Ron and Hermione couldn't believe it.

Well, especially Ron. How was it possible that, out of all the people he could see in a hospital, on the date of birth of his firstborn, he was in front of Malfoy? And, not only that, but for some kind of twisted joke (Merlin knows why he was doing this to him), his wife was sharing a recovery room with Astoria Greengrass, now Malfoy. St Mungos must be in desperate need of money, because it was just unacceptable.

They both stood there, looking at each other and waiting for their babies to arrive since they had to be cleaned, hos wife didn't seem to notice his annoyance as she was happily chatting with Astoria, Ron had never taken them for friends but after all they worked together at the Ministry he thought, oh his twisted luck.

So, another Weasley to the collection?- Ron realized that he no longer had that look of constant annoyance and superiority on his face, he looked curious and scared almost, as if he had to carefully choose his next words- Congratulations, is this your first?

Ron then realized that he needed to say something, and as much as he wanted to punch him in the face for all of the years of accumulated hatred, Hermione had told him about Astoria's pregnancy, and warned him to not put the kids in any of their past problems. It's true that Draco had apologized a few years prior, but it was hard for him to let it go. Next thing he heard before he realized that Draco was holding out his hand in order to shake it with him, were the nurses entering the room, so he quickly shook it and muttered a 'congrats as well' as he hurriedly went to check on his baby girl.

Oh man, she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, she was all tiny and pink, with the curliest red hair he had ever seen in a newborn, and some deep brown eyes, he didn't know if babies were able to have freckles, but he could swear she had them, to say that he was mesmerized was an understatement. How could something so small have him in such a chokehold.

He looked over to the other couple in the room and caught a glimpse of the baby, a true Malfoy, the baby had silver but messy hair and the most penetrating gray eyes. Draco was starting to tear up and after a while of both couples staring lovingly at their children, both of the wifes engaged in a conversation.

Yes, as I told you we had been thinking of Rose for girl and Hugo for boy, playing with our initials, so I guess this is Rose Nymphadora Weasley-Granger. I actually find her name quite fitting.- Hermione seemed as happy as she had ever been, she was glowing and when she held his little Rosie, it looked like she had been doing it for a lifetime, like it was meant to be.

We have settled for Scorpius, it was hard finding a common ground, he proposed the ugliest names.- Ron chuckled, he didn't love that name either but it was much better than Lucius or Andromedon- but I had to give in with the second name, he wouldn't have it any other way.

Astoria rolled her eyes. He later looked at the name plaque on the babies crib and saw it, Hyperion, of course, he had to have the most made-up name in history, just like a true Malfoy would.

Then a bunch of redheads and black haired people came running into the room, they all stopped in their tracks when they saw the new Malfoys, but soon got out of their surprise and started congratulating them and looking at the baby, when he saw the relief on Draco's face, Ron felt saddened, he was a father as well now, and he wouldn't have liked his daughter to grow up hating her because of what he might have done wrong in his life, his heart softened for him and offered him a warm smile without saying anything, but that had a message, all is forgotten.

They spent the rest of the afternoon with the whole bunch of Weasleys and Rose's new cousin's, Ginny, Hermione and Astoria fantasizing about how their kids would go at Hogwarts at the same time and how they would be 'the odd trio'. They chatted animatedly for hours.

When everyone left, he kept on looking at his baby girl, and realized that Draco had been doing the same exact thing. He didn't hear what the two women were talking about, he thought hearing something about celebrating birthdays together since they had been born on the same day, but he was sure that he just misheard that, Hermione wouldn't have proposed that.

Oh Godrick was he wrong. They had taken the fact that they were both born on the same day as some kind of sign (he had taken Hermione for a wiser witch than that, all things said) and basically raised them together. At first it was weird to have the Malfoys once a week for tea and a playdate, but after seeing how both of the kids got along, they fastly forgot about their differences. Sometimes the Potters would come as well, but Ginny and Harry were quite busy with 3 kids, and one of them being James Sirius, who truly seemed to know who he was named after and lived up to it, so most of the time they would just drop Albus off and later come pick him up. When Hermione and Ginny became pregnant again, they tred to talk Astoria into doing so as well, but she stated that her oven was closed as her pregnancy was quite hard with Scorpius.

He expected the young boy to be jealous of Hugo, they were only two years apart but he was the smallest Weasley, but on the contrary, he adored him. Treated him like his younger brother and attempted to teach him so many things. He hated to say it, but the young Malfoy had won his heart. He was so different from his father, he was warm, funny, loving, quite smart for his age and adored being with friends. Rose on the other hand was the perfect mix of her parents, those freckles he thought had imagined the first day he saw her were very real indeed, and all over her body, he thought it was the cutest thing. She adored brooms just like him and adored anything book or learning related just like his Mione.

That morning his kids woke up at the same time, excited for their birthday, they quickly got them changed and went to The Burrow, where they had planned Rose's and Scorpius' 5th birthday together. Once they arrived, the Malfoy family was already there.

Ron and Draco started talking about their latest discovered shared interest:chess. Ron had found out that Draco enjoyed the game as well and planned on teaching Scorpius, he also found out that he was quite good at it as well (not better than him of course).

Out in the garden, the young Potter siblings, James, Albus, and Lily, were reveling in the chaos of the celebration. James, always the mischievous one, couldn't resist a chance to cause a little trouble. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he scooped up a handful of cake and launched it toward Rose.

The sugary projectile sailed through the air, leaving a trail of frosting in its way. It was aimed straight at Rose, who looked up just in time to see it hurtling towards her. The impact was swift, leaving her covered in cake and tears streaming down her face. When Ron realized it was already too late, he couldn't blame James as he was only a kid himself, but hearing his daughter cry was the most heartbreaking sound of them all.

Oh James, you don't know just how punished you are!- Ginny grabbed his kid and started telling him off for ruining the kids' birthdays. He went to go and comfort his daughter but there was a little someone on the way.

Before anyone could react, Scorpius, ever the protective friend he was, stepped forward with determination in his eyes. His small hand lifted, and with a flick of his wrist, he threw James backwards making him fall on his butt, not hurt but clearly surprised.

Gasps of astonishment and applause erupted from the onlookers. Even Draco, who had been watching from a distance, couldn't hide his pride and amazement nor his pride, the young Malfoy had just done magic for the first time. Rosie, amused by seeing his destructive cousin on the floor started laughing so hard at him, with such glee, that she unintentionally made his ears turn purple, that was her first time doing magic as well. The joy and laughter multiplied as everyone started hugging both kids, and them not really knowing what was happening.

Poor James was embarrassed to the core, that will teach him not to mess with my little girl, Ron thought.

Albus, sensing the moment and realizing that he was not the center of attention (once again) mus had decided that he was tired of it and stepped forward, his determination matching Scorpius'. With a furrowed brow and while looking furious at his brother, after years of pranks and name-calling, gave him a tail. Poor James was redder than all of the family's hair combined and cried to her mother while she praised Albus. She quickly fixed his other son up who spent the rest of the afternoon thinking of a way to get them back.

The garden seemed to hold its breath, enchanted by the display of magic and the bonds of friendship that had formed between these young witch and wizards.

In that moment, as the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the Burrow's gardens, a new chapter began. The legacy of rivalry between families was replaced by a new narrative of unity and friendship. As the evening drew to a close, Scorpius, Rose, Albus, and the rest of the children gathered around a small fire, their faces illuminated by its warm glow. They shared stories and dreams, their laughter ringing out into the night, marking the beginning of a lifelong bond that would forever connect them.

And Ron could only think about two things:

The beautifully wasted cake.

The fact that he was going to have to be much closer with Draco than he was now.

Hello! What did you think? This was the first chapter, as a little introduction to the story, the next chapters will focus on their journey in Hogwarts. I would really appreciate it if you could leave me a review telling me how I can improve or certain things that you would like to see. Once again thank you for reading!
