Author's Note: Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Here we are with the second chapter. Please read and review generously. I hope you all enjoy it. I am humbled by the reception and honored to see you all give the story a chance. The pairings are in flux right now, as I need to think about them a bit more. It might be Naruto/Kara/Mera, or Naruto/Kara/Lena/Mera, or a single one. We will have to see.

This chapter and possibly the next chapter is about expanding on Minato and Atlanna's relationship. In the movie, Atlanna and Tom fell in love instantly. In this story, I want to show a bit more and I hope I do a good job overall. I appreciate your reviews and all your ideas and help. Without further ado, let us begin.

Chapter One- An Unlikely Meeting

"Life is unpredictable. You can plan to the greatest of your ability, but you cannot prepare or anticipate every outcome. The one thing you can do in life is to live it to the best of your ability. Do not depend on fate to guide your actions. The choices you make will ultimately play a role in how life can go for you." Uzumaki Naruto

"Life is harsh and unpredictable. I have made many mistakes and have lost many loved ones. Yet, I will never choose to define myself by my past. I too am worthy of the best that life has to offer. I will never forget the people that I love. Yet, they would never wish for me to wallow in misery." Namikaze Minato, aka, Thor.

"I threw caution to the wind and fled my home and everything that I knew… and almost died. I had wished to escape my circumstances and my fate. In the end, while my joy was short-lived, I never regretted a moment of it. Though it was temporary, for a moment, I had a better life. I will never regret that man or the son he gave me." Queen Atlanna, ruler of Atlantis, Naruto's mother

Namikaze Minato lazily tapped the table with his fingers as he stared down his beautiful opponent. Meanwhile, the lady of Atlantis clutched her wounded side and was trying to calculate many scenarios in her mind as she held her quindent. This man in front of her was evidently powerful and strong. She had no idea where he got his might from.

Yet, she would not cower. She would rise to face any challenge. She did not regret leaving her home, to escape an unwanted marriage and an unwanted life. Whosoever this man was, he was facing an Atlantean of royal blood. He would fall to her.

She had thrown the quindent at him and to her utter shock, he caught it one hand and tossed it aside as he walked up to her. She entered a stance as she unleashed a volley of punches and kicks with such speed that Minato was stunned for a brief moment as he was knocked backward.

He had recovered quickly, only for the woman to grab him and slam him violently into the floor as she kicked him into a wall as he crashed through it.

She was stunned again as she looked at Minato get up, wiping some blood from the corner of his mouth as he smiled at her. Minato realized that the royal woman in front of him was indeed strong, strong enough to hurt even him. He was impressed as he felt the call of the fight in his blood.

"You are clearly a powerful woman. Despite being so wounded, you fight so fiercely. Still, it will not be enough to defeat me. And since you are not the type of person to listen to reason, I believe I must end this fight now, my way."

Before Atlanna could register anything, Minato's eyes glowed blue as he rushed forward and buried his fist inside her wounded side. She screamed in pain, as he kicked her across the face, sending her flying outside of his house. She had landed in pain, right where he had found her.

Before she could get back up, Atlanna was kicked violently into the air and slammed back to the ground as he had a firm grip on her head. Atlanna could see lightning covering his body and his eyes glowed as the clouds rumbled powerfully and a bolt of lightning hit the area.

"You are strong. Yet, I will not hesitate to defend myself. You are wounded and in pain. You will die without medical attention. Let me help you… and then we can have a rematch later if you like, okay?"

Minato gave her a giant megawatt smile as Atlanna was confused by all of this. It was clear to her that this man stronger than she was and was clearly not a human. While she could see warmth on his face, she could see the rage and calm in his eyes. This human was indeed a warrior and not a normal one. Before she could give an answer, she had passed out.

Minato shook his head. "This woman… she reminds me of Kushina and Sif; fierce, beautiful, wrathful, and powerful. It's just my luck that this is the type of woman to end on my doorstep. I wonder why the universe hates me so much."

Minato shook his head as he brought her back into the house. He needed to get her patched up and send her away quickly. Something in his gut told him this woman was trouble. She did not escape easily from wherever she was running from. And the last thing he needed was an army at his doorstep.

The sounds of the birds chirping and the rays of the sun had made Atlanna open her eyes. She slowly looked around and realized she was back inside the same house. When she turned around, she was face to face with the black cat as they both stared at one another, trying to guess each other's next move. The cat then walked over to her and rubbed its face against hers before finding a comfortable spot on another sofa and yawned as it decided to sleep.

Atlanna noticed that her wound was healed and she was ravenous. She had not eaten in a while. Not to mention the fact that she was confused about the blonde man she fought. He clearly was a mighty force and an interesting enigma. However, at this moment her hunger was the thing that needed to be fixed.

She looked around and saw a goldfish bowl and plucked the fist out of the bowl and placed it in her mouth as the cat looked at her with disgust, muttering something. She turned around to hear the chuckle of said blonde as he was carrying two cups of tea and sat opposite her as she scooted back.

"If I knew you were hungry… I would have made you breakfast. Please, don't eat the cat okay? She does not taste good."

The cat gave Minato the stink eye before making itself comfortable on his lap. He gave a mug of tea to Atlanna who looked at him cautiously, eying the strange green liquid.

"You are quite wise and smart. You are wise to distrust a stranger. Yet, I promise, I will not harm you. This is just tea. It will help to calm you and make you feel better. Please blow on it slowly and then drink."

Naruto showed her the way to do it, and Atlanna mimicked his movements as she drank the tea. She paused to enjoy the flavor and it did indeed bring some sense of calm. It was also a bit sweet on her tongue which she enjoyed.

"So… not to be rude, but who are you exactly? Normally, woman wearing intricate crowns and wielding weapons like yours are not a common occurrence."

"Oh, I am Atlanna, the Queen of Atlantis." Atlanna said that as if they were discussing the weather.

Minato shook his head. Great, it was his destiny to end up with this problem.

"Oh, that's great. Get out."

Atlanna was confused. "What?"

"My mistake. I forgot my manners. Please finish your tea and get out."

"I do not understand. What have I done wrong?"

Minato sighed. "Listen, you are okay, you are good. Yet, you are royalty, and a Queen no less. They will send an army to find you. I don't need any attention on my life. Look, its not personal, but you need to go home and figure out this problem for yourself. I don't want it in my home."

Atlanna placed the mug on a table and calmly stared at Minato. He could see the fire and resolve in her eyes as well as the calm.

"Listen, I am grateful for what you have provided for me, I am. Yet, I have no regrets in running away or leaving my home. You cannot understand my pain or my situation. That thing between your legs shields you from many things. Yet, I, a woman, even a Queen, cannot escape unreasonable things. I was arranged to marry a man I did not wish to marry. I was expected to bear that man a son. I fled my home and everything I knew to escape that fate. And I was attacked for it. I am not returning to my home so I can marry a man I do not like and bear children I do not wish to bear. What could you possibly understand?"

Atlanna regretted her last words being so sharp and bitter, but she refused to be judged by a man for this. Minato sighed as she realized he touched upon a subject that he had no idea. However, he refused to take shit from anyone. After what he had been through, he was no longer anyone's puppet.

"I apologize. I did not know about your situation. You are right… I do not know about it. I am not a woman, so I cannot understand your pain. Yet, you must understand this. You have not lived longer than I have, and I understand pain and suffering very well. I have had my own lessons regarding that. You cannot run from your problems, they will come back to haunt you. You have to learn to accept the cards that you have been dealt and play the hand you have been dealt. No one, not even a man or woman can truly escape fate and destiny. We can make choices, but we will have to accept that you cannot change everything."

"Right now, Atlanna, you are also being selfish. Kings and Queen cannot live for their own desires. That station is title is much larger than your desires. It is sad, but it is something you must reconcile. We all make sacrifices to protect our people and our hearts. In the end, we must learn to swallow our bloody tears. You can dread it, you can run from it, destiny arrives all the same."

Atlanna was stunned as she did not have a quick retort or reply for this answer. Minato sighed as he got up and placed his cat on the sofa as he looked at Atlanna again.

"I hope you can find peace and love. I have known it before and am fortunate to have savored love and its peace. Only few can have it all truly. You may stay here if that is your wish. I will not interfere in your life. You can also learn to live life like a surface-dweller. Just, don't pull any fish from the ocean and eat it raw. People will look at you funny."

Atlanna looked at his retreating back as she nodded her head and shed a tear.

"Thank you, stranger."

Atlanna had kept to her word and stayed out of trouble and kept a low profile. She had settled into a simple routine as she woke up and observed the surface above her. The people were happy, hard-working, and enjoyed a good day of work, a delicious meal, and the comfort of family.

It was much different from the tales of what she heard in Atlantis. Her view of the surface was changed now. Of course, there were good and bad people, but being less judgmental and being more trusting was not a horrible thing. Perhaps, one day, coexistence between the surface and the sea was something that could be done.

Atlanna enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and the sea on the surface, the rays and warmth of the sun and the power of the rain and the sounds of lightning. She ate and enjoyed food that she never tasted before.

Minato had cooked for her without complaint. She wondered why he was so charitable and kind to her, as she tried to take his life before. They did not always eat in silence. He had educated her about the surface, and she too told him about Atlantis and its past. She came to enjoy his smile, and the kindness he showed her. Yet, she could also see that he was afflicted by a deep, cold sorrow that ate at him.

Some days, he would cry out for a woman named Sif and Kushina, and for a child. As much as Atlanna wished to wipe away his tears, it was not her business. These memories were personal and she had no right to intrude on them. The only thing she could do for him was protect him in case Atlantis caught up to her. She was still confused about what she should do with her life.

And as time passed, she got to see her first glimpse of snow. It felt so pure and ethereal as she could see children and adults playing in the snow. And Minato had introduced her to the art of superhuman snowball fights. It felt quite fun to throw snowballs, make snowmen and make snow angels. Perhaps, she truly was wrong about the surface. Perhaps, while it had its bad, it still had good things to it.

She one day found herself in the Lighthouse enjoying the snow as she felt cold. Minato came and placed a warm blanket on her shoulders. She gently held his hand and asked him to sit beside her as they enjoyed the weather in silence.

Atlanna had made up her mind and wished to stay on the surface and never return to Atlantis. She held Minato's hand as she smiled at him and he returned her smile. Perhaps, it was her good fortune that she ended up here with a man who could understand her to a degree.

He cooked for her, he educated her, he taught her much about life and sacrifice. He never yelled at her and treated her with respect, decency, and virtue. She had no idea what this all meant. She had escaped Atlantis looking for something different, and in the end, found a place she could call home.

As she observed Minato, she realized that he must have lived a difficult life. The way he spoke about sacrifice, duty, love; he had already experienced an interesting life. Perhaps, he was ashamed of his past and looking to make amends. Perhaps, he too was looking to escape his past and looking to create a brighter future.

Whatever the case may be, Atlanna saw that Minato was not the man he was once was. He was looking to live in peace and live a simple life, something that she was once longed for and now had the chance to live. She would always be grateful to him for giving her a true home.

Minato sighed as he prepared for another night of sleep. He had been intrigued and came to be impressed by his new house guest. She was kind, compassionate, and learned to stay out of trouble. She had become a friend to the locals in town and had been a good sparring partner for him.

Originally, he wanted nothing to do with this woman. Yet, hearing her past and what she had given up softened his heart. She too was looking for a second chance and humbly needed help. He had no right to judge anyone considering his own past. He too had been running from his own sins. Yet, he was grateful for the fact he was no longer anyone's monster.

As he lay on his bed, he kept the memories of his slain child, of Sif and his children, and of Kushina close to his heart. He did not deserve such a family with all the blood on his hands. Yet, they were the last link to a once happy life. He would never forget them.

Yet, before he could visit the land of dreams, he heard a knock on his door and his eyes bulged at what he saw. It was Atlanna, naked as the day she was born, holding a towel as she gently walked in. He could see love and passion in her eyes, and this scared him. It had been years since he had been with a woman and it scared him to be with one again.

"Atlanna… what are you…"

Atlanna placed a hand on his lips and softly kissed him. It was sweet, calm, and yet full of passion. She gently grabbed his hand and beckoned him to stand as she stood so close to him. She circled him for a moment as she stared at his body and stood in front of him. He was unnerved by the effect she was having on him and she smirked in response.

"Minato, I ran away from my home… to avoid a marriage and life I did not want. And coming here, you have given me more than I deserve. You are right. Only very few get to choose love, and I choose you. If I wish to give myself to someone, it will be you and you alone. I make the choice of giving you that right to love me and cherish me."

"My choice is this. I…I love you, Minato. You are the one who has stolen my heart. Sometimes, unlikely people find a way of coming together, and making the best of their lives. Now, will you grant my wish? Will you allow me to experience a love I desire, a love I feel is pure and just?"

Atlanna could say nothing else as Minato hugged her fiercely and she returned his hug. He kissed her boldly and fiercely as his hands rested on her firm, round bottom as he squeezed and caressed it. She had moaned gently as they broke the kiss. She ran her hands down his stomach as they nodded at one another. This night would become the night that Atlanna would cherish forever.
