Hi, so this is my first story for this pairing and I have to admit I am liking it so far so let's see where it goes! I hope you all enjoy this story and this chapter.

Leah is criminally underused and criminally treated. She's the Rosalie of the Wolf Pack.

I also have a huge amount of respect for Embry's Mom. Not sorry.

Disclaimer-Nothing here is mine.

Please Read and Review.

A First Time For Everything

An AU of Breaking Dawn, Book 2 and Book 3. In which Embry also defects and joins Jacob's pack and in doing so his relationship with Leah is changed forever. Embry/Leah.

Chapter 1-Hostile Measures.

Bella is back from her honeymoon, Jacob becomes an alpha, Embry and Leah share a kind of civil conversation for a brief half of a heartbeat.

The first inkling they got that Bella was back from her honeymoon, naturally, came from Jacob.

Embry had been expecting it, the way one expects a night shift, you do your best to ignore it but it comes anyway. He had seen his best friend go steadily deeper and deeper off the cliff during the last year and a half when it was obvious to anyone and everyone that Bella Swan was always going to go back to Edward Cullen and that had culminated in him running away, coming back and then starting at her about whatever she was going to do on her honeymoon.

Now Embry might be a bit old fashioned in that regard but he didn't think Jacob should be sticking his nose into things were it wasn't wanted. Call him a bit old fashioned even more and he really didn't want to know what Bella Swan was doing on her honeymoon. A good looking woman she might be but she had been given a clear choice and she had chosen what she had chosen. Everyone else had accepted it, even Sam.

Not Jacob.

No Jacob wanted war.

Jacob who went tearing over there the second that Bella was sick which was more than what they had been doing.

It didn't surprise him that much, Bella had made her choice and Embry thought that was the end of that. He did wonder why she was still speaking to her father, why she was back home when her father thought she was in a hospital somewhere, why the rest of the Cullen's were still in Forks when the deal was that all of them had to go when the bite happened.

Of course he wondered that. Embry didn't want a war, personally he thought they were too much trouble and if his mother found out she'd kill him and right now his mother was scary. He was going to have to tell her, he thought blindly kicking at a rock as he sat on the beach and watched the waves crash into each other. He was really going to have to tell her at some point but call him crazy, it was his Mom.

And here came the thoughts that he had only ever had when he was human because you could never have these thoughts around Sam…or by association Jared or Paul because it was too hard and involved too much grief and way to much bitching.

But the truth was Embry Call did not want his mother involved in this shit. His mother who had, had him at seventeen, who had followed his father here in the hopes that Embry would have a relationship with him (big surprise that never happened), the woman who had made it work but was still gossiped about, still looked at, still called a whore whenever people were assuming Embry and her weren't listening.

That had been what had stared it off if he remembered right. He'd been in some shitty little office trying to fill out paperwork for financial aid to a college that he was going to go to eventually only to hear the whisper of 'that's Layla Call's son, oh you know Layla, she's the whore that slept with all the married elders, that bastard's got a one in three chance of being on the council'

In hindsight it was extremely fortunate that Paul had also been in the office bitching about detention and had realised what was happening.

His Mom did not deserve to know that because of a one night stand when she was seventeen that turned into an affair because she was seventeen and in love with a man who should have known better, that because of that man who had never so much as sent a paycheque through the mail, he was turning into a monster each night and fighting off vampires.

It's not that he wouldn't think she couldn't cope. If anything his mother would pour a long, tall glass of white wine sit down and demand the entire story it was just that he couldn't think about Emily without replacing her with his Mom. Or Sue and Harry who had known what was going on and had hidden it from their children only to see it all go up in smoke at the end.

Embry sighed and kicked at another rock and wished he was brave enough to go cliff diving again. Or just to fuck the hell off out of here.

"From your lips to God's ears Call"

He flinched turning around to see Leah watching him. She was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt and boots and she had clearly been walking too if the sand stuck to them was anything to go by.

"Leah"

"Embry"

Oh good. This was Leah when she was being civil.

"You heard about Bella Swan?" he asked because he was nothing if not polite and if he was being honest deep down he probably had a great deal more sympathy towards Leah than she deserved or that she got from the rest of them.

"At this point I'm surprised the News at 10 hasn't heard about Bella Swan. I left Seth all but desperate to go and see her and my mother all but threatening to call Sam to get him to stop. So I came here. To be alone" she tacked on as if that was not clear by her very nature. Leah liked to be alone. To be honest if he had been in her shoes he probably wouldn't blame her. If he had been in her shoes he'd probably want to be a bitch all the time too.

"I thought you were due at Emily's?" he said quietly.

Leah nodded sitting down on the rocks next to him. "She's been after me yes"

That was Leah code for Sam all but ordering her to go and see Emily and Sam being Sam was utterly terrified of the day that he was going to have to do that.

"But you're here"

"Funnily enough I didn't feel like looking at flower arrangements today. You know she…" she shook her head suddenly and looked away and then when she spoke her eyes were on the ocean and most defiantly not on him.

"She picked the same venue I did when I was planning my wedding to Sam. I know he officially hadn't asked but…but…hell at this point I may as well give her the dress I wanted. God knows she's got everything else of mine. Even my mother—"

She stopped talking rapidly as if she had said something there that she didn't want to say and Embry had no fucking clue why she was being this honest with him. Maybe this was a breakdown or a breakthrough or…something?

Or maybe it was just because she had needed someone to talk to for a very long time and he was the only one not treating her like a pain in the ass.

Leah was to be fair but Embry didn't treat woman like that. He didn't treat his friends like that, he didn't treat pack like that no matter how good of a shot they got in.

Call him raised right.

God knows he would.

"That sucks" he said finally and he meant it. Leah turned to him for a second and then opened her mouth but whatever she was going to say was interrupted by a howl.

This was not the usual mucking around howl. This was a 'get yourself transformed and get to the pack meeting now cause something has happened howl'.

You do this shit long enough, you know the signs.

Leah gave a long sign.

"I am leaving my boots under that tree. I can't afford to lose anymore" she said flatly and then she unbuttoned her shorts.

Embry caught a flash of red lace and had to look away out of both politeness and fear of embarrassing himself. He was sixteen, she had been days away from her nineteenth birthday when she had stopped aging. He was a teenager. She was (despite everything) a very attractive woman.

And Bella Swan did not do it for him.

So shoot him.

"Go" she said pointing an eyebrow at him and Embry nodded. He shucked his jeans shorts and threw them behind him and then was gone determinedly not looking back.

He assumed she had tucked his shorts in with his boots because a second later her mind joined his and then they were bombarded by the pack and Jacob and what Jacob had seen and…

Oh shit…they were going to war.

Embry didn't know what was happening. Jacob had submitted eventually and Jacob had been the last to fold. Seth was whimpering into his paws and Leah was next to him her expression one of such murder that even if anyone had so much as thought to say anything they'd get their throats ripped out. For all that the Clearwater's bickered they were brother and sister as seen when Seth's mouth curled whenever Sam spoke of the wedding or whenever he and Emily were being sickeningly sweet with each other.

Embry liked Emily, liked her eggs even more and knew she was doing her best to make things easier but sometimes he thought she just didn't get it.

Nothing was going to make this shit show at the fuck factory better.

So they were killing Bella Swan.

Or more actively killing Bella Swan's child.

Great.

It wasn't that Embry wasn't understanding of the situation, there was a very good thing that that…well…whatever the hell it was inside her, was a threat to them and to the whole world. He understood that, it was just the whole…slaughtering thing that he had a problem with. He remembered the Doc when he had come down to help with Jacob. When he had given them all the once over just to check that they were alright. He remembered his wife who for some reason reminded him a little of his Mom when she used to tuck him in at night when he was younger.

And…

And look all things aside Embry had been raised by a woman who had thought Roe v Wade was gospel. He had been raised by a woman who had fallen pregnant at seventeen and had made a choice to have him, he was a pro-choice man and he loathed the thought of telling any woman what do with her own body. He had no relationship with any of his family because of it but the case in point was his mother had chose to have him. Had it been hard, yes. Had he grown up eating a lot of store bought mac and cheese, yes. Had he seen her work three jobs at a time just so she could make car payments yes. But the point of it was she had chosen it.

Embry didn't like the fundamental principal of this. Granted the thing might kill Bella anyway and maybe looking back they'd regret not taking it out now but what was the harm in waiting a couple of days to see what was going to happen?

Idiot Paul thought scathingly.

Menace Leah thought back and Embry blinked because since when did Leah ever defend him?

Jacob looked at him then suddenly and then looked at Sam and it took Embry a moment to realise that he couldn't hear Jacob's thoughts as clearly as he could before, it was like it was the night he had ran away, coming from a long, long distance. He didn't understand what was happening and yet…

He was listening, being forced to listen as Jacob Black, the only grandson of the last chief of this tribe, the man who had been the one to introduce the treaty with the Cullen's take back his heritage. Because Jacob was an alpha, he had given it to Sam out of ease but he could have just as easily have taken it back. It had been the welcome relief, it had been easier sure because if Jacob had insisted he have the power Paul and Jared would have probably gone berserk but it was the fact that he was talking now, taking it back now. Presenting an opportunity that wasn't—

Jesus Leah what was that?

Nothing she snapped at him but whatever else he was going to say was drowned out by the sheer tone of screaming in his head and he dropped to his belly and clamped his paws over his head barely aware of when he shifted back into his human form unaware of the fact that he was naked, uncaring of the fact that everyone else around him was still a wolf. He couldn't take the screaming in his head from his pack brother or his alpha and he gagged into the grass as Quill changed back too his face coated with concern as Jacob Black the one and future alpha turned on his heel and ran into the woods intent on saving his best friend from the insanity that was her choices.

And there you go, I hope you enjoyed this,

Next Chapter-Seth deflects, Leah considers her options, unbeknown to her so does Embry.
