It was a visit no one in the Noceda family expected. No it was not a relative they haven't seen in a long time. No, no old friend whom happened to be in the neighborhood and dropped in. Neither it was the tax collectors or CPS because it sure was a pain covering up for the rest of the Hexsquad (they trademarked it) that were staying with them.

But a woman working for the FBI and saying they know about the Boiling Isles, that was much more of a surprise. They had been used to people being willfully ignorant and the Nocedas seen as nothing special aside 'being eccentric' and didn't expect it. It made it a huge contrast when the woman was smiling softly on the couch, enjoying the cup of tea offered and munching on empanadas. Can't blame her for that, no one resists the Noceda family recipe empanadas.

"So, Mrs…er?" Camilla tried to get a ball rolling but she happened to forget the name of the 'guest'.

"Roxanne Dusquesne. Just Roxie when I'm off the clock, but in official capacity call me Agent D." the woman said as she sipped her tea. She smacked her lips, made a face as if she drank something bitter and proceeded to put way more sugar then most people did, in said tea.

Taking a good look at her, she was a tall, Amazonian woman. Beautiful, strong-looking. Muscular but not bulky, probably athletic. Red short hair that reaches her neck and spiked up at the ends. She appeared young at first sight but Luz and Camilla observed a few wrinkles around her eyes and a little grey at the roots of her hair. If not for those small details, they'd thought her to be younger, but in hindsight, she may look so long due to taking care of herself really well.

Roxie took the word again. "I may have been direct earlier, but there was no easy way to say it. And I'll have to say it again: We know about the little witch realm. And with 'we', I mean Section Zero of the FBI. The one that deals with the crazy stuff."

Luz and Camilla tensed up, as if petrified, not daring to speak. Vee's eyes darted around the room in the hopes of finding an escape. She didn't want to be locked up ever again. Roxie noticed the tension. "Don't bet tense, we don't want trouble or lock you up or anything. Unless you all committed any crimes we aren't aware off." She tried to soothe them.

Luz decides to not tell the woman whom took her in at the Boiling Isles was an outlaw, technically. 'I…don't think so?" Luz managed to stammer.

Roxie chuckled a bit. But she recomposed herself quickly and drank the rest of her overly sweet tea and put the cup down. "I am going to be direct again. We know to a degree what is beyond there. A community of witches, whom may have shaped the history of this town. I also know there was this big event going on a few months back, something big and dangerous, going in there but it was mostly contained to the other realm. Aside the fact a shapeshifter lives with you but she is behaving, and a creature that may have sucked the lifeforce out of local wildlife, but the damage is minimal. It could have been a lot worse because other events have spilled over in our realm and would have been much more difficult to cover."

Camilla looked thoughtful. "Wait, that article about the girl and possible magical alien frogs…" she remembered that article in a gossip magazine a few months back.

"I can neither confirm or deny it officially but you have come to your own conclusions which may or may not be right." Roxie said vaguely. But they knew better. "But anyhow, since you all prevented from whatever disaster it was from spilling over, you got a lot of brownie points with Section Zero."

"So, what will happen now?" Luz asked.

"What do you want to happen next?" Roxie asked.

"I don't want trouble. The people of the Boiling Isles…they have gone through so much already and we are still rebuilding. We don't want trouble. At least most of them, the good ones don't. They already had to deal with an evil Emperor and…" Luz started to rant. She stopped herself from giving too much details.

"We don't want to do any harm to them. The Boiling Isles are technically still a separate nation even if it not recognized yet and we do not have jurisdiction." Roxie assured her.

"So you don't want to lock them up or closely watch them? You don't have weapons to wipe them out?" Vee asked, still sounding a bit scared.

"No we don't. After an earlier incident where one of our agents had jumped the gun, we decided to approach these things in the future with more…tact and diplomacy." Roxie explained. "Though if I can be honest, we do have weapons, just in case. We still know little about the islands and probably not everyone will play nice. We are still a government agency tasked with protecting the populace and we can't do our tasks if we gamble things on a 'maybe'. But if what you say is true, we won't need them."

It didn't reassure Vee too much but none of the Nocedas could fault them because for someone whom didn't know about the Boiling Isles, it sounded scary and one would feel like being prepared. "We still don't know what will happen now." Camilla noted.

"For now, we will give them the space to start rebuilding. But over time…we want to keep a friendly relationship with the new realm. Believe us or not, Section Zero and the government as a whole do not want war. Like I said, it helps that the great disasters were mostly contained to the other realm. But over time, mingling will be inevitable and we need to enact diplomacy. That's where you come in." Roxie said.

"Us?" Luz asked as she pointed at herself.

"Yes, you are most familiar with these Boiling Isles. And closely involved…It's always you young ones that get involved." Roxie replied.

"Young ones? Wait, it's kids Luz's age whom get involved with the weird stuff?" Camilla asked worried.

"Yeah, oddly so. We don't know why, but it may be a combination of sheer dumb luck and the fact the only thing stronger then fear is curiosity, which young ones have an abundance of." Roxie explained.

"Did you get that from the movie with the Yetis?" Luz asked.

"What if so? Doesn't mean it's wrong." Roxie noted with a soft smile. It was hard to forget she was a government agent when she was being…quirky? "Anyhow, we're getting off-track. Yes, what comes next will involve you. Since you are closest to everything we would like to ask for you to act as…mediators or ambassadors to these…Boiling Isles."

"What would that entail?" Luz asked.

"Mostly same principle as diplomats for other countries. Maintain peace, bit of a cooperation, prevent problems from spilling over but able to get or provide aid in certain circumstances. Believe it, we think its much easier to be on good terms with other worlds rather then antagonize them." Roxie further explained.

"What will happen to me?" Vee asked.

"Well, since you haven't caused any trouble and these people have taken you in, we are willing to create records for you so that you can live a normal life. Same for the witch friends which have stayed over with you a while back. After all, there is still a cover to maintain and we don't want to drop a bomb on the populace, we want to do it gradually. That and it would be handier if any of them aid you in the future with any diplomatic duties." Roxie answered.

"Wait, while I appreciate the benefits, do we get a say in it?" Camilla asked.

"Actually mom, I was already thinking of something like this long before Miss Duquesne offered the idea." Luz said. Camilla looked at her surprised. "Yeah, I know there'd be a day the Boiling Isles would be discovered. I mean if I, a dorky clumsy kid could stumble upon it, someone else would and one day I may had to help establish peace. Though I didn't expect it to be this quickly. Besides, you see it in various media too, a new world is discovered, and depending on it they become allies or a war breaks out. Like in Azura and the Lost Kingdom and Azura and the Dark Elves."

"That makes sense, I guess. To be fair, Cosmic Frontier does deal with that a lot too…" Camilla said. She then slapped her hand in front of her mouth. She had become much more opener about her 'geek side' after reconnecting with Luz but she still didn't mean to blab out her…nerdiness like that.

Roxie chuckled, but it wasn't a mean but an amused chuckle. "Guess that is one way to look at it. Bloody good show, Cosmic Frontier." She said. The Nocedas looked a bit surprised at her. "What? I have a life outside of my work."

They just went with it. Luz then spoke up. "I'd want to help, but I also have school and I want to help my friends with the rebuilding…I wonder if I'll have time. I can make time if I would only sleep three hours and get by on buttloads of coffee and energy drink…"

"NO!" Camilla and Vee said.

"Last time you tried that you nearly lost your mind. Don't do that, mija!" Camille said.

"You were also in a really bad place, it didn't do you any favors." Vee added.

"Yeah, I'm going to say it before your daughter goes on a self-destructive path. We of course don't want her to turn her…by lack of a better term 'civilian life', upside down. We still got to work out the details. But I want to keep that for a follow up. This first… 'meeting' was to establish some things." Roxie explained. "We hope in the next few meetings would help and if you perhaps can involve a few of your witch friends or acquaintances. So we can reach a compromise."

"Well, it would give us time to get anything in order." Camilla noted.

"How about I give you a few weeks, perhaps a month?" Roxie suggested.

"That'd be nice." Luz said.

"Excellent. Now, I'm going to give you my card, and though I know you are honest folk, the number will be lost if anyone but you try to call us." She said as she handed the card over. "Chances are though we may call you before you call us."

Camilla took the card and looked at it. "Well…thanks for giving us the heads up and the time for us to think about…all this."

"You're welcome. And I hope we are able to work well in the future." Roxie said. "Before I go, I got one more question…" she said as the Nocedas listened real closely. "Can I have some of those empanadas to go? They really slap."

"Why would you slap the empanadas?" Vee asked.

"I think she means she likes them." Luz noted.

"Well, it's true. No one resists the Noceda family recipe." Vee said with a smile.

"I'll bag a few for you." Camilla said.

After Roxie left the household after a friendly goodbye, the Nocedas huddled together a bit. "You think we should feel safe? I mean she seems amicable and while I want to trust her, I've seen enough series with gung ho and trigger happy governments…" Luz said.

"Not to mention the government in the Boiling Islands created me and tried to use me as a slave or magical attack dog." Vee said. Her human guise slipped a bit, the white freckles and basilisk ears showing.

"She did have the courtesy to talk with us directly and be honest and open with us. At least I hope she was genuinely open and honest." Camilla said. "Though realistically we would have run into the government sooner or later."

"I guess there is no other way to go along with it for now. If it really is about peace and friendship with the Boiling Isles…I want to help that go along. I would do anything to protect my home…both of them." Luz said. "This is just another project I'll have to tackle."

"I understand, mija. And for your sake, and for the sake of your friends, I want this to work too." Camilla said. "I'm still confiscating anything with caffeine to be sure."

"That's fair." Luz noted. "How about you, Vee?"

"I would be glad to be able to stay here legally. But there is a bit of the past…trauma and I'm still on edge. Though I don't want to give up my new family." Vee said.

"We'll make sure you'll never have to give up on any of us." Luz noted.

"What if things with the government go south?" Vee asked. "What if we become hunted?"

"Then let them hunt us." Camilla said. "You are my daughter too, and for my daughters, I would go through hell and back. I already did that once, in a way." Camilla said.

"We'll just have to hope it doesn't come to that. Stay positive…But also realistic." Luz noted. She has learned not all her problems can be solved by staying positive. Though it at times has helped. "I'll have to talk to my friends about it, though. Gus would be kind of excited about it, I think."

"Why not have them over for dinner, has been a while since we all got together since…you know." Camilla said.

"I think they'd love that. Better make enough empanadas." Luz said.

"I guess everything went well, Agent D?"

"Yes, Agent A. Like we believed, it went rather smoothly. They are open for the idea of diplomacy. Would be one less thing to worry about."

"It would not erase the worry, just lessen it. We have to remain realistic, Agent D." Agent A said to his fellow agent. "What can you say about the Nocedas?"

"They are good people, whom just got dragged into the whole interdimensional witch archipelago thing. They're just a bunch of adorable geeky dorks." Roxie explained.

"I suspected as much. That's the reason I sent you to talk to them." Agent A said.

"Me, a geeky dork? I'll let you know that I'm not a geeky dork. I'm a 'media connoisseur' and 'endearingly eccentric'." Roxie said with a cheeky grin. "Anyhow, how are the other agents doing?"

"Agent X says things are running smooth in Los Angeles after…the incident with the frogs. Agent W is currently investigating Gravity Falls for the aftermath of what is rumored to be 'Weirdmageddon' and Agent G is dispatched to Brighton to investigate these ghost stories." Agent A explained. "As for Agent Z…"

"No news about him?" Roxie and Agent A both looked less comfortable.

"Still missing. I fear that the rumors of him having gone rogue seems to hold more truth each day. Which would be worrisome. Given Z's past…extreme views and methods." Agent A said.

"Should we warn the Nocedas?" Roxie asked.

"Not yet. We still don't know for sure. And if it is so, hope we can deal with it before it becomes their problems, they already got enough to worry about." Agent A said. "Section Zero cannot allow itself to be compromised. You try to keep close to the Nocedas in the meantime. Since you are working with them in the future, you best watch over them while you're at it."

"I understand. I will." Roxie said. "Anything else, A?"

"No, that's it for now." Agent A said. "I wish things would be easier…but the truth of hidden magic and supernatural would not be kept secret forever. But the higher ups wish it would be brought to the public more…gently. With a rogue element, they fear we would lose that chance. The world may not be ready fast enough."

Didn't intend for this next snippet to take this long, hope you enjoy.

Also took longer because Owl House is a much more high quality show then most of the other stuff I write for, so I'm much more nervous about nailing it.

I grew a bit tired of the evil governement cliche.

Besides, with Luz and Vee traveling between realms eventually the government would be involved in investigating, and it would be best for them and the Hexsquad to have an ally like that. Besides diplomacy between human and demon realms is something that should have been attempted sooner or later.

I made a few refs to Amphibia, though I haven't watched anything but a few season one episodes and I should get caught up, but it would be good to do some refs and hence I did a bit of research. I could use Agent X but he is not the only agent of the FBI and probably is staying in LA to overlook the Boonchuy family. So I created another agent. I also made her more then a generic agent and try to give her a personality and sure she may in the future fill different niches.

I also included an agent whom would be...more on the same wavelenght as the Nocedas to make it easier for her to work with. Hence I made my new original character Roxie a bit dorkish herself though it is a bit downplayed for now. Because of the serious situation the Nocedas also toned down their own dorkishness...or try to, for the duration of the visit.
