After sitting down, Sango handed menus to the four of them. "Anything particular for you boys to drink?"
"Yes, hot tea for all of us," Derek replied politely, glancing at the other two for confirmation. They nodded in agreement.
"Perfect! And how about some appetizers?"
"Yes, one of each appetizer with extra sauces," Derek ordered.
"Very well. I'll be right back," Sango said, making her way to the kitchen.
As they waited, Stiles, looking at Inuyasha and Scott with curiosity, asked, "What brings you two to Tokyo?"
"We're here on our honeymoon and decided to visit Inuyasha's hometown," Scott replied with a smile.
"That's sweet," Stiles remarked. "What do you think so far?"
Inuyasha sighed. "It's changed a lot, though some places, like this tavern, still retain their old charm. And the Bone Eater's Forest remains unchanged."
Derek raised an eyebrow in intrigue. "What do you mean it's unchanged? It's been the same for the 16 years I've lived here."
Inuyasha glanced at Scott before speaking. "It's going to sound unbelievable, but I'm not from this era. I come from the feudal era."
Derek's and Stiles' eyes widened in surprise. "You're joking, right?" Derek questioned, trying to gauge the sincerity in Inuyasha's eyes.
"No, I'm serious," Inuyasha confirmed. "I was magically transported from the year 1523 to this era when my life was in danger."
The conversation was interrupted as Sango returned with a tray full of appetizers and pots of hot tea. "Sorry for the wait, one of our cooks had to leave early," she explained.
Derek, still processing Inuyasha's revelation, replied, "No problem, Sango. We were just getting to know each other better."
As Sango walked away, Derek continued, "So you're really a half-demon from the 1500s?"
Inuyasha nodded, feeling slightly vulnerable from revealing his truth.
"How are you finding the modern world, then?" Stiles asked, genuinely curious.
Inuyasha thought for a moment. "It's overwhelming at times, but I'm learning to navigate it."
Stiles and Derek exchanged glances. It was evident that today's brunch was going to be filled with tales from a world they had only read about in history books.
Taking a deep breath, Inuyasha began, "When I unexpectedly found myself in this era, wounded and disoriented, I was fortunate to be taken in by a kind werewolf pack. They treated me like family, providing shelter and guidance."
"After completing my education, I built a life for myself. However, tranquility was short-lived. A Chimera named Theo, became fixated on me. His advances grew increasingly aggressive until one fateful evening, he confronted me at my home, revealing the darkest parts of his nature."
Trying to contain his emotions, he continued, "I escaped and, while wandering the woods during a storm, chanced upon a castle. Inside was Scott, its reclusive master. Though initially wary, he offered me shelter in return for my service."
Inuyasha's eyes softened, "Over time, walls between us crumbled. We began to trust, understand, and eventually, love each other. Scott even held a ball in my honor, making clear his feelings."
He sighed, "Yet shadows from my past caught up. Theo discovered my refuge and driven by jealousy, came to the castle, causing a confrontation that almost claimed Scott's life."
Inuyasha's voice wavered, "In those heart-wrenching moments, as Scott lay injured, I confessed my feelings. Through what felt like a miracle, he revived. And not long after, we wed. Now, we're here, celebrating our honeymoon."
"Damn, that's a heavy tale. So, when you mentioned 'beast', you're implying Scott was under a curse, right?" Stiles inquired, a blend of sympathy and curiosity in his eyes.
Scott sighed, "Yes, Stiles. To simplify, my childhood was challenging. Raised under my father's strict regime, there was little room for joy. It was mostly about studies and responsibilities. Tragedy struck early – I lost my mother and brother when I was just a child. Later, my father also passed."
His gaze darkened as he continued, "That series of events made me cold-hearted. Then, one fateful Christmas eve when I was eleven, an elderly woman sought refuge in our castle. In return for shelter, with nothing to give after but seeing her worn-out appearance, I dismissed her."
Scott's voice deepened, "She warned me not to be deceived by appearances, and I shunned her again. Angered by my rudeness, she turned me into a beast and cast a spell on the castle and its inhabitants."
His gaze shifted to Inuyasha, "She left with a warning and a single enchanted rose. If I could learn to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal fell on my twenty-sixth birthday, the spell would be broken. Otherwise, I'd remain a beast forever."
Scott's hands reached for Inuyasha's, "By destiny's design, Inuyasha found me. His love and understanding lifted the curse."
Stiles and Derek looked profoundly moved. Eyes glistening, Derek commented, "Both of you faced immense struggles, but it seems fate had a plan to bring you two together."
Scott smiled, drawing Inuyasha closer, "Every day, I'm grateful for the path that led us to each other."
Inuyasha blushed at the affectionate gesture, causing the others to smile.
As the conversation flowed, the appetizers and tea had finished. Sango, noticing the empty plates, approached, "Gentlemen, are we ready for the main course? Or will that be all for today?"
"We'll take our usual entrees, Sango," Derek responded with a nod, signaling for the next course.
"Inuyasha and I would like the supersized rare steak platter," Scott began, ensuring he had the server's attention. "It comes with mashed and baked potatoes, right? We'd also like steamed and sautéed vegetables. Oh, and could we have extra butter, gravy, and sour cream on the side, please?"
Sango, jotting down the order, nodded with a warm smile. "Of course."
Derek and Stiles exchanged surprised glances, then grinned playfully. "You two have quite the appetite! We like that," Derek commented, winking.
Stiles chimed in, chuckling, "Seems we have more in common than we thought."
Inuyasha and Scott exchanged mischievous smiles. "Likewise," they said in unison, causing another round of laughter at the table.
Sango, poised with her pen, sought to finalize the order. "So that's four supersized steak platters with the works. Anything to drink?"
Stiles raised his hand slightly, "Two pitchers of Bud for Derek and me."
Scott, not to be outdone, added, "And for Inuyasha and me, two pitchers of raspberry tea, please."
Sango nodded, her pen dancing on her notepad. "Got it. I'll be right back with your drinks." She gathered the empty appetizer baskets and made her way to the kitchen.
