Hiccup handed Toothless one of bags again.
"Let's head to the cove." With the other bag in hand he climbed onto Toothless' back and were swiftly off. Hiccup mindlessly watched the trees whizz by, not thinking of anything, just feeling an odd calmness he wasn't expecting. He felt a couple of seconds of weightlessness then a soft landing.
"We're here." Toothless announced. Hiccup climbed off and went around to the front of Toothless and grabbed the bag out of his mouth. He placed both bags at his feet then immediately shot back up to hug Toothless around the neck. It startled Toothless a little but he reciprocated and wrapped one of his forelegs around Hiccup's back.
"Scary huh?" Toothless whispered. Hiccup nodded into the crook of his neck. "At least we can say that your dad isn't our biggest threat anymore. Ever think that you'd be able to scare Stoick The Vast? At the end there he seemed cautious to say anything that would annoy you a little." He chuckled.
"Do you really think that I scared my dad that bad?" Hiccup wondered, thinking that he'd hurt the relationship with his dad further. Toothless thought for a second.
"No, but, I don't think he'll be trying to go to our home anytime soon. I think that you gave him everything he wanted and more and now he has to think about his next move. And right now I think he thinks there is no reason to mess with us anymore. That we've grown too much and have too many numbers for him to simply think he'd be able to outsmart or out number us. We've shown him that he needs to respect us as a real force if he decides that we are not welcome on this earth.
It's pretty funny if you think about it. All this power and respect you demand has made you the leader he always wanted you to be. It just had to be someone else to show you how to get there. I'd bet you that as the Chief of Berk he is scared, at least a little. But as you father he's proud of you… I'm proud of you."
Hiccup let go, choked up. Toothless looked up at the nearly cloudless sky and smile.
"Over the years I've watched you mature physically, sexually, and mentally." He looked at Hiccup move to sit on a rock. "You're not that scared little stick anymore. I don't know if you noticed but you're only about half a head shorter than you dad, and you've got the weight and muscle to backup your size." Toothless began to pace around the rock. "You've gone through change after change, and broken barrier after barrier, and done the impossible over and over." Toothless stopped in front of Hiccup and started him in the eye. "You're always wondering, who you are, or what you are. Well, Hiccup, here you are." He sat down. "You're Hiccup. A human who got half transformed into a dragon. You're Hiccup. A great leader, an amazing friend, and a fantastic lover. You're everything you've ever wanted to be. The only thing you can't be is a true part of your old village. But is that really so bad?
I know you don't like hearing that but what I saw tonight changed my view on your goal. I'm still going to tell you that you shouldn't get your hopes up. But what happened tonight or more accurately what didn't is a great sign. I know that I haven't been supportive of your goal and have tried to be your voice of reason. While I will still be that voice, I'm completely on your side now. I finally saw what you did all that time ago. They can be changed, or at least accept that we aren't their enemy." Toothless softly smiled as Hiccup sat in stunned silence. He wanted to do a thousand things in that moment. Laugh, cry, jump up and down. He settled on trying to stand. His legs shook and when his knee gave out Toothless caught him like always.
Toothless felt hot against his skin. He hadn't realized how cold he was until he was laying against his dragon.
"Could you start a fire?" Hiccup whispered. Toothless lifted Hiccup so he could sit on the rock again then set out to collect wood. Hiccup laughed as he watched Toothless return dragging an entire tree behind him. "Why are you like this?" He laughed.
"Like what?" He dropped the tree and approached Hiccup.
"You know."
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't. Why don't you say it for me?" He brushed against Hiccup and wrapped around behind him. He nipped at Hiccup's shoulder. He blew hot breath over his human, and watched goose bumps quickly spread all over his body. Hiccup moaned and shivered.
"Toothless, we should wait until after we eat."
"Your mouth says wait but something else is saying it wants attention." He chuckled. Hiccup jumped up and covered himself. "Woah, Hiccup it's okay I was just teasing you. We can wait."
"No, no. Oh gods. I was naked in front of my dad."
"So?"
"Oh, gods. He could see everything. He saw everything." Hiccup's skin was cherry red from head to toe.
"I guess I just don't understand." Toothless admitted.
"He saw my… stuff." Hiccup could barely bring himself to say that.
"Hiccup everyone at home sees your 'stuff' everyday. Some of us even get to touch it."
"Ew, no Toothless. Ughh. It-It's different for humans."
"Your not exact human you know." Toothless reminded him.
"Yeah but my…"
"Stuff."
"Yeah. It's human. I can't hide it like you."
"I wonder if that's why I'm more active than the rest." He wondered out loud.
"Toothless this is not the time for that." Hiccup yelled.
"Yeah but, it's so interesting. We have sex a lot more than anyone else at home. They 'have' to wait until mating season."
"Toothless!" Hiccup screeched.
"Just let me finish." He chuckled to himself. "But we can do it at any point, I think it's because you're, were, human. Humans get to do it whenever they want. I'll tell you what, it's really nice not having to wait for a couple weeks a year just to be with my mate."
"Toothless can we talk about this problem now, instead of thinking about how lucky you are. I could easily make you wait too."
"No you couldn't. You like it just as much as I do. You never have and probably never will pass up a chance for us to be together. That's probably why some of the others envy our relationship."
"Okay, but seriously Toothless. I was naked in front of my dad."
"Gods above, Hiccup, it obviously didn't matter. He didn't say anything, he didn't look disgusted, he didn't try to give any hints to try to get you to realize. He didn't…" Toothless took a deep breath. "Look Hiccup, I think it's time to stop trying to fight what you are. And before you say anything just, let me say this. Hiccup the reason your dad didn't say anything is because he saw a dragon. You're not human anymore. I know that it's been extremely hard for you to accept that you're not what you were born as, but it's time that you just embrace it. You'll always be my human, I promise. But the only thing making it so you can't accept it, is because you're stuck halfway. If you hadn't been changed or were able to go the whole way, it would be easy. You're a dragon, you're human. My problem is that if we take out what you look like and take into consideration your life, and the way you live. You're not human at all. If we took someone we didn't know and blindfolded them, then described to them where you lived and what your average day was, there is no way they would say you're human." Toothless stood up and took a couple of steps forward, in return Hiccup took a few back. "I see. Listen Hiccup the reason your dad didn't say anything is because he saw a dragon come into his home and ask for advice. And while you may still look a lot like you did, you're not the same Hiccup you were before." He paused. "I'm sorry, if you're angry at me. But that's the way I feel about the situation. I'll continue to help and accept whatever decision you come to, but I needed to say something."
Hiccup stood for a second then ran around to the other side of the pond. He saw Hiccup sit at it's shore and stare blankly into the water. While he waited for Hiccup, Toothless broke up the tree and started a fire. Afterwards, from his side of the pond, he looked for fish. He would try to dive into the water as smoothly as he could so that he wouldn't send to many ripples in Hiccup direction. Toothless caught a good haul before stopping. He waited by the fire, watching Hiccup, and their surroundings incase of an attack.
Eventually Hiccup did stand again and started back over to Toothless' side of the pond.
