Chapter 7: Lycan
As the new Severus Snape sat down, Gestalt got a closer look at the silver scars that seemed to spread up from his neck and onto his cheek. He himself had lost all his scars after having passed over, and the only explanation for this Snape's scars would have to be from some sort of curse... it didn't take long for him to figure out what had happened.
"Nametag," Obscurial said, pointing at the basket.
The new Snape put a nametag on, and the name 'Lycan' appeared. He furrowed his brow.
"... so," Healer began, looking Lycan over, "I would hazard a guess that you aren't a Squib."
"Of course not," Lycan replied. "Why do you ask?"
Everyone but Lycan looked over at Caretaker, who let out a defeated sigh.
"Just going over the different points of deviation," Heartless replied. "Did you call Lily a mudblood?"
"... why would I do that?" Lycan asked, a very loud hint of disgust in his voice.
"That narrows it down," Heartless said. "Based on your name, I'm going to assume you're a werewolf?"
Lycan didn't respond immediately. "... yes."
"Did Potter and Black at least get what was coming to them?" Caretaker asked.
Lycan blinked a few times, and then a few times faster. Before anyone could anticipate it, he began weeping.
Gestalt had never seen himself cry before, and it was perhaps one of the most disgusting things he'd ever borne witness to. Heartless seemed to share the same sentiment based on the look they shared. Meanwhile, Healer had offered Lycan a handkerchief, while Obscurial and Caretaker stood back quietly.
Eventually, Lycan stopped crying, sniffling as he said, "Sorry, I'm... I'm still not used to..."
"What happened?" Healer asked.
Lycan shook his head. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Let's skip the less savory parts," Obscurial said. "How did Lily react after the incident?"
"... she wasn't thrilled when she put the pieces together," Lycan said quietly. "She was upset I kept the truth from her. Can I get some whiskey?"
Obscurial poured a glass of whiskey for Lycan and set it in front of him.
"Thank you." Lycan took a long sip before continuing. "Needless to say, my prospects at joining the Death Eaters didn't go as planned. No place for half-breeds."
"Silver-lining, if I ever heard one," Caretaker said. "At least you had a way out."
"... not quite," Lycan replied, "but I'd rather not get into that."
Gestalt sat back and took in what sort of life Lycan must have lived; knowing Lupin's original role in the original war, he didn't have trouble guessing what his lycanthropic counterpart must have gone through. Not too long after, he felt someone outside. "Someone's coming," he told Obscurial.
"Anyone of note?" Obscurial asked.
"I'm not quite sure," Gestalt replied.
"I heard about you," Lycan said to Gestalt.
"Haven't we all?" Heartless asked.
The door opened, and another Severus Snape walked into the room.
