Everything was going smoothly, and Heather barely managed to hold back from screaming victoriously at the top of her lungs. The whole attack, which she had begun to question, turned out even better than anyone could have expected, and she doubted anything could change that.
With Windshear, they had destroyed two of the ships already, while, from what she could see, the rest of the team had taken out six more, leaving them only seven of the enemy's ship forces. Even so that she would have loved to stay longer in the air and watch each of these decks burn, the plan was different.
Now, Fishlegs was supposed to cover her and Snotlout Toothless, while the twins were distracting the foe, so the two of them, as they were fastest from them, could sneak onto Dagur's ship and kill the bastard, confusing his leaderless men, making the final job simple as never.
Achieving this, Heather jumped from her dragonness, commanding her to help the others, while Heather took care of the crowded deck of roaring Vikings. After defeating three of them, Heather's eyes widened at the sight of the Night Fury, who with one swing of its tail threw off the ship five more, emptying the area.
Afterward, Toothless gazed at her, narrowing his eyes in confusion. Just then, Heather grunted and led them to the lower deck, where Toothless could change without being seen by anyone but Heather, who titled her head at him, confounded.
"Why did you change?"
"You want to make it quiet?" Toothless inquired and Heather nodded, frowning. "I assure you it's much easier to sneak without a heavy tail," he justified, and straightened, raking his fingers through his hair. "Are you sure that you don't want me to help the others?"
"Dagur is a maniac, but he isn't weak. It will be easier to conquer him with two of us," Heather responded and Toothless nodded convinced before they rushed through the deck's corridors.
There, they had a chance to meet a few of Dagur's soldiers, but without much trouble, they were able to knock them out. Eventually, as it seemed that the entire boat was clear, Heather once again became anxious with an uncomfortable silence that resulted from Toothless's clouded expression and she cleared her throat loudly, before starting.
"I would like to say that since you have helped me so much, and now, you are in a rather poor situation with Hiccup, I propose to-,"
"Oh no, Heather," Toothless hissed and halted himself, gnashing his teeth and scratching his neck. "Look, I know what you're thinking, but even so, just because I and Hiccup argued, I still love her so-,"
"No, Gods, no!" Heather interjected, waving her hands, objectively. "You have a high opinion of yourself, and it's not what I meant. I'm not interested in that. What I meant was that I could help you two make up, after all of this."
"R-Right, sure," Toothless mumbled, looking away, embarrassed. "That - that would be helpful. Thank you."
After that, the both of them remained silent, until they were met with a door, at which sight Heather straightened, furrowed her brows, and concentrated. Nodding at Toothless, the man returned with the same, tight grip on the two, bearded axes in his hands, while Heather inhaled loudly, and then, rammed through the door rapidly.
Consequently, in front of them, at the other side of the room, they could've glimpsed Dagur, who sighed, standing to them by the back. "Heather, Heather, which time is it now, sixth?" he pointed out, and he blinked at them shocked, once he turned in their direction. "Look at ya! Ya got yerself a friend!" he laughed cracking his neck, getting himself in a battle position, with the sword in his hand. "Let's make it quick."
As he said, happened, and within a short moment, he was being tied to the chair by Toothless, while Heather gaped at him, grinning and raising her chin, proudly. "You were right. It was quick," she sniggered, resting her axe on Dagur's neck. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this moment."
"If so, then what are you waiting for, and what is this for?" Toothless snarled, tensing the ropes suddenly, at which Dagur winced, gritting his teeth.
"Because I want to remember that moment," Heather barked, moving slightly away from Dagur, while Toothless, who finished his work, backed up behind her, "just as well as I want him to remember it for the rest of his short life," she added, leaning over him. "I want him to know that he will die as a coward, killed by the woman's hand, a murderer of innocent people, the worst chief in the history of his island, and a man regretting throwing down with my family."
"Well, I must say that it was a beautiful speech, however, ya are wron' about one," Dagur stated, frowning his brows, instantly. "I don't regret anythin'; I don't regret killin' yer family, and if it was possible, I would have repeated that massacre, before yer very eyes," he whispered, panting raged. "The truth is, ye're makin' me rather a big favor, Heather, so stop considerin' it, and just kill me," He added, before thrashing around, bellowing. "Kill me, Heather! Kill me, because I have done everythin' I had to; only ya have remained! Make yer revenge, Heather! Kill me! Kill me, bitch!"
Suddenly, Toothless eyes glimpsed a flash of auburn hair, however, he failed in catching the figure, to whom they belonged, and which slip through the two of them, swiftly. Hiccup, who appeared just in the moment when Heather swung her axe at Dagur, blocked her attack with her sword, at which the black-haired woman glared at her, outraged.
Instantly, Hiccup pushed her away by pressing her weapon into hers, harder, and stood in between them and Dagur, whose face was transformed by awe and satisfaction. Panting, the woman opened her mouth to speak, but she was overtaken by furious Heather.
"Damn it, Hiccup! Not agreeing is one, but refraining us from-!"
"I know, I know, but Heather, please, listen to me," Hiccup started, lifting her sword higher before herself. "I guarantee ya that ye're makin' a mistake."
"Hiccup, ya have come to save me? How sweet of ya!" Dagur crooned, pouting, pleased. "Although, I'm not much surprised. I knew ya would come back; who'd refuse such a power we two can have, together!"
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Toothless fumed, scowling at Dagur, setting his jaw. "There is no 'two of you' and there won't ever be!"
"Toothless, please, calm down," Hiccup whispered, gazing at him, beseechingly, while the man only glanced at her shortly, narrowing his eyes at her.
Glimpsing so, Dagur's brows cocked, before smirking, widely. "Ah, I see how it is!" he exclaimed, while his eyes darted. "This is yer man, Hiccup! Well, I must take back my words, he doesn't seem like a weaklin', but neither like a Viking," he indicated, while Toothless's nostrils flared. "Are ya sure ya prefer him? He may not be so bad, but are ya seriously think he'll be a good chief?! Ha! If so, then ye're more stupid than-,"
"Shut up, shut up, shut the fuck up, you motherfucker!" Toothless boomed, throwing around his arms, and hence, his axes. "I swear, I will break every, even the tiniest bone, in your freaking body if I hear one more word from you!"
"Toothless, stop that, please!" Hiccup yelled, directing her sword at him, so the blade almost cut through his huffing chest. "I'm beggin' ya."
It was just then that he gazed at her, studying her, while knitting his brows, and immediately, he hesitated, broken, finally noticing the state of beloved him woman.
Tensing her hold on the handle of her sword, Hiccup attempted to hide how her arms shook, unsuccessfully. Her eyes swam with tears, which she was fighting back while staring at him and straightening with pretended confidence.
Subsequently, his arms fell back to his sides, and with that, he let go of two weapons, which hit the ground, making a clattering sound. After that, Hiccup loosened, plastering a weak smile on her face, and while so, Heather, who has been stunned for the whole time, came back to reality.
"Enough!" she shouted, taking advantage of the fact Hiccup's mind and weapon were concentrated on the man before her, and pulled her away from Dagur, sharply.
Doing so, Heather used the same hand that held her axe, because of which, Hiccup's arm impaled on the sharper part of the metal, resulting in her collapse, followed by silent whining. Afterward, Heather just stared, unable to move at the view of what she has caused, while Toothless kneeled in front of lying Hiccup, gasping, startled.
"Heather, what's gotten into you?!" Toothless roared, before grasping Hiccup's cheek and lifting her head. "Are you alright, freckle?" he whispered, leaning over her, fretting.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," she responded, raising herself slowly up. "It's just a cut," she added, but then, her eyes widened at the sight of her fingers, covered by the thick, red liquid, and gazed at her shoulder, gasping, "A really deep cut."
"It's okay," he assured, ricocheting at Heather angrily, and focused on Hiccup, keeping her back upright with his arm. "I'll take care of this, alright?" he vouched, and after Hiccup nodded, staring at her wound dazed, he grasped one of his axes and cut off the part of his sleeve, which he crumpled, hard. "Hold it, like this," he ordered, pressing the material to the cut, at which she hissed, but listened, replacing his grip with hers.
Afterward, Toothless's heart ached, detecting how Hiccup's teeth gnashed with pain, and he stroked the back of her head, burying his hand in her hair. At the note, Hiccup beamed at him, breathing out alleviated, when suddenly, Heather screwed up her face, aroused from being frozen.
"T-That doesn't change anything!" she snorted, shaking her head, firmly. "He- he still killed my parents, my family! I won't let it slide like that, you hear me?! I won't!" she yelled, clutching her hair hyperventilating, while Toothless and Hiccup traded concerned glances, after which, the man stood up, and helped Hiccup do the same, before they moved forward, blocking Heather's view of Dagur. "You traitor!" she yapped, boring her eyes into Toothless, madly.
"I'm sorry Heather, but Hiccup's right. Look, what that assassination attempt did to you!" he remarked before shame crossed his face. "What it did to us."
Even so, Heather didn't bother, grimacing at him, and while she was about to speak up, Hiccup interrupted her. "Heather, if ya would just let me explain-,"
"I don't want to listen to anything you have to say! He deserves it! He is a killer, a murderer, a madman-!"
"He is yer brother!" Hiccup snapped, and glimpsing Heather's lost expression sighed and repeated, "Dagur is yer brother."
Thereafter, Hiccup began explaining, describing how she went through Heather's bag, how she found her horn from her childhood times, how her father elucidated to her its purpose, and listening to that, Heather found herself suffocating, while her eyes welled up.
Dagur couldn't be her brother, she thought, but neither could she deny it, after listening to each of Hiccup's logical claims. He was a monster, she remembered, and then, her stomach flipped, but then, if he was her family, who was she?
"At the beginnin', I believed that ya were my sister and that if ya killed Dagur our village would be doomed, but then-,"
"Sunshine, that's enough," Toothless disrupted as Hiccup went on, and placed his hand on her neck, exhaling, "It's enough."
Witnessing what he did, Hiccup surveyed Heather's shivering body, which also stepped away, frightened. Thereafter, she gazed at Toothless, who gave her a lopsided grin, and then, she thrust against his shoulder her head, snuggling closer to his surprised self.
Subsequently, observing Hiccup's squeezed eyes as she hid her face in his shirt, he relieved tension, leaning his cheek on her head, before exhaling, soundly. Eventually, the silence, which surrounded the room, was interrupted by the babbling behind the two of them.
"No, no, that's not possible. S-She isn't my sister, she can't be," Dagur objected, shaking his head. "She isn't Helena!" he bellowed and laughed suddenly, and immediately, Toothless griped Hiccup's arms as they moved away from him, staring at him, troubled. "Ya are liars! Liars, fuckin' liars! How dare ya even compare my sister to her!" he gave Heather a once-over before his eyes landed on Hiccup, snapping his brows together. "How dare ya, Hiccup Haddock?! How dare ya spread out these lies?! How dare ya, ya fuckin', skanky-!"
Abruptly, the stream of his words was stopped, once Toothless bolted to him and punched him, knocking him out, while his chair fell down to the ground, strongly. Subsequently, he stretched his arms and gazed at the two women, who gawked at him, disoriented.
"What? I didn't kill him."
After his words, Hiccup shook her head, while the corner of her mouth lifted, and just then, she straightened, once hearing the roars from over them. "Heather's friends, we have to go!" Windshear informed and the boat shook, almost sending all three to the ground. "There are more of them!"
Instantly, Hiccup and Toothless exchanged knowing glances, and the woman hurried to Heather, leading her away to the door. "We've to go," she elucidated, when Heather skimmed at her, confused.
"B-But what about-,"
"Don't mind him," Toothless replied before Heather could finish her question. "Let's just go."
Thereafter, he opened the entrance, held the door for them, and once Hiccup was about to leave she brushed her hand against his, smiling. Following her, Heather stopped in the doorframe, and glanced at Dagur last time, squeezing her eyes, before hurrying after the woman, with Toothless just behind her, shutting the door behind himself, loudly.
