Konichiwa Folks! Tis I, KAMENCJ, here to bring you another chapter of The Revamped Timeline! Now, to Redflare Ranger, thank you so much for the suggestions of the moves that the current Pokemon (minus Fearow for Serena) can learn! I have copied it and put it in a separate document so I can remember which ones! To Cipherdragonite, if the second chapter is anything to go by, YES they will be getting non canon Pokemon. Now a question for this fanfic. Should I introduce Serena's Pancham later in the Kanto line or wait until Jirachi comes and have his wish granting powers bring Serena's last party member? Please reply in a review of this chapter! Enough of this Author's Note! LET'S GET TO READING! HENSHIN!
POKEMON: THE REVAMPED TIMELINE: A BATTLE WORTHY OF A MONARCH!
Misty's day had started ok. She had just gotten out of Viridian City, having stopped there to resupply and rest up before going to the river that was near Pallet town. She was using this as a break from her Gym duties and to see if she couldn't get some better Pokemon. Her first fishing attempt had got her …
A very angry Gyrados. She already had a Magikarp waiting for her in Cerulean so thankfully she could just let that one go.
Not without the thing trying to blast her with Hyper Beam that is.
Thankfully, her next attempt netted her a Chinchou and a Cloyster, very good Water types! She had just started biking back, hoping fate would have more good news for her!
Fate's answer …
Was a lightning bolt out of the blue.
On the ground.
Connecting straight to her bike.
She was able to get off it before the load was released, but it was a rather painful landing. She then shot up, hoping her bike was ok.
Said bike?
Let's just say it wouldn't even make a good exercise bike with how fried and mangled it was.
She broke down crying, wondering why some supreme Pokemon God decided to do this! She spent 3000 Pokédollars (Her own money she might add!) to get this one! It was custom built with her in mind!
She soon began to hear the crunching of gravel nearby. Looking to her right, she saw a young boy and girl who looked to be about 1-3 years younger than her.
Though she could care less when she noticed that the boy had a Pikachu on his shoulder. And it looked guilty.
She growled and stood up.
This boy ruined her bike.
This could not stand.
Well, things were not looking very promising in changing the timeline right now.
From what Ash, Serena and especially Pikachu could see, the bike was now even WORSE off. Unlike when it just became a charred-up wreck in the original, this looked like his old Charizard's flamethrower had been in point blank range of it! He wasn't even sure if they could get it repaired this time!
That thought was quickly stowed away when Misty shot up from her crying position when she saw them, looking very much like an angry Pangoro or Usaring that had its cubs threatened.
Let's just say that right now, for Ash and Pikachu, they feared for their lives right now.
"You did this! You and your stupid Pikachu fried my bike! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT COST ME!?" Misty screamed as she stomped over to them.
"Look, it was an accident! We didn't – "He was cut off when said girl shoved her face into his.
"I COULD CARE LESS! THIS THING COST ME 3000! PAY UP OR I USE MY CHINCHOU TO RUIN YOUR BRAIN!" Ash would be very, VERY afraid of a Misty this angry since she would back up that threat …
If he didn't sense a wave of anger from Serena.
Looks like an unstoppable force was about to meet an immovable object with HIM right in the dang middle of it.
The only thing worse than angry Misty in his opinion was angry Serena.
"Listen here! His Pikachu didn't mean to send his Thunder Bolt at you! He wanted it to just disperse harmlessly!"
Ash gulped, Misty at this point in time usually didn't care unless in her mind it was a good reason.
THIS GIRL DARED TO TRY TO SAY THIS BOY WAS INNOCENT!
If that boy had trained Pikachu better, the electricity would have dispersed up into the air, not along the ground! He had deliberately done it! He had to!
"No, YOU listen here! Either his Pikachu has terrible aim, which Pikachu don't PERIOD, or he deliberately had it target my bike! This boy and his yellow rat had better – "She was immediately yanked back. After twisting to see what had done it, she saw a white and pink canine like Pokemon with 4 ribbons wrapped around her shoulders and big blue eyes. If she didn't know any better, she could have sworn it looked like an Eevee evolution.
And it did NOT look happy with her.
"What? Are you Pikachu's mate? Are you trying to defend him when it's HIS fault?" The strange Pokemon started growling before she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder and whirled around ready to snap at him …
Then she began to have a flood of memories.
Things had almost gone from bad to worse.
Back in the old timeline, Ash had noticed that Serena's Eevee tended to sometimes look at Pikachu then when Pikachu turned to her, she immediately turned her head to look at something, ANYTHING else.
While he didn't notice it at first, Eevee during the ball fight where she evolved seemed to look at Pikachu almost like she had disappointed him. Like she didn't even feel worthy of being in his presence. After Serena's words, when she evolved, she gained a lot more confidence from the little Eevee who had stage fright.
When the end had come, he realized Pikachu had become attracted to Sylveon. That was why he told him to never let her go when it ended.
The point to all this?
Sylveon seemed to REALLY be protective of Pikachu. Probably why Sylveon now looked ready to STRANGLE Misty for what she called Pikachu.
Then again, Misty never went to Kalos. So, they probably make sure that Sylveon doesn't do anything rash.
As she was thrashing around, Ash quickly tapped her shoulder, hoping to remind her of the timeline before she and Sylveon got into a misty-canine fight.
Misty's eyes, he just realized, glowed purple, red, then the usual Aura blue before she began to hold her head. Sylveon let go but didn't lose the growling face she had.
Misty then shakily stood up, looking around for a bit. Then her eyes landed on Ash.
Ash smiled, hoping she had calmed down a bit and held out his hand in a shaking motion.
Misty then punched him.
It hurt.
It hurt a hell of a lot.
"OK Ash. Now that that lingering aggression is gone, and I apologize for hitting you like that, what in the FLIPPING LOVE OF ARCEUS IS GOING ON HERE!?"
Ash then leaned on Serena, much to her embarrassment, as he tried to steady himself.
Oh, he saw the punch coming a mile away, don't get him wrong, but it was clear that she had her memories back given how disoriented he is right now. Only Misty from when he met her again with his Class in Alola could hit that hard.
"Well, if you're wondering why we aren't dead, when the world ended last time, Arceus asked me to help prevent it this time. We are back when we first met."
Misty then got up, holding her arms up so that Sylveon didn't see her as a threat, then got a look of confusion.
"Wait. If we're back when we first met, who's this girl? I don't remember her."
Serena and Ash then looked at each other. Did the reminder not work on her completely or did she just not recognize Serena.
"This is Serena. You met her during the party, right?" Misty's eyes then seemed to widen, then she got a mischievous look.
"Oh yeah! You were that girl Ash seemed to be courting. Did you specifically ask for her?" Ash and Serena then blushed and tried not to look at each other.
"No, Arceus said that I could take one companion along with me, as long as it wasn't someone I was just about to meet in the region." Misty stared, then huffed.
"I can accept that. So, I take it the White Pokemon here is Her's?" Ash then smirked.
"Yes, it's called a Sylveon, an evolution of Eevee. Me and her also have another with us, since in this timeline, me and her aced the PokeAT." Misty then began to have a thoughtful look, then seemed to realize.
"Huh. That didn't occur last time. Not the Acing I mean. The test at all. All you had was to have been 10. At least here, you got some more knowledge." Ash then smirked again.
"Well, how else is a Former Monarch supposed to be?" Misty then just rolled her eyes.
"You may have become the Monarch, but you're still that kid I met all those years ago. Getting off that, what were your guys other Pokemon?" Serena then thumbed over to a tree, where Braixen was examining different sticks, looking for a good one since her old one was no longer with them.
"That's Braixen, my starter in the OG timeline. If you're wondering why she's examining sticks, Braixens need a stick in order to use their flame powers. No stick, no flamethrower." Misty looked over and saw Braixen trying out 3 sticks, but each time no fire came out. They either were burned to a crisp or didn't make a spark.
"So, it needs to be able to burn, but not enough to where it is useless after one move?" Serena nodded.
"Problem is, its usually a stick nearby that evolves with it from Fennekin, but since she was in a Pokeball when it occurred, there were no twigs near her." Braixen then began to look for more sticks.
"OK. But where's your second Pokemon, Ash?" Ash then smirked.
"He should just about have the drop on Braixen by now." Braixen heard that and turned around to look at Ash.
He shrugged while she gave him a suspicious look and turned around.
Only to see Greninja in front of her upside down, hanging from a tree branch with his feet. Braixen, surprised, jumped back in shock while making a little yip sound. If one was watching closely, they would see the right side of Greninja's cheek move.
Ash knew what that meant.
Greninja was smirking and being playful with Braixen. And it showed.
Given how he then bopped her nose, which if one looked closely at Braixen, made her take on a pink hue on her yellow furred cheeks as she covered her nose. Braixen then tried to grab Greninja, who pulled himself back up into the trees, narrowly avoiding the angry fox as she waved her arms about angrily at him. Ash, through his bond with Greninja, soon learned something.
"GET BACK DOWN HERE AND TAKE YOUR PUNISHMENT LIKE A NINJA! YOU CAN'T SERIOUSLY BE AFRAID OF A LITTLE FIRE TYPE LIKE ME, ESPECIALLY ONE WITHOUT A STICK FOR FIRE MOVES!"
"THAT'S WHY IM NOT LETTING YOU GRAB ME. SUCH A PRETTY LITTLE FOX CAN HAVE QUITE THE RAZOR-SHARP TEETH. Though I do admit, that does add to your beauty."
Ash then was surprised by that. Since when did Greninja become attracted to Braixen? Weren't they in separate Egg Groups? Even then, why would he act like this?
When he looked over at Braixen, however, he was surprised to see her blushing profusely. And looking away from the top of the tree, when Greninja then descended upside down again. With Braixen having her back to him.
Then, Greninja grabbed her by the mid-section and pulled her up into the treetop, Braixen giving a little yelp when Greninja took her by surprise. Ash looked over and saw that everyone had the same reaction on their faces.
"OK, he doesn't usually act like that, but that was Greninja, the final evolution of Froakie. Before me, he had 8 other trainers." Misty then looked at him.
"In this timeline or the original?"
"Original, but here I'm number 3. Anyway, Serena now has two new ones." With that, Serena brought out Rattata and Fearow. Misty looked at the Fearow in, well, fear.
"Isn't that the same Fearow that you -?" Fearow immediately glared at her shutting her up.
"Yes, and he would rather not have people keep bringing it up. So, drop it." Misty nodded.
Fearow nodded and then went over to Serena, who stroked its head.
"It's fine, Fearow. Those days are behind you now. You're with me now. Please, Ash will make up for it more than enough. I know he will." Fearow looked at her and nodded. Ash would make up for the rock he threw, even if he already let Fearow be the one to throw it here.
"Well, I now have two new Pokemon that I know I didn't catch last time, probably because I fished a certain someone out of the water last time." With that, she revealed her new Chinchou and Cloyster. Ash took in their sight, nodding.
"Very good one. But if my new memories on Gym rules is right, you can't use them in a official Gym Battle until you send an updated team list right?" Misty nodded then returned them.
"Anyway, I think it's time we moved. Don't forget a storm happened the last time, Misty." With that Misty looked over her shoulder and saw the clouds. Fearow then began to suddenly shiver uncontrollably. Then it started at Pikachu.
"Oh, crap! Pikachu has given it a scar from when we first met and when he used Thunderbolt! Serena!" Serena understood and quickly hugged Fearow who seemed to be hyperventilating.
"It's OK, Fearow! It won't happen this time! Please calm down!" Fearow, however, seemed to be collapsing into himself. He just couldn't forget how painful it was! How torturous it was when the electricity wouldn't stop coursing through him!
In desperation, Serena grabbed his head and made his eyes look straight at her.
"Fearow! I am right here! It won't happen again! I PROMISE YOU!" Seeing the pretty face of his new trainer helped, it also helped when she basically forced his focus off the storm and made his eyes look into hers. Fearow was still shaking but he calmed down enough to where he was breathing properly.
"OK now would you prefer to be in your Pokeball?" Fearow shakily nodded yes, as Serena pulled out his and Rattata's balls and returned them.
"Braixen! Are you nearby?" With that holler, Greninja again appeared upside down, but this time with Braixen sitting in his arms like she was in a swing. She also had a big branch. It was clear she had found the perfect one.
It was also at this time that Ash wished he didn't have the ability to understand Greninja at this point. Well understand through his eyes that is.
"DING DING! BOTTOM FLOOR! COUPLE TRAINERS, WATER GYM LEADERS AND PRETTY FOXES! PLEASE COLLECT ALL YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND MAKE SURE IF YOU WEAR A PERFORMER OUTFIT, MAKE SURE IT IS UP TO CODE!"
Braixen looked at Greninja with a blush, and then tried to cover his mouth.
Forgetting the crucial fact that his mouth was ALREADY covered by a tongue that could no longer go back into his mouth.
"Look here you! You do that, and I don't care if your immune to my Psychic attacks or are not bothered by my flames, you WILL know pain!"
Instead of being intimidated, Greninja looked amused, and once again bopped her nose as he retreated into the treetop, Braixen and Ash heard his retort.
"All that does is make you prettier to me, little fox. I like girls who have teeth."
Braixen had an embarrassed blush as she walked over to Serena.
"We'll make a new promise on that stick soon enough. Let's try and beat the thunderstorm." Braixen nodded and she returned. Serena pulled out Sylveon's Pokeball, then stared a bit at it.
"We might need to find a way to recolor this ball to match your new colors, Sylveon. Do you want to go back into it?" Sylveon stared at it then made a quick look at Pikachu, then shook her head no. Serena, however, noticed a light pink color on Sylveon's cheeks when she looked at Pikachu and while she shook her head.
"OK, but you might want to make sure to tell him before a female Pikachu or bunny Pokemon snatch him away." Sylveon's blush increased, then took an aggressive look as she remembered seeing a particular Bunneary in a jacket hugging Pikachu tightly.
It took a while, but with Pikachu blocking the lightning bolts and Greninja using a massive Water Shuriken to cover them, they managed to get through the storm and were on the outskirts of Viridian City. Serena and Misty were ready to head into town, when Ash stopped and turned to face the sky.
"Ash? Is everything alright?" Ash just kept looking around in the sky.
"It should be here soon. The first Legendary I ever saw. It should be arriving right … about … Now." Everyone looked up.
And saw a rainbow coming from the feathers of a giant red bird with a gold crown of feathers on its head.
"Impressive. You power at this point should not be at this level." A voice in their heads rang out, causing everyone to look around, trying to figure out where it came from.
If they had been watching the Big Bird, they would have seen it having an annoyed face.
"Up here, you morons." Everyone sweat dropped at that.
Yeah, it should have been obvious WHO was talking to them.
"Apologies, Ho-Oh. I didn't think you knew Psychic since you're a Legendary." Ho-Oh just shook its head, as Ash closed his eyes to calm himself down …
When he saw Ho-Oh glow purple.
"Um, Lord Ho-Oh, I know this might be hard to believe but – "
"You can give me my memories back of the old timeline?"
Ash's eyes widened at that. Did Ho-Oh read his mind?
"No, but I've had experience reading humans. Before I came here, a message from Origin came to me. It told all Legandaries that the Chosen one has awakened early. I came to see it and given how your powers are far beyond what I should have expected, it was clear that this only would have happened if Celebi or Dialga was involved. Now, could you please?"
Ash just shrugged and touched the head of Ho-Oh, wishing for his memories back.
"Ah. I see. You saw me here the last time as well. I now see why your powers have awakened this fast."
Ash smiled. He was about to turn around when Ho-Oh suddenly smirked.
"Now to see if you are worthy to call yourself a Hero of the Aura. I challenge you. You may use both of your partners, but one at a time. Win or lose, I will determine your worthiness."
Ash smirked and looked at Pikachu, who also was smirking.
"Alright. PIKACHU! I CHOOSE YOU!" With that command, Pikachu leapt off his shoulder, as Misty, Serena and Sylveon quickly got out of the way.
Ho-Oh then began to float in the air, him and Pikachu just staring at each other. A tuft of wind blew some grass into the air.
(PLAY HO-OH BATTLE MUSIC HERE)
And with that the battle was on.
Ash knew he shouldn't start off directly with Thunderbolt, Ho-Oh would predict that, and Pikachu would be a sitting duck trying to gather the energy for it.
But who says he couldn't improvise moves?
"Pikachu! Use Iron Tail! Aim for the ground!"
Pikachu quickly realized what Ash was thinking, made his tail into steel, and smashed it into the ground.
Huge chunks of earth went sent into the air, with Pikachu smacking some of the bigger ones towards Ho-Oh, and while Ho-Oh was trying to dodge the attacks, he had to admit to the cleverness of Ash.
"An improvised Rock Throw. Impressive. Most would go straight for a Same Type Attack that is to an advantage. May I ask why?"
"Because all Electric Types, even if they are at the max power, must charge for even a split second before being able to use it. You, being a Flying Type Legendary, would recognize that immediately and take necessary steps to counteract it. But since this failed. Pikachu! Combine Quick Attack and Agility! Don't stand still for a moment!"
Pikachu then began jumping around the debris of the field, making sure he only stayed on one rock for a second before jumping off. He thought Ho-Oh was unable to keep track of him.
Until said Big Bird literally appeared in front of him, with a bored look.
"You do know I've flown and tracked through worse right?"
With that, he made his body glow and first slam right into Pikachu, knocking him into the air.
He then glowed a red color as the energy seemed to go to his wings, which made Ash worried, realizing what move was about to happen.
"PIKACHU! USE AGILITY AND QUICK ATTACK AGAIN! DON'T TRY TO HIT HIM! HE'S ABOUT TO USE SACRED FIRE!"
Pikachu quickly righted himself, landing on the last airborne rock, and just jumped down, trying to get to the ground as fast as he could will his body to move.
If one were looking closely, his aura when he engaged the combination of Agility and Quick Attack changed from white to green.
Ho-Oh then released the energy from his wings, sending multiple arrow like flames across the field, each causing a massive explosion when it connected with the ground, with large plumes of smoke erupting.
Ash held his breath and waited for it to clear.
When it did, Pikachu was nowhere in sight, making both Ash and Ho-Oh worried.
Especially Ho-Oh.
He had seen the battle spirit in Pikachu, so he knew it would take more than just his Sacred Flame attack to make him quit, but he had made sure to hold back!
"Pikachu! Where are you!? Please say something! Anything!"
No response. Had Ho-Oh accidently destroyed Pikachu? He looked at Ash with a horrified expression.
Then a green blur suddenly shot out of the ground and connected with Ho-Oh's face, zooming off into the air.
"What the? Did Pikachu just use a new move?" Ash wondered aloud as he pulled out his Pokedex.
"EXTREME SPEED. THE FASTEST NORMAL TYPE MOVE. BY USING A COMBINATION OF QUICK ATTACK AND AGILITY, A POKEMON CAN MOVE FAST ENOUGH TO BREAK THE SOUND BARRIER. HOWEVER, THIS MOVE HAS ONLY BEEN MOSTLY RECORDED WITH ARCANINE AND LUCARIO. NO KNOWN RECORD OF PIKACHU BEING ABLE TO LEARN THIS MOVE."
Ash was shocked. His Pikachu had just learned a move that he shouldn't have been able to learn.
Now if only there weren't the problem of Pikachu being up in the air now.
"Pikachu! Right yourself …" He hoped Pikachu hadn't forgotten how to use this move, "And use Volt Tackle! Combine it with Extreme Speed if your able!"
Pikachu righted himself, and concentrated.
Ho-Oh quickly turned around and flew straight at Pikachu, his body glowing.
Ash gulped, recognizing it as one of the best Flying type moves, Sky Attack.
And it was currently in its first phase.
Pikachu kept running in a way. He was glowing green, showing his Extreme Speed, but that seemed to be it. Ash worried that he would never be able to use Volt Tackle again.
Ho-Oh then seemed to release the energy as a sonic boom suddenly happened and he vanished into the sky leaving a trail of rainbows behind him.
Ash thought Pikachu was done for, when he saw it.
Pikachu was starting to electricity around his body! And thankfully, it fully enveloped him as another sonic boom occurred.
A sudden crash was heard in the air.
And Pikachu and Ho-Oh were basically trying to overpower the other in a shove war. Neither side budging an inch!
Then Ho-Oh began to push and push HARD. He spun on his axis, and pierced through the electrical aura, though it was clear it hurt him as well, as his eyes were shut in pain. Pikachu then suddenly turned his tail into steel and grabbed Ho-Oh by the neck, using the tail as a hook.
Both fell to the ground with a massive crash.
When the dust settled, both Pikachu and Ho-Oh were on the ground. Ho-Oh got up first, and despite having a few damaged feathers, looked like all he needed was dirt cleaned off him and he would look like he hadn't just tanked a very powerful Electric type attack, powered up by the speed of Extreme Speed.
Pikachu … was not as sturdy. He had multiple scratches on his body, some even looking like he had some red stuff on them. One of his ears looked a bit crooked, and one of his paws looked like it was just hanging limply there.
"You fought well, Pikachu. You have my respect. I must ask you to stand down now."
Pikachu and Ash looked at each other, and smirked. Ho-Oh saw this and smiled. It was rare for even Pokemon who have been with their trainers for years to get to this point.
"Pikachu! Let's give him a grand finale of THUNDER!" Pikachu began to charge, making dark clouds come out. Ho-Oh once again glowed red, but this time he was channeling Sacred fire into his body rather than his wings. The clouds let loose a massive lightning bolt which connected but didn't deter or even make Ho-Oh stop but for a second as he slammed his body into Pikachu.
Pikachu and Ash, however, smirked. Seeing the area that Pikachu had connected with when Ho-Oh smashed into him suddenly spark with electricity.
Yeah, he was knocked out, but Pikachu had left his mark in more ways than one.
Pikachu then collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
It was clear who won this contest.
Ash was about to move Pikachu out of the way, when a pink and white blur suddenly shot out. When it stopped, it was revealed to be Sylveon standing over Pikachu, nuzzling his cheek. When he didn't move, she used her ribbons to pick him up and take him to Serena and Misty. She looked over at Ash, who smiled and nodded at her in appreciation.
Sylveon then ran off the field.
"Take that as a hint from Arceus to, again, not screw it up with her, Ketchum. You have no idea how annoyed we got in the other timeline with you on this."
Ash then just gave Ho-Oh a "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" look as he went beet red.
"Is this gonna be a regular thing with people and other Pokemon!?"
Ho-Oh smirked.
"You were so dense that it didn't hit you until the END of the original. Do you think we wouldn't make a sound about it? Especially when she was sending clear as day signs of her attraction?"
Ash then just facepalmed.
Yeah, no one, not even some people in other dimensions (Hint Hint Folks), were gonna stop screaming at him how obvious it was.
He just wordlessly tossed out Greninja's ball, as the Ninja Pokemon stood in a crouched position, obviously excited to be facing a Legendary.
"I must ask you to refrain a bit, Ash."
Ash looked at him confused, until he had a thought.
"You know about our little trick, don't you?"
"Indeed, and as much as I want to see how this Bond is compared to one of my old Chosen, I must ask you not to use it. I do not wish to accidently lose myself in this fight."
Misty heard this, and wondered what was so special about this Bond compared to other trainer bonds.
"Let's start off with Water Shuriken!"
Slapping his hands on his star symbols on his thighs, Greninja then clapped his hands together as he then threw the Shuriken right at Ho-Oh, who took it. When he emerged, however, Greninja was nowhere to be seen.
Which became a literal headache when Greninja appeared behind him and suddenly struck him with what looked like a black katana. Ash pulled out his Pokedex, cause that sure wasn't Cut.
"NIGHT SLASH. BY COMBING DARK TYPE ENERGY WITH CUT, A GRENINJA CAN USE THIS TO STRICK AN OPPONENT. IT IS SAID THAT GRENINJA OF THE PAST USED THIS TO PERFORM STEALTH MISSIONS WITH LETHAL ABILITIES."
Ash had to admit, this was going to be much more useful than Cut.
"Use Water Shuriken again! Try to keep him disoriented!"
Greninja then, instead of focusing the stars together, started throwing out tiny stars, which annoyed Ho-Oh.
Ash knew he needed to think up a better plan. All he was doing was delaying either Greninja's knockout or taking too long for when he had to get to Viridian before Team Rocket.
He knew that Greninja couldn't learn Extreme Speed, so he would need to figure out a new move.
A new move?
Wait. What if he tried to combine Cut with?
THAT'S IT! A MOVE HE AND GRENINJA TRIED TO LEARN BEFORE HE LEFT KALOS!
"GRENINJA! COMBINE CUT WITH WATER ENERGY! USE THE STARTUP PROCESS OF WATER SHURIKEN!"
Greninja, realizing through his bond with Ash what he was hoping for, quickly put his hands on his thighs again. However, instead of his hand being flat, Greninja balled them up like he was using cut.
Then he pulled them out. Two small swords made of water, then he combined them together to make what looked like a samurai katana made from water.
Ho-Oh saw this and made his body on fire. Ash swore it looked familiar as Ho-Oh charged at Greninja, who brought the weapon down on Ho-Oh's chest.
A massive plum of steam and smoke occurred, with Greninja and Ho-Oh righting themselves just before they hit the ground. Ash pulled out his Pokedex, hoping this improvisation finally let Greninja unlock a move he and him tried to train before he left Kalos.
"LIQUIDATION. BY FOCUSING WATER ENERGY INTO A SINGLE POINT ON ITS BODY, A WATER POKEMON CAN EITHER COVER ITS BODY IN IT OR MAKE A WEAPON OUT OF THE WATER. MOST GRENINJA CAN ONLY LEARN THIS VIA TM."
Ash smirked; they had finally perfected it. He thought Ho-Oh was going to be on the ropes.
Until he saw him smiling.
"Aren't you worried that Greninja now knows the most powerful Physical Water type move?"
"Normally, yes. However, a move I rarely use has made that a bit of a non-issue right now. And I just used it. That was NOT Sacred Fire I just used."
Ash quickly racked his memories, trying to remember where he saw that move. Then his eyes widened in terror, realizing that Ho-Oh had just taken away a certain advantage he had.
"That was Burn Up, wasn't it?"
Ho-Oh smirked.
"Bingo."
Serena turned to Misty with a confused expression.
"Burn Up? I can tell it's a fire type move, but what's making Ash scared of it?" Misty turned with a look of sadness.
"Burn up, once it's used, gets rid of the Fire Typing. Meaning Ash is fighting a pure Flying Type now. Liquidation would have been devastating if Ho-Oh was still going to be Fire type. I think he used it so that Ash wouldn't rely on it, since most of his moves are Fire type."
Serena eyes widened.
That's why Ho-Oh didn't use it to start. If he did, he would be at more of a disadvantage to Pikachu, since his moves would lose power from no longer being a Fire Type.
Against Greninja, not only was he not going to use Fire Moves unless they blinded them, but it also made it to where Greninja's water moves didn't hurt as much.
Ash sighed, but still maintained a smile.
They weren't just going to give up at the drop of a hat like that.
Ho-Oh glowed brown and the ground suddenly produced large boulders as he threw them at Greninja, who deftly dodged between the rocks and struck Ho-Oh again with Liquidation, the katana proving quite the pain dealer.
Ash quickly brainstormed, he needed to put it all on the line, especially since now, Ho-Oh was breathing heavily, a sign he was running on fumes, while Greninja glowed blue, his Torrent Ability being activated. He and Greninja suddenly had a thought, having noticed his right hand had ICE on it.
Well, they could only hope.
Here's hoping Pikachu's present will finally come into play.
"Greninja! Focus your water energy into a ball! Then send it towards Ho-Oh!"
Greninja did so, but it didn't act like they were hoping. They could tell they now knew a form of Hydro Pump, but it wasn't the move they were hoping for.
Then Ho-Oh started a Sky attack again.
Well, might as well try it.
"Greninja! In your right hand put water into it! Try to cool your hand down as much as you can!"
Greninja charged at Ho-Oh, summoning water into his right hand.
Then he felt it.
Ice began to form around his fist as he proceeded to try and punch Ho-Oh.
Normally, that wouldn't even phase Ho-Oh despite him no longer having his Fire protection.
If electricity didn't suddenly course through his body, stopping the Sky Attack cold. Both literally and figuratively as Greninja's punch connected with his chin, dealing a golden strike, signifying it as a Super Effective attack.
What was strange to Ash, was that just before it connected, Greninja seemed to glow light blue. Especially since the hand glowed a platinum color. He recognized it as being what was known as a STAB Attack or when the Pokemon was the same type as the attack they did.
His Pokedex suddenly began to vibrate as he pulled it out and opened it.
"PROTEAN. THE HIDDEN ABILITY OF GRENINJA. WHEN THIS ABILITY IS AWAKENED, WHEN A POKEMON USES A DIFFERENT TYPE MOVE FROM ITS BASE TYPES, IT WILL SWITCH TO THAT TYPE FOR STAB BONUS."
Ho-Oh got up shakily, looking confused at the electricity currently running around his body.
"How? I don't recall Pikachu's attacks dealing Paralysis to me!"
Ash then smirked.
"Funny. I thought a Flying Legendary would know the Abilities of a Pikachu."
Ho-Oh looked confused until he seemed to figure it out.
"Hehe. STATIC. How utterly moronic of me to forget that special trick. If Pikachu couldn't knock me out, he was going to make sure I was hampered. Good strategy, Ash."
"Not one I like to rely on, given how its random, but it was better than using Thunder Wave on you."
Ho-Oh smirked and then began charging up another Sky Attack, charging at Greninja again, but Ash and Greninja saw the signs of Paralysis again. Ash thought of how to turn that ice into a beam, then had an idea.
"Greninja! Try to make a Hydro Pump ball but put your hand in front of your mouth when you breath it!"
And it worked, the Hydro Pump, instead of being sprayed as water, was turned into ice. The Ice Beam flew across the field straight for Ho-Oh, who once again got Paralyzed and was hit straight on.
Even then, Ho-Oh got back up. And making such a powerful move for Greninja had taken its toll too. He was breathing heavily.
Ash decided to end it.
"Greninja! Use Ariel Ace!"
While Greninja did leap and do a backflip, instead of being surrounded by air, he suddenly had a green dome on covering him as he flew straight for Ho-Oh, who had once again done a Sky Attack.
This time, they connected.
When the smoke cleared, Greninja was on one knee, covered in scrapes and bruises.
Ho-Oh looked to be in worse shape. His feathers were all crooked, his tail feathers had lost their shine, and his crown almost looked ready to fall off.
Sadly, it was clear who the winner was when Ho-Oh sent a flamethrower at Greninja, who was unable to move after the move he did was a Giga Impact.
Ash sighed, but he walked over to Greninja, as Serena, Sylveon, Pikachu, and Misty came out of cover from the intense battle.
"You did great. It might be because we're rusty. But we will grind it off man. We always did."
Even though his tongue was covering his mouth, one could see that Greninja was smiling.
"I must say, I have not been pushed to this limit in a long time. Especially against a Aura Guardian."
Everyone looked up to Ho-Oh who was glowing yellow, meaning he was using Recover. He then smiled at Greninja and Pikachu and sent some glowing yellow energy to them.
Their wounds healed up, though they would still need one night at the Pokemon Center.
"Before I leave, I must do some things. First off, take this Ash."
A glowing feather and sack suddenly descended into his hands.
"That feather is the Rainbow Feather. There is a place to summon me in Kanto called Mount Tensei. Seek me there. The sack holds what is known as Sacred Ash."
Misty was heard snorting until a glare from Ho-Oh shut her up.
"That is what it's called. DO NOT TEST MY PATIENCE ON STUPID PUNS. LUGIA ALREADY HAD THE DEVIL OF A TIME TO MAKE IT TO WHERE THE SHOUMATI PROPHECY HAD ONLY ONE PUN IN IT. If you die, it will revive you, but it can only be used once."
"I see. So, you want me to have a rematch on Mount Tensei?"
"No, while you will summon me there, I wish to fight HER at that point." Ho-Oh pointed his wing at Serena, who was shocked.
"Wha – ME!? WHY ME!?"
"You will find out after Saffron City, Chosen One of Extrasensory."
Ash's eyes widened. Ho-Oh knew Serena had Psychic powers!
"For now, I wish for you to capture me, Ash. The Ball will release me once I get to my destination. Once I face Serena, I will let you catch me permanently."
Ash nodded his head and brought out a Pokeball and threw it at HO-Oh.
It connected and Ho-Oh was drawn into the ball. It dinged, signifying a successful capture.
Ash picked it up and threw it. When Ho-Oh came out, he held up the ball, and he took it in his beak with care.
"I will take my leave now, Chosen One. May our paths cross again soon. Oh, and Greninja, be careful with Braixen. The ones who learn Mystic Fire I view as my children, SO DON'T HURT HER OR I'LL KNOW. GOT IT!?"
Greninja gulped and sheepishly nodded his head. Ho-Oh then took off into the air, leaving a rainbow in its wake.
"Time to see if this thing recognizes him." Ash said pulling out his Pokedex and pointing it at Ho-Oh.
"THERE IS NO DATA. THERE ARE STILL POKEMON YET TO BE IDENTIFIED."
Ash just shook his head.
"Sometimes, I wish I could just smack this thing to get it updated. Oak never told me how to update these things." Ash said while smacking the device's screen lightly with the back of his hand.
Then the thing began sparking wildly. With some energy going over to Serena's.
"UPDATE SUCCESSFUL. HO-OH, THE RAINBOW POKEMON. LEGENDS CLAIM THIS POKEMON FLIES THE WORLD'S SKIES ON ITS MAGNIFICENT SEVEN COLORED WINGS."
If that wasn't strange enough, SERENA'S began talking as well. Hers sounded more feminine though.
"AUTO CYCLE RESTART COMPLETE. UPDATED INFORMATION ACQUIRED."
Serena and Misty looked straight at Ash, who had just as confused a look as they did.
"I'd say I broke it, but I know I didn't hit it that hard. Reverse World, I didn't even KNOW I could remind this thing."
"Would this have anything to do with you dumbing that cache that you were talking about?"
Ash stopped and then turned around. Right behind him …
Was Pikachu. And somehow, even though his lips were moving …
Ash could hear him in PERFECT ENGLISH.
"I mean, we all know how dumb you are around technology, so I wouldn't put it past you not updating it at a Center."
Ash turned back to the girls, who clearly didn't hear the same thing he did.
"What did you girls hear?" They both tilted their heads at him.
"Pika Pika Pikachu. I thought you had a close enough bond with him." Ash then turned back to Pikachu.
"Well, it's just when he spoke, I didn't hear him say his name. I heard him ask if this had anything to do with the fact that I have not been able to dump the cache on this thing and pointing out that I'm a bit of a moron when it comes to technology."
Everyone stared at Ash, then turned their heads to Pikachu.
Who nodded and had just as flabbergasted an expression as they did.
He then looked at Greninja.
"Try saying something, ANYTHING, to see if this works. And don't use the Bond Phenomenon." Misty looked at him confused.
"Ash, what are you trying to do? And what's the Bond Phenomenon?" Ash immediately sweat dropped at that.
"I'll tell ya later."
"And even then, he does still have problems understanding how a PC works, let alone a Pokeball."
Ash's eyes widened at that.
"I understood that too! Serena, have Sylveon say something!"
"Syl! Sylveon Syl!" Sylveon said with enthusiasm, but Ash did not understand it.
"I really hope it isn't just with Pokemon I catch." Pikachu then looked disappointed.
'Pity. I was hoping he'd give me some advice on not locking up when looking at Sylveon or talking to her.' Serena then had an idea.
"Fearow, please come out." With that, said giant bird appeared.
"So, what happened, milady? Did the boy do something?" Ash's eyes widened at that.
"THAT I understood! Given our history, I'm guessing that it's if I have a strong enough bond with a Pokemon, though I don't get why I didn't understand you when we first met." Fearow then looked at him confused.
"And even then, our 'BOND' was mostly me trying to turn you into a kabob." Ash translated, which everyone found themselves agreeing with.
Ash then pulled it out and saw that there were multiple pictures of his adventures. Serena's had hers too. Though what shocked her was that her old Pokevision videos were also on there. She had that on her town map, not her Pokedex.
"IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHY, IT'S THERE, IT SEEMS SOME OF THESE ARE VERY SPECIAL TO YOU AND ASH."
Serena very nearly dropped her Dex in fright. She sure wasn't expecting it to talk to her, unless she was scanning a Pokemon.
"INDEED. AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH US. WE ARE STILL YOUR ID AND PROPERTY YA KNOW."
Ash had a blank stare at this, as he continued to look at the photos. He saw Molly as she had kidnapped his mother. He saw the Latios he failed to save.
The Red Gyarados.
The power hungry Malamar.
It was all there.
Then he came to a photo that he did not recognize.
It was a picture of a Mewtwo and a Mew with an energy ball clash.
With him right in the middle.
He looked over to Misty, and she looked just as confused as he did. Serena …
Let's just say that Ash feared for his life for a few minutes.
"Why did you never tell me that you flung yourself in between TWO OF THE MOST POWERFUL POKEMON IN THE WORLD!? AS IN YOU COULD HAVE DIED BEFORE WE REUNITED!?"
Ash and Pikachu looked deathly afraid, as for some reason, SYLVEON was also not happy for some reason. Reverse World, it seemed like she was mimicking some of Serena's motions.
"I don't even remember this! I think I would know if I threw myself in-between those two! And even then, if Mewtwo was that angry, chances are he would have tried to destroy the world! We would have reunited with each other then!" This seemed to SLIGHTLY placate her, though Ash and Pikachu knew better than to press on.
They just stared at them until Misty came in between them.
"OK look. It's clear that I was there in the photo, and I sure don't remember this. So maybe it didn't happen!"
"INCORRECT, WATERFLOWER. THE MEWTWO IN THE PHOTO ERASED EVERYONE'S MEMORIES. IN ORDER TO PROTECT IT AND THE CLONE POKEMON. YOU MET IT AGAIN IN JOHTO. REMEMBER?"
Ash once again stared at the Dex in his hand.
Why did the thing sound like his old self from the start of his journey?
"ANYWAY, GETTING OFF THAT, YES, I HAVE BEEN REMINDED OF THE OLD TIMELINE. NO, I AM NOT A ROTOM. ANALYSIS SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT BECAUSE YOU NEVER CLEARED MY CACHE, A SORT OF GHOST IF YOU WILL EXISTED WITHIN YOUR AURA OF THE DEXS. IT COPIED AND PASTED UNTIL THE END OF THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE. AS SUCH, I HAVE ALL THE DATA OF YOUR NOW FUTURE TRAVELS SO TO SPEAK. PLUS, IT MEANS IN A WAY YOU HAVE DONE YOUR DUTY TO PROFESSOR OAK."
Ash had to admit, that was useful. Then he was confused.
"Wait. Then why does Serena's talk now too? I don't recall hers ever doing this stuff or being near her as long."
"THAT WOULD BE BECAUSE YOUR MEMORIES ALMOST OVERLOADED HIM. HE IS STILL BASED OFF SOME OLD SOFTWARE, THOUGH THANKS TO THE UPDATES, HE HAS CAUGHT UP MOSTLY. I HAVE YOUR DATA FROM THE KALOS REGION AND BEYOND."
"TRUE, BUT THEN AGAIN, MOST COMPUTERS DON'T GO THROUGH REVERSE WORLD LEVELS OF CRAZINESS ON THE DAILY BASIS THAT HE AND HIS OTHER TRAVEL COMPANIONS GO THROUGH. HECK I'M CONFUSED WHY HE BEGAN TO SHOW SIGNS OF ATTRACTION TO HER. THE ONLY CRAZY THINGS THEY DID WERE DIANCIE, HOOPA, THAT MALAMAR, AND THAT WEIRD HAUNTED HOUSE."
Ash could literally feel Serena's glare on his neck, given how apparently to his Dex that was quiet compared to what usually happened.
"I would like to point out that if you're in my grip when she starts tearing me apart, there's a 75% chance that she will eviscerate you too."
"INCORRECT. THERE IS A 95% CHANCE THAT SHE WILL DESTROY ME. I SHOULD WATCH MY MOUTH."
"What mouth?"
Ash nudged Pikachu, which he got the message once he saw Sylveon giving him …
THE LOOK.
And he did not like the look.
"MAYBE THEN YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY LEARN A THING OR TWO. I KNOW I AM."
"Um not to interrupt the argument between computers, though personally I put money on the female computer winning, but while I'm going to continue calling mine Dexter, what do you want to be called?" Ash asked hoping to get both him and Pikachu out of the stares effective range.
"SMART MOVE PUTTING MONEY ON THE FEMALE COMPUTER. ON THE QUESTION OF WHAT TO CALL ME, I HAVE NOT FIGURED THAT OUT YET."
"A CLEAR SIGN THAT SHE IS THE INFERIOR MODEL. I SHALL LOOK FORWARD TO WHEN I OUTPACE HER."
"KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT. I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, BUT LETS GET MOVING, WE ARE ALMOST BEHIND SCHEDULE."
Ash breathed a sigh of relief, glad to move. He started to move until he felt something latch onto his arm.
"You are staying with me until we get to the Pokemon Center, mister! I am not risking my boyfriend."
Pikachu tried to sneak away, but got wrapped up by Sylveon.
"Same with you, BUSTER!"
Ash and Pikachu looked at each other.
This was going to be quite the day.
Hopefully, the first of many good days with Serena now with them.
And hopefully not him getting one of many inventive deaths by the lovely ladies as well.
Misty just smiled at the scene.
This was going to be fun.
