Spring is one of your favorite moments in the Earth's cycle; I note it in every single one we've been together, when you wait impatiently for those moments of calm between rainy seasons. In those instants, you take the chance to go out into the forest, looking for those first sprouts of the plants you'll soon harvest. I like to observe the way in which your cheeks are flooded by colors, because of the many things you want to do; and the Sun, which grants us longer and longer days, when it makes you blossom much like fields in the forest. However, it is with the start of summer, that you truly reach your peak. If I don't go after you, you don't eat, you don't drink, you don't shelter yourself from the Sun. The natural world is in its apogee, and you are right there with it.

That's why I'm now on my way to you, bringing with me the umbrella I picked up in one of my travels. I can smell your scent as I approach, and I know I'll find you just over the path that serpents between the trees. I've thought about lecturing you, for you are quite careless for being out at this hour, when the Sun crowns the sky, yet my anger fades away as soon as I see you there, rosy and smiling as you kneel by the grass, recollecting the plants for your alchemy.

When I reach the edge of the tree line, I find a group of bushes adorned by small pink, blue and violet flowers, which form a bigger one. I recall is one of your favorites, because just like you say, with them, the summer arrives.

I reach to it, and take a spray of them. I hid them behind me as I approach you, my mind wondering if I should show concern, or anger even, before how self-absorbed you are; any creature in the forest could attack you. However, in that moment, you address me.

"I have felt you," you voice, and look at me with a smile that, to my taste, rivals the Sun's radiance.

"Kagome, you know this is the worst hour for being out, with the heat and all," I try to regain my composure, and lecture you anyway, so that you take better care of yourself.

"Are you afraid the Sun may tan my beautiful skin?" You ask, with that tone full of mischief you use sometimes, as you lift your hair into an updo that leaves your neck exposed.

"Yes. No. That doesn't matter." I'm slightly bewildered for an instant, from your tone. "It's for your health," I clarify, extending the umbrella I've brought with me, as to cover you.

The flowers I've picked fall then, and your gaze is drawn to them. You pick them up in a delicate gesture, and your smile, joyful before, is now sweet.

"For me?" You ask, looking up to me, covered by the shadow I've conjured.

"For who else?" I advert my eyes to the nearby trees.

You stand up then, to reach my lips. I look at you, smile, then help you get to them.

A/N

I loved to think of this moment, with InuYasha sheltering Kagome from the Sun, as she harvests her medicinal herbs. I hope you've enjoyed too, this instant of imagination.

Kisses,

Anyara
