"Ev? Evan?" Kelly asks and then he opens his eyes and they land on his gorgeous husband..

"Hi!" Evan chokes out…

"Where's Skylar ? Is she okay?" Kelly asks panicked about their 7 year old daughter.

"Kel, relax, she's in surgery. They had to do a lung transplant on her. She should be fine though." Evan explains to his husband as he's rubbing his thumb over Kelly's stubbled jawline. All the noise of the monitors and the voices wake Casey up.

"Hey man, good to see you up." Casey says, rubbing the sleep away from his eyes.

"Thanks, why did Sky need a lung transplant?" Kelly asks with tears in his eyes.

"She had too much smoke inhalation and her one lung was really bad so they needed to replace it." Evan explained.

"Damn it. I should have been faster, this is my fault. Maybe if I would've done CPR faster or-" Evan cuts Kelly off of the self blaming train, by saying "baby this is not your fault in the least. It just happened. She'll be okay. She has to be." Evan kisses his husband lovingly, Kelly returns the kiss.

"Thank you, I love you too. How's James and Nate?" Kelly asks

"James will be on a puffer for a while, he had to stay overnight for observation and Nate has a burn on his arm but it will heal. Carla took Nate home with her and Avery." Evan explained.

"Okay, we'll that's good that they will be okay." Kelly says, sighing and rubbing a hand over his face.

Just then Dr. Will Halstead comes into the room.

"Kelly, good to see you awake, how do you feel?" Will asks the lieutenant.

"Like a beam just fell on me." Kelly says sarcastically.

"Well at least your sense of humor is intacted." Will says checking the monitors, then checking Kelly's eyes with a light.

"How's your memory?" Will asks

"Good, I remember the fire, I remember I was carrying Sky out when the beam came down on me. I remember my husband and our four kids, I remember everything." Kelly says

"Good, that's good, well I think your going to make a full recovery but your off work tell thanksgiving though." Will explained and all three firefighters sigh knowing how that'll affect Kelly.

"Okay, doc. Thanks for everything." Kelly says shaking Wills hand.

"How long do I have to stay here though?" Kelly asks as Will is writing stuff down on his chart.

"I'd say with your progress you can leave later today." The doctor tells him.

"Okay thanks doc." The lieutenant says, then Will goes to head out of the room when Evan asks "have you heard anything about Sky yet?"

Will smiles at the younger lieutenant and nods as he says. "Yes, she's doing well in surgery. It should be another hour or so."

"Thanks Will." Evan says as Halstead takes his leave.

Once Will leaves Casey says "well I'll go call boden and let him know you're awake and how long you are going to be out for, and give you two a minute." Kelly and Evan nod, then the younger one says "thanks Matt for everything."

Casey nods, saying "No problem your all family." Then leaves.

Evan can't help the tears that surface, Kelly notices and asks "what's wrong Babe?" Taking Evan's hand.

" I was so scared I was going to lose you and Sky and Skys still not out of the woods yet." Evan explained.

Kelly sighs rubbing his hand with IV in it over his face as he says "I know yesterday was terrifying. All we can do now is hope and pray Sky is going to be fine."

Evan nods.

Just as Carla knocks on the door.

"Hey Buckeroo, Kelly it's good to see you up." The older woman says hugging Evan and patting Kelly's non IV hand.

"Thanks Carla it's good to be awake." Kelly says, smiling at the older lady.

"So I bought bagels and coffee. That garbage that you get in hospitals is just that garbage." Carla says handing Kelly and Evan each a bagel and coffee from their favorite care by their house.

"Thanks Carla, you didn't have to do that." Kelly says taking a bit of his bagel.

"I know that, but we are family." Carla states matter of factly.

Kelly just smiles at Carla.

"So Nate is in the waiting room with Casey, he wants to see you." Carla says looking between the two fathers.

"Text Casey and let him know to bring Nate in." Kelly says.

Evan nods and pulls out his phone.

Evan: Kelly wants you to bring Nate in.

Meanwhile in the waiting room:

"How's pops?" Nate asks Casey all of a sudden looking up from his tablet, his fathers have been debating on getting him a phone but haven't decided yet.

"He's okay, the doctor says he can go home later today." Casey explains looking up from his phone and pocketing the device.

"How bad are his injuries?" Nate asks acting way older than 12..

"Well he will be off work tell thanksgiving but he does have a bandage around his head where they did the surgery for the brain bleed." Nate sobs at that, Casey sighs and hugs the young man close to him.

"Hey bud, it's going to be okay." Casey says hugging the boy closer to his chest.

"How do you know that?" Nate sobs into Casey's chest.

Matt sighs then decides to be honest with the young boy. "Well for one your pops is one of the strongest and bravest men I know and he's overcome a lot in his life, also I had the same thing your pops did wrong with his head about 10/12 years ago." Nate looks up into his Uncle's eyes at that, then asks "Really?"

Casey nods then says "Yep, I had a beam fall on me during a call and had what's called a TBI which stands for traumatic brain injury." Casey pauses for a second thinking about that time is his life, then continues.

"I overcame it, and I was still able to be a firefighter, your pops will too. I know you have had more loss in your lifetime than someone your age should have to deal with but you Pops and dad are strong and they will always fight to come back to you and your siblings."

"Thanks Uncle Matt." Nate says hugging the older man again.

Just then Casey's phone dings with the text from Evan.

Casey smiles then looks at Nate as he asks "wanna go see your pops?" Nate nods, Saying "yes!" They head to Kelly's room and they knock.

They hear Evan and Kelly both say come in.

Casey walks in front of Nate, saying "There's someone that wants to see you Kelly." Then Nate rushes to his pops and hugs him gently.

Nate starts sobbing into Kelly's chest, making Kelly's heart breaks for his son.

"Hey it's okay bud, I'm okay." Kelly says rubbing Nate's back soothingly.

"I was so scared." Nate sobs.

Buck all of a sudden asks "where's Avery?"

Carla smiles then says, "Eddie and Stella have her this morning, hope that's okay."

Evan smiles, nods then says "yes that's fine." Knowing his best friend will take good care of his daughter..

"You're going to be okay right pops?" Nate asks, sniffling.

"Yes bud I am."

Nate nods and they talk about school, and Halloween, the morning goes by fast then the next thing they know, dr manning is coming into the room to give them an update on Sky.
