Spring

.

I adore spring, when its light begins to warm the grass, and allows me to see how the colors of the forest start to wake, one by one. The scent of the morning changes too, the afternoons last longer, and become filled by so marvelous hues. All of that cheers me up, and even if you can't understand it, I've decided to arrange a set of wild flowers around our cabin.

You can't arrange all the flowers, Kagome, were your words when I told you my idea, this morning, then you added a: you are crazy, woman.

It annoyed me, of course, something I think I made quite clear with my answer: out of here, InuYasha. I don't want to see a hair of you today.

And, most probably, that's why you've been missing so far. It is past mid-afternoon, I realize, as I sigh and stand up, looking on my work, its colors and the small spaces in-between. I've arranged yellow, orange, violet and blue flowers at the feet of the stone lamp, a few meters of our cabin's entrance, and a few more around that same door. Now, all I'm lacking is some water, and you, to make you part of what I've created; otherwise, there wouldn't be any meaning to it.

My steps lead me to the back of our cabin, where the water deposit is, one you take upon yourself to keep full. As I climb the small ladder that allows me to reach the tallest part, and the water, I begin to regret my words from this morning; my reality doesn't have to be the same one you see, after all, and I often forget your world has been, for the most part, radically different from mine.

Once I've gathered the water I need, I make my way back, minding my steps as to not spill the water inside the vase I'm carrying. It is then when I see your figure, appearing from between the trees. Your pace is steady, in my direction, and I know you are coming to help me… but what catches my eye is your clear gaze, a clarity that tells me your emotion has come back, that your heart has become your priority, and that reminds me of the many reasons why I love you.

And among them, the beautiful being you are.

You come two steps from me, and your gaze meets mine as you reach out to me with a hand.

"Need help?" You ask, your voice devoid of any grudge, and one could even say that it was filled by its opposite.

"Thanks." I smile, for it couldn't be any other way.

We walk side by side, towards my afternoon's work.

"I've been with Kaede, and she says she'll go uphill tomorrow, to gather the orange flowers she uses for her unguents," you tell me.

I simply nod.

"InuYasha," I call you. You turn to me, and I smile again. "I love you." I feel the words necessary, for even if I adore spring, it is only perfect when I can share it with you.

You smile back, then lean towards me, leaving a small touch of your lips on mine.

"I know," is you answer, "I love you too."
