Hey, guys. Welcome back to the third chapter of The Resilient Spider-Man. So first before I get started, I want to thank MBS41 for the review. I haven't thought about the Spider-Man and My Hero Academia crossover yet, but I will take it into consideration. And if anybody's wondering what ideas I have for the sequels, I will introduce the other villains such as Scorpion, Rhino, Doc Ock, Electro, Vulture, Sandman, and a few other villains from the comics. Anyway, this is the third chapter, and in this chapter, Adam discovers that he has powers, getting into a fight with Ned Leeds at school, and he makes his own web-shooters and homemade suit. So, this is the third chapter, and here we go.

Hours after arriving at school, Adam was in gym class with Rebecca, who was doing sit-ups while he was watching her, as they were taking turns doing sit-ups as part of their gym class assignment.

"So, when did you get muscular?" she asked.

"I actually have no idea. I fell asleep after I got home and somehow, I just had a dream about being muscular and somehow when I woke up this morning, it just happened." he replied.

"I don't believe the word that comes out of your mouth." she snorted.

"Hey, believe me. I didn't set foot once in the weight room in school." he said.

After the sit-ups exercise, Adam and the rest of his classmates were running laps, until weird things had started to happen. Adam was running normally until somehow, he was faster than any of his classmates in gym class.

"When did this happen?" he asked himself.

Rebecca, who was still trailing behind, was shocked to see her friend had ran faster than anybody. There was absolutely no way he was faster.

'What did I just see?' she thought.

Adam, having noticed the look on Rebecca's face, had no idea what had just happened.

Later at lunch time, the two friends were eating as they had sat opposite from each other. While they were eating, a voice suddenly screamed inside Adam's mind as he caught a football being thrown at him, and he caught it, surprisingly with his back turned.

"Hey, new kid! Throw that back, would you?" Ned Leeds, a sophomore and the captain of the football team called.

"Yeah, sure." Adam replied.

As Adam tried to throw the football back, his right hand was suddenly stuck to it.

'What the... What's happening to me?' he thought.

The Chinese teen continued to struggle to get the football off his right hand, until he muttered out to himself, "Stop sticking!"

Ultimately, Adam does get the football off his hand until he unintentionally tossed it back right at Ned, hitting the jock in the face.

"What did I just do?" Adam asked himself as he looked down on his right hand.

Realizing that he had just made a mistake, Adam quickly ran out of the cafeteria, leaving Rebecca behind as he could hear Ned telling one of his football teammates to hold the ball.

"Nowhere to run, nerd!" Ned shouted.

"Hey, man. I don't want to fight you, okay?" said Adam.

"Yeah, well. I don't like to fight me either." Ned snorted.

Not long after that, some of the students had gathered around the hallway to see the fight. Ned then tried to punch Adam, until Adam swiftly moved out of the way with ease.

"You little..." Ned snarled as he tried to punch Adam again.

This time, without moving out of the way, Adam suddenly grabbed and twisted Ned's arm.

'What's happening to me? First, my right hand got stuck on a football, and now my reflexes got improved?' Adam thought.

Without any hesitation, Adam soon performs a takedown, sending Ned right to the floor. Rebecca soon joined in, wondering what has gotten into her friend. Adam looked at Rebecca, until he realized she was scared of him. Not long after, he quickly ran out of the school and ran to an alleyway. Soon after, he began hearing the voices inside his mind again.

'You're like me. You're like me. I don't want to be a hero.' the voices echoed.

"Stop!" Adam cried as he pressed both of his hands to cover his ears.

The voices eventually stopped echoing inside his mind, and Adam felt like he could breathe a little more easier. Looking down on his hands, he began to wonder what was in the spider that bit him. He then recalled his right hand being stuck on the football, before an idea suddenly popped up inside his mind. He looked around to see if anyone was watching him, but the coast seemed to be cleared for him. He then placed his right hand on the wall, and surprisingly, it sticked to the wall. Next, Adam placed his left hand on the wall as well, until he had started climbing on the wall with both his hands and his feet, like a spider.

"Whoa. Did the radioactive spider gave me powers of a spider? What was the ESU doing experimenting on the spiders?" he asked himself.

Without a second thought, he continued climbing until he reached to the rooftop.

"This is new. First, my vision got improved, next I got muscular, and now I can stick to the walls?" he muttered to himself.

Looking at the next building, Adam ran and before he knew it, he jumped and landed right at the rooftop. Letting out a chuckle, he began to wonder what he could do next. Bringing out his right arm, he attempts to do the thwip gesture, but nothing happened.

"Huh. I guess I got synthetic webbing from the spider that bit me. I'm gonna need to make my own suit and go through some junk to make my own web-shooters." he said to himself.

Deciding to figure things out later, Adam jumped off the building and landed on the sidewalk. While he was walking, he started to realize that he has history class after lunch, as he had forgotten about school.

"Oh, no. I forgot that I still have school! I better get back there in time for history class." he cried.

After returning to school and being on time for the rest of the day, Adam was called to the principal's office for the fight with Ned earlier during lunch period. And that was the moment Adam knew his mother or his father would be showing up in school to lecture him for getting into trouble.

"Mr. Chiang, do you know why you're here?" the school's principal Morita questioned.

"No sir." Adam replied.

"Well, according to the students in the cafeteria, they said they saw you getting into a fight with Ned Leeds in the hallway." Morita reminded.

"Yeah, it was me." Adam admitted, feeling defeated.

"Adam, it's already been one week since you started your first year of high school and you're already getting into a fight with one of the sophomores. You should be better than this."

"I know, sir." Adam agreed.

"You're a good kid, Adam. But I will let this slide for now. If you cause any more trouble in school, you're in detention."

"I understand, sir." said Adam.

"Good. In that case, you're dismissed. But I don't want to see you in my office again."

Adam nodded before he got up from his seat and left the principal's office. He then went to science class and started jotting down some ideas on making web fluids. He began mixing one of the glass vials in one of the hidden drawers before closing the drawer so that his science teacher wouldn't notice him making web fluids.

After the science class ended, it was now the end of the school day. Adam took the bottle labelled with web fluid on it and quickly stashed it in his backpack so that no one would see it because the last thing he didn't need is the whole school noticing that he has spider powers. Closing his locker, he slung his backpack over his shoulders as he left the school building, needing to get home as soon as possible so he could get started on salvaging some parts to make his web-shooters as well as making his own homemade suit.

Arriving at a junkyard, Adam observed some of the employees throwing out the old parts that were either useless or no longer useful. He walked over to one of the employees carrying a box of old parts that were ready to be thrown out.

"Excuse me, do you mind if I go through the box before you throw it out?" he asked.

"Sure, have at it kid."

Adam began going through some of the junk before he found some good parts to make the web-shooters and stashed it in his backpack. Thanking the employee, Adam went home. While he was walking, he was being watched by Peter, the original Spider-Man.

"I'm really glad that one of the radioactive spiders bit that kid. But he's gonna have a lot to figure out if he wants to be a good Spider-Man, just like how I was before." said Peter.

Peter eventually considered training Adam to become the next Spider-Man so that Peter would take a break from being Spider-Man and spent lots of time with MJ and Mayday, and Peter hoped that Adam would pass on the knowledge and mantle to anyone who would be Adam's successor. And Peter also considered giving some of his suits to Adam, but Peter knew Adam isn't at the suit upgrade stage just yet since Adam has been bitten one of the spiders during the field trip.

Moments later, after returning home, Adam went to his bedroom and took the web fluid bottle and some of the old parts out of his backpack as he got to work on making the web-shooters. After completing the web-shooters, Adam opened the web fluid and carefully poured it, as he hoped that he wouldn't make a mess. Once he had poured the whole bottle into the web-shooters, he puts the empty bottle back in his backpack in case if he needs to make more of the web cartridges.

"Okay, web-shooters are ready, and I need a basic suit. Wait a second. How did the original Spider-Man make his own basic suit?" he muttered.

Adam then left the apartment to find some materials to make his own homemade suit since his parents own a sewing machine. About half an hour later, he returns to the apartment and before he could even think about getting started on making the suit, his parents were already home, and they were not happy with him. Adam knew he was screwed either way, because his parents knew that he got into a fight in school today.

"Adam, care to explain?" asked Daniel.

The Chinese teen explained that he got into a fight with Ned Leeds in school during lunch time and how he had to defend himself. After explaining the incident, Adam immediately got to work on making his homemade suit as well as the spider symbol on the front and back of the suit. Once he had finished making the suit, he quickly hid it in his backpack, as he had decided that he'll test out both the suit and the web-shooters tomorrow.

The next day after school, Adam changed into his homemade suit and attached the web-shooters on his wrists. Going to an empty alleyway, he climbed all the way up to the rooftop of a building as he set up the empty cans on the ledge.

"Here goes nothing." he muttered.

He brought out his right arm and fired a web out of his web-shooter, and before he knew it, the web had knocked one of the empty cans off the roof.

"Whoa. That's cool." he said to himself.

He continued the target practice and that was when he knew he had to improve on the web fluids. Now wondering what else he could do, he stood on the ledge of the rooftop, he fired a web from his left wrist, creating a web line, he grabbed the web with both of his hands, then he jumped off the rooftop into the street below, and he began swinging around Manhattan as everyone looked up at him.

Landing safely on the ground, Adam took off his mask and lets out a deep breath.

"Man, that was exhilarating. I think I need to work on my web swinging. I wonder what other powers I have besides wall crawling." said Adam before he corrected himself, "Wait a minute. I have super strength as well. Is that how Spider-Man got his own super strength when he got his powers?"

Deciding that he needs to find the original Spider-Man, Adam changes back into his regular clothes as he left the alleyway. Somewhere in the distance, Cassandra and Julia were watching Adam, as they were now aware that he was getting closer to embracing his destiny as the new Spider-Man on Earth-618. However, Cassandra and Julia were not aware that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, known by their hero names Iron Man and Captain America, was watching Adam as well.

After leaving the alleyway, Adam was walking to Times Square until his phone received a text message notification. To his surprise, Rebecca had texted him, as he believed that she doesn't want to talk to him since the fight in the school hallway.

Rebecca - I want to meet with you.

Adam - Sure, where do you want to meet?

Rebecca - Meet me at Starbucks.

Adam - I'll see you there.

And that is it for the third chapter. Why does Rebecca want to meet with Adam, and what does Tony Stark and Steve Rogers have planned for Adam? Will Adam join the Avengers or the Spider Society? If you guys are wondering what symbol I'm using for the homemade suit, I'm using the spider symbol from the 2018's PS4 game. Let me know what you guys thought of the third chapter in the reviews. Also, I will be doing a Q once I finish the first book. If you guys have any questions regarding this story, PM me and I will answer the questions in a bonus chapter. And I'll see you in chapter four.
