Chapter 5- A visit to Hogsmeade
"Why are you dragging me like I am cattle to be dragged around, Narcissa?" Evelyn Greengrass groaned at her friend.
"I can walk perfectly well, thank you very much." She pointed out. For some reason, her friend was excited and she was finding it hard to keep up with the girl who was bouncing on her feet, figuratively speaking of course.
"Remind me again. Why are you so excited to go to this boring old place that we have been to lots of and dragging me along for Merlin sake?" She questioned.
"Oh be quiet, Evelyn." Narcissa rolled her eyes at her friend. "Today is a very special occasion. We need to get to Hogsmeade very quickly." She explained.
"But why?" Her friend whined softly.
"No reason in particular. Just a surprise for you." Evelyn huffed. "You are behaving in a very weird manner, Narcissa."
"Now shut up. Let us have breakfast and be off. We won't have a lot of time."
They arrived at the Great Hall. Despite being a Sunday, the Hall was filled with students. The reason being the Hogsmeade weekends. These weekends are the only time that the students get to leave the castle and spend some time outside.
The two of them sat down at the Slytherin table next to Andromeda. Andromeda frowned at her sister's appearance. "Why are you all dressed up just to go to Hogsmeade?" She questioned suspiciously.
Narcissa smiled. "Does a lady need an occasion to dress up? Come now Andromeda. You know me better than that."
"No. It's just that, you seem to have dressed up for something or someone. Are you trying to impress someone?" Narcissa smirked. Her arrogant smirk was back in full force.
She looked around the hall, her eyes roaming on each and every table. She noticed a lot of boys staring at her. She turned back to her sister.
"Look at them." She nodded. "I don't need to impress someone, Andromeda. They are all impressed and obsessed by Narcissa Black. You think that I need to dress up for these fools?"
"That sounds arrogant." Andromeda frowned. Narcissa nodded. "It is not arrogance when it is backed up by the truth, Andi. Many call it so. They say that Narcissa Black is arrogant. They say that I am a bitch. They say that I am a pureblood snob who looks down on the rest. Yes I am." She admitted.
"But at the same time, I can see it in their eyes. Every girl wants to be me. Every boy in this castle wants to be with me. They fantasize about me. If that is the case, why should I want to impress these sheeps?"
Andromeda couldn't find a fault in her sister's words. Her words were true. Her sister was the most eligible female in all of Britain at the moment. She was intelligent, extremely beautiful, and dangerous with a wand. A perfect pureblood princess. A warrior princess.
She knew the amount of offers she received as marriage proposals. Pureblood heirs from a number of countries want her to be wedded into their families. It was not accepted by her grandfather of course, but she still knew that it was impressive.
"Are you coming with us?" She questioned her sister and her friend stood up. Andromeda shook her head. "No, my friends will be coming soon and I will be going with them. You can go ahead." Narcissa nodded. "Of course, Andromeda. I will see you soon."
The two Slytherins left the castle. They made their way amongst the crowd as they all seemed to be in a rush to leave the castle.
Summer was just over the horizon. The cold that seemed to be set upon Scotland. It was good. Narcissa didn't like these Scottish winters. Hogwarts tends to get extremely cold during the winter and the same follows till the onset of summer.
"It is a good thing that the cold is moving on. I just hate the Scottish winters." Evelyn muttered as she pulled her robe closer to try and warm herself. "Yes. I was about to say the same." Narcissa whispered.
They made their way towards the Honeydukes sweet store. Narcissa looked around as if she was anticipating someone. She looked towards her friend.
"Is my hair fine?" She asked, brushing her golden blonde locks with her gloved hand.
Evelyn had enough. "Narcissa!? What is wrong with you? Why are you behaving like a silly girl? Who are you trying to meet?" She asked a bit forcefully.
"I don't see looking beautiful as being silly." A deep masculine voice broke the two from their conversation. Evelyn Greengrass jumped at the voice and turned around quickly, her wand in her hand which pressed into the person's chest.
"Ouch! Your friend is very hostile, Narcissa, I wonder why?"
Narcissa smiled brilliantly at the person, her eyes alight with amusement.
"Hello, Harry."
Evelyn Greengrass squeaked when she heard the name. A squeak that Narcissa was sure would scandalize her mother. They both looked into the handsome face and burning emerald eyes of Lord Harry Potter Black.
Evelyn dropped her wand in shock and her face burned brightly in embarrassment.
"What is the matter, Evelyn? Cat got your tongue?" Narcissa smirked.
"Forgive me, Lord Potter Black. You might think bad of me." She curtsied politely, still blushing at the warm smile on his face.
Harry reached out to the young woman's hand and placed a small kiss on her knuckles.
"Not at all, Ms Greengrass. In fact I admire your actions. That was a beautiful display of vigilance. One, dare I say, would impress Moody himself. I commend your actions. And please, Harry is fine." He smiled at the girl who was finding it extremely difficult to get a hold on her blushes.
Harry then turned back to Narcissa, his eyes shining brilliantly as he took in the girl. The cold had caused her cheeks to flush and her eyes were shining like the ocean on a sunny day. Her hair, as perfect as always.
"You look wonderful, Narcissa." He smiled as the girl's eyes danced with joy. She stood on her toes and kissed his cheek, lingering a little longer than what was necessary.
"I am so glad that you managed to make some time and come here." She smiled at him.
"No, it is fine. I wanted to see how the famous Hogsmeade was. I did get a good view of the castle though. It was just brilliant."
"You would be surprised at how beautiful it looks from the boats that the first years take. I have never seen something so good in my life."
"Truly?" Harry questioned, but in truth, reminiscing the beautiful sight that he too had witnessed when he had sat in those very boats.
"Yes." Narcissa confirmed, with Evelyn agreeing to her statements.
"So, shall we?" Harry asked as he held out his arm which Narcissa immediately latched onto.
"Uhm…I think that I will see the two of you later…"Evelyn muttered as she tried to step away.
"I don't mind you coming with us, Evelyn." Narcissa replied. "This is not a date. Not yet." She looked up into his eyes and smirked. That damn superior smirk of hers.
Harry's mind rushed back to the things he used to do to wipe that superior smirk of her face. Not that she complained. The naughty things that she would do would put many youngsters to shame. Daphne herself was an example. He quelled his thoughts. Now was not the time to think about that.
"Yet, huh?" Narcissa nodded. "Of course. Now shush. Let us get going." She took a bargain over there. She glanced towards the young man, trying to gauge his reaction at being teased and in front of another person.
She was pleasantly surprised by his reaction. He chuckled and shook his head, but dutifully allowed her to lead him. Narcissa decided that this man was pure gold and she should own him.
'Narcissa Potter.' Yes, it held a nice ring to it. She would soon start hatching plans to snare him.
She let her eyes roam over Harry. He was tall. So very tall, but she molded perfectly, right until his neck. She would fit so perfectly in his embrace, she was absolutely sure of it. She suddenly felt the craving to be embraced tightly by him. She grinned mischievously and her face suddenly took on a deep frown.
"I feel cold, Harry." She shuddered, trying to pull her robes closer to her body. Harry went to remove his jacket, but she shook her head. "No. That is a man's clothing. I am Narcissa Black. I need to be perfect in my appearance." She sniffed, crossing her arms and after a moment, her pink lips pursed in a small pout taking him by surprise.
"Do something." She muttered. Harry was lost for a few seconds but then he raised his wand and conjured a sweater for her.
Narcissa nodded before accepting the sweater and putting it on. Harry, being the gentleman he was, conjured one for Evelyn as well.
"Thank you…Harry." Evelyn replied gratefully, before shooting a glare at Narcissa.
"She just pulled me out of the castle without letting me grab something warm." She accused Narcissa.
"I still feel the cold." Narcissa shivered slightly, and then lifted Harry's hand and placed it around her waist and pressed closer to him. "Now this is better." She smirked at her friend and shot a wink at her, before leading him on.
Harry's thoughts were racing by the minute. He knew Narcissa would try and woo him and according to him, she was doing a wonderful job. He was coming close to losing his control.
How can anybody blame him?
Narcissa was sexy as hell and with her wonderful figure pressed close to his, her breasts touching his side, her hand teasing him by drawing circles on his shirted chest. Her wonderful scent filled his head.
Now Harry was a hot blooded male. He had needs like many other men. He had both Daphne and Narcissa to spend time with sexually. Here, his fiancee had lost her memory and his mistress was younger than him and knew nothing about their relationship from the past.
Narcissa was making it extremely difficult for him to concentrate. His hand threatened to grab her wonderful behind. He needed to get himself in control. He was shown around the village by Narcissa. Honeydukes, Zonkos. He was reminded of his own visits to the village during his schooling.
"Do you need anything?" Harry asked. Narcissa thought for a while. "Not really. All my supplies are still intact and I am good for a few more months. I think I can do with some sweets, though." She replied, dragging him with her to Honeydukes.
"Sweets?" He asked with raised eyebrows. He was not surprised. He knew that she loved sweets. He had brought her a lot of sweets and if there was one thing that would render her selfish, sweets did that trick.
The place that was swarmed with students went quiet all of a sudden when he stepped in. He felt like banging his head on the entrance door, but he was not a kid anymore. He is an adult now, and he must behave accordingly. And moreover, after so many years of being pointed to, stared at and talked about, he felt all the attention insignificant.
"Have you informed my brother or his friends that I am here?" Narcissa shook her head.
"None. Evelyn didn't know until you announced yourself. Andromeda knows that I am meeting someone, but she doesn't know who I am meeting." Harry nodded.
He let his eyes wander around the shop when his eyes met with another pair of grey eyes staring at him with hatred. He was surprised by the emotions in the eyes, until he noticed who it was. Blonde hair, a permanent sneer on his face, an aura of plain arrogance backed up by nothing but the feel of superiority.
"Who is that bloke?" Harry questioned Narcissa even though he knew who it was. Narcissa followed his line of sight and her eyes narrowed at the boy in question.
"Lucius Malfoy." Harry hummed at her answer.
"What is the matter? You seem particularly vindictive." He said, noticing the fury on her face.
"That idiot, put a hand on me and without my permission." She felt Harry's grip tighten on her waist. "What?" Narcissa shivered, but this was for a completely different reason. Harry's tone was cold and had a slightly scary edge to it. One that she didn't know nor heard of.
She went on to explain about their confrontation a few days back. She noticed that his expression became harsher with every word and his eyes began to glow slightly.
Harry nodded after hearing her words.
"Come on. Get what you want." Harry walked around with the girl as she made her way looking at what she needed. As expected from Harry, Lucius Malfoy and his friends made their way to the girl.
"Narcissa?" Malfoy spoke. "You snubbed my offer for a date stating that you were busy and won't be attending. What are you doing here?"
Narcissa continued to ignore the boy as she just went about making her purchase.
"I am speaking to you, Narcissa. Answer me!" He demanded, his face flushing with anger. When she continued to ignore him, he felt slighted. Especially in front of so many people.
He went to grab the girl by her shoulder. Just as he was, he felt his jaw break when a punch landed right on his cheek.
He reeled back in surprise and screamed in pain. He held his jaw and moaned in pain before seeing who it was.
He felt his face paling when his sight was focused on a pair of bright emerald eyes glowing softly.
"Your father must have forgotten to teach you manners, Mr Malfoy." He whispered.
"Let me teach you." Harry stared into the boy's eyes coldly, satisfied when he felt him flinch and look away.
"Laying your hand on a lady against her consent, is not a feature of a gentleman, Mr Malfoy. Cowards, I call such people. Weak-minded, cowards." He took satisfaction as the Malfoy heir burnt with shame.
"There is nothing wrong in pursuing a girl. But once she says no, you shouldn't disturb her once more. If she is avoiding you, that means that she is not interested in giving you her attention." Harry explained.
"If I ever hear that you troubled Narcissa once more, I will skin you alive, Lucius Malfoy and even your father won't be able to stop me. Try it. I dare." Harry challenged.
Narcissa was done with her purchases and Harry nodded at her, before dropping a few galleons on the counter. They left the place through the front door.
Narcissa was staring intently at Harry. A number of emotions running through her head. Her look was smoldering and Harry couldn't help but shudder slightly.
This was very much his Narcissa. She was passionate. She revelled in his power. He knew how much it turned her on. Like every woman in the Black family, Narcissa loved power. He steeled himself.
"What is it?" He questioned. Narcissa's eyes turned sly and her smile became coy. "That was pretty impressive, Mr Potter. Didn't know you could scare people with just your eyes."
"His mere presence was enough to shake people to their core from where we came from." A new voice interrupted Narcissa and her conversation. Narcissa noticed this new person who had interrupted her. She noticed a young woman with blonde hair and cold blue eyes. She was dressed like nobility but she was pretty sure that she had never seen this girl before.
The girl stared challengingly at her before a smile broke out on her face and she almost glided towards Harry. She smiled brilliantly at him and stood up on her toes and to her outrage, kissed him just next to his lips.
Harry smiled at the girl, but his smile became a little mischievous when he noticed Narcissa's expression. ' Oh, she is pissed.'. He had to hold back a chuckle.
He waved Narcissa to come over. He smiled once more. "Narcissa. This is Daphne Blackwood. One of my closest friends." He introduced.
Narcissa's face tightened at the name. Sirius and James did mention this woman. This woman was, she grudgingly admitted, very beautiful. Narcissa tightened her wrists, her fingers digging into her palms. She was not foolish enough to miss the hidden meaning that the woman tried to convey.
Narcissa met the other woman's eyes. It was on. It was surely on, right now.
"Daphne, meet Narcissa Black." Harry introduced.
"Hello." Narcissa greeted and Daphne nodded.
"Harry here, was quite the ice prince. He could command respect with just those eyes of his. People just don't know how scary he is." She said holding his arm in hers.
"He talked a lot about you. It is finally very good to see you, Ms Black. Harry speaks a lot about you." Narcissa forced a smile on her face. "Likewise, Ms Blackwood." She whispered.
Harry knew that he must do something before sparks fly off between the women.
"Narcissa? Why don't you show Hogwarts to us?" He nodded towards the castle.
Narcissa finally gazed away from the woman and nodded, a smile adorning her features.
"Of course. You will love it, Harry. Hogwarts is just too beautiful." She led the two towards the castle.
Harry's eyes lit up softly when he gazed upon the magnificent castle of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His home. The first place that he could call his home. The memories of all his years at Hogwarts played out one by one. Daphne noticed Harry's expression. She understood what was going through his head. She had taken a trip down memory lane as well. Her first day. Her years in Slytherin. Tracy. Astoria. Harry himself. She didn't miss Hogwarts as much as Harry. She had her family, good friends. But still, every student who walks those halls will forever remember Hogwarts in a very fond way.
But to Harry, Hogwarts was more than just home. It was everything he knew all his life even since he learned about this place. She gently squeezed his palm and smiled reassuringly at the boy. Harry smiled back at her. He nodded his thanks at the girl.
"Are you alright?" She questioned. Harry nodded. "Memories." Harry whispered.
Narcissa cleared her throat. She scowled at the girl. Her entire day was going perfectly until this tramp showed up. She was stealing his attention away from her and that irked her. She didn't think of it at first, but she had competition. Now, she understood how difficult her competition was. She smothered another wave of anger when she saw their intertwined hands.
Not that it mattered. If anything, she took it in stride. She would finally have competition. It would only make her victory all the more sweet. She was confident that she would woo him. She knew she was good.
People might take this as arrogance. Not Narcissa. She had confidence in her abilities. One does not live in the house of the Blacks without learning how to win. More than that, she was used to winning. Her Grandfather had taught her to win at any rate. She would win at any rate.
—-&&&--
Andromeda and her friends were returning from Zonko's when they heard whispers. Amelda needed something at the jokes shop to bring to her brother and she had accompanied her along with two more of her friends.
"What has got them so excited?" She questioned nobody in particular. They continued walking back to the castle trying to gauge why most of them seemed excited. They heard a few words.
Lucius Malfoy. Honeydukes. Punched. Green Eyes.
Andromeda was confused. She then noticed her sister walking back to the castle. She also noticed two more people walking next to her.
"Narcissa?" She called out to her sister. The older Black sister turned around and Andromeda noticed who was with her. Her eyes widened before a smile adorned her face.
"Harry?" She rushed to the young man and stopped in front of him. Harry smiled at the girl and hugged her gently. Andromeda returned the hug in earnest.
"Andromeda. How are you?" The younger girl smiled.
"I am good. What about you?" Harry questioned and received a nod.
Andromeda then noticed another girl standing with Harry and her sister. Harry seemed to have noticed her and chuckled.
"This, Andromeda is Daphne Blackwood. My close friend."
Daphne smiled at the younger girl. "Hello. Nice to meet you Ms Black." Andromeda greeted the girl back. She would have not noticed it, but it was hard to miss as she noticed it right away.
Her sister was glaring daggers at the girl.
Andromeda was taken aback. Her sister. Narcissa was jealous. And at a girl she had never seen in her life. What was happening? She was pretty sure that her sister had never seen Daphne before.
It took a while, but Andromeda noticed the reason for this behavior. She noticed how Daphne stepped closer to Harry and him reacting instinctively, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. They were probably very close, she had thought and dismissed, but it was then she noticed her sister's glare intensify at that action. She had to suppress the urge to laugh. She would have if not for the sake of her sister's sanity.
'Oh…this would be fun.' She thought mentally, her grin now full blown. When she caught Harry's eyes, she received a wink from him along with a small smile. He was teasing her sister.
This was gold.
"So…." Harry broke the thoughts that were running through her brains. "I believe Narcissa was on a tour, wasn't she?" Harry finally decided to take pity on the poor girl. He walked upto Narcissa and held out his arm.
Narcissa's face blossomed into a beautiful smile as she captured his arm. She began leading the young man ahead. Andromeda finally noticed the usual superior smirk form on her sister's face.
"Oh this would be fun. A lot of fun."
—-&&&--
Harry was led towards the castle. He was eager to meet the others, especially James. The house had become too quiet without him around and Harry had missed him a lot.
"Harry!?" He smiled when he recognised the voice. He was just in time to catch the younger boy who had come barreling down to hug him.
"What are you doing here? When did you come here? Is everything alright?" James continued to throw his questions without a break.
"Whoa….hold on, brother. Breathe." He chuckled. "I am fine and I arrived here in the morning and was spending the day with Narcissa and Daphne. I just came along to see you lot." He explained.
James nodded excitedly and turned around to say something and stopped short. He saw Sirius staring at Daphne with a blush on his cheek and his mouth open.
Harry noticed this as well and his eyes twinkled with amusement.
"Looks like Sirius has a crush." He winked at the boy who was shaken out of his stupor.
Sirius was shaken from his thoughts and he noticed all of them staring at him in amusement. He noticed the beautiful young lady watch him and smile at him, winking at him. Sirius blushed in embarrassment at being caught.
Harry couldn't fault him. Daphne was a vision to see. A beauty unmatched probably with Narcissa being the only one who could compete with him.
"Sorry." He apologized. Daphne laughed once more and waved it off.
"Come now dear. No need to apologize. I am honored that a handsome lad one such as yourself is interested in me. It feels good for a lady's ego to be appreciated continuously."
She kissed the boy on the cheek and poor Sirius looked like he was set on fire. Harry laughed along with the others. Sirius was a flirt. He knew it very well. He had made sure to point it out to him when they were cooped up in Grimmauld. He would go into detail of all his conquests at Hogwarts. Harry certainly had no interest in that, but the man could pester a lot.
To see him getting flustered, it was a funny sight. He was about to speak when another voice interrupted. A voice he had very much tried to avoid at all costs after he knew that he would be coming here.
"Lord Potter Black." Dumbledore addressed Harry and he fought the urge to throttle the man.
"Headmaster." Harry muttered staring into the blue eyes of the aged Headmaster of Hogwarts.
