And here with is my helper midnightson41!

midnightson41: Thanks Tokuniverse 11 if you're wondering why this took a while to Update Volume 9 happened and both Toku and Myself wanted to wait and see if there was anything we liked and could use later on Future Spoilers we won't have Ruby Drink the Tea because there won't be a need too and that's all I'm going to say another reason why it took so long is because of a Surprise that Toku made at last second that we Hope people will enjoy.

With all that being said let's begin!

Chapter 1: Beacon of Light

A female voice spoke.

"Legends. Stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past."

"Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness, creatures of destruction – the creatures of Grimm – set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void."

"However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named 'Dust.'"

"Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life. But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die, and when they are gone… darkness will return."

"So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called 'free world.' But take heed: There will be no victory in strength."

Another voice answered the first, this one male.

"But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten, things that require a smaller, more honest soul."

In the blue sky is a large airship that is on it's way to it's destination with its passengers passing the time from within. Jaune has leaned against the wall with his arms crossed just minding his own business and listening in to the conversations on the airship.

"Oh, I can't believe that my baby sister is going to Beacon with me!" A voice exclaimed.

Jaune looks to see a girl in a red cloak seemingly having her breath stolen from her lungs by a crushing hug from what he assumes to be the girl's sister, an older one at that.

"This is the best day ever!"

"Please stop, Yang!" The girl in red gasped as she squirmed in the tight embrace.

"But I'm so proud of you, Ruby!" The older blonde girl named Yang replied as she released her little sister named Ruby.

"Really, sis, it was nothing."

"What do you mean, it was incredible, everyone at Beacon is gonna think you're the bee's knees!"

"I don't want to be the 'bee's knees,' okay, I don't wanna be any kind of knees, I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees."

Jaune smiled and chuckled a bit at that banter between the two before he decides to go to the bathroom to clear something that he ate that his stomach didn't agree with.

"What's with you?" Yang asked, surprised by her younger sister's lack of enthusiasm. "Aren't you excited?"

Ruby sighed as she replied. "I am, I just… I got moved ahead two years, okay, I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."

It was true. Ozpin, the headmaster had allowed Ruby to skip two years of training at Signal Academy and apply to Beacon at the same time as Yang, even though at only fifteen; she was still going to be two years younger than any incoming freshmen.

"I mean it's bad enough that I have tw-"

"Ruby." Yang interrupted with a stern tone. Ruby quickly realizes her near mistake.

"T-To leave my friends behind and now I have to keep 'this'."

Ruby's silver eyes started to faintly glow a red color, "a secret" after quickly making sure no one saw the sisters shared a sigh.

"Nice save there and you're not the only one that hates keeping quiet about 'this'." Yang's lilac eyes then also glowed but in a yellow color before fading as it appeared.

"But you are special!" she encouraged as she didn't see any problem with the situation, pulling Ruby into a more gentle, one-armed hug.

From behind them, they heard a news bulletin on the Vale News Network running, and Ruby, hearing something familiar, turned to face the viewscreen. On screen was a pair of mugshots of a orange haired man wearing a bowl hat, and the announcer was currently reporting, "The robbery was led by the nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you, Lisa!"

The screen switched to Lisa Lavender, the main anchor for the news show, as she replied to the reporter, "Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted–"

The TV suddenly winked out, and in its place stood a hologram of an older blond woman that was very familiar to Ruby.

"Hello and welcome to Beacon," the hologram began.

"Who's that?" Yang wondered aloud.

"My name is Glynda Goodwitch," the woman continued.

"Oh," Yang quietly said as her question was answered.

Glynda's image continued. "You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." With that, the recording disappeared, and people began to crowd to the windows as the city of Vale shrank beneath the slowly rising airship.

"Woah!" Ruby gasped, joining the ones looking out the glass. "You can see Signal from up here!" she said over her shoulder to Yang. "I guess home isn't so far away after all."

Yang came up behind her and smiled. "Beacon is our home now."

Behind the girls came Jaune who feels refreshed and joins the group looking out at the window as well to see Beacon Academy as it gradually grew closer and closer to them.

"I wonder who we're gonna meet!" Ruby said, voice filled with wonder.

As all this happened, the airship was gradually getting ever closer to Beacon Academy, where Jaune, Ruby, Yang, and the rest of the new students, would be calling home for the next four years. The future seemed bright, and Ruby herself could barely await the adventures that it had in store for them.

The airship gently came to a slow halt as the doors began to open. Several other airships were arriving to their left and right, with students disembarking to begin heading towards the school.

After exiting the ship, Ruby looks upon Beacon. The school's tall tower loomed over her, and in front of the school was a vast courtyard, at the center of which stood a fountain spouting water from decorative statues of a Huntsman and Huntress standing triumphantly over a Grimm. Above the school rose Beacon Tower, one of the four transmitting towers of the Cross Continental Transmit System, that glowed with a green light just barely visible through the clouds. Jaune, Ruby and Yang all were unable to suppress an awed "Woah" as they took in the majesty of the school.

Just then Jaune felt something vibrating in his right pocket of his pants and picks it up to reveal a scroll with the words 'Mother' on the screen. He pressed respond and places the scroll to his right ear.

"Hi, mom... Yeah made it Beacon and it looks great..." Jaune turns his eyes to see Ruby greatly admiring the weapons she is seeing left and right while Yang is holding her back.

"Yep, looking great, hey, did you know that my mentor didn't pack any food for me on the way here... Yeah, I had to stop by a diner to get some food before I got to Vale... But it's alright, I'm fine now anyways... I also think the people here will be great."

As Jaune was talking he caught sight of a dark haired olive skinned young boy wearing a dark green coat looking conflicted and uncertain but before Jaune could think of it, a loud gibbering noise coming from Jaune's scroll quickly gain his attention.

"Mom I promise I'll be okay... What? No mom I haven't met anyone I like yet... What do you mean you want grandchildren? What about the twins and Adrian... Mom? Mom? Okay mom I got to go it looks like orientation is going to start soon... Yeah mom?... Thanks mom I swear I'll make dad and you and the girls proud after all, an Arc never goes back on his word, right, besides I can't really disappoint my teacher either can I?" Jaune smiled.

"Wait, where are you going? Are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? Do we have dorms?" Ruby yelled frantically at Yang who took off with her group of friends. Jaune ignored that and continued his talk on the scroll.

"Mom, listen, I'm immensely grateful of the chance to be here because of you and my mentor... I'll be okay... Yes I will call you or Saphron once or so often... Goodbye love you, mom." Jaune hangs up his scroll and puts it back in his pocket.

"What are you doing?" A voice demanded. Jaune turns to see a girl who was dressed in an all-white, billowy dress and vest, with a long, white ponytail that trailed down her side almost to her waist held up in a sparkling tiara. A short but deadly looking rapier was attached to her left hip, and she was currently glowering down at a now downed Ruby on the ground looking up.

"Oh, sorry!" Ruby exclaimed as she raised herself onto her hands.

"'Sorry?!'" the girl repeated incredulously. "Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?"

Jaune frowned at the girl in white mistreating Ruby who is already having a bad day as it is especially that she already apologized. Ruby got slowly to her feet and attempted to offer one of the cases to the other student, not sure how to respond to the tirade. The girl snatched the case from Ruby's outstretched hand.

"Give me that!" The angry student demanded as she took the case. She opened it in front of Ruby and took out a vial of red, fire-type Dust, which she began to shake for impact as she ranted. "This is Dust, mined and purified from the Schnee quarry."

"Uhh," Ruby mumbled, still unsure of what to say.

"What are you, brain dead?" the girl continued rudely "Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!"

"I… I know," Ruby began.

Some of the material seeped out of the vial as it was shaken, forming a red cloud around Ruby's head that began irritating her nose. Desperately, she began struggling not to sneeze in order to not blow her secret if it gets out.

"Are you even listening to me?" her accuser continued. "Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself."

Ruby was still struggling, but she was fighting a losing battle. Just as she was about to sneeze, a gloved hand covered her nose relieving her greatly and Ruby looked to see a blond boy staring down at the white haired girl.

"Would you stop shaking the dust vial, it's clearly giving this poor girl an allergic reaction!" Jaune shouted.

"But she's the one who should watch where she's-"

"She didn't even mean to bump into your cases of Dusts, plus she apologized for it, so what gave you the right to treat her like this?"

The girl in white was fuming at this blonde boy's audacity of choosing to side with this female 'child' in red over her. Ruby looked to Jaune in appreciation for coming to her defense.

"H-How dare you, do you even know who I am?"

"No, I don't and even if I do, I would still treat you as any other normal individual, princess." Jaune stated.

The girl in white looked at Jaune in shock and surprise. Clearly she wonders how this boy doesn't even know her as even if he doesn't use Dust he should know her from her singing career so the fact that he doesn't know her and that he treats her no different than anyone else both intrigues her and hurt her pride at the same time.

"It's heiress, actually," came a new, soft voice from behind the three of them. They turned to see the girl in black with the bow walking slowly over to them, Dust vial in hand.

"Weiss Schnee," the newcomer continued, "heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellent in the world."

The girl named Weiss' mouth broke into a smug smile. "Finally, some recognition!"

However, the girl in black continued, "The same company infamous for its controversial labor policies and questionable business partners."

Jaune and Ruby began to snicker as Weiss floundered, "What? How dare—the nerve of—" Unable to think of a response, Weiss merely snatched the Dust vial from the girl's outstretched hand and stormed off with an outraged "Ugh!"

Ruby watched the other girl as she fumed away, calling after her, "I promise I'll make this up to you!" To herself she muttered, "I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day." Suddenly, a thought occurred. She may have made Weiss angry, but that was no reason she couldn't start over with this new girl.

"So, what's…" Ruby began as she turned to the girl in black, but she trailed off when she saw that the mysterious girl had already turned and was walking away.

Frustrated and disappointed, Ruby sank to her knees and gave a forlorn sigh, "Welcome to Beacon."

"Hey, it's not that bad, I'm Jaune by the way." Jaune offered her hand to help her up.

Ruby smiled and accept, but just as their hands touch they both sense something strange within the other but both don't know what it is. Jaune felt a jolt while Ruby is feeling something unusual before the two shake it off. Ruby then looked him over. Short, scraggly blond hair, tight fitting pants with a belt and holsters on the thighs and small knee armor above a pair of knee high boots that are armored in the front, and brown short sleeved jacket over a necked black vest with a yellow arching symbol on it. She had remembered seeing him on the airship.

"Ruby, it's been so hard for me to interact with people."

"I feel you too, I mean a lot of people think they better then me to the point that I don't make that many friends, it's a much more common problem than people let on." Jaune said later as they were walking down a path through the school's gardens.

Ruby laughed. "No kidding, the only reason people only talk to me is just so that they can be close to my older sister."

"I see well people always like to hang out with the Social Butterflies."

"Yeah... Hey, at least you don't put up with them asking for your sister!"

"Well my sisters already know how to handle themselves when comes to people asking for them anyway, not sure if I introduced myself but my full name's Jaune Arc," Jaune said.

Ruby smiled, happy to have finally found someone friendly, and tried to think of something else to talk about.

'Well,' she thought to herself, 'we are gonna be training to become Huntsmen. Might as well get his specs.'

"So, I've got this thing, her name is Crescent Rose," Ruby said as she unfolded a scythe. Jaune looks at it, impressed.

"Woah, cool, wait let me guess, it's also a gun and I want to say sniper rifle?" He asked. Ruby looked at him shocked.

"How did you know?"

"I saw a lot of make shift weapons when I was traveling with my mentor, a lot of them just added basic firearms to the design." Jaune answered.

"I see, anyways, it's a customizable, high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby said proudly.

"Cool."

"So what've you got?"

"Oh, mine is rather simple and practical, as a collective, I call it Aglaophotis Arms," Jaune pulled out a sword from a sheath he had been wearing on his belt. "I got this sword named Crocea Mors Ensis."

Ruby liking to observe new weapons, let out an interested "Ooohh."

"A shield called Luna Scutum." Jaune continued as he withdrew his sword's sheath from his belt and hit a hidden button that transformed it in his hand into a broad heater shield.

Ruby reached out and touched the shield. "What does it do?"

However, as her hand made contact with the metal, it nudged Jaune's hand against the hidden button, and the shield reverted to a sheath in his hand, spooking Ruby.

He puts the sheath on his belt, Jaune said, "The shield gets smaller and turns into a sheath called Luna Involucrum, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just put it away."

"But… wouldn't it weigh the same?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah, it does, but it doesn't bother me since I've been trained to carry heavy stuff." He replied. "But I still have one more weapon."

"Really?"

"Yep, this crossbow called Luminous Velos." Jaune pulls out a rifle-like bow gun from his back and presses a button that unfolds the prods on it which causes Ruby to look with more excitement. "It shoots bolt arrows that can pierce through armor."

"Wow, impressive, well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons so… I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it," she admitted, referring to Crescent Rose, which she had since put away.

"I actually didn't make my weapons, these are heirlooms that have been used by my great-great-grandparents in the war." Jaune replied.

"They sure are heirlooms," Ruby joked with a giggle. "Well I like it, not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days."

Jaune smiled appreciatively at her as he puts away his crossbow on his back, "Yeah, the classics."

They began walking again, and Ruby asked him, "So, I have to ask, why'd you help me out back there, in the courtyard?"

Jaune shrugged. "Why not, I couldn't stand the way that girl was treating you over a simple mistake plus it'll be good to let her know that right now she is not just some high class heiress anymore but a normal student like everyone else."

Ruby smiled again in appreciation to Jaune's answer as the two headed inside the school for the orientation.

The auditorium hall of Beacon Academy was filled with incoming students bustling to find friends old and new. As Ruby and Jaune entered, Ruby caught sight of her sister waving to her from the midst of a large group of people.

"Ruby, over here, I saved you a spot!" Yang called over the din.

"Oh!" Ruby said in relief. Her sister, the one person she needed right now. Turning to Jaune, Ruby hurriedly said, "Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!" With that, Ruby took off towards her sister.

"See you later," Jaune smiled and waved. 'What a nice quirky girl,' he thought out loud before deciding to stay leaning on a wall.

Ruby walked up to her older sister, an indignant expression on her face and her arms crossed. Yang looked her sister up and down and smiled. "How's your first day going, little sis?"

Ruby scoffed. "You mean since you ditched me and I almost exploded?"

"Yikes," Yang commented, "meltdown already?"

"No, I literally almost blow a hole in front of the school!" Ruby said, thinking back to the confrontation with that Weiss girl. "And there was some fire, and, I think some ice?"

Yang smirked. "Are you being sarcastic?"

Ruby replied, "Ugh, I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I almost sneezed, and that could have cause an explosion and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me–!"

"You!" came a grating voice from behind Ruby. Ruby turned and gave a frightened squeak as she saw Weiss standing there behind her. She leapt into Yang's surprised arms as she cried, "Oh, God, it's happening again!"

Weiss stood there with her hands on her hips as she regarded the sisters with disdain and annoyance. "You're lucky that miscreant was there or we would have been blown off the side of the cliff."

Yang's eyes widened as she finally realized what was going on. "Oh my god, you weren't kidding."

"It was an accident!" Ruby protested to her sister as she got down from Yang's arms.

She turned to Weiss and again pleaded, "It was an accident!"

However, Weiss thrust something forward to before she could continue. Ruby backed up a bit and recognized the object as a small paper pamphlet. The title 'Dust for Dummies' was written across the top.

"What's this?"

Weiss looked at her and quickly explained, "The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."

Ruby, unable to process the information that had come whizzing into her ears, responded with a confused, "Uhhh?"

In response, Weiss shoved the pamphlet into Ruby's grip and said, "Read this and don't you or that Gorbian ever talk to me again."

She motioned with a thumb over her shoulder to where Jaune was standing alone by a wall. Hearing his name, he perked up, before he notice who was saying it and scoffed but decided to listen in until he was unable to catch the rest of the sentence, then he shrugged off whatever Weiss had said. Completely missing the curious gaze he got from a beautiful red haired girl dress in armor.

Yang, who had been watching the entire altercation, tried to jump in.

"Look, uh, it just sounds like you two got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and just try to be friends?" she proposed. Ruby brightened at the idea.

"Great idea, sis!" she said as she put the pamphlet away. She turned to Weiss and extended a hand, clearing her throat.

"Hello, Weiss, I'm Ruby, wanna hang out, we can go shopping for school supplies."

Weiss adopted a fake smile as she replied with mock enthusiasm, "Yeah, and we can paint our nails, and try on clothes and talk about cute boys."

Ruby, not picking up on Weiss' sarcasm, replied with a hopeful, "Really?"

Weiss' fake smile disappeared, and she glared at the younger girl as she coldly replied, "No."

Weiss walks off as Ruby sighs.

"Say mind telling me more of what happened exactly," Yang asked, wanting to know the details.

"Well like I said, I almost exploded had it not been for this boy named Jaune who managed to stop me from sneezing and defended me from Weiss." Ruby said, smiling. Yang's smile vanished while she wanted her sister Ruby to make friends she didn't want any of them to be a boy... at least not yet anyway.

"Is that so, where is he?"

Yang's 'Older Sister' instinct demands that she'd be overprotective and see what this Jaune's intentions is with her little sister and if she didn't like what she heard or saw then she'll politely ask (read threaten) him to not bother Ruby anymore which her baby sister will probably hate her for it but such is the burden of an older sibling that she'll get over it eventually.

"He's over there." Ruby points to the blonde boy leaning against the wall minding his own business. Yang took the time to analyze Jaune staring at him intently trying to find any flaws for her to use but found nothing.

"Hmm I'll admit, he's cute, but I still want to meet him later."

"Okay, sure, I'm certain Jaune will love to meet you."

'I'm certain he will too...' Yang thought bitterly.

The sound of a microphone being tapped cut off most of the conversations happening among the students in the auditorium hall. The students quieted and turned to the main stage where Ozpin had stepped up to a tall microphone stand with a black cane in hand, Glynda not far behind him, he began to scan the students and senses some familiar energies coming from a few students, four, he recognized with nostalgia but one however was new but faint as Ozpin soon quickly found it belonged to that blonde boy by the wall. He then straightened his glasses as he began to speak.

"I'll... keep this brief," he began solemnly. "You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the good people of Remnant. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction, cultivation, discipline, and most importantly self-reflection."

Students began to whisper among themselves, puzzled over his words, but he continued after a brief pause. "You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take that first step towards the betterment of Humanity and building a brighter tomorrow." With that, the man stepped back from the mic and walked off the stage, as Glynda stepped up to the stand.

"You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed." Glynda turned and walked off the stage after Ozpin, leaving the students to begin filing out of the auditorium and head to the ballroom to unpack.

As she watched the two teachers go, Yang commented, "He seemed kind of… off."

Ruby nodded her head in agreement. "It's almost like he wasn't even there."

Weiss said nothing, her eyes following the teachers as they exited the auditorium through a side door.

From the girls' left suddenly came Jaune, leaning into the group with the quick comment, "Think his hair color is natural, maybe he's just stressed?"

Weiss merely brought her hand to her head in exasperation at having to deal with the fools surrounding her.

Later that night, the large crowd of incoming students had all finally unpacked and were settled in sleeping bags and blankets on the floor of the ballroom. Most of them had already changed into sleepwear, and many were gathered into individual groups of friends or other cliques as they excitedly discussed what tomorrow's trials were likely to bring.

Ruby was laying on her stomach on top of her sleeping bag, thoughtfully writing something in a small notebook with her pencil. Her long pajama pants were a light pink hearts on them, and her simple black tank top with a rose crest on it and matching eye mask were blown a bit by the air coming from a vent above her. Yang plopped down next to her on a sleeping bag of her own, dressed similarly in her own sleepwear a yellow tank top and black shorts.

"It's like a big slumber party!" Yang said.

Without looking up from her writing, Ruby responded, "I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though."

With a smirk and a sly gaze, Yang remarked, "I know I do."

She gave a half-joking purr as she admired some of the boys across the large room who had chosen to sleep shirtless tonight and were showing off bulging muscles to everyone. However, one person stands out and it's that Jaune guy that Ruby talked about who is wearing simple white t-shirt and blue pajama bottom, but even though he wasn't shirtless, Yang saw that he still has muscles akin to the other boys in the room with him thanks to his shirt clinging to his chest likely since he just got out of the showers which made Yang subconsciously lick her lips which he thankfully didn't notice as he was on his scroll doing something as Yang turned her attention back to Ruby.

"What's that?" Yang asked, nodding towards the writing.

"A letter to the gang back at Signal, I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going," her sister replied.

"Awe, that's so cuuuuuuute!" Yang said, before a pillow came across to smack her in the face.

"Shut up!" Ruby complained. "I didn't get to take any of my friends with me to school. It's weird not knowing anyone here."

"Well, what about Jaune?" Yang asked. "He's…" Yang hesitated since she needs to meet this guy first, "nice. There you go, plus one friend!" She continued with a smile. "That's a hundred percent increase!"

Ruby rolled over onto her back and stared up to the ceiling. "Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend," she said sullenly, recalling yet again her encounter with the heiress. "Back to zero."

Yang, refusing to give up, replied, "There's no such thing as negative friends, you just made one friend and one enemy, and speaking of which you said you'd introduce me to him." Yang said, her tone of voice changing to a serious one at the end.

"Oh right, well we still got some time before it's lights out lets go look for him, Hmm," Ruby said looking through the crowd of people until she spotted him. "There he is, hey Jaune!"

Jaune looks up to see Ruby waving at him to come over and so he did walking into the other room where Ruby and Yang are at.

"Hey Ruby, how's it been since this morning." Jaune asked, looking curiously.

"Better now that I'm away from that Dust-"

"Ahem, mind introducing me, Ruby?" Yang pointed, feeling left out.

"Oh right Jaune, his is my sister-"

"The names Yang Xiao Long, I play with words a lot, guess you can say it's A-Pun-dant." Yang introduces herself, offering her hand while Ruby groaned behind her.

"Pleasure to meet you, Yang," Jaune accepts her hand while ignoring the bad pun and as soon he did, he felt a firm grip from the fellow blonde, but suddenly the two felt a strange feeling from each other before they quickly release and looked at each other.

"So, uh, how's the rest of your day been, Ruby?" Jaune asked, trying to change the awkward moment between himself and Yang.

"It's been good I guess, but I still didn't make a lot of friends besides you, by the way I forgot to thank you for saving me earlier," Ruby said, smiling in appreciation.

"Yeah, thanks looking after my little sis, but mind if I ask why, it's not that I'm not grateful but you surely went out of your way for a stranger?" Yang asked, raising an eyebrow as she is very curious on what Jaune has to say.

"Well..." Jaune began trying to find the best way to explain himself.

"She looked like she was in trouble at the moment and that other girl didn't seem like she was going to stop until it was too late, plus my mom always said strangers are just friends you haven't met yet." Jaune explained, making a goofy smile in the process.

"... That sounds so corny," Yang pointed, chuckling a bit. 'I guess this guy is not as bad as I thought.'

Jaune just shrugged, "Hey it's not the worst thing anyone's said, besides it hasn't let me down yet, right?" He said with a smile.

"I guess not." Yang said with a grin.

"I'm certainly not complaining." Ruby said with a smile of her own.

Just then a small noise off to the side caught the three's attention. Turning to one of the less populated portions of the ballroom, they saw a girl their age dressed in small black robe with white lining and matching short pajamas bottoms and a matching bow on her head had just set down a lit candelabra on a small table and was holding a book in one hand, quietly reading by herself.

"That girl…" Ruby said thoughtfully.

"You know her?" Yang asked.

"Not really," Ruby admitted. "She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything."

"Yeah, she was also the one who told off Weiss alongside me which was something about bad Faunus labor." Jaune commented.

Then there was something that caught only Jaune as Ruby and Yang didn't notice it and he sees the black bow on the girl's head is twitching by itself.

'Why is her bow moving by itself... did I say something that got her attention?' Jaune thought.

"Well, now's your chance!" Yang exclaimed, grasping one of Ruby's arms.

"Wait, what are you doing?!" Ruby said as she was yanked to her feet and pulled along behind her sister.

The girl with the book looked up as she heard the sounds of approaching students. Yang, Ruby, and Jaune were drawing near, with Ruby fighting in her sister's grip. Yang gave the mystery girl a wave and let out a sing-song, "Hello, I believe you two may know each other?"

The girl looked up at Ruby. A small glint of recognition flashed across her otherwise impassive face. "Aren't you… that girl that almost exploded?"

"Uh, yeah!" Ruby said, a sheepish smile on her face. "My name's Ruby!"

The girl shrugged and turned to Jaune who was analyzing the girl before she turned to him.

"And my name's Jaune, I believe we also met and I'm guessing you also heard what I said to Weiss, right?" Jaune asked.

"Well, anyone that doesn't kiss up to little miss heiress is cool with me." The girl said smiling a little before returning her eyes to her book quietly creating an awkward silence.

Yang turned to her sister, quietly whispering through clenched teeth, "What are you doing?"

"I don't know, help me!" Ruby whispered in reply.

"So," Yang began again, "what's your name?"

"Blake," the girl replied simply with monotone voice, not looking up from her book page.

"Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister."

"I like your black bow by the way, Blake." Jaune complimented while taking a closer look at Blake.

"Thanks," Blake replied, trying to project her disinterest in her tone, so she goes back to reading in peace.

'It twitched again,' Jaune noted.

"Yeah, it goes great with your… pajamas!" Yang continued, still trying to strike up conversation. Ruby gave a nervous giggle while Jaune watched on in silence.

"Nice night, don't you think?" Yang said, refusing to give up.

"Yes," Blake said, as she raised her eyes to meet the sisters. "It's lovely. Almost as lovely as this book." She paused. There was no reaction from the girls. "That I want continue to reading." The sisters still stood there, not moving. "As soon as you leave," Blake finished, narrowing her eyes as Jaune now sees that the eyes almost look like slits.

'Slit eyes, twitching bow, has a thing against Weiss, and seems to want to be alone, either I'm looking too deep into it or Blake's a Faunus,' Jaune thought, taking in what he has seen on this mysterious girl.

Yang turned to her sister and said audibly, "Yeah, this girl's a lost cause."

Ruby, however, was looking thoughtfully at the book Blake was holding. "What's it about?"

"Huh?" said Blake, surprised by the question.

"Your book," Ruby said, gesturing with a hand. "Does it have a name?"

"Well," Blake said haltingly, as if trying to gather her words, "it… it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body."

"Wait, are you reading The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, that's real good book," Jaune commented.

"You read books too?" Blake asked, looking surprised at Jaune.

"Sometimes, I mostly read comic books," Jaune said, shrugging.

Yang, who wasn't much for books herself, said offhandedly, "Oh yeah, that's real lovely."

Ruby, however, smiled a bit. "I love books, Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters… they're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!"

Despite herself, Blake gave a quiet laugh. "And why is that, hoping you'll live happily ever after?"

Ruby answered honestly with a smile. "Well, I'm hoping we all will, as a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books… Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!"

Blake smiled slightly. "That's… very ambitious for a child." Her smile became a frown as something seemed to occur to her. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairytale."

"You're right about that, the world isn't a story... maybe in a perfect world where the Grimms wouldn't exist, Huntsmen wouldn't be needed, Humans and Faunus would stand side by side as equals, and no one would have to grow up expecting to lose a friend or family... however I want to believe that we can and are making a difference, for every life lost, another is saved while others are born, for every racists out there is a dreamer working towards making the idea of equality possible, and Huntsmen don't necessary need Grimm to hunt so just long as there are good people doing something than the forces of darkness will never win... so yeah while the world might not be a story, that doesn't mean we can't make it one." Jaune stated.

Everyone is shocked at what Jaune had said even Weiss who is in her sleepwear and her hair being out of its usual ponytail was coming over and about to snap at the group for disturbing her sleep was stunned by how deeply inspiring and passionate Jaune's speech is. In fact it impressed all four girls along with a certain redhead girl and dark haired boy nearby with Yang now glad that Ruby has a friend like Jaune and Blake thinking whoever has him as a team leader or partner is going to be lucky. Speaking of Jaune, he realizes he got carried away.

"W-Well at least that's how I see things but what do I know right?" Jaune said, chuckling awkwardly.

"No I completely agree with you, that's why we're here," Ruby replied, smiling, "to make things better."

"You've certainly given me something to think about Jaune." Blake said with small smile of her own.

"Great, now will you excuse me, I need to head to bed." Jaune said, embarrassingly attempts to stumble his way out of things. '... and hope that people forget that this ever happened by tomorrow.'

"Why so shy, mister inspirational, in fact how about you come and sleep with us then," Yang teased, capitalizing on his embarrassment and not letting it show that Jaune's speech got to her too.

Blake quietly watched it play out before her and laughed quietly. Weiss on the other hand after hearing the entire speech from Jaune decides to go back to sleep without a complaint.

'That speech was definitely worth coming here,' The redhead girl thought before returning to what she was doing 'Jaune huh, wonder if he'd be interested in being partners?' The girl then closed her eyes with a smile on her face.

'To make things better?' The dark haired boy repeated 'Can… Can I do that?' The boy asked himself, feeling the doubts and uncertainty he had all day begun to fade before shaking those thoughts away before looking back at the group specifically Jaune and Ruby 'They… they're real Huntsmen that I can never be anything like them.' The boy thought sadly before going to bed.

'I... misjudged him,' Weiss thought, changing her tunes about the Gorbian that confronted her earlier, taking one last look at the flustered young man before attempting to sleep.

"Nope, gotta go get shuteye and it was nice seeing you all, you too Blake."

"Likewise Jaune, Ruby, Yang, it's a pleasure to have meet you all as well." Blake replied, smiling a little.

Jaune head backs to the room across to sleep, Ruby and Yang get ready for bed and Blake decided that at this point she would get no new reading done tonight, simply blew out her candle on the table beside her, plunging her secluded little corner into darkness.

Me: And cut...

Alright so you guys see that there is subtle hints of both Maiden and Jaune's Magic in the chapter. The powers will show itself in the initiation itself, so I hope you guys are excited for it.

So midnight your thoughts?

midnightson41: This Chapter was Surprisingly a lot easier to make than the last one maybe because we had more to work with and this Chapter would have been out sooner but again Toku made a Last Minute Suggestion and for those that are Smart and Curious Yes The Boy is who you think he is and will properly be introduced in the Next Chapter however Why he is at Beacon this Early will be explained later but overall I liked how this Turned out.

Ruby and Yang mistake their Maiden Powers as a second Semblance and keep it a secret! Jaune intervenes and catches Ruby, Weiss, and Blake's attention early on! Jaune has a trio of heirloom weapons! Weiss calls Jaune a Gorbian (German for Ruffian)! Jaune meet Yang at night! Jaune, Ruby, and Yang properly meets Blake! Jaune gives an inspirational speech that wows Ruby, Yang, Blake, and the nearby Weiss, who is having second thoughts about Jaune!

Alright fill free to leave a review, but if you flame or give me all negative comments that don't help me in anyway to improve, I will chew you out even if it is immature of me! I'll only take well constructed criticism and I'll be more lenient with the guest reviews as long as I'm not being flamed.

Alright I'm going to do one more chapter for this story, then I'm going to do one chapter of University DxD and finally do two chapters for My Toku to Hero Academia, then the cycle resets.

Thank you so much for reading everybody. We'll see you in the next chapter, buh bye!
