A/n: I was taking some prompt requests on tumblr this week and this was written for "licking their lips".
It's just a short and sweet update, I enjoyed writing it and I hope you enjoy reading it as well!
Tale 33
- x -
Hilary tapped her foot impatiently at the sight in front of her. The clock at the bedside table showed that it was half past noon, at least an hour later than the time she had originally planned to meet up with the person who was currently still sprawled across the bed and snoring loudly. If the blaring alarm had not been loud enough to wake up Tyson, the sound of her foot hitting the wooden floor would not do much good either. Sighing loudly, she thought about how she could wake him up without causing too much of a ruckus. She would've preferred to just shake him rigorously but seeing that he'd gone to sleep shirtless, she found it a little embarrassing to lay her hands on him.
Flopping down at the edge of his bed, Hilary ran her eyes across his sleeping figure. His face looked calmer, devoid of all the mischief and pride that it usually held. His navy blue bangs were scattered across his forehead, a few strands falling on his thick lashes, the sight of which made Hilary want to reach a hand forward and brush them aside so they couldn't bother him when he awoke.
She shook her head and tore her eyes away from his face, feeling warmth rush into her cheeks as she strictly reminded herself that now was not the time to get lost admiring how Tyson looked most handsome when he was sleeping peacefully. If they didn't depart in the next hour, they'd never make it to the special antique flea market being held in a beach town not too far from where they lived. Usually, Hilary preferred to visit these things alone, since she could get a bit crazy while hunting for things she liked, but since Tyson had managed to get his driver's license before her, she couldn't help but rely on him for such things more often these days. She had thought about taking the train, but on the off chance she found something like an old cabinet or dresser, it would be easier to carry it back home in a car. Not that any of it mattered unless Tyson woke up in the next few minutes.
Hilary took a deep breath and cleared her throat, mustering up all her strength from her stomach, she shouted in her loudest voice possible.
"Tyson, wake up!"
He sat up at once, eyes still groggy with sleep but his body was fully alert at the sound of her voice. Slowly the remnants of a good sleep departed from his face and he opened his eyes fully, taking in the sight of her sitting on his bed with an angry pout and arms folded across her chest in a defensive stance. She'd always wanted to know what went on in Tyson's mind, but these days he had begun to take more liberties in crossing the line of friendliness with her when she least expected it and that really made her just want to pull apart his brain to poke at it from every angle. Even now, despite seeing that she was upset with him, he just passed her smirk as he leaned back against the headboard of his bed comfortably.
"Funny, I was just dreaming about you in my bed, though you looked a bit more pleased than that."
Hilary felt her cheeks burn under his playful gaze but she fought with her emotions to keep her angry expression intact. She couldn't allow Tyson to derail them any further, she had to make sure that they'd be out of the house and in the car in the next few minutes or she'd end up missing out on all the good stuff at the sale.
"Did you forget our plans for today?" She asked him, completely ignoring his cheeky comment.
"We had plans?" He looked genuinely confused, which made Hilary want to slap herself across the forehead but she resisted the urge.
"Don't you remember? I asked you to drive me to that flea market today!"
"You did?"
"Yes, last week when our holidays started."
Tyson narrowed his brows as he attempted to recall such a conversation making Hilary roll her eyes in exasperation.
"You could've reminded me yesterday, how am I supposed to remember stuff from last week when I can barely remember stuff from a day before." He shrugged casually, as if this explanation was enough to make her wait for an hour after which eventually she was forced to barge into his house.
"Well, I'm reminding you now. So please, get up and get ready, we're already late." Hilary gritted her teeth, she couldn't afford to start a fight right now, that she would reserve for the long car ride.
"Where's this flea market happening again?"
"Izu."
"No way. I am not driving all the way to Izu, take the train or the bus or something," he said, waving a hand at her as if to shoo her away.
"But you promised!" Hilary didn't like how whiny her voice sounded but she was beyond caring about her ego.
"And now I'm un-promising."
Hilary was a bit shocked by how Tyson didn't seem to care about her feelings but when she noticed him slowly sliding down back into a sleeping position, she realised she had to act fast or there would be no antiques shopping on her schedule today. She looked around the room hurriedly, trying to find something that would help her in convincing Tyson to drive her. All she could see was the usual mess of mangas scattered on his study table, some clothes strewn across the floor along with a bamboo sword leaning against the windows where the curtains were drawn.
Hilary did a double take towards the window and noticed that the curtains were drawn in a way that hid the outside view completely. Considering how Tyson had probably overslept, there was no way he knew what the weather was like today. A tiny plan hatched into her head and she fought off a triumphant smile as she began to put it into motion.
"Oh, I suppose I am asking for too much." Hilary sighed dramatically, earning Tyson's attention once again as he stopped his attempt to go back to sleep. "Izu is so far and you probably won't even enjoy the market."
"Yeah, exactly..." Tyson responded to her statement but he seemed to doubt his own words as he looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to offer an incentive for him to say yes.
"But you know I figured that the market is held on the beach, so in the end it might end up being fun for both of us."
"Wait, we're going to a beach in Izu?" Tyson didn't look fully convinced, after all, Hilary had told a blatant lie which is why she had to work quickly to distract his mind.
"Yes, the biggest one too," she said, shaking her head dejectedly. She looked up once to meet his confused eyes, and then tugged at the edge of the crop top she'd worn today, pouting her lips as she spoke in a low tone, "To think that I went as far as to buy a new bikini for today, even wore it under my clothes so I could change as soon as we got to the beach."
She watched from the corner of her eyes as Tyson sat up straight once again and looked her up and down. Even though she wasn't completely focusing on him, she could feel the desire radiate off of him as his hungry eyes stared at her figure. Hilary knew that her confidence in her plan might waver if she looked at him right now, but to nail the final piece into place, it was important she meet his eyes. Gathering every bit of courage she could muster, Hilary turned to face him, leaning forward as she tilted her head and gave him her best pleading smile, "Such a shame I won't be able to show it to you, isn't it?"
Tyson licked his lips as he stared at her, she could almost visualise the gears turning in his head as what she had suggested registered in his brain. She had to hold back her laugh when in the next minute, he jumped out of bed and ran to his closet, picking out clothes before rushing to the bathroom to get ready.
Hilary, satisfied by how her plan had worked out perfectly, left his room and went to wait outside at the entrance. It didn't take long for him to follow her out, his hair still sopping wet from the quick shower he must have taken. His eyes were bright with excitement as he hastily put on his shoes and grabbed his car keys, and just for a moment, Hilary felt bad for raising his hopes despite knowing what was waiting for them outside the house. She opened her mouth to tell Tyson the truth but then remembered how easily he had brushed off her request and decided against it, looking forward instead to seeing his reaction once they stepped outside.
With his shoelaces finally tied, Tyson sprang up and with a big grin on his face slid open the entrance door to be greeted with a torrent of rain.
His mouth fell open as he turned to look at Hilary in disbelief, but it was her turn to casually shrug and face him with a smirk.
"Oh, did I not mention? It's been raining all morning."
"But you said- beach... bikini..." Tyson stuttered as he looked at the weather outside and then back at her.
"Don't worry Tys, the market is happening safely indoors so of course I won't need to change into a bikini in this weather." She grinned at him, looping an arm around his as she picked up the umbrella she'd left outside the entrance earlier. Unfolding it quickly, she pulled Tyson under it and began to drag them towards the shed which served as the makeshift garage.
"But you're still wearing it right?" He cried out, grasping at the last straw of hope that would make him feel better.
Hilary just laughed in response, completely happy with how easily she'd managed to manipulate him. Lately, she'd been feeling that he always got the upper hand in arguments with his cheeky and flirty comments here and there, but today proved that she could turn the tables on him whenever she pleased as well.

A/n: Poor Tyson xD But don't worry, Hilary goes easy on him by giving him a kiss at the end of the day. Thank you for reading, reviews are always appreciated!
PS: Receiving a lot of good feedback for TyHil Love Countdown, look forward to the event in November (hopefully).
