Part 3: Setting Camp

Welcome back to another update for "The Road Trip". In this chapter, our characters have reached the National Park (I had to do some research, but settled on Sequoia National Park located in California/close to Mission Creek)! With some special cameos!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from Lab Rats, Mighty Med, Lab Rats: Elite Force, or Johan and Julie from Waktu Rehat. I only own my Original Characters. With that being said, enjoy this chaotic story.
Day 1, Noon

Sequoia National Park, California

After traveling for 6 hours (with meal and bathroom breaks in between), they've reached their destination just in time to set up camp. But it looks like they weren't the only families on vacation

"JENNY!" A voice called out, belonging to a little girl wearing blue waving at Jenny.

"Jamie!" Jenny spotted her friend before she rushed over gleefully to hug the other girl.

"What are you doing here, Jae?" Spin asked, trying to play it cool. The young Bionic hasn't fully admitted it, but he was quite taken with Jamie when they first met.

"Road trip, duh!" Jamie grinned.

"What a coincidence! We're here with our parents and their family friends." Bob exclaimed.

"Same, I'm here with my mom and Uncle Greg." Jamie motioned to her mom behind her and their family friend Greg Damian (AKA the Great Defender).

"Good day, Mr Andrews sir." A very tall man greeted the older superhero.

"We're here for sightseeing." Bernice replied.

"The limestone caves here are a stunning sight to behold." Rodissius nodded in agreement.

Hhm sure and it's probably not because the older superhero here and his late wife came here on their third date.

"This place has sentimental value to me, and I'm glad to share this precious moment with my family and my best friend's family." Rodissius nodded at the fond memories.

"Would you like to join us for the cave tour?" Doris took the initiative to invite Jamie's parents (yes, while Great Defender is not exactly Jamie's father, he's a better and more involved father figure than that monster)

"Please momma?" Jamie perked up at Spin's dad's idea, before giving her mom and Uncle Greg the biggest, cutest puppy eyes.

"Please mom and dad?" Bob also played along.

"Please dad?" AJ also joined in. He's the literal baby of the family, having kids his own age around doesn't sound like a bad idea.

"Sure, the more the merrier." Doris agreed, it's hard to resist the children's puppy eyes.

"Yay!" all the younger kids cheered.

"You still need to help set up the campsite." Roman called out to his younger brother.

"Half of us have pyrokinesis. The fire sets itself" AJ pointed out.

"Or Rainey. Things automatically set themselves on fire when Rainey tries to cook." Ricky muttered, earning a shudder from his brother.

"GUYS, I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THE POT JUST SET ITSELF ON FIRE!" Came Rainey's panicked voice.

"All I wanted to do was boil water for soup..." Rainey whimpered softly, watching Roman put out the fire.

Later after setting up camp…

"Wanna run around the park?" Jamie approached the Andrews siblings her age.

"Yeah!" Rainey cheered loudly, glad to be not the youngest girl on the trip for a change.

"I bet that I can skate better than you." Jamie taunted the Bionic boy.

"That's not a fair bet because I can't skate!" Spin protested.

"You could teach him. That way it's easier to humiliate him when he loses." Rainey hummed out a suggestion.

"I like you." Jamie declared with a grin.

"I'll get the first aid kit ready just in case." Ranger gave a thin smile, grabbing a portable first aid kit on standby before following his siblings and their friends.

"Hurry up, Bobby Burger!" Jenny ushered her friend to catch up.

"Stop running! I'm an out-of-shape shifter!" Bob followed after the other kids.

"Kids, be careful!" Bernice called out.

"Remember to use your helmet and knee pads if you're skating, Jae." Greg added, Jamie gave the taller man a thumbs up.

While the parents and older siblings helped prepare dinner (and the younger siblings were off to explore the park nearby), some of the other siblings were tasked to prepare the table.

"Look at us, on a big joint family vacation!" Ricky cheered, he's always liked the Chimokuri family and has considered them as a second family.

"The family will just grow bigger in the long run." AJ motioned to Spin and Jamie.

"Next thing you know, Dad will be suggesting Uncle Frank to all sell their houses and move into one big unit together to 'save mortgage'." Roger joked.

"Please Rog, don't give dad any more ideas." Rover rubbed the temple of his forehead. "He may ACTUALLY do it."

"Plus: Ro and Tray have already been engaged since before we were born, what difference would that make?" Rory wondered out loud.

"Remember how physically affectionate mom and dad were?" Reese reminded her siblings, casting a side glance at the oldest brother. "What if Ro becomes like THAT when he dates?"

Rodissius and Rina were so overly affectionate, it only took 1 or 2 years for the next sibling to arrive (considering each sibling has at least a 1-2 year age difference)

All the siblings shuddered at the thought of their stoic big brother being a physically affectionate guy to his future partner. What if you'll need 12 whole people to separate him from Tracy later on?

"Eh, my sister could date worse. Like Chase." Jones nodded. "She's got a type for buzzkills."

Roman felt his eye twitch at the mention of Chase. Something about that Bionic boy always seemed to get on his nerves. Maybe it's his know-it-all attitude or the fact that he's a public hero or his nasally voice. Or the fact that the Davenport kid's been Tracy's number-one crush (and closest friend) for the past few years.

Sure they've met on one occasion (twice if you count the very brief time the Normo doctors snuck onto the Bionic Academy and Chase got injured in the process), but Roman just doesn't like that kid in general.

"I have no idea what I missed out on, but mom and dad said I'm not allowed to date until I'm 18. Besides, Chase is my best friend at this point." Tracy defended.

"Good news Roman, you only need to wait another year." Riker whispered over to his twin who jabbed him in the elbow to shut it.

"Well you DID kiss that guy once." Jones snorted.

"First off: it was just a peck on the lips. And second: It was a game of Spin the Bottle at a party, and we were both curious." His sister explained, feeling her cheeks turning pink.

Plus, she may or may not have kissed him to throw Caitlin (who had an obsessive crush on him at the time) off his back. Sometimes, a friend kiss is really just a friend thing!

"He also tried to throttle you when he realized he wasted his first kiss on you. Bree told me." Jones smirked.

"The feelings were very much mutual, little brother." Tracy taunted back lightheartedly.

"I AM NOT A BOTTLE!" Spin yelled from afar, his ears only picked up his name vaguely without fully paying attention to the context. Jamie was teaching him how to skate, but he kept toppling over and falling down.

"You do have very ladylike curves." Jamie teased.

"NO, I DON'T!" Spin hissed, before losing balance and falling on top of Jamie.

"This one's going to be in the wedding album." Jenny snapped a picture as Bob nodded.

"Aww, ship~" Rainey cooed loudly.

"Get off me, shameless!" Jamie glared at the youngest Chimokuri sibling.

"Pretty sure your list has doubled now that you realized some of your girl crushes were actual crushes." Romulus teased.

"I thought I was straight, plus some attraction to girls!" Tracy exclaimed, still coming to terms with her newfound discovery.

"That's not how being straight works!" Regina shook her head.

"Hey, do you remember that stunning girl from Miami (Chelsey from Austin and Ally, played by Sofia Carson) we saw at the education fair a while back?" Reese recalled as a few of them sighed wistfully.

"She was so nice." Tracy nodded.

"And gorgeous." Even Riker swooned a little.

"Her skin was flawless." Rory agreed.

"10/10 would date her." Regina nodded in approval.

"AND she recycles!" AJ chimed in, "The future's gotta be green."

"Too bad she's taken." Reese shook her head. And straight.

"All the good ones usually are." Rover murmured, slumping his shoulders.

Roman silently digressed with his siblings (and Tracy) swooning over Chelsey from Miami.

Sure, the other teen was attractive; but there was something far lovelier about the way Tracy was smiling right now. He didn't even notice that he was looking at his friend with a fond smile on his face.

After dinner came the scheduled video calls the Chimokuris agreed with Madame Tsuki.

"Hello Auntie Tsuki!" Jenny accepted a video call from her aunt/guardian.

"Hey Jenny, how's the road trip?" An Asian woman smiled at the camera as she greeted her niece.

"Fun! Did you know Spin has a crush on Jamie?" Jenny hummed.

"No we don't!" "No I don't!" The teased couple in question protested.

"Hey Madam Tsuki! We made lots of new friends today!" Bob waved at the camera.

Madame Tsuki was apparently one of Krane's hired caretakers to look after some of the Bionic soldiers. The older woman was mostly in charge of the much younger Bionics.

To this day, Tracy and Jones wonder why and how Krane managed to adopt Tsuki's grandkids and niece. But knowing the power and wealth the former billionaire had at his disposal, it's possible he had some blackmail leverage over others.

Then again, Douglas did mention that he's seen Krane having a bunch of baby pictures in his lair. That thought alone sent a shiver up Tracy's spine. How many times has he done this? How many families has he ruined in order to build his so-called army?

"Can I talk to January on the phone?" Tracy asked, pushing those fears aside.

"Hi baby girl, how are you? Did you behave well?" she started to smile as the 7-month-old baby showed up on camera.

"She's so cute!" Jenny squealed.

Unfortunately (for a few people), Rodissius picked up the mention of his (unofficial future adopted) grandchild when he was handing out s'mores to the kids to roast over the fire.

"IS THAT MY GRANDBABY?" Rodissius' grandfatherly instincts kicked in at the mere mention of January. "I need to see her!"

"Dad, she is NOT your actual grandbaby!" Roman deadpanned in exasperation.

"If she's not my grandchild, why does she look exactly like my son and my future daughter-in-law?" Rodissius seemed unconvinced. I think baby fever (or is it grandbaby fever?) has run the older superhero over like a bullet train.

"Rodi, cut it out. It's still their choice if they'd fall in love or not. And we've got the whole future ahead of us." It was Frank's turn to talk some sense to his best friend.

17 is still a very young age to consider marriage or settling down.

"Yeah, and Tracy's not allowed to date ANYONE until she's finished high school." Doris nodded with her husband.

"What did I miss?" Tracy returned shortly after ending the call with Madam Tsuki.

"Dad's having grandbaby fever again." Remus snorted.

"I'd like grandkids in the future too, but 17 is TOO YOUNG for my daughter to give me heart attacks." Frank dryly retorted his friend.

"Wasn't Aunt May around Tracy's age when she had her first boyfriend?" Jones remembered their aunt.

"Yes, and she almost threw away her studies to be with that scum." Frank snarled a little. "Which is exactly why I hope that never happens to any of you kids."

"I remember. You got so angry that day." Rodissius nodded at the memory. He's rarely seen his best friend that angry before, and May's ex was truly a scumbag.

"Crystal clear, dad." Jones responded with a thumbs up.

"I'll make no such promises." Bob joked.

"Dating is gross." Spin replied, wrinkling his nose in disgust.

"I bet you won't say that eventually." Riker teased the younger Bionic, subtly pointing at Jamie chatting with her mom.

Tracy was just eating s'mores and staring up at the starry sky when Roman suddenly leaned closer to her.

"What?" Tracy blinked. He brushed his thumb over her lips, causing her to flush red at the touch.

The older teen murmured with a fond smile, "You got chocolate on your mouth."

"Oh, thanks." Tracy looked away, trying to wipe away any excess stain on her own.

"You do realize that she could've just wiped it off on her own, right?" Jones glared at Roman.

"She's…a messy eater." Roman drawled, earning a light-hearted smack on the shoulder from said messy eater.

"Wanna see the picture Auntie Tsuki just shared with me?" Jenny showed everyone a picture of her baby cousins. One of which included January with her front bangs tied up.

"She's just the cutest." Rodissius unabashedly cooed at the baby pictures.

"Well if you put January's hair up, she looks more like Riker." Regina chimed in with a sly grin.

Tracy and Riker shared a look, shuddering in disgust at the idea of dating the other person. Apparently, Roman must have shared the exact same thought because he looked twice as horrified.

"Well, that just killed my appetite." Tracy grimaced.

"Me too." Roman frowned, pushing the plate away.

"Same." Riker nodded, standing up to leave. "If you need me, I will be throwing up."

As much as Doris tries to keep a calm attitude, something is definitely happening between her firstborn and Rodissius' eldest son.

They've always been close friends despite the age difference. There was an indescribable bond between Roman and Tracy, perhaps it's their introverted personalities or the fact they're the oldest among their siblings.

And yes, she knows about Rodissius hoping they'd be in-laws in the future.

But Tracy is young, and so is Roman. It's too soon for any romance to potentially blossom. She still hasn't finished high school or college yet, it's too early for her to go into a serious relationship.

Plus, there's the fact that Tracy's been crushing on Chase Davenport for the last 3 years. Yes, she saw a life size body pillow of Chase last year. (Tracy frantically explained that it was a prank from Bree) Yes, Doris knows that friendship is all there currently is between those two kids.

Doris knows more than she lets on. She is aware of how much her daughter seems to like Roman. It started as a platonic way, but over the years, there's been a shift in their friendship.

For instance: Doris pretends to not know that her daughter deliberately stole Roman's laundry from his previous sleepover (he slept in the guest room with Riker) and keeps parading around their home in Roman's old shirt. Yes, she saw her daughter pack that old shirt along as a nightshirt last night.

Roman likes taking care of those he knows. Nothing out of the ordinary, right?

Welp, up till just now at the campfire, Doris was proven very wrong.

Doris saw the way Roman was smiling and looking at Tracy while they were preparing dinner. It was tender and sweet. And who didn't notice the way he wiped the chocolate stains from Tracy's mouth…

As nice as the idea of Roman and Tracy dating sounds, they are still much too young. Perhaps it may change when they're slightly older. But for now, Doris is just gonna keep a closer eye on those two.

And maybe tell her husband about this. Here's hoping he won't get too mad, but right now it's just a possible puppy love forming between the two kids.

And that's a wrap for Part 3! Did you guys like this chapter? Yes, this story keeps getting merrier/crowded, but I just love that Big Family dynamic.

Chapter Talk: -

(1.) And we meet our Cameos: Jamie and her parents (Bernice and Greg)! (yes Great Defender is basically her dad in this timeline, fight me!) Because I miss writing Spamie and Fearsome Foursome content. Rodissius in my AUs acts as a Mentor figure to the current generation of adult superheroes, which honestly hits harsher in hindsight when Canon Events creep in. The Great Defender was one of his former/younger students.

(2.) I love writing about the Andrews siblings, each of them have their own unique traits and personalities that shine. Example: Rainey is the biggest Lethal Chef of the family that the universe throws a sign to prove a point. And it's fun seeing the Andrews kids befriend the Fearsome Foursome because they'd like each other's company.

(3.) Chelsey is from Austin and Ally (played by Sofia Carson) is mentioned here. Half the Andrews kids met her at some point and swooned over how pretty she is. With Tracy now out as bi, she now swoons over Chelsey just as much as the rest of the Andrews siblings did.

(4.) My Rodissius took one look at baby January and proudly declared "that's my grandbaby!" (I just spoiled you with my version of "Bionic House Party") In most of my AUs, the Andrews family latch onto baby January rather immediately because she's a sweet child who charms everyone. January has another brother (born in late 2016) named Jayden. Even if they're not Rocy's bio kids, they loved the two kids the same.

(5.) The chocolate wiping scene is based on DD AU's Valentine's Day chapter. It's also loosely based on Harper/Griffin's campfire scene in Secrets of Sulphur Springs season 1. Roman is the oldest and likes taking care of others. He just happens to like taking extra care of Tracy, totally platonic. He just finds her Lovely (yes, Roman canonically finds Tracy 'Lovely) in a platonically fond way.

(6.) Now even Doris is catching on the hints! She's a good mom to her kids. Despite being busy with work, Doris is aware of what's going on in her kids' lives (including love lives because Tracy is not very subtle), but plays it oblivious. In Unmasked, Doris/Frank are one of the best parental figures: they're nice to their kids' friends and often give sound advice to them when they need it. Where else did you think Tracy's 'Adopt, Don't Shop' came from when it comes to meeting kids?

That's all for today. Hope you've enjoyed reading, feel free to leave a comment down below and let me know your thoughts. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
