The Slytherin table applauded their new beautiful member, some noticed it was strange for someone with the last name Smith to be in Slytherin instead of Hufflepuff, especially since the Smith family of wizards is directly descended from founder Helga Hufflepuff, but those mysteries were put aside for a moment as she sat next to Malfoy, with Goyle to her right and Crabbe to Draco's left.

Brief introductions were exchanged between the Slytherin members and the newcomers as the selection ended, and then everyone fell silent as the director stood up.

'Absurd' Tanya thought as she listened to the director speak. 'Absurd,' she repeated in her mind as she recalled the Sorting Hat's words while forcing a fake smile in her face.

Draco smirked arrogantly and said, "I was right, I'm always right."

Tanya looked coldly at Draco before sighing and nodding slowly, and then she was startled when the Bloody Baron floated inches from her face. However, she decided to ignore it for the moment, her pride as an atheist hurting at the evidence of life after death, but it wasn't a big deal after all.

In a normal situation, she could do many things to prove this actually had some logic: ask questions, conduct experiments, and more, but obviously this was anything but an ideal situation for such an attitude.

After this, it was time to sing the Hogwarts anthem, and to Tanya's surprise, the decision of which melody to give it was left to each individual. Tanya's liberal spirit was happy, but her military side burned with fury at this lack of discipline despite she had started singing even before she realized she was singing, at first she was imitating her companions, but then she started singing the lyrics produced by Dumbledore in the Imperial anthem to which she was so accustomed.

However, more unusual than her interpretention of the anthem in a military manner, were the twin redheads who extended the song with a mournful tone. Some regulatory instructions by the part of Dumbuldore followed the anthem (such as not entering the Forbidden Forest or the third-floor corridor), and then the plates were magically filled with a snap from the director.

Tanya swallowed as the food magically appeared on her plate. By using proper negotiation methods at her orphanage (also called, "Don't try to give me less food than the rest if you don't want me to burn you while you sleep"), she was well-fed. Yet, getting good quality food like the one materialized in front of her was a luxury and mostly a distant dream.

Years of war, with few supplies, and another 11 years in an orphanage where she sometimes had to discard poisoned food did little to help her maintain self-control in front of the banquet before her.

Several people at the Slytherin table nervously swallowed as they couldn't take their eyes of Tanya as she eat with a monstrous voracity as if she had never touched any food in her life. Draco whistled in admiration and applauded the sight, bringing Tanya back to reality, who elegantly wiped her mouth with red cheeks for a moment before facing the food with the same ferocity but with a little more consciousness. In short, delicate war tactics were applied to devour it to the tiniest part strategically so she wouldn't ashame her self in front of all the table but consuming nonetheless immense chunks of food.

Crabbe and Goyle seemed to take this as a kind of challenge, and amidst silent competition, they vied for the title of the most voracious eater, despite this, their efforts were vane as the final and indisputable winner was Tanya and her techniques of "eat while you can mastered on the mud of the battle against the communist.

After that, the night progressed towards its end, and the first-year groups were taken to their common rooms. Tanya walked beside Draco, followed by Crabbe and Goyle towards the depths of the castle, while a small conversation in whispers spread among them.

"So...Tanya, do you know dark magic?" Crabbe asked in a whisper before Malfoy hit him on the head.

"What are you doing talking about dark magic on your first day?"

Crabbe rubbed his head. "I'm just curious if her parents talked to her about it."

Tanya looked curiously. "Can I assume that you know what you refer to as dark magic?"

Crabbe shrugged. "There's no way, and although there are some books on that at home, they never let me read the important ones."

Goyle laughed. "Your parents probably think you're so stupid that with that information, you'd burn the house down to the ground."

At that moment, the Slytherin prefect placed his arms around the necks of the first-year boys. "Yeah, I have no doubt they thought you will burn the house to the gorund, any way I'm already looking forward to seeing how you guys will do in class.

Maybe we can use your ability to set Gryffindor's class on fire with our spells; oh, but forget about dark magic. There's already enough mediocrity among those who only learn the superficial aspects of the normal magic.

I am Craig Bowker, prefect of Slytherin, at your service."

The boy in question was tall, handsome, with curly dark hair. His eyes were a deep, almost magical green-purple color. After giving Crabbe and Goyle a few gentle taps on the shoulders, he dismissed them. "Wait until you can perform a curse that can make someone vomits their own organs before attempting to learn dark magic otherwise you will be the one wishing to vomit its organs, now, let's go."

Both boys swallowed nervously and began to walk, only to realize that Tanya and Draco had continued walking and left them behind while engrossed in a light conversation. As Craig watched them disappear into the distance, he saw Tanya say something that made Malfoy cough and hide a laugh.

Tanya looked at him with a mixture of confusion and anger. "Is it strange that I've become a frequent customer of Ye Olde?"

When Craig heard that and he couldn't help but widen his eyes in surprise. He tried to hide it but Tanya noticed him behind her and turned to look at him with serious, deep, and challenging eyes, as if her gaze was saying: 'Do you have something to say?'. Craig became seriously concerned about the future of this new member of his household and decided that the next time he had any unpleasant task such as cleaning chores, he would ask for her help and pay her extra. She would need the money, but only fool would gift money.

The first night at Hogwarts felt completely unreal for Tanya, but soon a routine was established in her daily life, getting up early, training her body, having breakfast, and preparing for class. The castle, on the other hand, was a disaster, with moving stairs, living portraits, doors that needed a little intimidating to open, ghosts walking around the castle... but somehow it was a fun disaster.

Making sure there was no one in the stair area, Tanya stood just a step away of a several-meter fall, thinking for a moment about the laws of physics that this sector of the castle was violating; there were some levitanting stairs that were working in a strange patern and that pretty much just violet the laws of gravity, however, after some study, she had begun to understand the principle. She carefully put her ebony wand in her pocket and took out the double-core wand that she had not sold from inside her robe, swinging it a little while closing her eyes.

The room trembled a bit, and suddenly one of the portraits fell off, and Tanya barely avoided it from hitting her head. "Damn, this is still too unstable," she muttered to herself as she pulled out her ebony wand again.

Holding it like a weapon, Tanya pointed her wand forward and made a strained face as drops began to come out of her face; her arm tensed as if her wand weighed several tons. However, slowly and with great effort, Tanya's wand moved slowly directed by her hand in a simple circle until everything suddenly ended without any obvious change. Tanya was panting as she reviewed one of the books taken from the library with a maniacal smile on the rest of her face. At that moment, she looked at one of the clocks in the hallway expectantly and after a few moments; she smiled even more contentedly as she watched one of the stairs slowly aproche to her location.

"Hooray for mathematics! With this, these bitches now follow my schedule perfectly! Mua ha ha ha!"

Dumbledore was walking down the hallway lost in thought when he almost fell into the void. His curious eyes looked at the stairs and he pulled out his wand, making a couple of movements. His eyes opened wide with curiosity.

"How is it that someone changed the pattern of these stairs?"

The headmaster spent half an hour lost in this enigma until, with a wave of his wand, all the stairs aligned one after the other in a great and imposing staricase that would take him directly to the meeting room. Then he noticed an orange striped cat looking at him attentively and intently at the other side of the stairs.

"Oh, Minerva, someone changed the pattern of the stairs! How did they do it? This magic is simple but ancient, isn't it wonderful? I have been at Hogwarts for so long and never thought of something like this."

"Interesting. Is this why you didn't make it to the meeting about the old school brooms?"

"Minerva, such matters are nothing compared to the magical talent of a student like this. Besides, I fully trust your judgement."

Minerva frowned as she walked down the stairs, which were slowly returning to the adjustment Tanya had made. "This is a nuisance, the pattern is completely different. On the other hand, who was the student who did this? I don't think it's the most responsible thing to do, but if they were in my house, I would be more than happy to give them a score of twenty points for such a magical feat."

Dumbledore smiled affably. "I would turn that into fifty points, but unfortunately, we don't know who did it."

This was a special morning at Hogwarts, it was finally the day. This was the day that flying classes would begin and Tanya couldn't be more excited about it. The anticipation was killing her, ever since she had the chance to use her wand, she had tried to recreate her flying formula over and over again and this was proving to be a real challenge, yet Tanya was making progress, slowly but definitely going in the right direction.

Magic was so archaic and powerful, mathematics full of patterns but at the same time instinctive and animalistic, Tanya felt like she could do anything with the wand in her hand, at the same time, she felt like there were so many things that could go wrong if she wasn't careful, it really made her rack her brain, it was very difficult to standardize methods especially because there were several spells that performed the same task in different ways.

She went down to the Great Hall followed by Crabbe and Goyle.

"I could never fly at home because I couldn't practice without anyone to play Quidditch with," Goyle shrugged.

"Flying was never my thing, but it looks like fun."

Tanya looked at them both with some disgust.

"Crabbe, Goyle, have you ever flown before?"

Both looked away.

"Think carefully about your words and be honest."

"M-maybe..."

"You don't yet know if this is for you or not, but let me warn you, no, let me forwarn you, this is a fack, sooner or later both of you will fly even if I have to use 'wingardium leviousa' on a wooden board and put the two of you on it. However, know that I won't accept anything less than perfection by my side. Pray, pray to any supernatural entity that comes to your minds that both of you have an extraordinary talent for flying, otherwise, both of you will have extra lessons."

"Are there extra flying lessons?" Goyle asked, somewhat confused, causing Tanya to smile maliciously.

"Not yet, not yet..."

As they said this, the trio entered the Great Hall to be surprised by a small scream.

"Give me back my rememberall!" a pitifully sculpted boy begged stupidly to Draco, who had a crystal ball in his hand. Harry and Ron stood up with a threatening air, and Tanya noticed Draco's expression twist slightly, so she approached to help.

"Good morning, Draco. What's that?"

"This? It's a stupid crystal ball from this boy. It seems that if you squeeze it hard, it lights up red if you forget something." As he said that, he passed the rememberall to Tanya's hand while Crabbe and Goyle approached Harry and Ron menacingly, who seemed ready to fight.

"Oh, something like this would come in handy for me." As she held the ball, it turned red and Tanya said. "Oh, I almost forgot, I wanted to ask you a couple of things about Quidditch."

"Hey, give that back to Neville!" Said Ron in an imposant tone.

Tanya looked around attentively and noticed how both the Slytherins' and Gryffindors' eyes were on her.

Tanya smiled slowly, although she supported house rivalry, bullying wasn't her thing, but there was something she liked right away about taking this crystal, maybe... it would be okay to be a little mean this time.

"Or what?" She replied with a beautiful smile on her face of course she wouldn't stole something but she wanted see how they would react as the "brave" house. Tanya waited a couple of seconds for the tension to settle before laughing lightly and looking at the owner of the rememberall.

"Neville, isn't it? This is a good thing, would you mind selling it?"

"I-it's a gift from my grandmother."

"You just received it, it's not like is important or anything, instead be thankful that we are talking nicely about buying this item despite your blatant lack of manners." Draco dismissed.

"It's over, give Neville the rememberall!"

"There's no need to be so violent, We-weslay, I'm just... interested in this curiosity, that's all."

At that moment, Professor McGonagall approached the table.

"Is there a problem?"

"Tanya and Draco don't want to give Neville his rememberall back."

"Is that true?"

"But of course not!" Tanya covered Crabbe's mouth as she sensed he was about to get her in trouble.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience, Ms. McGonagall; we were just interacting in a friendly manner with our Gryffindor classmates in order to build friendships across houses. I actually wanted to buy this from Neville."

"Well, Miss Smith, you can't buy other people's belongings without the owners' permission."

Tanya clicked her tongue inwardly as she stifled a frustrated sigh. She hated being treated like a child. With a bitter expression, she approached and returned the crystal ball to Neville's hand.

"Let's continue this negotiation in the future," she said.

After saying these words, Tanya turned around and walked away with a noble air. Crabbe and Goyle followed in her footsteps, while Draco stayed behind, somewhat dazed, before hurrying to catch up with her. He stopped for a second to stick his tongue out at the Gryffindor boys before leaving the Great Hall.

Moments later, the door opened again and Tanya, with a red face, entered the hall followed by Crabbe, Goyle, and Draco. This time, she headed to the Slytherin table to have breakfast. Draco sat beside her but didn't serve anything as he had already eaten.

"It seems like you really need that red ball. What will you do to steal that ball from that toad face boy?" Draco asked.

Still with a red face, Tanya complained, "I got distracted because of you. Besides, why would I have to steal it instead of buying it?"

Draco looked at her skeptically. "Ask that to the people who promote rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor. But is not difficult to see why, we are Slytherins, if we want something, we take it. That's just how it is. Besides, I can't be the only one who wants to annoy those mediocre idiots."

"That's a scandalous statement. Ugh, why can't we get along?" Tanya asked.

"Hey, don't joke with me. Do you really pretend to be friends with those guys?"

"Interpersonal relationships are essential for healthy coexistence. Besides, Potter is Potter," Tanya remember as her mind flew over the things her classmates were saying about Harry and felt a bit bad for not being nicer with him while she had a chance.

"Ha! In other words, if it weren't for Potter being the boy who lived, you wouldn't bother trying."

"Tch, I give everyone I meet a chance, but I can't deny that I am being somewhat indulgent with Potter. Patience is a virtue, Drako, perhaps not today, not in a year, but maybe one day this investment will pay off."

"And what if it never does?" Tanya stabbed her egg with excessive force, cracking the plate below.

"That would be a real shame, he's a valuable asset to have on your side, even if he's more of a mediocre type he'll be a famous figure until the day he dies. But I'm not too worried, it's a plausible loss."

"A plausible loss? I think you're the only person who can say that about Potter."

Tanya shrugged.

"Well, he still has a whole life ahead of him to prove his worth. If he's nothing more than 'the boy who lived' until the day he dies, well, then he's effectively nobody to me."

"Your dream of being Minister of Magic again? I don't even aspire to such a high position, you know."

"Drako, don't get carried away by positions, instead, look at the person in it, at their ability, and don't think of the ascent as the ultimate goal. I've learned... I mean, my parents told me that during their youth, they focused entirely on their jobs without looking beyond, day and night the result of a good job was always more work filled with annoying and incompetent superiors, but there are more things in life than work, for example, good companions that you wouldn't let die in front of your eyes..." Tanya's eyes lost themselves with a hint of guilt in her gaze "Ha ha ha, what hypocrisy... Ahem, the important thing is to live life on your own terms and not let any entity impose itself on you."

Draco swallowed.

"You know, sometimes I feel like I'm talking to someone very wise, but all the serenity disappears like foam when you say 'Drako', it just breaks the seriousness"

Tanya shrugged. "Excuse my words, but I care little about how good or bad my pronunciation is. My head is filled with so many things that this is the least of my concerns right now. Would you mind lending me some money? I swear I'll pay it back, and also I wanted to ask you about how to join the Quidditch team and there are a couple of letters I need to send to your father..."

Draco frowned.

"I'd rather you act like a wise old woman than like a Ministry official." Tanya took out her wand and silenced Draco with a curse.

"I love that we've come to such a good conclusion, now I think it's time for our first Quidditch lesson, don't you think?"

Draco took out his wand and tried to reverse the curse, but since he couldn't articulate any words, nothing happened.

Crabbe looked at Goyle and asked, still with his mouth full of food.

"Did you see that?"

"See what?"

"How Tanya silenced Malfoy."

"Did she?"

"Yes, and she didn't even utter the curse."

"I don't believe you. Besides, Tanya is usually gentle with Malfoy. Unlike she is with us, she wouldn't use a curse on him."

"But she just did."

"There's no way. Tanya has too much patience. You must have misheard."

Crabbe stuck a finger in his ear and pulled out some wax that he looked at closely before putting it in his mouth and eating it.

"Maybe... But I'd bet she cast a silent spell..."

Tanya was standing next to Draco in the outsides chatting about Quidditch rules with him when the Gryffindor members arrived.

Professor Hoch greeted the newcomers and instructed them to stand next to their brooms.

Tanya looked disappointedly at the broom in front of her. "Next to the Nimbus, I think this thing is only good for firewood."

"This is outrageous. I'll send an owl to my father to have him send my broom."

"When you do, let me attach a letter of my own. This thing must be violating some safety regulation without a doubt."

"What? That's four letters for my owl, and only one is mine. Don't you have an owl?"

"Do you have a problem with me sending letters to your father?"

"Tch, none. I just think it's disrespectful and parasitic for you to use my owl to send letters to my father."

"Yes, that was disrespectful of me. I apologize."

"That's what I wanted to hear. Maybe I'll let you use my owl if you-"

"If I beg?"

Draco swallowed hard under Tanya's cold gaze.

"I-if you ask nicely."

"Of course, I have no problem with that. We're friends after all."

Draco sighed under his breath.

"Friends don't silence their friends with spells or try to sneak letters into their owls without permission."

"Did you say something?"

"I said friends don't silence their friends-"

Draco shut his mouth when he felt a wand pressing against his ribcage.

"Just in time. There are a few more curses I'd be interested in trying."

Tanya and Draco stared at each other without looking away for a few seconds until Professor Hoch shouted.

"Hey lovebirds! We're all very happy about your beautiful relationship, but the class is starting! Miss Smith, remove your hand from Mr. Malfoy's chest!"

Almost in a matter of seconds, they both separated, Tanya quickly hiding the wand and Draco adjusting his cloak with a red face. Both had annoyed expressions on their faces, but mutually decided to stop embarrassing themselves in front of the whole class.

While Professor Hoch explained how to call the broom to your hand, Draco whispered in Tanya's ear.

"And to think you were so polite on the Hogwarts Express, it seems you really are a true Slytherin."

Tanya stepped on his foot, making him let out a small cry of pain.

Crabbe and Goyle looked at each other.

"Should we hit Draco for going out with Tanya without our authorization?"

"But what if he tells his father?"

"... What a dilemma."

"Damn it, Draco, I was still preparing my declaration."

"Huh? Hey, you knew I wanted to declare myself! What do you even like about her?"

"I feel like he cares about me and takes care of me."

"Why are you crying when you say that?"

"I-I was just remembering the time when Tanya took a slice of chocolate cake from my hands, saying that it was bad for my diet, and then she immobilized me with a curse and slowly ate the cake in front of my eyes without paying attention to my pleas."

Goyle hugged Crabbe, who was sobbing uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

Professor Hoch shouted once again.

"That's enough! 5 points deducted from Slytherin for your annoying lovebirds interrupting the class!"

Author's note.

Well well well, sorry for the delay, reading fanfics is the best thing in life but it takes time.

On another note, I think I didn't take too much time to develop the first days at Hogwarts, so I'll come back to that soon in the next chapters, maybe in the form of a flashback.

Also, maybe you've already noticed, but Tanya isn't having much trouble mastering magic... for now... You can't build a house from the roof down, and for someone who has never uttered a spell in her life... I wonder how far she will advance before hitting a wall.

On another another note, I'm taking some creative liberties with the functioning of magic because I want to give it a greater use than just "red beam" and "barrier".

In summary, there's a lot more to write, and I can't wait to write it.

Also, thanks about all your reviews:

Extra:

I was messing around with chat GPT and the son of a bitch just wrote a Draco x Tanya moment so here it is:

Tanya and Draco exchanged a glance, both realizing they needed to focus on the class if they wanted to avoid further deduction of points for their house. They quickly mounted their brooms and followed the rest of the class to practice the spell that called the broom to your hand.

As the class progressed, Tanya couldn't help but feel frustrated with her broom. It was slow and unresponsive, making it difficult for her to perform the spell correctly. Draco noticed her struggling and offered to switch brooms with her.

"You don't have to do that," Tanya said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I want to," Draco replied, a genuine smile on his face. "We're a team now, right?"

Tanya felt her cheeks flush as she handed over her broom to Draco. As soon as he mounted it, she could see the difference in his control and speed. He effortlessly called the broom to his hand, and Tanya couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

Draco noticed her expression and offered her some advice. "It's all about the balance and focus. You need to visualize the broom coming to your hand, and it will respond."

Tanya nodded, determined to master the spell. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and visualized the broom flying towards her hand. When she opened her eyes, she saw her broom hovering towards her.

A smile spread across her face as she caught the broom. "Thank you, Draco. You were right. It's all about the balance and focus."

Draco smiled back. "See, I knew you could do it."

Draco and Tanya tried to focus on the class, but they couldn't help stealing glances at each other. Eventually, the class ended and they all headed back to the castle.

Draco and Tanya walked together, discussing the lesson and making plans to practice flying together. As they reached the entrance hall, Draco turned to Tanya and said, "I had a great time today. We should do it again sometime."

Tanya smiled and replied, "I'd like that. Maybe we can go to the Forbidden Forest next time. I heard there are some interesting creatures there."

Draco raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure that's a good idea? The forest is dangerous."

Tanya grinned. "That's exactly why it's interesting."

Draco chuckled. "You're a real Slytherin, you know that?"

Tanya playfully punched his arm. "And you're a real Malfoy."

They said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. As Tanya walked back to the Slytherin common room, she couldn't help but think about how much she enjoyed spending time with Draco. She wondered what adventures they would have next.

As they entered the Great Hall, they saw the other students already seated at their respective house tables. Tanya and Draco made their way to the Slytherin table and sat down, grabbing plates of food from the center of the table.

As they ate, Draco turned to Tanya and said, "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. It was out of line."

Tanya looked at him for a moment before replying, "Apology accepted. But just so you know, being a Slytherin doesn't automatically make someone rude or cruel."

Draco nodded in agreement. "You're right. I guess I just got caught up in the stereotypes."

The two of them continued to eat in silence for a few moments before Tanya spoke up again. "So, about the Quidditch game next week. I was thinking we could practice together, maybe work on some plays."

Draco looked surprised but pleased. "I'd like that. It's always good to have someone to practice with."

Tanya smiled. "Great. We can start after classes tomorrow."

As they finished their lunch, Tanya and Draco made plans for their Quidditch practice and continued to chat about other things. Despite their rocky start, it seemed that they were slowly but surely becoming friends.

Over the next few weeks, Draco and Tanya spent more time together, studying in the library and practicing spells outside of class. They grew closer as they shared their hopes and fears for the future.

One evening, as they were walking back to the common room after dinner, Draco took Tanya's hand and stopped her in the hallway.

"Tanya, I know we agreed to just be friends, but I can't help feeling like there's something more between us."

Tanya looked up at Draco and felt her heart skip a beat. "I feel it too, Draco. I don't know what it is, but I can't stop thinking about you."

Draco took a deep breath and leaned in to kiss Tanya. As their lips met, a surge of electricity ran through both of them. They pulled away, breathless.

"I think I'm falling in love with you, Tanya," Draco said.

Tanya smiled and kissed him again. "I know I'm in love with you, Draco. I have been since the moment I saw you on the Hogwarts Express."

From that moment on, Draco and Tanya were inseparable. They spent all their free time together, exploring the castle and practicing magic. They knew that their relationship would be frowned upon by some of their housemates, but they didn't care. They were in love, and that was all that mattered.

Years later, as they stood at the altar in the Great Hall, Draco and Tanya looked into each other's eyes and knew that they had made the right decision. They exchanged vows and rings, promising to love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives.

As they walked out of the Great Hall, hand in hand, Draco whispered in Tanya's ear, "I never thought I could be this happy. Thank you for being my best friend, my partner, and the love of my life."

Tanya smiled and kissed him. "I feel the same way, Draco. I love you more than anything in this world."

And with those words, they walked off into their future together, ready to face whatever challenges came their way, knowing that they had each other to rely on.

After they graduated from Hogwarts, Tanya and Draco moved to London together. They found a small apartment in a quiet part of the city and started their adult lives together.

Tanya went to work as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic, while Draco took over his father's business. They were both successful in their careers, but they always made time for each other. They traveled the world, visited museums, attended concerts and festivals, and explored the magical and Muggle worlds together.

Years went by, and they never lost the spark that brought them together at Hogwarts.

Their children grew up knowing that their parents came from different houses, but they never saw it as a barrier. Tanya and Draco raised them to be kind, open-minded, and accepting of all people, no matter their background or beliefs.

As they grew old together, Tanya and Draco never forgot the love and magic that brought them together at Hogwarts. They remained a shining example of what can happen when two people from different backgrounds come together and find love.
