"Thanks dad. I never really thought about it like that before." Hiccup smiled a little.

"Alright son, my last question is, If we did start a fight how long until Berk crumbles?" Stoick crossed his arms. Hiccup paused for a second.

"Do you really want to know that?" Stoick looked at his son.

"What I want to know is, how long would I have to get people to safety?. And I want to know just how you would attack? Or do you already know how to you'd do it?"

"Are you sure you want to know this, but you may not like what you hear." Hiccup warned. Stoick Nodded. "You'd have an hour, two tops. And that's only if I was feeling generous." Stoick grit his teeth.

"How would you do it?" Stoick growled.

"I have three Whispering Deaths in my pack. One of them is in the scouting party for Berk and already has tunnels every which way under this part of the archipelago, under Berk. He's sitting under the house right now listening for any disturbance.

So I could easily move the other two here as well. One is at Dagur's village and one is back at Helheim. One could be here in a matter of hours and the other, half a day. So all I'd have to do it sit back and watch Berk be cast into the ocean. There would be no rebuilding Berk after that. But I won't allow them to sink the great hall. You can use that as your shelter. And while I'm sure my word means nothing to you now, I promise that the great hall will remain intact, and no one inside will be hurt."

"You've got me in a corner here Hiccup."

"Listen it's not like I want you there. I just want to keep my people safe. And if that means that I have to fight and kill, then I will. You may not understand why I live with dragons, or why they trust me enough to let me lead them. But I do, and they do. So I'm sorry if you feel threatened, but it's what I have to do to make sure that you won't get any ideas.

I mean the only reason you asked how long would it take until Berk's defeat was so that you could think of a way to fight back. So now you're saying that I've backed you into a corner because the time frame I gave you would make it impossible to do anything about. Not to mention that it would be impossible to stop.

That's why you feel that way. Because you're in a situation you can't do anything about." Hiccup could see his father grinding his teeth. Already trying to come up with a solution.

"Just think." Stoick sighed. "If you hadn't felt forced to go with them. You could have lead us into a new era."

"I still could." Hiccup interrupted.

"No. We're stuck in our ways and you know that. Plus everyone here thinks you're a traitor and you killed one of ours. So, even if I was willing to give you a chance it would be harder to convince them than me."

"So you'd be willing to try?"

"Your mother always told me that I need to accept certain changes in my life. Then she told me she was pregnant so, I didn't have much choice there. But I got the son I wanted, even if it didn't turn out exactly as planned. And while I don't understand how, or why, he left to live with those devil's. But as it turns out he's the leader he was always meant to be." They both sat quiet, completely stunned. Both averting their gazes. Stoick cleared his throat. "Uhm, well if you want, you can go up to your old room and take what you want. I don't have any need for it."

"I'm, uh, yeah I, I'll do that, uhm thanks." Hiccup slowly stood up and on Shaky legs crawled up the steep stairs to his old room. Toothless was right behind him, just incase Hiccup's legs gave out.

Hiccup slowly opened the door and found that nothing had moved, and a nice layer of dust coated everything.

Stoick followed them inside with a candle. Lighting a couple of the old ones that hadn't been used in years. Slowly the room shuddered to life. Hiccup walked up to his old desk and opened some of the drawers and picked up an old notebook. He looked at the cover and dusted it off. He turned to his dad and tossed it to him.

"If you wish to learn more about some of the dragons that live around you, read that. It's not really up to date, I've learned a lot more about all the species but it's better then The Book of Dragons."

While Hiccup was digging through the desk, Toothless was examining Hiccup old Bed.

"Hey, Hiccup come look at this. There's a bunch of things on you bed." Toothless called out.

"What do you mean things?" Hiccup asked while walking over. "Dad what are these?"

"There gifts. You've missed a few Birthdays and Snoggletogs so they've been piling up."

"You've been getting me gifts?" Hiccup picked on of the wrapped gifts up and shook it.

"They're not from me. Although you are no longer my son, you will always be your mother's. So she gets you gifts still."

Hiccup turned around and started to neatly unwrap the paper.

"That's very thoughtful of her. I hope you'll tell her that I appreciate it, and that I'm sorry that things have turned out this way. In another world we'd all live happily here on Berk." Hiccup finished unwrapping the gift. "I hope she understands that I do enjoy the life I have. I get to do all the things that make me happy. I get to meet new and interesting people all the time. I get to freely travel wherever I want." He paused for a second. He hands trembled just thinking about it. "And I found someone who is willing to do it all with me." Toothless walked up behind his human and sat down. He pushed snout against the back of Hiccup's neck.

"Even here you can't help but talk about us." Toothless joked. Hiccup blushed. He took some deep breaths to calm himself down.

"Dad if you'd like, I could look for mom. I have the power to look around, and ask a lot of questions. I could give you any of the information that I find to you. If you want. I know that you always wondered what happened."
