Hiccup slept well on their way home. Toothless made sure that he was as quiet as possible so he wouldn't wake him up. He thought the boy deserved a good rest. Toothless stayed near the middle of the pack, letting those more eager to get home lead the way. He lazily swooped pulled back near the last quarter of the pack, filled with mostly new dragons following their new pack to their new home. He spotted some old faces that were also enjoying the flight home.

Two new faces flanked him. They looked him over and wondered about Hiccup sleeping on his back.

"Is he okay? That seems dangerous." The one to his left commented. Toothless chuckled to himself.

"It's not the safest thing in the world, but he's been riding me for years. This is much less dangerous than some of the other stuff we've done. So I'm not too worried about it."

"Is he really our alpha?" The dragon his his right asked.

"One of them." Toothless stated.

"But how? What did he do?" The right dragon asked again.

'Me' Toothless thought, and smiled a little. "He's been through a lot to get here. He's been through a hell that I wouldn't even wish onto The Red Queen. But it's shaped him into what he is today. Kind, generous, willing to put himself in front of everyone else, and will stick his neck out for you a thousand times before learning not to, but even that may not stop him. But don't think you can sneak anything passed him. He may not look it, but he's still human, well some of him. But that means he will notice if something's wrong. He's a danger to anyone who goes up against him. He may not like to fight, but be prepared to die if you pick one with him.

Like all other humans, his greatest asset is the ability to adapt. Even the dumbest human can learn how to at least survive an attack. Hiccup is far from that. He already knows how to survive. He's studied each of us, learning basic weaknesses and strengths. All he has to do in a fight, is see how you attack, see how you move, and he's going to exploit it until you surrender, or your blood runs cold over the stones of Helheim's Gate. So I wouldn't get any ideas if I were you. But if you wish to spare with him, I'm sure if you wager something he'll think about it."

"What could we offer? We don't have anything. How would we get anything?" The one to Toothless' left asked.

"Some of the more brave souls here sneak into villages and take things. Hiccup doesn't like it but he won't stop you. And if you do plan to, you must tell him."

"Why?"

"Because he needs to tell you the same thing everyone else is told when they do it."

"What's that?"

"If you get caught, you're alone. Nobody is coming for you. There is no rescue party. Until you come back, you are not a part of our pack.

If you are successful in returning whatever you stole is yours. food , fabric, materials, tools. They're all yours, and you may keep them, or trade them with others.

But. And it's a big one. No one steals from his old human village. Berk. It's much too dangerous and is just a suicide mission. Yet that isn't a complete truth either. Some of those around you are allowed to take from Berk. They've proven themselves very capable in not being caught. If you truly want to be like them, have the most dangerous job we have available, find the group that is allowed to scout Berk. You are not allowed to join them but I'm sure if you ask nicely they'll tell you how you can start your path. If you make enough of an impression and one of them speaks to Hiccup on your behalf, it's likely that you'll be assigned to it.

Don't get any smart ideas either. Don't follow them out there and think they'll protect you. They're a tight knit group and if you don't belong to them they won't help you."

"I thought you said no one will help you if you get into trouble."

"You're right, I did. No one from Helheim's Gate is going to go out to help. But groups of scouts will help each other.

Helheim is kinda set up like a human village. In which we are a big community that has smaller families that make up that community. This is somewhat literal and not. We allow you to split into your species groups. We think that is the safest option over all. It assures that there isn't some misunderstanding culturally that could cause issues. Though much like many things at Helheim there are exceptions to this. You can join any species group you'd like, and we have a group whose sole purpose is to mix species together. It's mostly for the younger dragons who haven't learned or don't care about the 'things that other species do that are wrong'. That being said there are more than a couple older dragons who are in that group. But let's say you don't want to be in that group and you don't want to be in your species group, but you do want to be in a group than you're almost on your own. Much like the scouts there are things that cannot separate two people. Doesn't matter age, sex, species, there are some who won't leave each others side for any reason other than death. For example we have a Nadder and Terror who will not be more than ten feet from each other. The Nadder, a female, is nearly two-hundred years old, Her mate died a long time ago after an accident left him unable to fly. The Terror, who's male, and around 17 years old, also cannot fly. One of his wings didn't grow properly and is too small to support him. So now she brings him with her wherever they go. Funnily enough she lives with the Terrors. Which has given her some advantages.

In species groups there is a leader. This leader reports to Hiccup or myself with information. Which allows us to monitor and help, if needed. They also come to us when they need things or assistence on something. So in the case of that Nadder, there is a Terror leader. But more often than not, she and her companion are the ones who come to us for them. Because of her size difference and the way she acts, she's considered very powerful to them. And she is. She's considered a motherly figure to them and she takes that very seriously. If someone picks on them you better expect a fight. Last time someone messed with them, she nearly blinded the guy. He was lucky Hiccup was there to take the spines out. Otherwise he would have said bye-bye to that eye."
