"Maybe it was toy gun? But toy guns are kind of obvious."
"Maybe they were really cheap bullets? …Yeah okay, that's stupid."
Max kept trying to think of possible reasons why a bullet would cause no damage to her body.
She got a papercut just from opening her math textbook this morning, now all of a sudden she's impenetrable?
She was so in her head about it that she didn't notice how quickly she got back to her dorm building.
It took her classmate, Alyssa, getting smacked by a football to snap her out of it.
"Oh shit, are you okay Alyssa?" Max asked with concern.
"Yeah, people are dicks." Alyssa told her as she rubbed her head.
"Tell me about it." Max said quietly. "Hey, how's Kate doing?" She couldn't help but ask.
She heard about the video that was uploaded online. Kate had been the subject to horrible gossip and nasty rumors because of it, especially from Victoria. She wished she could do more to help her.
"She's getting by I guess. Probably would help if Victoria wasn't a bitch all the time." Alyssa told her bluntly.
"If only." Max agreed as she went on her way. Her head was still swimming in thoughts from what happened earlier and figured she could use a moment to lie down.
Unfortunately, said Victoria and her lackeys, Courtney and Taylor were already there chatting with each other. Max honestly had no idea what she did to get on her bad side, it like she took one look at her and boom! They needed to be sworn enemies!
And of course, once Victoria saw Max, she put on that bitch of a smirk on her face and pounced.
Oh, look, it's Max Caulfield, the selfie ho of Blackwell. What a lame gimmick. Even Mark—Mr. Jefferson—falls for your waif-hipster bullshit." Victoria started insult her.
In all honestly, Max did not feel like dealing with it today. So instead of continuing to listen, she walked right past her.
"Hey! Don't walk away from me!." Victoria said angrily, not liked being ignore.
Taylor and Courtney were on their way to stop Max, but she was already aiming towards the door.
"I have a lot of crap on my mind Victoria, so I'm really not-"
*BREAK*
Max didn't get to finish her rebuff.
Because once she opened the door, she took the whole thing off the hinges of the frame.
And now she was currently holding onto the handle, that was still somehow attached to the door, with a very shocked expression.
"Wha…how…why…" Max's mind fumbled, lost for words.
She slowly turned her head back and saw Victoria and her friends were just as shocked. She tried to think of a possible explanation for this but her mind was at a blank.
Thankfully, it was Samuel, the school Janitor, that came to her rescue.
"Oh dear. Ol' Samuel has told Principal Wells that door needed to be replaced. Very old, very un-sturdy." Samuel said with his slow tone.
Taking that as her excuse, Max became apologetic as she realized she probably made more work for Samuel.
"Samuel, I-I…I am so sorry! I'm…I'm just gonna…uh…put this…here…" Max said awkwardly as she put the door against the wall. "Again, so sorry." She said quickly as she made her way up to her dorm, not even bothering to look at the girls or Samuel.
She hurried her way towards her door but stopped at the last second. Afraid she was going to have another incident like before, she turned the handle very slowly and gently.
Once she closed her door at the speed of a turtle, she let a very tense breath.
"What. The FUCK?!" Max asked herself, wondering what the Hell was going on.
How was this possible?! None of this should be possible!
Samuel said it was an old door but she knew better! She practically ripped that thing right off its hinges!
Now very curious if not frightened by this. Her curiosity got the better of her and she went over to the wall and brought her finger up.
She placed it against the wall and ever so delicately, gave a little push.
And turns out delicate was all that was needed for her to practically drill her finger through the wall.
"Holy shit…" Max said in awe of herself.
She then went over to her couch.
"It took both Dad and I to carry this thing up here, and it was still a bitch to hold on to." Max thought to herself.
She grabbed the bottom of the couch, after moving her guitar out of the way, and lifted the thing with ease. Didn't even feel like a paperweight.
She put it back down and looked at her hands with intrigue, amazement, and fear.
"What is happening to me?"
Another short chapter. Sorry about that, just wanted to put it out there before getting back to my main story. Here, we get to see Max try out her powers a bit more, looks like we can add super strength to the list! How she will deal with these revelations later on will remain to be seen.
Until then, comment and tell me what you think! Hope you're enjoying it!
