Polite and civil conversation between each leader was nice to see. Hiccup greeted them all individually. And universally agreeing to speak with them all about they're various needs and requests. The others following behind quickly grouped up and were watching Hiccup talk with the various dragons.
Two more quickly swooshed by chasing after one another. Snapping and scratching at each other. Hiccup took a second to see if the two were actually fighting but when he heard them laughing he let go of the breath he was holding. Glad he didn't need to clear up a real issue. Both of them soon landed as well happy to great their alphas.
"Who's missing?" Hiccup asked. He looked around for missing faces. Kind stepped up behind him.
"Snap Trapper's and Smoke breaths' are currently not here. The Snap Trapper's should be home soon. Later tonight. The others? You know how they are, they'll be back when their back. Bringing new things for you to use I'm sure. Otherwise everyone is here." Kind informed.
"Thank you." Hiccup took a step forward then turned around. He held out his arms.
"Well this is everyone who helps me keep this place under control. Each of these dragons was selected to represent their species. Without them." He turned around again to look at them. "This place would be chaos." He took a couple steps towards Kind and grabbed one of his horns. "And people like Kind here," He swiftly moved to Color's side. "And Color," He pointed to Dusty. "And Dusty, who all help keep things running smooth when I'm busy or need help." He ran and barreled himself into Toothless' side. "And this one. What couldn't I say about this one. Come heavy winters and gods of trickery. This one's been there since the beginning. I have to idea why he didn't leave when he had the chance." The other dragon's chuckled.
Stoick squinted his eyes. "Can they understand us?" Hiccup stood up straight.
"Some of them can. I speak with them in both ours and your tongue. And since the scouts are so close they listen to you and learn quickly. When they come back they try to teach each other but it seems that they can't make any of the noises to create words. Some of them can get pretty close and even make a word or two but that's as far as they've gotten.
All these dragons I speak Norse with at all times. It's hard on the throat to speak dragonese."
"Dragonese?" Stock raised an eyebrow.
"I swear to you, that's what they call they're language. Anyway half the time Toothless translates for me. He can completely understand you. So if you need anything you can speak with all of these dragons but you'll have the most success with Toothless."
"How'd you manage to get him to understand you fully?"
Hiccup raised his tail and flicked it unhappily.
"A lot happened in that forest you burnt our house down in. Equally terrible and amazing." Hiccup crossed his arms. Toothless nudged him, which relaxed him.
"That was a long time ago. Those times are behind us." Toothless soothed.
"I know bud, I know. It's just bad memories."
"Oh I know. Never make me bite off any part of you again." Hiccup hummed.
"It's so you wouldn't starve. As much."
"I wish I could understand putting everyone else's needs in front of your own."
"Toothless you know all I want to do is help the dragons. Even if it takes pieces from me. And you take care of all my other needs." Hiccup hip checked his dragon. Toothless shook his head. Hiccup circled around and looked into his mate's eyes. His heart swelled like every time he looked at Toothless and had to hold himself back from going under his chin and hugging him. Instead he ripped himself away and again walking in front of the various leaders. "Thank you all for coming up here. Please inform your species of our guests and that I will not tolerate any aggression against them. They are here as a neutral party and are unarmed. You're dismissed." Hiccup waved them off as they made their ways out. Though a few stuck around to see what was going to happen next. Hiccup stepped in front of the group not humans.
"I know that was quick and the more adventurous of you didn't get a chance to meet with any of them personally. But there are many more and if you're lucky you might even befriend one." Hiccup laughed. "But for now we should find places for you all to sleep. I know many of you are likely to return to your ship to sleep but again for those wishing to fully embrace this experience, we have many places that would… Tolerate your staying there. And by tolerate I really mean want to learn about you. If you do want to do something like that please don't tell them how many of them you've killed. It might make them defensive. You don't want that. Otherwise connect with them. They're social creatures after all." The Nightmare leader walked up behind Hiccup.
"We will accept any who wish for sleeping area." He whispered. Hiccup reached up and scratched the Nightmare's snout. He walked off and was immediately replaced by the Nadder's leader.
"We will also accept the more adventurous." She cackled and flew off.
"Well it seems that you already have offers for sleeping areas. How lucky?" Hiccup chuckled. "For those of you who want to sleep in our home and don't wish for it to be with them, I offer you a spot with Toothless and I. We have plenty of room in our spot." Hiccup stood for a minute. "I don't really have anything else to say so feel free to explore. I doubt you'll make it very far but still with how much everyone wants to see you, but still." Hiccup walked over to Toothless. "Would you get some people to bring up some wood so that I could continue my boxes please.
"You're going to be fine without me here?" Toothless rubbed himself against Hiccup.
"I'll be fine. Even if they do attack, I'll be able to get away, and they're stuck here. And there is no way for them to hide." Hiccup reassured.
"I'll be back soon then. Please be careful." Toothless walked off. Hiccup went over to his planters to check them. "You're all free to leave have to leave, or I'll answer your questions. But I need to take care of this." Stoick walked over to Hiccup and checked what he was doing.
"What are you growing?" Stoick asked.
"Whatever I can get."
