They held each other, Scott gently massaging Inuyasha's round belly as he nuzzled at the mating mark on his mate's neck. Inuyasha had thrown his head back in pleasure, enjoying the attention from his alpha. When Scott gently bit down on the mark, Inuyasha moaned loudly like a bitch in heat as an orgasm radiated through his body.
Inuyasha laughed and nuzzled back at Scott when his pleasure abated. Scott stands first, lifting Inuyasha up in his strong arms, he carries his mate from the bath. Placing him down to wrap him in a large soft towel, then grabs another to dry his long hair. He takes a moment to dry himself before picking Inuyasha back up to carry him to the bed.
They shared a tender moment, kissing and cuddling, before deciding to get dressed and make their way to the garden. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the sight of the twins.
"Hey, boys! How was the date?" Scott inquired.
"It was incredible," the twins responded enthusiastically. "Your nephew is quite the character–and hilarious to boot."
"That's great to hear," Scott replied with a smile. "Inuyasha and I planned to go for a run before lunch. Would you two like to join us?"
"We'd be delighted. We hope we won't be in the way," the twins said, looking slightly hesitant.
"Of course not," Scott reassured.
With that, the four of them shed their clothes, transforming into their primal forms, and ventured on a run that lasted until lunchtime. Four hours later, they returned to the gardens and reverted to their humanoid forms.
Unfazed by their nudity, the group made a beeline for the lake, diving in for a refreshing swim. An hour and a half later, they emerged, laying on the grass to soak up the sun and dry off.
After about thirty minutes, they dressed and started to make their way back to the castle. However, upon entering, they encountered Sesshomaru, who seemed somewhat agitated.
"There you are, brother!" Sesshomaru exclaimed. "I've been searching for you all morning. Where have you been?"
Scott began recounting their morning's activities, "After leaving you in the dining room, Inuyasha and I went back to our room for a bath. As we were heading to the gardens, we bumped into the twins and invited them for a run. After, we decided to swim for a while, followed by a bit of sunbathing."
Sesshomaru responded, slightly exasperated, "That much I gathered. I was referring to the significance of today."
Inuyasha looked puzzled, "It's the night of the new moon, but other than that, I'm not seeing the big deal."
Sesshomaru's eyes widened, "It's not just the night of the new moon. It's your 30th birthday, a monumental milestone for demons as it's when their true power is unveiled."
Inuyasha's eyes went wide with realization, "SHIT! I totally forgot about that and its importance."
Sesshomaru's silver hair shimmered subtly under the soft sunlight as he spoke, "So, I've been asked to keep you occupied until the party is ready. How about some fishing? Just the two of us, a chance for brothers to reconnect."
Inuyasha's golden eyes darted across the garden, landing briefly on a pair of birds playfully chasing each other. He sighed, "Honestly, I'm pretty beat. I had this plan of catching a nap after a bite to eat."
Scott, taking in their interaction, gave Inuyasha a light tap on the back of his head. His tone was a mix of amusement and admonishment. "Really, Inuyasha? That's how you respond to Sesshomaru's heartfelt invitation?"
Rubbing the back of his head, where Scott's hand had made contact, Inuyasha replied with mock irritation, "Alright, alright! Yes, I'd love to spend time with you, Sesshomaru. But Scott, you're going to owe me for this."
Scott chuckled, the sound echoing slightly in the vast garden. "Deal! Just make sure you're on your best behavior with your brother."
Inuyasha smirked, his fangs peeking out just slightly, "Duly noted."
As the brothers ventured towards the storage shed to fetch fishing supplies, the subtle scents of flowers and freshly turned soil filled the air. Scott, meanwhile, swiftly returned carrying a picnic basket laden with delicious-smelling breakfast leftovers and a comfortable blanket, its deep blue fabric contrasting with the green of the grass.
After thanking Scott and sharing a brief, playful exchange marked by a blush-inducing kiss, the brothers set off towards the lake. The water sparkled invitingly, reflecting the clear blue sky.
Laying out their spread, they shared a moment of casual chatter and laughter. Post their light snack, the rhythmic sound of water lapping at the shore accompanied them as they baited their hooks with leftover scraps. As minutes turned into hours, the calm environment of the lake and their relaxed fishing expedition yielded a generous catch.
Post their successful fishing adventure, they stowed away their gear. The sun was now at its zenith, casting shadows that danced on the ground. Sesshomaru, his face illuminated by the golden light, paused as they approached the castle gates and presented a wrapped gift to Inuyasha.
With a mix of curiosity and surprise, Inuyasha queried, "What's this?"
Sesshomaru's eyes held a hint of mischief as he replied, "Open it and see."
Inuyasha delicately opened the box, his eyebrows raising in surprise at the contents within. Inside was an outfit, bearing a remarkable resemblance to Sesshomaru's, but also artfully blending elements from their father's and his own wardrobe. This was more than just clothing; it was a symbol of the future lord of the demons.
"I thought you'd assume the mantle of lordship," Inuyasha said, his voice reflecting his confusion.
Sesshomaru's gaze held firm as he replied, "I did intend to. However, given that I neither foresee marriage nor an heir in my immediate future, you, being married, mated, and with a child on the way, are the logical successor."
Raising an eyebrow, Inuyasha asked, "How did you know I'm mated?"
Sesshomaru smirked, "I noticed Scott's mating mark on you this morning."
Overwhelmed by emotion, Inuyasha momentarily lost his composure, tackling Sesshomaru to the ground in an enthusiastic embrace.
"Hey, be careful!" Sesshomaru exclaimed, half laughing. "Especially considering your condition."
Rolling his eyes, Inuyasha responded, "I'm not that far along, and besides, I'm quite resilient. That said, we should head inside. The sky's darkening rapidly, and given it's the night of the new moon, I don't want to risk being outside. Especially if the wrong person discovers my secret."
Scott's voice, smooth yet commanding, interrupted, "That won't happen on my watch."
Both brothers turned, startled by Scott's silent approach.
"Asshole, give a guy some warning next time," Inuyasha muttered, feigning annoyance.
Scott chuckled heartily, walking towards Inuyasha and effortlessly lifting him in a bridal carry. "Everyone's waiting, love. Let's head inside." Turning to Sesshomaru, he added, "And you, no more bonding trips on the night of the new moon. It was cutting it a bit close."
With those words, Scott headed towards the castle, Sesshomaru trailing close behind. Upon reaching the grand ballroom doors and pushing them open, they were met with enveloping darkness.
The room was filled with the warmth of familiar faces - the pack, servants, and Shippou.
"SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY INUYASHA!" they all chorused.
Inuyasha looked genuinely taken aback. "You guys... thank you. You really shouldn't have."
"Anything for our liege and lord," they all echoed in response.
Sesshomaru, not wanting the fish to go to waste, swiftly moved to the buffet table, setting them amongst the other dishes. Scott gently placed Inuyasha down, and the birthday boy made his rounds, hugging everyone gratefully. Soon after, Scott approached with a birthday cake, candles dancing with flames.
"Make a wish, love," he whispered.
Inuyasha looked around, a genuine smile on his face. "I don't need to wish for anything. I have everything I need right here."
"Blow out the candles, brother," Sesshomaru chided, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
With a chuckle, Inuyasha blew out the candles, causing a cheer to erupt around the room. Scott set the cake back on the table and then meticulously filled a plate with a variety of buffet items. Hand in hand, he led Inuyasha to the balcony. There, under the soft light of the moon, they sat on a marble bench, sharing and savoring every bite.
However, their intimate moment was cut short when they were beckoned back inside. It was time for desserts and gifts.
Koga presented Inuyasha with a small box. Inside was a choker, intricately made of wolf fangs and claws, a memory of the pack members they'd lost.
From Shippou was a slightly larger box containing a beautiful hand-drawn portrait of the entire group.
Chris gave a long, thin box which revealed a bow and quiver set, while Peter's similarly shaped gift turned out to be a standard fishing rod alongside a fly-fishing rod.
Victoria's gift was heartwarming: a collection of Liam's clothes from his childhood. Allison's small box held a detailed book on the history of demons and half-demons. Liam's gift, although in a tiny box, was thoughtful - a necklace and bracelet crafted from shells and noodles.
Ginta's gift was practical: a set of four throwing spears. And Hakkaku's similarly shaped box revealed finely hand-crafted arrows. Each gift, unique in its own way, spoke volumes of the bond Inuyasha shared with each of them.
Hojo extended a medium-sized box to Inuyasha. Upon opening it, Inuyasha found a beautifully woven basket and a hand-knitted blanket made of soft wolf fur.
Ethan presented several larger boxes. Curious, Inuyasha uncovered a hunting rifle, additional arrows, and an array of fishing tackle.
Scott approached with a massive box. The anticipation in the room was palpable. As the lid came off, a stunning wooden carving was revealed, depicting Inuyasha and Scott in their primal forms.
Inuyasha's eyes shimmered with gratitude. "Thank you, everyone, for these wonderful gifts." The room then transitioned to dessert, a sweet end to a heartwarming evening.
As the evening continued, Scott noticed Inuyasha's eyelids drooping. Before long, Inuyasha had drifted into sleep. Rising gently, Scott lifted Inuyasha in his arms, whispering thanks to everyone for the party and gifts. He then made his way to their room, noting the time – 7:30pm – and remembered the significance of the approaching new moon.
After settling Inuyasha into bed, Scott returned to the ballroom. "Shouldn't you be resting?" Sesshomaru inquired, a hint of concern in his voice.
"I wanted to help with the clean-up," Scott replied, moving to assist.
With the room restored an hour and a half later, everyone pitched in to place the gifts outside the royal bedroom. Scott offered his gratitude once more and bid them all goodnight. He then quietly transported the presents into the room, careful not to disturb the now black-haired Inuyasha, signifying the onset of the new moon.
Scott undressed and slid under the covers, wrapping his arms around Inuyasha. Pulling him close, he whispered, "Sweet dreams, my mate. Happy birthday. I love you so much."
