MUGEN
Broken
.
I'm on my way back to our cabin, after a strange and cold day. The snow keeps falling, and will most probably continue to do so throughout the nearing night. I believe you must feel upset; upset, and worried because of how long I've taken to gather some wood.
I've found some, at least.
The pain draws a wince from me, then I look at my chest once again; the resulting gnashes from the demon who attacked me, can be seen through the bloodied red of my haori, the flaring pain making it difficult to breathe. The wound is closing… yet it will need some time to fully heal.
I was careless, absurdly so, deafened as I was by the blizzard around me. The weasel youkai didn't pose much of a threat once my guard was up, albeit the only attack they managed to land was precise, cutting my clothes, my chest… and the kotodama no nenju that I've had with me for years.
I gathered all the pieces I could find. It's strange, given I used to hate the thing.
As I get closer to the cabin, and I manage to catch your scent, my body relaxes almost as if it wanted to heal itself even faster. A hurry spurs my steps, and not long after, I get a glimpse of your figure, standing near the door of our home, wrapped in a blanket to fight the cold. As soon as you see me, you start in my direction, your brow furrowing with each step.
"I was worried, InuYasha. Are you alright?"
You ask as soon as we meet. Then, your gaze drops to my chest, and your fingers touch the haori strips, to then look in distress the crimson ice on them, as they melt before the warmth of your skin.
"You're wounded!"
The shout's inherent desperation finds peace as soon as you meet my eyes.
"I'm alright, Kagome. I'm already healing." I say, then take your hand to gently wipe the blood. "Let's go inside, I don't want you to get cold."
You gesture to take off the blanket, and I know you want to wrap me with it.
"Don't even think about it." I warn you, then see a funny expression on your features, a mix between anger and worry.
Once we are inside, you place a log inside the hearth keeping the house warmth; a pleasant and recomforting feeling that leads me to sit in front of the fire, and rest.
"Take the haori off, I'm going to prepare an ointment to put on that wound." You order, in that hasty and restless tone that gets mixed with your voice when you try to keep your emotions in control.
"Yes, ma'am." I answer.
You look at me again, as I start with my task.
"If you can joke, then you probably aren't terribly injured." There, I finally see a small smile on your features.
But then, I remember something, something that you notice in that moment as well; I see it in your gaze.
"Where is your kotodama no nenju?"
I sigh, before bringing out of my sleeve the bunch of purple and white beads, that then I spread on the wooden floor.
"Broken." I answer.

A/N
This is a moment I had thought of a long time ago, and that only now I was able to finish. I like how it turned out, with that open end for that kotodama no nenju, yet I believe it's asking for a second part.
