, so I will not tell you."
"Eh, why stop there? Please, tell me about it."
"Sorry, but I'll only tell you if you reached B rank."
"At that rank, I think I will know it even if you did not tell me."
"The more reason I don't have to tell you then."
He laughed after that, and then I laughed too. Well, it's not that bad to try to find out about it later by myself.
After we both stop laughing, I remember something important that I must do to survive in this world. I need to spread a rumor about myself. If I did not do that, my RP would become 0, and if that happened, I could not transform into any youkai.
"Say, I remember that you said that you encountered a strong monster before meeting with me. Can you tell me the monster description?"
"Hmm...I don't know what the monster looked like, but I know it was shrouded in darkness. That darkness was so dark that even Eric's strongest light magic fails to brighten it. The monster skin was tough too, I tried to hit it hard, yet I only managed to throw it away. Then again since I can't see the inside of the monster, I don't know if I hit the skin or a barrier."
I guess that's why my mana consumed, not because of the cost to maintain the darkness skill but because of Eric's light magic. While the reason my body was flying was because of this brute. It was painful to me when his sword hit me. But I forgive them since they are helping me now.
"So that monster is hiding inside a dark ball, right?"
"Yes, at least that is what I thought."
"If that the monster, then I may have seen it."
"Are you sure you saw the same monster as us?"
"Yes, when I'm going to sneak up at this cave, a dark ball showed up and stopped near the entrance. Then when the monster removed the darkness around it, I saw a blond little girl."
"A little girl? Are you sure about that?"
"I'm sure. Anyway, after that girl appeared and going inside, all the bandits ran away. I was grateful that the girl scared all the bandits. Because of her, I could sneak up easily and get that magic bag."
"I wonder it is because of Eric's magic that you did something stupid like that, or it is just you are that stupid."
"Eh, why is that stupid?"
"Why! Think about it carefully! You sneaked up at a cave where a strong monster just appeared and scared the bandits. What if that monster found you?"
"She was sleeping when I entered the cave, so it's okay."
"She was inside the cave too. You really are... You know what whatever. It is time to change shifts with Eric. So let's wake him up."
Nothing much happened after that. Sometimes when it was my turn to watch, I got sleepy and almost dozed off. But Walles was always made a conversation whenever I closed my eyes for too long, causing me to wake up again.
After the morning came, we traveled back to the kingdom. This time we took less rest since whenever I'm tired, Walles carried me. I wanted to complain since it was very embarrassing for me, but since they want to move fast I hesitated to voice it.
"I guess I should train my stamina." I thought while being carried.
When we arrived near the gate to the kingdom, Walles gave me something. He took out a leather breastplate and plain white clothes from his bag. He gave me this because he was worried about my recklessness and to hide my identity as a fallen noble.
I feel bad since his worry was because of my stories last night, and I wanted to return the items to him. But he refused it, so I accepted his gift. Still, I don't know what made him think I was a fallen noble? I guess it's because my uniform looked fancy to him. I could correct him, but I decided not to tell him that I was from another world until I got famous in this world.
After that, we separated our way and going to a different place. Those three go to the guard post to report about the bandits. As for me, I am going to the adventurer guild. Before we parted our way, they gave me their quest paper. They said it was to make that bitch believe me about helping them at their quest.
I have a hunch that bitch won't make me an adventurer because of that. Then again, I don't care about it because I will complete any challenge she gave me. I will show her that I am worthy to become an adventurer.
