Hiccup woke up. He grunted and started to pry himself off of Toothless. The little bit of hair that Hiccup did have was making him stick to Toothless like velcro. He grit his teeth as his back seized up, stopping him from moving. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Maybe I'm not going anywhere." He sighed. "Toothless you up?"

"No." Toothless responded. "But I'm thinking about it." He laughed and craned his neck. "How you feeling there big guy?"

"Hey! That's my line." Hiccup complained.

"That may be true but I'm the one who's in a butt load of pain." The dragon chuckled. Hiccup sighed.

"Har de har. Your, ow, very funny."

"Hiccup are you okay? Do you need help?" Hiccup weakly nodded.

"I can't pull myself off of you. I can't bend my back. And i'm pretty sure that my legs are too weak to even carry me right now." Toothless tried to flip on his side.

"I might be too weak to even flip over. Sorry."

"So we're stuck here?" Hiccup asked.

"Well until one of us has enough strength to actually get up. We did go pretty crazy last night."

"Yeah but I think it was worth it. It was great." Hiccup sighed happily.

"I'm glad you had fun." Toothless chuckled again. "It was a night to remember for sure. I'm glad that we decided to come this year. This spot is really nice too. I think this is going to be our spot from now on."

"You're right. This is going to be our spot. I'm not giving up that hot spring for anything. I might not even trade it for you. It's that good."

"Well at least I know where I stand. You use me for my body and that's it."

"Oh shut up. I've given up enough for you already."

"Sorry." Toothless whispered. Hiccup sighed loudly.

"God. Toothless you know I'm kidding."

"I know. I know. It's just a sore spot. I don't like that you had to give up everything. I mean if size truly was the deciding factor, well guess what Hiccup. You're not exactly small. With the way you complain, I thought you were as big as you were going to get the day we met. But look at you. And besides that you're a great leader. And maybe you're right about the size thing but surely someone would see through that.

I bet you haven't even thought of other reasons why they might not think you'd be good for them. You don't exactly hate a lot of things, you're not particularly ruthless to your enemies, and ability to adapt to new things is way faster than they could. I only imagine all the lives you would and do save because of that. You're not going to be caught a step behind when people come up with new better weapons, better ships, better tactics because you're already a step ahead of that. But I can only imagine it. I'll tell you this. The Queen would be in a lot of trouble if you lead Berks forces."

"You're very optimistic Toothless."

"Why shouldn't I be? You still plan to get them to change their minds. So I have no reason to not be optimistic. If I'm not going to be the one who stands behind you then who will? If I'm not the one pushing you forward, after a set back who will? As much as I think it's a lost cause, I will push you forward and I'm going to make sure that you finish what you started. Every time you want to quit I'm going to remind you that it was your idea. And if you truly want to quit than I won't stop you, but I won't let you forget it. That doesn't mean that I won't understand. They haven't exactly been open minded about it, and there is that thing about killing two of them. So that isn't helping you either."

"What if I don't want to do that anymore?" Hiccup wondered.

"Do you not?"

"That isn't what I s1aid."

"If you don't that's fine by me. As much as I do want you to fulfill your dream, you shouldn't consider giving up on it a failure. It's dangerous, you're already losing and they think you're some sort of heretic. I will give you this though. If you do get them to change their minds, change who they are, than the feeling will be euphoric."

"Dramatic much Toothless?" Hiccup joked. He poked the dragon's side, making him squirm.

"Hey. I'm just sayin' It's going to be a great feeling.

"Yeah maybe. I think being with you is a way better feeling." Toothless rolled his eyes.

"So corny."

"Shut up." Hiccup laughed. They laid there for a while longer. Silently listening to each other's breathing, and the almost inaudible sound of Hiccup swirling his finger around on Toothless' side.

"Love you Hiccup." Toothless whispered.

"Love you too big guy." Hiccup mumbled. Hiccup worked up the strength to push himself off of the dragon's stomach. He fell gracelessly on the ground.

"Ow." Hiccup snorted. He pushed himself up on his elbow. Toothless rocked himself, flipping over. He slowly stood, shook, and stretched. His back popped.

"That felt really good." Toothless moaned.

"That sounded painful." Hiccup chuckled. He used Toothless to help him stand. He howled as his back screamed at him. "Gods! Next time you're bottom!" He started hobbling over to the hot spring.

"Be careful, I'm going start a fire then go hunting. I don't think that the meat on that deer is okay for you to eat anymore." Toothless grabbed the deer by the antler and started dragging it out of their spot.

"Yeah, it's pretty hot here. I think that's a good call." Hiccup slowly lowered himself into the water. Toothless walked over to him and licked his neck.

"Alright, i'll be back in a bit, don't fall asleep in there." He warned.

"I'll be fine." Hiccup reassured his dragon friend. Toothless ran off into the forest. Hiccup closed his eyes and laid his head back. Minutes passed before he heard someone get into the water with him.

"Where is your dragon friend?" The familiar female voice asked. Hiccup jumped in his skin. His eyes flew open to look at the woman who helped them years ago.

"U-uhm, why, why are you here?" Hiccup stuttered.

"Not fair human. I asked a question first.".

"He's hunting. He-e should be back soon. Now what do you want?"

"It's fine human.I guess you're not really human anymore. Whatever. I just came to see how you two were doing. Seeing how you're adjusting to being what you are." Hiccup's stomach dropped at her last sentence.

"I'm, it's, I, I'm fine. I'm learning a lot. Trying to figure things out. Trying to figure myself out, still." He whispered.

"You know what you are. What are you trying to figure out?" She was confused.

"I don't know. I'm the only one like this, I don't know what to do. Even my own people give me weird looks, new additions avoid me."

"You know that the answer to your question has been in front of you for years right?"

"What? What do you mean?"

"Your mate is the only one of his kind. I bet if you asked him how to deal with being the only one, he'd give you some answer." She moved next to Hiccup and poked him in the chest. "You may be the only one like you, but he's the only one like him. He's as different as you. I bet that you haven't ever thought of that, have you?"
