Boscha, Amity, and Luz sat at a table in the library. Boscha was reading Space Jam, the Novel. Amity was reading Mother of Inventions, and next to them was a small stack of books with the top one titled, "This is a Book"... the American Education system ladies and gentlemen.
"So, you guys just attend classes here like regular students? And mom managed to set this all up? How does this affect your education at Hexside?" Luz asked.
"It's a bit tough to explain, this being a brand new program." Amity said, looking up from her book, "As for your mom... well, the way dad tells it, she practically took control of the P.C.A. meeting. Principal Bump had reservations, but she had some leverage in the form of a certain... dissection incident."
Luz rested her face on her hand and gave Amity the biggest, 'Oh Really' smile.
"Heh. Funny how that all worked out, huh?" Luz said.
"Yeah, I still regret my part in that, but I can't argue with the results. Anyway, the main argument for the Hexside Exchange Program was about Belos and Eda. With her constant visits to the Human Realm, Eda kind of exposed us to humankind. Again, no complaints from me, but this posed a risk to witches and demons. Camila figured that the world would inevitably find out about the demon realm, and the H.E.P would help gradually introduce us to the human realm." Amity explained, "Then there was Belos, who managed to infiltrate the Boiling Isles and take it over. It was unanimously decided that we should educate ourselves about humans to avoid repeating history. Mainly so we can accommodate more Luzs and fewer Philips."
Luz leaned close to Amity with a smirk.
"More Luzs? Are you no longer satisfied with one?" Luz asked.
Amity blushed and looked everywhere but Luz.
"Heheheh... I mean... more of you would be nice. That is, more people like you. Not like some fantasy about... not that I ever had... an-anyway, we're doing general studies here, but we're also specializing in specific classes, then we submit reports of what we learn to the faculty at Hexside." Amity said, "Boscha is taking sports and prepping demonstrations for the students back in Bonesborough."
Boscha raised an eyebrow as she read her book.
"Okay, this 'Basketball' sounds more interesting than Grudgby." Boscha said, "Getting to use so many weapons? So hardcore."
Scene changed to a science lab, where Edric was handling two beakers with gloves and safety goggles on.
"Ed immediately showed an interest in Chemistry. He's curious about how to apply that subject to his potion studies." Amity said.
"Cups? Ounces? Pints? What the heck is with these weird measurements?" Edric asked, "I thought humans knew about the metric system."
The scene changed to Skara in the music room, sitting on a bench with an acoustic guitar strapped around her shoulder and a sheet music stand in front of her.
"Skara is taking art and music classes." Amity said, "She's basically spearheading reports on nuance and beauty of human culture."
"Smelly Cat... Smelly Cat... What are they feeding yooouuuu?" Skara sang while strumming on her guitar.
The scene changed to a biology class where Emira and Viney were looking through a book... well Viney was, Emira was being big gay and blushing like mad at the mere fact that she's close to Viney. Behind them was white board with a drawing of a witches heart and an arrow pointing at the bile sac with the words Not in Humans.
"There's no equivalent of Beast Keeping classes, so Viney is learning about Healing through Health and Biology classes." Amity said, "Em is assisting her. She insisted that these classes were too much work for one witch. Of course she just wants to hang out with her crush."
"Must run in the family, huh?" Luz asked with a smirk and her hand on her chin.
"Hmph." Amity said, blushing, sweating, and not looking at Luz, "Moving on-"
The scene changed to shop class, where Matt was wearing heavy duty gloves and safety goggles while holding a nail gun after blasting a piece of wood with no less than nine nails, all in random areas.
"Matt is taking shop class to learn about human construction magic." Amity continued, "He's also here as a representive of the Human Appreciation Society."
Luz suddenly had a 'Oh Right' moment.
"Oh that reminds me! What about Willow and Gus?" Luz asked, "Didn't they want to take part in this?"
"Actually, Gus is playing an important part of the program." Amity said, "He's searching for humans who have experience with interrealm travel to invite them to attend Hexside."
In New York, Gus was showing his ears to two girls in an underground lab. One of the girls was intrigued in the concept of magic, the other looked like she was screaming in shock... which was probably the truth. Behind Gus, a red and black T-Rex was watching with interest.
"Willow wanted to be here, but she has her hands full trying to bring Flyer Derby to Glandus and St. Epiderm." Amity continued.
"And you, Ams?" Luz asked, "What's your area of study?"
Amity leaned her head on her hand and smiled.
"Well, it all looked so interesting, so I thought I'd try a bit of everything." She said, before giving Luz and smirk, "Guess I was inspired by a legendary Hexside student. Plus, I thought I'd bring my own brand of Human Appreciation."
Looking at Boscha, she rolled her eyes. She was there with Amity when Luz was in the human realm... you can only hear someone talk about how "Perfect Luz's eyes look when the sun shines" a few hundred times before it gets annoying.
"Oh, what about Hunter?"
If this was a movie, there would be an audible record scratch. Amity's teeth clenched and sweat rolled down her head.
"Geh!" Amity said, not expecting that.
Boscha put a hand over her mouth to try and cover her laughter.
"Pfft! Heheheh." Boscha chuckle quietly.
"He was supposed to finally enroll in Hexside this year, but I didn't hear back from him yet." Luz continued.
Amity looked away from Luz with one of those, 'Oh Titan, how do I say this' looks.
"Well, he DID get in, but..." Amity looked back at Luz, "So, you know how he has no natural magic besides the super speed her got from Flapjack?"
"Right..." Luz said.
"Aaaaand... you remember the stipulations for the entrance exam?"
"Yeah, but that shouldn't be an issue as long as he has glyph mag-" You could visually see the color drain from Luz's face, "...Oh no."
At Hexside, school was deep in session.
"Alright class, time to recite our runes." The spider teacher said.
On a rug, Hunter sat, surrounded by seven toddlers, all wearing the baby class uniform.
"Krom... Zix... Elgrim... Zenomide..." The class said, with Hunter being less than amused.
In Gravefield, Luz's face was frozen in her shock/horror face.
"..."
"It's not all bad though..." Amity said, "... He's still eligible to play Flyer Derby."
Boscha was laughing uncontrollably, her head on the table, fist pounding, and tears from her eyes from laughing so hard. She was laughing so much her head band actually fell off.
