Chapter 3 Nen Types
"Thank you for your condolences." said Aria as she was sitting in a bed still unable to walk. "My parents will be missed. Don't worry I'll make sure that all deals and contracts my father made will stay in place until they are fulfilled."
The man she was talking to bowed before leaving the room. The second the door was shut Aria let out a sigh of relief before she became angry, very angry. After she woke up she found herself in a dirty clinic, bedreden as her legs were in no condition to use. The doctor had taken out the arrows but he didn't have anything to get her up and moving so she had to wait for Sayo to come back and explain to her that there was an Arrow in her heart and it would push deeper into her heart if she didn't do what Sayo said. She couldn't lie to her or hurt anyone else, if she did she would feel intense pain if she lied and she would die if she killed again. She was trapped and all she wanted to do was kill the three country bumpkins that put her here. She was able to reach out to her uncle and was able to secure a large amount of her family's fortune and property. She had to sell the house and buy a smaller house for her to use, but the worst part was that she was being forced to have a babysitter named Alissa. She didn't say much but she worked for Sayo and Alissa made it clear that she was willing to kill her.
"That damn bitch. If it wasn't for her. I'll kill her, some way somehow I will kill her and play with her. She will know my wrath." she said in anger as she imagined her torturing and killing Sayo.
"Oh and how are you going to do that when you're stuck in a bed?" said Sayo from a corner of the room.
"YOU! How the hell did you get past my uncle's guards?"
"Please, you think those amateurs could stop me, they're not dead, I snuck in. I came here to check up on you."
"Oh really. What, were you worried about me."
"After all of the shit you've done I couldn't care less if you dropped dead. Though I was the one who kept you alive and have responsibility because of it, you have your uses so play nice and do as we say and you will get to live."said Sayo making sure she had her best poker face on.
Aria's face looked like it was about to explode. Even with her life hanging in the balance she still couldn't accept some commoner talking to her like this. She grabbed her bedside cup. "You dirty little country bitch." as she threw the cup. Sayo did bother dodging as the cup hit her shoulder. The moment it did pain shot throughAria as she began to cough up blood as she grabbed her chest. The arrow was digging deeper.
Sayo sighed at the scene and walked to the bed and grabbed the servant bell rope and gave it a pull. Sayo watched Aria continue to cough blood for several minutes until she was just breathing heavily.
The door opened up to reveal the mercenary girl that tried to find Night Raid's base. "Yes, what do you want? Oh Sayo what are you doing here?" asked Alissa. When Alissa woke up in the Night Raid, they discovered Alissa to be in a weird hypnotic state, that's when Ieyasu remembered that his Mind Breaker ability flooded the victims senses and put them in a state of mind where they would answer any question honestly. Sensei suggested he have an ability like this just in case he or someone gets hit with a Nen ability that they need to find a way to dispel. So Ieyasu made the condition that to use this ability, he could only use it every now and then, the longer he went without using it the stronger it would become. By the time Alissa woke up she almost had no idea who she was. After they got as much information as possible out of her, they made a deal with her. Slowly but surely her memories came back and she thanked them. In short her life sucked and she couldn't find a way out until they showed up. So she happily accepted the offer for a clean slate.
"Oh I'm here just to check up on how things are going here." said Sayo as she looked over Aria who was giving her a death glare. "Would you mind bringing a pitcher of water and a rag to clean Aria up."
"Of course." Said Alissa who disappeared for a moment before coming back with a pitcher of water and a rag.
"Well it looks like you have everything handled here, I'll be back to check on you guys in a few days. Aria, behave and be a good girl." Aria gave her the finger. "Alissa makes sure she and everything else here stays in good condition."
"Yes ma'am." Alissa said with a bow as Sayo left. Without looking she could tell Aria was glaring at the door. Alissa quickly but her knife into Aria's bed board. "She is my ticket out of here. If you fuck this up I will be the one to kill you." she took the knife out and left Aria alone.
"Crazy ass bitchies. Just wait I'll get you sooner or later."

It was currently sunset when Leone and Ieyasu arrived at the graveyard. "Of all the places to have a meeting, does it have to be a graveyard." asked Ieyasu a little creeped out about the graveyard.
"Don't worry we should be able to get this over with quickly besides aren't you a big strong man don't tell you a few tombstones." teased Leone with a grin.
"Nen can last after death." this wiped the grin off her face. "You've heard of cursed tombs or graverobbers that die of strange causes. That's Nen. Some people that use Nen will create something with their power to kill whoever killed them. To Nen user's a graveyard could be a death trap if we're not careful. It's why we try to avoid these places as much as possible."
"Holy shit, you can even do stuff like that with Nen." she said before she heard something with her beast hearing. "Here she comes. Hide behind that tree, I'll do the talking."
Ieyasu did what she said. As a woman in a cloak entered the cemetery. "Are you the one with Night Raid." Leone gave a silent nod. "Orge the captain of the guards has been accepting bribes from an oil merchant named Gamal."
Nether Leone or Ieyasu could sense anyone nearby, it appeared that the woman came on her own. "Alright continue."
"Everytime Gamal commits a crime, Orge will frame someone to take the fall for him. My fiance was framed for one of his crimes and was sentenced to death for it. He heard them talking about it while he was in a cell. Before he was executed, he was able to send me a letter so I would know all of this. Please," as she began to bow. "Please, somehow, help put him to rest, clear this pain from my heart." as tears began to flow from her eyes.
Leone took a wif and looked at the woman in front of her. "Understood, we will send them both to hell."
"Thank you miss, thank you so much." ash she handed Leone a bag of money. "I can't thank you enough." she turned around and began to leave.
Ieyasu stepped out from behind the tree. "Not gonna lie I'm new to this cloak and dagger thing she wasn't lying was she." as he looked at the large bag of money.
"No, she was telling the truth. I can smell a vaginal disease." Ieyasu's face twisted into horror as Leone explained. "She must have sold her body to come up with the money to hire us."
"You sure."
"Positive, I know that smell." she said, picking up the bag. "Come on, get this money to the boss and check how guilty those two are."
"One second." he said before disappearing.
"Ieyasu." she turned to see Ieyasu reappear in front of the widow.
"Sorry miss this might hurt but you'll thank me later." as he put his hand on her stomach. She was too shocked by his sudden appearance to do anything. A moment later she could feel something surge through her body before she slumped over unconscious.
"Hey what the hell are you doing she's our client, we don't kill our…"Leone stopped as she felt something. She quickly activated her Nen and saw the woman was now covered in Nen herself. "What the hell did you do, how the hell does she have Nen?"
"It's a little trick I learned while messing with a few Emitter ideas."
"Emitter?"
"Oh yeah we haven't explained that idea yet have we. To explain what's happening here I used my Nen to force her body to recover and also to make her cells kill the disease affecting her. This ability is meant to be used on myself so I can stay in the fight longer so it won't work immediately but in a few days her body should be as good as new."
"Okay you have got to teach me how to do that."
"Sure but I would like to say this now if one of them is guilty I call dibs on the kill."

Sayo made it back to the hideout shortly later. She walked into the kitchen, grabbed a snack and sat down at the table and gave off a big sigh.
"You okay."
Sayo turned to see Mine and Sheele in the doorway. "Oh hey guys how's it going?"
Mine grabbed an apple. "We're just taking a break, how about you, how was visiting the noble bitch?"
"She's behaving for now, I made sure that the arrow is still working and that she understands the rules and what happens if she breaks them." she said while nibbling on her sweet bread.
"Did something happen." asked Sheele concerned. "You look down."
"I'm sorry it's just I never thought that I would ever have to use that technique. The only reason I made that arrow was because my sensei told me a situation might arise where I would need it. I mean I have been in plenty of fights and been forced to take lives but to have a death grip on someone, it feels like I've stooped a bit to their level."
"Please," said Mine "That bitch deserves it. With everything that her family did, she deserves every bit of pain that arrow causes. To be honest I think she's getting off easy."
Sheele thought about what Sayo said. "Didn't think you would use it. Umm Sayo, Ieyasu said the same thing about that mind ability of his, why?"
"Uh well like I said before our sansei thought it would be a good idea. He's been around for awhile. He said there would be moments where we would have to get our hands dirty and he wanted us to be prepared for it. He asked that each of us make an ability that would allow us to ether manipulate or get info out of our enemies just in case we need to and I don't think any of us expected to use them. Then again now that I think about it we could have just killed them but now we have a noble in a high position that we can use and a watchmen for said noble so it might work out."
"Really, how so?" said Sheele tilting her head.
"Don't worry Sheele." said Mine "The boss and all the other heads of the revolution are coming up with several ideas for her. One way or another, keeping her alive will pay off."
"Thanks," said Sayo, happy to hear keeping the girl alive might help more than just finding their sensei. "By the way where's Ieyasu? I felt you guys and Tatsumi's Nen but I couldn't feel Ieyasu's, is he out training on his own?"
"No, he said that he was feeling cooped up here and that he was bored just watching us, so he went with Leone to meet with an informant about a job."
That was a surprise, Sayo couldn't see Ieyasu getting so bored to go to a meeting then again if Leone was there she could see why Ieyasu would want to go. 'That idiot can be such a perv sometimes. He needs to think more with his head and less with his dick.' she thought.
"Oh Sayo's back," said Bulat coming into the kitchen.
"Hey Bulat how's it going."
"Going great, Leone and Ieyasu just got back and Tatsumi wanted me to get everyone to come to the meeting hall. Apparently he says it maybe time to move on to bigger stuff.

"Alright glad you're all here," said Tatsumi pulling a chalkboard to the meeting hall. "Ieyasu, how was your trip to the city with Leone?" he asked after seeing his friend was a little down.
Ieyasu thought for a moment. "It didn't go as well as I thought it was going to go. I really hate this city."
"Its a bit of a story but we'll give you the full details later." said Leone "But what were you expecting Ieyasu, a romantic evening, maybe a chance to crop a feel of your big sis Leone. Hmmm" she teased while giving him a great shot of her cleavage. Causing Ieyasu to forget everything and blow steam out of his nose. Some of the members of Night Raid laughed at the antics while some like Sayo face palmed while Mine began to call Ieyasu a pervert.
"Okay let's get things back on track." said Tatsumi "Before we move on to the fourth principle, I want to see each of you use Ten, Zetsu and Ren." The members of Night Raid got serious and got lined up and built up there Nen and held it with Ten. "Good all of you definitely got it down. Alright let's see Zetsu." They quickly cut their Nen and began to suppress their aura cutting off their Nen. Akame was by far the quickest but each of them was able to switch from Ten to Zetsu in a few seconds, but that's to be expected from assassins. "Okay here's the tuff one, Ren." out of the three first principles Ren was the hardest for the assassin group. Though not in the way you'd think.
It was clear when they tried Ren for the first time that their Teigu affected them. Ren is to intensify your will or increase the output of your aura overall, but when the teigu wielders tried it their output was all over the place. Even when they had a hang on their Ren their Nen wasn't even and seemed wild. Najenda was the only one who had the closest to a normal Ren, thought to there surprise when they held their weapons their Nen evened out a little but it was clear that their Nen was being redirected to their weapon meaning after a bit of discussion and Night Raid being adamant about not dropping their Teigu all together, they came to the decision that to get the quickest handle on there Nen and to help take down the empire faster they would use their Nen around their weapons.
The hunters were okay since it was their choice but they made sure to pay attention to their health and their Nen so they could see to what extent the Teigu would affect their Nen.
Currently all members of Night Raid were holding a steady rate of Ren. "Wow have you really been training them for a week, they look like they have been doing this for years." said Ieyasu
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," said Sayo "Take a look at them physically." Even though all of them were able to use Ren it was clear they were far from mastering it and for some reason the hunters could tell that they were straining physically to maintain Ren. "I think this confirms our theory that those Teigu cut corners for people who can't use Nen to have a way to use it. It screws with their progress of mastering Nen."
Tatsumi nodded in agreement. "Okay that's enough you can stop now." All Night Raid almost collapsed where they stood all of them looking as if they ran three marathons back to back.
"Hey Tatsumi, do you really think they're ready for the next stage?" Asked Sayo "They have the amount of Nen for it but I don't think they will have enough control to take it."
"Yeah I have to agree with Sayo on this one," said Ieyasu "Their progress with Nen is unusual and are you sure it's a good idea to rush them like this?"
"That's the reason I want to move to the next step, if we know what they need to work on then they can focus on it and hopefully it will help them with their control."
"Focus," said Lubbock in between breaths of air. "What do mean…..huff... by that."
"Wait does this have something to do with that Emitter thing Ieyasu mentioned?" said Leone "Is it some sort of fighting style or something?"
Tatsumi and Sayo turned to Ieyasu. "Hey I only briefly mentioned it. I didn't go into any details at all."
"Okay then allow me to explain the last principle of Nen, Hatsu." said Tatsumi pulling the chalkboard in front of the others. "Hatsu is your own personal Nen, I'll cut all of the spiritual mumbo jumbo for later and just tell you this is the part where you make your own ability."
This got all their attention. They began to ask questions at a rapid fire rate. "What will we be able to do?" "Can it work with my weapon?" "What's the limit we can have with these abilities?" ""Can I eat more food with it?" "Remind me again what abilities are we talking about?"
"Okay stop." said Tatsumi pushing them back while Sayo was laughing in the background. "Let me explain a few things first okay, you've all come a long way in a really quick time, one that I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. So I want you guys to practice the basics and stick to the basics for a bit until we are sure you can use your abilities without any issues, understood."
The members of Night Raid rang off that they understood and would comply with the wish. "We mean it." said Sayo "We are embarking on new territory here, understood. So don't do anything stupid."
Ieyasu decided he should say something as well. "And just to make sure you guys aren't going to tell anyone else until you master Nen."
"Don't worry." said Najenda "With how much risk there is, I don't want to involve anyone else until we get a good hang on Nen. Though with your permission down the line I would like to bring in a person or two."
"That's fine but for now let's find out which category of Nen you guys belong to."
"Category?"
Tatsumi began to draw a hexagram on the chalkboard. "Everyone with Nen falls into six different categories. These are pretty much decided at birth, it's rare but it is possible to change your Nen category later in life. You also don't need to restrict yourself to the category you're in but it's highly recommended that you work on your main category first before moving onto your side categories." Tatsumi pointed to the top of the Hexagon. "The first category is Enhancer. Enhancers have the ability to strengthen themselves and other objects."
"So be buff and punch hard, got it." said Leone
Tatsumi moved to the top right point of the hexagon. "The next category is called Transmuter. This category means that you specialize into turning the properties of your aura into something else like making it as hard as still or turning it into lightning."
"What if we're a transmuter, we can throw lightning at people." asked Lubbock imagining himself smiting men like a god with Najenda by his side.
"Or change it into gum or fire, your choice." he said before pointing to the top left point of the hexagon. "Emission or Emitters, they have the ability to separate their aura and use long range attacks, or indirect attacks."
"Hey isn't Ieyasu an Emitter," asked Leone
"Yep" said Tatsumi as Ieyasu grinned and puffed out his chest earning a tiny chop to the head from Sayo.
"So then was that ability from earlier an Emitter ability."
"and why do you use a giant blade if you are supposed to be a ranged fighter." asked Mine.
Ieyasu grinned as he swung his blade around for show. "Just because you're in a certain category doesn't mean you have to follow one unique fighting style it just means that your powers have the same base. Speaking of which let me give you a good warning, don't go telling people what category you're in so easily, one way to get an advantage on your opponent in Nen is to find out their category first before they figure yours out."
"He's right, knowing your opponents Nen might lead you to understanding their abilities quicker and that will give you a huge advantage in battle." said Tatsumi confirming his friend. "Now moving on." as he pointed to the bottom right corner of the Hexagon. "This is Conjuration, a conjurer can make objects out of their aura, they can't make something unbreakable but they can change or alter the size, weight or structure of the object they make."
Najenda raised her hand. "Is it limited to just objects or can they create other things?"
"Food" said Akame as she imagined making food out of thin air she could eat.
Tatsumi sweat dropped as he say Akame begin to drool at the thought. "Umm I don't know about food but you can do more then just make objects, we once met a guy who could conjure apes to fight for him."
"Apes?" they all said as the image popped in their heads, which gave a few of them ideas, some more useful than others.
Tatsumi moved to the bottom left point of the hexagon. "This is the manipulation category, Manipulators have the ability that's well kind of self explanatory, they can manipulate objects around them, they can also manipulate their own bodies to mimic certain abilities Enhancer's have."
This was the first time no one had any questions. So Tatsumi continued "Noe these five are the main ones, the last one is called Specialist, this one is the rarest out of the six and almost impossible for anyone to switch to this category. Specialist abilities are ones that don't fit into any of the other types, and even if you are a Emitter or a Conjurer, the chances of you having a specialist ability are very low in fact" Tatsumi put a dotted line between Emitter and Conjurer. "If you fall into either category just skip over specialist, ignore it."
"So there's a reason it's in the shape of a Hexagon," said Bulat "When you spoke about side categories, you were saying we could learn abilities based in other categories correct?"
"Yep," said Tatsumi. "Let's use Ieyasu as an example since you already know that he's an Emitter." Tatsumi wrote a 100% next to Emitter. "If you have the Emitter category you can get a hundred percent out of it, but you can only get about 60 to 80 percent out of Enhancer or Manipulation, and 20 to 40 percent out of Transmuter or Conjurer. Most people focus on their category and their side categories and ignore the last two for them."
"Okay, but how do you know which type you are?" said Mine wanting to know already. "You still haven't told us how we can tell yet."
The three hunters couldn't help but smile seeing how egar some of them were. "We're going to use a water divination test to see which type each of you are." This confused them for a moment as Ieyasu brought a table and put it right in front of them while Sayo put a tray on the table and then put a clear cup in the tray poured water into it until it reached the top, then she put a single leaf on top of the water. The group surrounded the small table to get a good look. "Hey Ieyasu how about you show them how it works."
"You got it." Ieyasu walked over to the cup and hovered his hands over the glass, as he channeled his Nen into the cup it began to change colors and in twenty seconds it was a dark shade of green.
"If the cup changes color it mean that you are an Emitter," said Tatsumi "Just put your hands over the cup and channel your Nen into it and depending on the reaction we can see what your Nen type is. So who wants to go first."
"DIBS." said Leone as she took Ieyasu's spot in front of the cup, she began to focus her Nen into the cup. Everyone watched at the water slowly overflowed the cup and slowly spilled over. "I'm increasing it, what does that mean?"
"It means that you are an Enhancer."
"Yosh, I'll be able to pound more people into the ground." she said pounding her fist together.
"My turn." said Mine
"What I wanted to go next." said Lubbock
"Then you should be a gentleman and let the ladies go first." said Mine, which Lubbock made a flat chest remark causing them to start arguing back and forth.
"Alright I'll go next," said Bulat, cutting between Lubbock and Mine. He pushed his Nen into the water, as he did some sort of crystal was beginning to form inside the water. "What is that thing?"
Sayo stepped forward. "That means you're a conjurer," she put her hand over the cup as a crystal version of herself appeared at the bottom of the cup. "Like me."
Bulat grinned. "Then I look forward to working with you."
"Hey." Yelled Mine as Lubbock stepped forward while they were still distracted by Sayo's statue.
Lubbock pushed his nen and the water began to change color into a light green. "Oh so I'm a Emitter huh."
Ieyasu put an arm around Lubbock. "Don't worry my friend I'll show you some cool tricks we can do."
Najenda stepped forward and wordlessly put her hand over the cup. At first nothing happened until the leaf started to move around the cup spinning. "It's spinning. What does that mean?"
"It means that you're a Manipulator." said Sayo as she eyed Najenda's robotic arm.
"My turn finally." said Mine as she quickly put her aura into the glass as she did it slowly turned a light pink. "Wait you mean I have the same thing that Lubbock has, GROSS."
"HEY WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!"
"IT MEANS THAT YOUR A DISGUSTING PERVERT!"
As they began to resume arguing causing the other to get a sweat drop. "Sheele, you can go next." said Akame
"Okay." she said as she took her turn, at first nothing happened until the leaf started to switch, then it started to crumble in on itself and turned into a leaf ball before finally splitting perfectly in half. "Oh I broke it."
Everyone stared at the cup for a moment not sure what that meant. "Huh haven't seen that one before." said Lubbock
"Hey is this what a Tranmuter does?" asked Leone but got no response. "Uh guys."
They all looked at the hunters and saw their faces were frozen in shock. All three of them had their eyes glued to the cup. "Um, did I do something wrong?" asked Sheele, worried she might have screwed up again.
"Huh no you didn't screw anything up." said Sayo breaking out of the trace."Its just we have never seen this before."
Ieyasu began nodding. "Yeah we have never seen this, this is rare like only 1% of the population can pull that off, rare."
Tatsumi reached into the cup and grabbed the leaf. "Sheele, you're a specialist."
Sheele didn't know exactly what that meant but she could tell from their expression that it was something big. "Specialist."
"You've mentioned Specialist but you kind of glossed over it." said Najenda "What exactly is a specialist?"
Tatsumi thought for a moment to best describe it. "A Specialist can be pretty much anything. Some can see the future, others can make huge conjurations and manipulate them freely, and we have heard of one that can use an ability from each category."
The rest of Night Raid took a moment to let the words sink in. They have only known the Hunters for a little bit but after seeing what they could do, they could only imagine the power a specialist could hold and Sheele was one of them. Though Sheele looked like she didn't get it at all.
"Oh that's nice." she said with a big smile.
"Uh Sheele did you get anything I just said."
"Not really."
"Uhhh." everyone muttered at Sheele airheadedness.
"We can get back to this later." Said Najenda "Akame let's see what you got."
Akame gave a small nod and put her Nen into the cup. Only for nothing to happen. "Nothings happening."
"Oh wait we need another leaf, right." said Bulat as everyone noticed that the leaf was gone cause Sheele destroyed it.
"Oh yeah we kind of need that." said Leone
"Maybe not." said Tatsumi as he put his finger into the water and then licked his finger. "As I thought, everyone put a finger in the cup, have a taste." This confused the others at first but they did as he said.
"Whao."
"This tastes funny."
"It tastes sweeter."
"Kind of like honey."
While Akame got stars in her eyes.
"This is the power of a Transmuter." said Tatsumi with a grin, one that Akame returned. "Here" as he put his hand over the cup. "Give this a taste, I'm a transmuter myself."
They gave the water a taste again. "Whoa now that's honey.
"Oh my god that's so sweet."
"This is fantastic."
"I could get used to this."
While Akame's eyes turned into spot lights.
"Whoa turn it down Akame."
"Hey Tatsumi where's the cup?" asked Sayo
"It was right here." he then looked at Akame who was licking the inside of the cup.
She kept licking it with a dreaming, before she realized she was out. "More please."
Causing everyone to sweat drop. "No."
"Please." she said with stars still in her eyes.
Leone got an idea that made her get a Cheshire grin. "Hey Tatsumi how does that Nen of yours affect other food." This question caused Akame to resume her spot light eyes.
Tatsumi had to force Akame away. "I don't know I never tried."
"Sayo, has Tatsumi every tried that?" asked Ieyasu
"No, now that I think about it I don't think he's ever tried." she said now wondering as well how it would affect the food. "Huh, everyone who votes for Tatsumi to cook tonight say Aye."
"HEY"
"AYE" said everyone else.
"Oh come on" he began to complain "At least someone help me, Akame can eat more than all of you combine."
"Extra Nen on mine please."
"My Nen isn't seasoning."
