"Hiccup looked around, ignoring the Nadder who had called him out. He looked up at his home, where his dragon was sleeping. Hoping that Toothless had got up and was looking down on him. He felt so naked without Toothless watching his back. But he knew that at least a few dragons wouldn't let anything happen to him. When he was happy with everything he began.

"Welcome everyone." He started to walk in a small circle as he spoke. "I hope you all had a good mating season. For those of you who didn't find one or have one, there is always next year.

So with that out of the way, I'm happy to see all the new faces. Our growth was enormous. But with giant growth, comes potential issue. But if we work together, work hard, and work smart, we'll make it through without any issue. This is where you all come in. We will need more fishers and more hunters. We'll have to expand our regions and reach further than ever before. And we will have to be more careful than ever before.

So what I need from you is to find where you fit. Whether that be hunting, fishing, scouting, or gathering resources, like wood or iron. It where you feel like you're most effective.

There are some jobs that are off limits to some of you. Things like the riskier scouting groups that watch active villages. You are not allowed to join them unless specifically asked or pushed for it. If you wish for one of those positions, talk and join one of the not as threatening scouting groups, then push, strive, and impress. The scout team leaders and I talk all the time about potential move ups and you could be one of those people who gets to move up. Another example are the funnily enough another set of scouting groups. Our high altitude, long flying scout groups are off limits to smaller species and even some larger ones like, Nadders and Nightmares. I know that doesn't sound fair to some of you. But you must understand that to be able to fulfil that job you must be able to fly for more than a day without a break, or eating. On top of that you fly at such high altitudes that most of the time the clouds are beneath you. Plus you must stay vigilant and be able to convey any potential danger effectively so that one of your party can come warn the rest of us with what you've found. That is why only some are allowed to join those groups. But of course there are always exceptions. If you believe you can do it right away, you must prove yourself. You may speak to on of the heads and ask for a chance. If they are impressed they may let you join right there. But if you fail you must start from the beginning.

That's the same for all groups. To join any of the jobs you will be taught how to do your job to the best of your abilities. Each species will be taught how to best use what they have available to them. Nadders, Nightmares, and Buffalord do not hunt in the same way. You will train to be able to carry what you kill. It may not seem like much but carrying hundreds of pounds of odd shaped weight can cause issues over a long distance. You don't want to lose yours, and a few others dinners to the sea. Don't freak out about that though. Even the best have lost one or two because of that. It is why we train.

Similarly our fishing groups do a similar routine. Many if you know how to fish for one or maybe two or three. But you fish for more than ten others and you must be able to carry all that back with you. Luckily unlike your hunting friends most of you will be able to share a load with a net. But even that requires some training. It may not seem that difficult but it's a little more involved than you think.

This year I am also looking into starting a chicken coup and potentially a small farm for growing various things. I haven't really thought that far on that yet, and it would take a lot of work. But in a few months or maybe even weeks, depending on how everything is going, we will be looking into those things a little more. If one, or both, succeed, I will be looking for people to fill jobs on those two things." Hiccup looked around again. "I know that this place isn't like the others. I know that all of this must be very odd to a lot of you. But if you give it a chance, I think that most, if not all of you will learn to like, if not love this place.

I thank you for giving us a chance. Thank you and goodnight." He turned to face the Dusty and Color. "I'm heading back up. If anyone needs me, you'll know where to send them."

"Speaking of that, how's he looking? Anything new?" Color asked. Hiccup sighed.

"To be honest, I don't really know. His wing is healing but he won't wake up. At this point I'm wondering if something else happened when we lost control. Maybe he hit his head or something and I didn't notice. I just don't know and I'm starting to worry. It's only been a few days but… It shouldn't have been any days, is the problem. I know that I just have to wait, but it's hard, yuh know?" HIccup sighed again. "I'll see you both later. Oh, Color. Tell me when you decide to head out, I have some things that I'd like for you to get me next time you're out there." She nodded.

Hiccup began the arduous climb back up towards his shelf. When he finally got there he found that Toothless had flipped over to his other side. He thanked the gods that Toothless was at least moving a little. Hiccup sat down next to the large creature. Resting his back against the dragon's stomach.

"I hope you get up soon. I'm already really starting to miss you. At least give me something to cling to, a sign or something. It would go a long way right now."
