Chapter 5: Padawan
Plo Koon had been the one to collect his new Padawan from Cathar when she was an infant. She had been the only Force-sensitive one in her litter of 3. Around the home also ran the older litter of 4. Most humanoid species tended to have very similar children from a multiple pregnancy. If one twin was Force-sensitive then the likelihood of the other being Force-sensitive was almost certain. When Tiplar was brought to the temple from Mikkia, the knight noticed Tiplee was also to be a Jedi. By protocol Plo had to test the other 2 in Doryn's litter, despite knowing that Cathar littermates were as likely to be Force-sensitive as standard siblings for other species.
Her eyes were so bright and she shone. She was quick to show her people's loyalty by using her small ability with the Force to fetch things for her littermates. He could feel the pain inside her as they left the planet covered in forest to arrive on Coruscant. He'd remembered what Yoda had said about the pain in a young wookie named Burryaga had felt when leaving Kashyyk. Back then, the Jedi kept many temples and moved their younglings to have them experience the galaxy. Doryn would've been weaned from the forest slowly in those days. Master Plo knew his only option was to take her to the temple on Coruscant and for her to be raised on the city planet. He questioned the course of action he was taking.
He had hoped to take the Cathar girl as his Padawan when she came of age and passed her initiate trials but by that time he had a human Padawan under his care. Bultar had been knighted shortly before Doryn's Master died. He felt in the Force that he was to take her as his Padawan. The only problem was the broken hope within the girl. She had been a ray of sunshine as a child. Plo hoped that her year in the temple would allow her to mourn like a Padawan needed to and to resolve the thing inside her that she had once had with such ease. He had tried to extend the period but Master Yoda had refused. Plo had to give in to him, not only because he was much wiser but because Yoda had watched her attempt to heal in the temple. Plo had heard that it wasn't going particularly well but hadn't realised the extent of it. She'd always been avoidant of conflict and always sought out non-violent solutions but if she had to bond to a kyber crystal after Nicanas' death, it would turn blue. She held two green blades, had a history of peaceful resolution and mostly used the most defensive of the forms but she seemed to itch for violence more and more. It was as if she'd interpreted her Master's death as a lesson from the Force to be the first to strike. Yoda truly saw no path to progress without her being with her coming to Plo.
Plo Koon barely recognised her as having once been the child he'd taken to the temple. He had expected to see the calm exterior he had been told was there by Nicanas, but there was only a hollow shell. He knew that if someone could help her, it would be him. With the wolfpack's help, he was certain that they could help the hollow girl. He hoped, that when he had other duties to tend to, that Wolffe would work to fill her and glue the pieces of her broken soul back together.
