Sesshomaru's hand was holding the collar of the Northern Lord,
"You dare challenge me!"
Sesshomaru tossed him back, but he made a move to come back at him, but Inuyasha stopped him. "I would not do that if I were you,"
"Out of my way half breed!" The Lord said to him and then attacked, but Inuyasha held out his sword and kept the Lord at bay.
"Lord Sesshomar maybe you should do something about this half-breed brother of yours."
Sesshomaru stood with his arms crossed "She will not bear you children." Was all he said. The Lord looked to him, stepping back from Inuyasha. "What?" He snapped.
"You heard him bastard!" Inuyasha snapped.
The man looked at Kikyo. "Is what he says true, Miko?"
Kikyo eyed Sesshomaru, who was staring at the sky. Her eyes met with the Lord. "It is as he says,"
Angry "You did not relay this message prior!"
"Does it matter?" Kikyo asked,
The man grew man, blowing air through his nose he called his guards, and they left, quickly.
Sesshomaru looked down, and he too soon vanished.
They sighed.
The group stayed around for a few more days just to make sure that the Lord did not come back. Miroku and Sango were worried about the man, but Inuyasha and Kikyo were worried about Sesshomaru for different reasons. He had not returned yet, and it had been the longest he had been away. Inuyasha wanted to know what his brother was up to. Wanted to know why he came around, but more importantly, why he wasn't around now.
Nothing left to do but wait; they took their leave of her as well.
It was a cold night when he returned, but Kagome could not feel it in her deep sleep. Sesshomaru came with the blowing of the wind. He stood in the tree lines and watched her. Her lips are as blue as ever. He slowly walked to her and passed the barrier. His claw finger brushed over her lips, nicking it, making it blee purely by accident. He rubbed her blood off with his thumb and then rubbed the blood between his fingers. Her blood, the last blood with power in it. Odd. His eyes narrowed as he remembered Kikyo's words. If the man does not love her, she will not bear him children. Kagome could change the future; her children would be the change. The wind blew hard once again.
"Tell me," He asked, still looking at Kagome's lips.
"It matters not when," Came Kikyo's voice.
"But." That word made him look back at her. "She must Love him too."
Sesshomaru Looked back at Kagome. "Who do you belong to,"
"Who is worthy of such a girl with rare powers and knowledge beyond us?" Kikyo whispered.
Of course, Kagome said nothing. Sesshomaru stood there as if waiting for her to reply. His claw hand reached out and brushed against her cheek. He knelt down and lifted her neck, and looked over her lips again. Could it be that he was afraid? Afraid she would awake? Afraid she wouldn't? He was worthy of power, but was he worthy of her? Did he want to be worthy of her?
Was she worthy of him?
He respected her, and she was worthy to fight beside him, and he protected her many times because of it.
Then he kissed her full force on the lips, while his other hand held her face gently. Suddenly, he felt her hand cover his. He pulled away, and her bright eyes were open wide and looking at him. She did not say a word.
Kikyo was gone, the earth was silent, and all he could hear was the beating of his own heart.
What had he done?
"Farewell," He set her head down and swiftly walked away. He glanced back at her before entering the trees and vanishing.
Kagome sat up and shivered "Ses...Sesshomaru?" She whispered and touched her lips with her fingertips. The warmth of his still lingered, but he was gone, and the cold of the night set in, and she shivered more, and she held herself tight, confused, cold, and alone.
