Reunion

Izuku ran across the sandy shore of Degobah Beach in a streak of green sparks, off to the side sitting on a bench was All Might in his civilian clothing fit for his smaller frame. Stopping the timer on his phone, he watched as his successor slid to a stop in the sand and turned towards him expectantly, "A new time! Only twenty six seconds young Midoriya!" he told him happily as his student beamed. Even with the final exam for the semester over, Izuku had been determined to keep on top of his training, and given how he still needed to further his experience with One for All and his new Full Cowling, physical exercise on the beach was perfect for it.

Izuku jogged over to his sensei, "I think I'm starting to get a better handle at moving around with Full Cowling activated." He said, looking down at his open palms.

"That's natural." All Might informed him, "However bear in mind that your only operating at 5% of full power right now. Once your body is able to withstand higher percentages of One for All, you'll need time to adjust to each new increment based on how higher the percentage." The symbol of peace told his successor warily. Given how Midoriya's body couldn't handle On for All at 100% like he could initially, it meant that any percentage over the limit he was able to withstand could be harmful.

And while Recovery Girl's refusal to treat his injuries from such accidents were harsh, ultimately she was right. He needed to help Midoriya safely regulate his quirk.

Izuku stared down at his hands for another second before looking up at his teacher, "Right, so I'll have to be able to adjust to 5% for now." He said in understanding. "When I first used it, it felt like my whole body was tense with power, but now it feels less so." He admitted. Izuku's excitement faltered slightly at the memory, it was because of Mako's guidance that he was able to finally understand how to properly use One for All properly.

It had only been last night that Mako had invited him to his home, and when a possible danger showed up in the form of the alien looking like his favorite comic book character, what did he do? Nothing, because he wasn't allowed to do anything, "All Might….can I ask you something?" he asked.

His mentor's head tilted slightly in curiosity, "Of course young Midoriya."

Izuku searched for the correct way to phrase the question in his mind, "All Might, do you think it's right to ignore the law if it means doing something that's right?" he asked.

The way All Might's eyes widened showed that he was not entirely expecting that question from his pupil, however it was short lived as he considered the recent circumstances. Gran Torino had informed him of Izuku, Iida, and Todoroki's actions regarding the Hero Killer. And while he was proud that his student for his actions, he couldn't just ignore that his pupil had broken the law and acted as a vigilante to do so.

But then again, he'd be lying if he said that he never skirted the rules to uphold justice, back in his youth he didn't exactly play things strictly by the book, but then again back in his day there wasn't a firm a structure to the hero society as there was now. And the laws in place regarding quirks were there for a reason, "I suppose that depends entirely on the circumstances that your facing, in regards to the Hero Killer situation, I think you should have followed the rules."

Izuku's head dipped down with disappointment at the answer, "However I'm guessing that this doesn't have anything to do with that situation." The symbol of peace assumed.

The green haired boy nodded, "Y-Yeah…it's just that…..yesterday when Mako thought we were in danger, he leapt into action. And I was going to do it too, but then I stopped when I remembered what the chief of police told me and the others." He explained. Their warning from the top dog of the law still fresh in his mind, "But…..I'm supposed to be your successor, and I feel like I could be doing more like Mako is." he explained.

His hands ran up into his hair, "I don't mean to sound like I'm jealous! I'm glad that Mako is able to help other people, it's just….I want to help too." He said.

All Might pursed his lips, on the one hand he completely understood Midoriya's desire to help people like his friend. And he was also right that Mako was doing good…..but the other hand was that it was at Cecil's beck and call for the most part. As a matter of fact, when Midnight informed the rest of the teachers of U.A. what was transpiring with Mako leaving the planet again, but this time against Cecil's wishes, a small part of him was relieved that Mako wasn't taking orders blindly.

"Midoriya I want you to listen closely." He began, Izuku's green eyes locked onto his as he smiled, "It speaks a lot to your character as a person that you wish to help people, but the laws are in place for a reason. And despite your recent growth, you are still Students who need to learn, and more importantly grow. As for Mako…" he trailed off before letting out a sigh. "To be entirely honest Midoriya, his situation doesn't sit well with me."

Izuku blinked in surprise, "But-wait, what? Why?" he asked. "I understand that Mako is a student too but…..if he didn't do what he's done, then people would have gotten hurt. Or even worse, right?"

All Might raised his hand, "Let me clarify, I think that Mako is doing good work…..but I don't trust Cecil." He clarified.

Izuku once more looked at his mentor in surprise, while he wouldn't say that All Might was easy to trust, he was someone who always gave people the benefit of the doubt. In fact this might be the first time he's ever heard him say that he distrusts anyone. However as he's learned with All Might's brief history of One for All, there was a lot he still had to learn about his mentor. "But….why? He's with the Hero Safety Commission, he's in charge of them in fact."

All Might held up his finger, "He can bypass them. And the various government agencies of the world are not always fans of that. Mako's employment with him as I understand it was something that caused a lot of contention." He informed his pupil, thinking back to the teacher meeting shortly after the USJ incident. "And Cecil…he's someone who would do anything to ensure peace….."

At face value that sentence might seem like a good thing, but from All Might's tone Izuku could tell that it was anything but that. "Do….do you think that Mako could be in….danger?" Izuku asked unsurely.

All Might shook his head, "No, I don't believe so, Cecil isn't a villain or anything, his motives are good intentioned. But Young Mako has shown a concerning trend." He said to Izuku. "He has shown time and time again that he is willing to do what he believes is right, even if it means ignoring the laws in place put to protect him." He explained.

Izuku frowned, "But Mako didn't have a choice, when his father revealed his true colors-"

All Might raised a hand, "I realize that Midoriya, however that's not what I'm referring to. His actions during his mission with Thirteen, he explicitly disobeyed her order to return to the ship and instead stayed behind to fight the Kresh. And was then captured by them. He left Earth against Cecil's wishes to help these new aliens, and even with your final exam with me, he didn't try to work with Bakugo. Though admittedly that last one is less serious, it does show a pattern." He explained.

Izuku folded his arms over his chest as he looked down in thought, "And your worried that if Mako does this with Cecil…then he might hurt him or wose." He realized. "And you don't want me in that position either? Because he might order me to do things I won't agree with?" he asked.

All Might nodded grimly, "Yes. I know your heart is in the right place Midoriya, and I can see you want to help your friend, and the world. And your time will come, but you have to be patient." He said.

Izuku's brow furrowed in frustration, while that was undoubtedly true that wasn't all. Mako had been in his metaphorical corner his entire life, and time and time again he saw Mako step up to fight. While he had been….useless, no, less than that, he had been a hinderance. And helping Mako during the invasion had showed him that he could actually, finally, pull his own weight in their friendship.

I'm not going to be burden to him anymore. Not after all he's done for me. He thought with determination. "I understand All Might…..is it ok if we keep going? The sooner I get this down the better, like you said."

The symbol of peace nodded, noticing how his protégé didn't verbally agree with him, in truth there was a small chance that Midoriya would possibly have to do what Mako did and technically breached the quirk regulation laws. He had done once so already with Stain, though the circumstances around that particular case were extreme. But given how All for One, the symbol of fear and villainy, has seemingly survived their last climatic encounter, it might also not be the last.

The symbol of peace sighed, Cecil must suspect the same thing as he and Gran Torino did, which would also explain why he was so adamant that Mako stay here on Earth. Nolan wasn't there when he last faced All for One six years ago, but if he had been then there was likely no doubt that they would have been able to permanently silence the symbol of fear.

And with both Mako and Midoriya both growing in strength, and All for One returning….they might be the ones who will be able to do what he was not.

Melissa adjusted her glasses as her Aunt all but crushed her in the farewell hug, "I'm going to miss you!" she whined jokingly as she had seen loved ones do. Melissa rolled her eyes but hugged her back, "And remember what I said, if you ever need anything-" she started as she set her niece down on the ground in front of her.

"I just need to call, I know Aunt Cathy." She replied with a smile, her aunt wore her hero costume for her dramatic departure. It was a skintight costume with a cape, all of which draped in the colors and patterns of the United States flag. She reached out and ruffled the top of Melissa's head affectionately before launching herself into the air as a squadron of black jets flew by. While Melissa couldn't see it, Stars and Stripes landed on one of the lead jets with a smile plastered over her face as they few off towards the West.

Melissa smirked to herself, her Aunt's quirk, new order, allowed her to basically change any two things about reality around her. While that sounded like a impossible and overwhelming power, which it could be, it had it's own set of limitations, mainly that she needed to make physical contact with whatever she was imposing a rule over. So doing something seemingly impossible as leaping high enough to land on a jet plane was easy for her.

As she turned to leave, her gaze lingered on the sky for a brief moment, while she had played off Mako's departure to space yesterday, that didn't mean that she wasn't worried about what could happen. But given the dire situation of what happened last time, there wasn't much else that could happen to him that could be worse.

Walking back to her home, she took the elevator up to the floor where her and her father's suite was. Entering the living room area, she called out, "Dad! I'm back from seeing Aunt Cathy off!" she got no response back.

Walking through her home, a familiar sensation of trepidation crept up her spine. It's ok, Sinclar is gone, thrown away in some hole somewhere. She gently reminded herself to try and muffle the remnants of irrational fear that lingered in her mind. Waling down the primary hall of their residence, she saw the door to her father's office was cracked and heard him speaking. The tension left her, See? He's just on his phone, nothing to worry about. She told herself, passing by to the 'garage'.

It wasn't their actual garage, in fact nobody on I-Island had one since there was no roads that were wide enough for anything faster than a golf cart, but it was what they called their shared workshop.

Espically since 'workshop' sounded like everything was neatly in order, while this was anything but on her father's side. Her side of the large room was neat and tidy, something she must have gotten from her mother since she clearly didn't get it from her father. On her desk was the final project she was working on for this semester, a deployable safety harness.

The idea was that the bright yellow cocoon would be constructed around a person like a sleeping bag. Entrapping them and keeping them safe in unsafe conditions. They came with a twenty four hour oxygen supply, a homing beacon, and a flashing light to help rescue teams find the occupants.

The standard sized one was about the height of her father, with a flexible metallic square shell. On the bench itself was the same support item but in it's inert form, which was just under the size of a game controller. Opening the casket version, she looked inside at the markings she had scribbled on, Hmm, maybe I can fit some protein bars and water inside in case people are trapped for a prolonged period of time? She pondered to herself.

Hearing the door open behind her, she didn't turn to her father, "Hey dad do you think a pouch in here would work? I was thinking of having a compartment but I think it might-" she begun before feeling a familiar hand on her shoulder. She stopped and smiled before clasping her hand over it.

Aunt Cathy and her father had a good relationship, after her mother passed during childbirth she had come to live with her and the then infant Melissa for a number of years before finally moving away. And Melissa remembered that whenever she came to visit, her father would have a forlorn mood for a while. He told her when she was older that it was due to him missing her mother, and it made her heart break a little, "I love you papa." She said.

He squeezed her shoulder, "I know honey. I love you too…now what about pouches?" he asked, kneeling beside her and looking inside the project with her.

"This is the beginning of a long journey for you and me."

Those words hung in Mako's head as he stared in utter disbelief at his father, never had he even considered this meeting as a possibility of why the aliens would want him specifically to come to their planet. But it made perfect sense, they knew him by his name, where he lived, hell they knew about goddamn Science Dog! Things his dad….his father, knew.

Nolan looked about how Mako remembered him, his black combed back hair with grey on the sides, his mustache over his upper lip, the only change since their last confrontation was his father's apparel. Long gone was his Omni-Man costume that he wore, instead he wore a pure white tunic and pants beneath a gold pated chest plate that wrapped around his lower sides and shoulders with a matching pair of greaves. Along his hips was a red skirt that matched the cape he wore which was clamped down with a button on his shoulder.

"Dad?" he asked in a small whisper. It may as well have been a shout with how dead silent the large room was. The guards who linned the halls of the palace shifted somewhat as Nolan inhaled a breath through his nose.

"Yes son, it's me." Confirmed Nolan. Mako's limp hands tensed into fists along with the rest of his body, Nolan noted the shift in his son's posture, his expression slightly tensed in response. "Son?" he asked, being met only with silence. "Mako?" he asked once more in anticipation, his own hands clenching into fists.

"Dad?" Mako asked again.

Tears streamed down his face, "DAD?" he asked once more before moving.

Nolan's arms raised up as Mako slammed into him, wrapping his arms around his father's shoulders and squeezing for all he was worth, Nolan let out a noise at the unexpected physical contact. "Oh god….dad." he heard Mako say into his shoulder. Nolan's hands were still raised in clenched fists, expecting a more violent reaction from his son, which left the flabbergasted Nolan to turn his head slightly at his boy's affection. "Mako….I…." he began before the tenseness left his own body.

He wrapped his arms around his son in return, "Oh Mako I've missed you." He said, and Mako could tell he was being truthful.

Pulling back, he suddenly shoved Nolan, "Missed me?!" he barked at his father, tears still streaming down his face, "Dad you just left! After all that shit you told me! You just left me there!" he shouted at him in frustration, Nolan's face morphed into shock before looking down and closing his eyes in shame. "You-you-killed people! So many innocent people-you told me you didn't love mom-and -and-" Mako wiped the tears away only to have fresh ones take their place, "You left us! You just left….and you….." he blabbered in frustration.

Mako's shoulders slumped as he continued to cry, "You didn't come back….you left me, and mom….and I've been trying to….pick up the pieces….." he swallowed the lump that had quickly forming in his throat. "Just…..come back….please dad…." He asked.

Mako knew as soon as the private wish left his mouth how childish it sounded, but deep down it was what he wanted. Even after everything Nolan was till his dad, the dad who raised him and loved him. He felt his father's hands on his shoulders, looking up he saw the sorrowful expression on his father's face. "I'm sorry Mako…..but I can't….after everything I did? Earth would never let me back….I can never go back there. This is my home now."

Mako let the last of his tears fall freely in silence before wiping them off with the back of his hand and looked up at his father, Nolan looked around to the guards, "Leave us." He commanded. The insectoid people all bowed before filing out of the room.

As they left, and Mako's bearing slowly began to return to him a hundred questions popped to mind. One stuck out as the most important, "How do I know your actually my dad, and not just another shape changing thing like Science Dog?" he asked suspiciously, looking over his dad once more.

Nolan's lip twitched a little, "Punch me."

Mako blinked, "What?"

"Hit me as hard as you can, if I was an Imposter then-"

WHAM!

Before Nolan could finish his sentence, Mako's fist landed a jab to his head, Nolan slid acoss the ground a few feet, wincing, "Shit!" he cursed out, holding his nose that was slightly bleeding.

"Sorry! Sorry, didn't want you to have a chance to pull anything if it was a trick. I'm conviced." Mako said quickly.

Nolan raised a hand, "Its fine…you've gotten much stronger son." He said with pride in his voice. Mako felt warmpth at the statement before quickly tempering it, Nolan noticed his shift in posture, "I…..if you want another shot in-"

Mako shook his head, "No, no I…..you did so many horrible things dad….I can't just…forgive you for it. But….that doesn't erase everything else you've done…..it doesn't mean it erased the years of you being a good father to me." He said, looking up at his dad. "I can't let what you did erase that…..I've tried and…" he shook his head. Nolan's lips tightened together, it hurt to hear of course but he understood, and it was more than fair. "Ok second question, how did you even get here?" he asked, gesturing around to the planet, "And how are you ruling this place? It's only been six months since I last saw you and the place looks….intact."

Nolan nodded, "Well first thing's first, how I got here." He began, "I spent thousands of years living as a Viltrumite before I came to Earth. But being there, it…..it changed something in me." He admitted, looking down at his hands as they clenched into fists, "The ways of the Viltrumite are simple, you defied me, and to defy the empire means death. I believed I would do it, that I would kill you to fullfill my mission if need be. You were weak, and thus deserved to die." He explained.

Mako swallowed audibly, "But when faced with the reality of it….of you not joining my mission, when there was no other option but to kill you…I couldn't." he admitted, his fists falling away. "The only choices I had were to kill you, and continue to enslave the Earth, or leave Earth…leave you…..I choose to leave."

Nolan let out a long breath, "It wasn't….it was the hardest choice I had to make, I turned my back on my people, my heritage, my home. The same would be if I had listened to you and stopped fighting then and there." He explained, looking at his son. Mako frowned but remained silent as he looked at the situation from his father's perspective.

"I was a fugitive from my own people, and it'd only be a little time before they learned of my betrayal. I choose to hide instead of turn myself in, I thought that if I could conquer a similar planet, they might lessen my punishment. And so I left in search of a planet." He explained, spreading his arms out in a wide arc to gesture to the planet they were on now. "It was sheer luck that I found this place and their people."

Mako ran a hand through his hair, "Holy shit…" he breathed out as his father approached him, "So you just…..conquered these guys? In six months?" he asked.

Nolan made a face, "Not exactly as you might think. These people are vastly different from humans, technology and evolutionary wise they're similar to where humans are, but they are advanced in ways that humans are not just as much as they are less." He explained as he led his son towards the large doors of the throne room. "For instance their lifespan is only nine months."

Mako blinked in surprise, "What?!" he yelped.

"Yes, but because of that genetic handicap, they've evolved to the point of being able to learn instantaneously with perfect memories. And since they have their elders be the ruling class of their people, once they learned how old I was? They elected me as their ruler immediately." Nolan went on as he opened the doors and led Mako along the walkway.

Mako then noticed that the large crowd that was there when he arrived had quickly dispersed and people were moving about their day as though it was any other. "So you basically just….waited them out?" he asked, "And they just handed control over to you?" he asked.

Nolan nodded, "You have to understand son, Earth's systems of government aren't how they function across something as vast as the universe. Let alone how culturally different they are." He pointed out as they walked towards a large spire that was reaching as far down as it was upwards on the arched city.

"Ok, question number three, why did you call for me now? I mean what do you need me here for if you're here?" he asked in confusion.

They entered the tower as Nolan answered, "Viltrum knows that I'm here, and they're coming for me."

Every hair on Mako's body stood on end and at attention, "What?! When? How?" he asked.

Nolan shook his head as they entered, turning to his son, "I'm not sure, we don't have the technology for deep space communication here, we can observe distant systems like Earth. And we spotted a Viltrumite ship coming towards us a week ago. We don't know when exactly they'll arrive, I haven't been in the loop on any technological advancements that the empire has had so it could be sooner than I expect." He explained.

Mako swore under his breath, his first thought was reaching out to Allen and the Collation of Planets, but for one he didn't know where the hell they were in all of space. And even if he did Nolan himself said that they couldn't communicate with deep space civilizations. Before he could speak however, one of the blue skinned insectoid people entered the room, Nolan saw them and smiled before giving Mako a look, "One moment." He said as the bug woman approached him.

His dad then tongued the blue ant alien.

"Huh?" Mako blinked.

"Evening dear." Nolan greeted the insectoid woman who smiled at him.

Mako's jaw was hanging off his mouth, "I…..what!?" he asked.

Nolan put his arm on the woman's shoulder and turned her to him, "Oh! Right, of course, this must be somewhat shocking to you Mako, this is my Mate, Andressa." He introduced her, the insect woman smiling welcomingly as she bowed her head.

"Hello Mako, it's nice to finally meet you. Nolan has told me much about you." She greeted raising a hand. Mako numbly raised his own to shake it, his mouth not closing, "Is this one of those strange earth customs you told me about?" she asked him.

Mako nearly gaffawed, what he was doing was strange?!

Sensing his son's mood shift, Nolan turned to his mate, "You go on ahead, I'll be a moment." He said, Andressa nodded and walked past Nolan towards another room, when the door closed, Nolan turned to his son. "Mako-"

"WHAT THE SHIT?!" he exclaimed at the top of his lungs.

Nolan raised his hands, "Son, please, let me explain." He said as his son raised his hands to the sides of his head and begun to pace back and forth. "I accepted that I can never return to Earth, I realized that I needed to try and move on-"

"Move on!?" Mako exclaimed again, anger overtaking him, "Is that what this is, the Viltrumites are coming, you have a planet for them to take, and what? You call me up here to say, 'Well hey I'm gonna ditch you again, see you around!'"? he asked accusingly.

Nolan shook his head, "No." he said firmly, "Mako, listen to me, I will NEVER abandon you again. I left because it was either that, or I would have to kill you to conquer the earth. And I couldn't do that….I could never do that. And so I turned my back on the empire…for you." He said with a firm but patient voice. The kind he would use when Mako did something that he didn't like but wouldn't try to get mad about.

Mako looked at the door his father' mate went through, "But….what about mom?" he asked.

Nolan's expression changed, "I….that's not something we can discuss right now….there's something else I need to show you." He said as he walked to the door he had looked at, his son following him and opening the door.

Mako felt his blood run cold at what he saw. "Dad…what is that?" he asked in a small voice.

On the floor of the room was Andressa, and across from her was an infant…..

A human infant with purple skin.

"That….is your little brother Mako."

AN: Ok honestly I was going to make this longer but….come on that's the perfect cliffhanger to leave this on XD.

Also happy anniversary to this fanfic! It's been one year, 33 chapters, over 290k words, over 700 follows, favorites, and reviews, and we're not even close to this being over!

I also want to take this as a chance to call to attention something very near and dear to my heart. The web series RWBY has been on for ten years now and is almost at it's conclusion, but due to company bullcrap, the company hasn't been greenlit for another season yet. So I'm asking you to support this show, it's messages have personally helped me through some though times in my life, and without it I may never have gone on the life path I've started down. Tweet it, watch it, review it, buy it, whatever it takes just please.

It doesn't affect this fic or anything but it's really one of my favorte shows and deserves the love it gets.

Now onto reviews:

Superpierce: Nolan actually appears again in issue 25, only thirteen issues after we last see him in the comics. But this felt right around that point.

TheRealD3lph0xL0v3r: It's just that Bullies are a real thing that people deal with, while the things that Nolan did are not. And honestly even if you take out his first appearance, Bakugo is still a asshole.

KaijuEmperor: Oh man you thought it was awkward before XD

Super Comrade: Hang on to that, it's a tool we'll use later on.

Engineer4Ever: Their ages are changed, that's all.

Ben: I meeeeaaaannnnnn ex-nay on the spolider-ey but yeah. I still gotta work that into this.

Magnounce: Not really, Dragon Ball crossovers just don't really do it for me, I mean I grew up with DBZ but weirdly enough I don't think I've ever had the interest in doing a fanfic over it.

Guest 1: Yes I am going to make an attempt to do more POV from different characters like you mentioned, I think doing it here worked since it mirrored what Mako was going through with both Deku and Melissa dealing with parental figures like Mako was.

And Honestly I usually cut to the story quickly because I hardly ever see people with crossover fics get that far in the story of what they're doing. Like if you look at RWBY crossovers, I haven't seen many, if any at all, that get past season 5 of the story. Or even season 3 for that matter.

But your right, there's nothing wrong with having a couple chapters where we can let the characters breathe and have the story decompress. Hoenstly I think a lot of that will happen once they move into the dorms. I'm working on that now.
