Nearly three weeks later...
On the night of the twentieth day, Inuyasha and Scott packed clothes and various items for their month-long honeymoon. They double-checked their belongings, ensuring they hadn't forgotten anything, before nodding in agreement.
"Please load the luggage into the back of the carriage," Scott instructed. Within minutes, servants bustled in and out of the room, transporting their belongings to the carriage. An hour later, everything was securely stowed.
The servants then offered a bow and wished the couple a good night. Scott and Inuyasha returned to their bedroom, disrobed, and cuddled beneath the covers. Within twenty minutes, they both drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Come morning, they woke up, exchanged smiles, and stretched. They left the bed and made their way to the bathroom, a recent addition during the weeks leading up to the wedding. Once inside, they shared a quick, warm shower.
Ten minutes later, they emerged from the bathroom, dried off, and dressed. They descended to the dining hall and saw that breakfast was already laid out. Although they initially scoffed at the meat offerings, they acknowledged that the trip to Tokyo would span more than a quarter of the day.
To sustain themselves, they decided to consume ample protein. After thirty minutes, they felt satiated.
They then headed to the cave to inform the pack of their departure and month-long absence. The pack wished them a wonderful trip and safety on their journey. Twenty minutes after this farewell, the couple approached the carriage and settled inside. Half an hour later, they embarked on their journey to Tokyo, Japan.
Ten minutes into the trip, both felt a growing thirst and discomfort from the heat. They asked Chris, the driver, to halt near a water source. In twenty minutes, the carriage stopped.
Chris opened the door and pointed to the right, saying, "I noticed a sign earlier that mentioned a creek about a quarter-mile from here."
Acknowledging him, Scott and Inuyasha reached into the carriage to retrieve towels and water bottles.
"We'll return in two hours," Inuyasha informed.
Chris nodded in understanding.
Scott and Inuyasha strolled down the path and, after ten minutes, came upon the creek. They disrobed and sat in the water to cool off. An hour later, they rose, dried themselves, and dressed. They stopped at a nearby rest stop to hydrate, use the restroom, and refill their water bottles. After 30 minutes, they made their way back.
Ten minutes later, they reached the carriage, boarded, and resumed their journey. An hour into the ride, the carriage halted. Peeking out, Inuyasha discerned they had arrived at the airport and informed Scott. Shortly thereafter, Chris opened the carriage door and assisted them in transferring their luggage to the private jet.
Within ten minutes, their belongings were stowed in the jet's cargo hold. After Chris wished them well, he departed. They watched him leave for a moment before boarding the aircraft. The flight attendant greeted them aboard the SS King's airline as they settled into a lounge couch and embraced.
Shortly after, an announcement informed them of the impending departure. They secured themselves with a long seat belt stretched across the couch. As the jet took to the skies, both felt nauseated, unfamiliar with the sensations of flying. Scott quickly handed Inuyasha a sickness bag when he saw his husband's discomfort.
Twelve hours passed before another announcement updated them about their imminent landing, alerting them of an approaching storm. An hour later, the plane touched down. Exiting the aircraft, they observed their luggage being transferred to a carriage. Once everything was loaded, they embarked on the road journey.
Scott promptly dozed off in Inuyasha's arms. As the carriage trundled along, Inuyasha reflected on the changes in his homeland over the past five centuries. He smiled, realizing that irrespective of the changes, they'd cherish their time together.
Thirty minutes later, the carriage came to a stop. Realizing they'd arrived at their destination, Inuyasha woke Scott, who responded with a tired groan.
Exiting the carriage, they collected their luggage as the valet departed with a bow. As they approached the front door of the cottage, a noise from within caught their attention. Without hesitation, Inuyasha kicked the door open.
To his astonishment, the intruder was his elder brother, Sesshomaru — someone he believed to be dead. Overwhelmed, Inuyasha dropped his luggage and embraced his brother.
Sesshomaru, taken aback by the hug from a seemingly unknown man, pulled away and took a closer look. To him, Inuyasha appeared as a ghost — a person he'd witnessed die as a child.
"Sesshomaru, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," Inuyasha remarked.
Sesshomaru, noticing Inuyasha's half-demon scent, felt disoriented. The last time he'd seen Inuyasha was during their escape from the annihilation of their kind, when Inuyasha was just a young boy.
"Is that really you, Inuyasha?" he asked, disbelief evident in his voice.
Inuyasha simply nodded in affirmation
"It really is you, brother. I know I look very different from the last time you saw me, but it's truly me," Inuyasha affirmed. Scott's cough diverted their attention. Only then did Sesshomaru notice the werewolf's presence, specifically, an alpha werewolf.
Instinctively, memories flooding back, Sesshomaru lunged to attack Scott, holding the werewolves responsible for the near-destruction of his kind. Inuyasha swiftly stepped in front of Scott, acting as a barrier. Sesshomaru growled, demanding Inuyasha step aside, but Inuyasha remained resolute.
"Do you realize the harm his kind inflicted upon ours?" Sesshomaru challenged.
"I do. But Scott is different. He's not like the werewolves who decimated our kind," Inuyasha defended.
Sesshomaru scoffed, "All werewolves are the same."
Shaking his head, Inuyasha countered, "That's not true. It was a pack of werewolves that saved me when hunters gravely injured me at fifteen. They sheltered me during my 11-year escape after we parted ways. Werewolves raised me as one of their own."
Stunned by Inuyasha's revelations, Sesshomaru still struggled with trust, his memories of werewolves colored by the loss of their parents. But their conversation was interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Sesshomaru turned to see his adoptive son, Shippou, disturbed from his sleep.
"Daddy, what's all the commotion? I was hoping to sleep in for once," Shippou groggily remarked.
Spotting Shippou, Inuyasha felt a jolt of recognition. "That's the same Shippou I grew up with. But how? I witnessed his home's destruction."
Shippou, noticing strangers, inquired, "Who are they?"
Pointing to Inuyasha, Sesshomaru explained, "That's my brother and your childhood friend."
Shippou looked between the two, skeptical. "That's impossible. He's human."
Sesshomaru then realized that Inuyasha had transformed into his human form, which Shippou had never witnessed. He reassured, "You've just never seen him like this. Approach him, and discern his scent. You'll recognize him."
Tentatively, Shippou did as instructed. Upon identifying the familiar scent, his eyes widened in shock as he met Inuyasha's gaze.
"Is that really you, Inuyasha?" Shippou questioned.
Inuyasha nods, opening his arms invitingly, "Come here, my old friend."
Overcome with emotion, Shippou rushed into Inuyasha's embrace, tears streaming down his face. After a heartfelt twenty-minute embrace, they pulled apart. As Shippou was about to lead Inuyasha to his old room, he noticed Scott, the werewolf, standing behind them.
Instinctively, Shippou pulled Inuyasha protectively behind him, assuming a defensive stance.
Placing a calming hand on Shippou's shoulder, Inuyasha said, "It's okay; he won't harm you."
Shippou stared incredulously at Inuyasha, "Are you serious? This creature is responsible for the demise of our kind, including our parents! How can you trust him?"
Inuyasha looked taken aback by Shippou's reaction. "Let me explain," he began.
"You've got five minutes before I take action," Shippou threatened.
After a moment's contemplation, Inuyasha said, "For starters, he's my husband and mate."
"You married a wolf and claimed him as your mate?" Sesshomaru growled, voicing his disapproval.
"Yes, he's my husband, but we haven't mated yet," Inuyasha clarified.
Sesshomaru, puzzled, asked, "What do you mean, 'not yet'?"
"That's not the primary concern right now," Inuyasha hastily continued. "Three minutes remain."
Taking a deep breath, he went on, "Scott is my husband and mate. I trust him with my life and love him deeply. Although our first encounter was rocky, as days passed, our bond strengthened. Soon enough, we found ourselves deeply in love."
Inuyasha's voice softened, "During an intimate moment, Scott revealed his vulnerabilities to me, setting me free from servitude. However, that very night, a chimera named Theo, driven by jealousy and ignorance, sought to end Scott's life. Without a second thought, I risked my life for Scott's, realizing I loved him."
"A chimera?" Shippou interrupted, disbelief evident in his voice. "They went extinct three millennia ago."
"It might've been a dormant gene that manifested in Theo," Inuyasha suggested. "A lot seems to have changed during my absence."
Recalling something, Shippou said, "Do you remember that old well in the forest near Lady Kaede's residence?"
Inuyasha frowned, "Yes, what about it?"
As I mentioned earlier, I was severely injured by hunters. In my desperate attempt to escape, I stumbled upon the well, and on a whim, jumped in to hide. A blinding light surrounded me, and I lost consciousness.
When I awoke, I was still in the well, but the hunters were nowhere in sight. Emerging from the well, I found myself in an unfamiliar forest.
Despite thoroughly searching my surroundings for signs of life, I found none. However, I encountered a benevolent pack of werewolves who nurtured me and welcomed me into their fold. I stayed with them until my 25th birthday.
"What transpired on your 25th birthday?" Shippou inquired.
"Well, for one, I graduated from college. Then, I secured a job and eventually built my own home," Inuyasha responded.
"So, you're claiming you escaped hunters, jumped into a well, and landed in the future? That sounds far-fetched," Sesshomaru said, skepticism evident in his voice.
"Not entirely," Shippou replied thoughtfully. "There's a local legend about that well. My father once told me that it's said to transport anyone in grave danger to a safer time in the future."
Sesshomaru's eyes widened in astonishment upon hearing this.
Tears formed in the eyes of both Shippou and Sesshomaru as they reflected on Inuyasha's trials and tribulations. Moved by emotion, they approached Inuyasha, embracing him. As they pulled away, they fixed Scott with stern glances.
"If you ever—and I mean ever—harm Inuyasha, we'll make you suffer in ways you can't imagine," they warned.
Scott nodded solemnly. "You have my word."
Both Shippou and Sesshomaru then embraced Scott, drawing him into their family fold. "Welcome to the family," they said in unison. As they pulled away, Sesshomaru headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
"Scott, you do consume meat, correct?" he called out.
"Yes, but I often prefer it raw," Scott responded.
Inuyasha received a playful elbow from Shippou, "We like him."
Sesshomaru returned to his culinary tasks. About thirty minutes later, dinner was ready, and they gathered at the table.
"So, little brother, what brings you here?" Sesshomaru inquired.
Inuyasha spat out the water he was sipping, while Scott choked on his food. Realizing the probable reason, Sesshomaru smirked, "You chose your human mother's home for your honeymoon and to mate?"
The visible blush on Inuyasha and Scott's faces confirmed Sesshomaru's suspicion. "Although I doubt your mother would appreciate you using her home for such purposes. However, technically it's your property, so you're free to do as you please."
"How long do you plan to stay?" Shippou chimed in.
"We'll be here for a month before returning to the castle," Inuyasha revealed, causing Shippou and Sesshomaru's eyes to go wide in astonishment.
"You're a PRINCE?" they exclaimed together.
They turned to Inuyasha.
"Well, actually, he became a king once we married."
"So, that made you the queen?" Sesshomaru teased.
Breaking into laughter, Sesshomaru couldn't contain himself.
Inuyasha clarified, "Actually, the correct term then is 'mate king'. I experienced my first heat the previous year and embraced my heritage."
Both Shippo and Sesshomaru looked at him, shock evident in their eyes.
Inuyasha nodded. "I am a male omega submissive."
"That can't be," Sesshomaru interjected. "They were believed to die off centuries ago."
Shippou corrected him, "That wasn't entirely true. I am one, and so was my father."
Changing the topic, he continued, "Now you understood why we came here. I didn't expect to find either of you here, let alone alive. No offense."
Sesshomaru waved him off. "None taken."
Seeing the couple, Shippo suggested, "Dad, I thought it would be best if we gave the lovebirds some space."
He gestured to Shippo, "Help bring their luggage to Inuyasha's old room."
Shippo nodded in agreement.
Scott and Inuyasha resumed eating. After twenty minutes, they both finished and headed up to their room for the next couple of weeks. They both stripped down and got into bed to cuddle. As they were about to fall asleep, Scott noticed that Inuyasha looked anxious about something, but he shrugged it off. Then, they fell asleep.
