Chapter 8
I grabbed my notebook and a pencil, than sat on the middle of the floor. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes, then touched the skull.
It was the same as before. The image of the spiky haired youth, on his knees. I watched his mouth. It was mumbling once more. I focused. It looked like it was saying, "help me". I opened my eye. It was darker inside the room. I looked out the window. It was evening. Then there was a knock on the door.
"Anything?" Lucy asked, peeking through.
I grabbed my notebook.
"It was the same as before," I wrote, "but this time I was looking at his mouth. I think he's saying 'help me'."
Lucy rest her head in her hand, in thought.
"Could you do it again? If you mouth anything he says, I could look at your mouth and see what he's saying."
I thought for a moment, then nodded my head. I reached for the skull once more, shutting my eyes. There was something different about the image. The youth was standing. He was looking straight at me. He mouthed something. Almost like a question. I repeated the gesture. I heard Lucy scribble something in my notebook. She must be writing it down. The green youth mouthed a question once more. It was longer than the first. I repeated it. Then the youth pointed above him. I mentally looked up. There was some sort of door above him. It wasn't locked, it was wide open. I look back at the youth. He was closer to me. I opened my eyes in panic, letting go of the skull. Lucy stared at me, surprised.
"What is it?" She asked. I waved her off and pointed to my notebook. My arm started to throbbed. Funny, it wasn't throbbing when I started.
"What I got from your mouth was 'Lucy? Is someone their? Can anyone hear me?'" She looked at me. "He sensed you."
I nodded, then took my notebook.
"I think he saw me as well." I wrote poorly with my left hand.
Her eyes lit up. "He's still here, just stuck. What else did you see?"
I told her about the weird looking door. My arm throbbed some more but I ignored it. This was much more important.
She sat there in thought. "It's getting dark. Let's do this tomorrow." Then she smiled at me. "Thank you for telling me this."
She walked out the door and shut it behind her. I put the skull on the night stand on the other side of the room. Then I crawled into bed, drifting off to sleep.
