Chapter 16: Sweet Dreams

"Goodnight," the kids all said as they filed out the back door.

Tony securely closed it behind them and turned the lock before turning to face Angela who was leaning back against the counter next to the swinging door to the living room.

"What a night," Angela said smiling at her husband. "I never imagined we'd end up telling the kids so much or that we'd do so much of it in one night!"

"I know," Tony said shaking his head. "I never really thought of how those first eight years must have looked and felt to Sam and Jonathan because I was so wrapped up in hiding my feelings for a certain blond, beautiful, sophisticated and smart career woman."

"Tony," Angela breathed as she walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck while leaning in for a passionate kiss.

"Come here," Tony said grabbing her hand and leading her back into the living room where the kids had set up the air mattress complete with bedding. The fire had been stoked bathing the room in a warm golden light.

Before Angela knew what was happening, Tony was again kissing her but in the way she knew so well that meant he had other things in mind for tonight. He slowly kissed his way down her jaw to her throat while his hands made their way under the white short sleeve silk blouse she was wearing and started sliding up her rib cage.

"Tony?" Angela asked softly. "Here, now? What about the kids?"

"They're not coming back over tonight. Why do you think they gave us the house and all agreed to stay at Mona's?" he said pulling back slightly to give Angela a little wink.

"Oh my. Do you really think so?" Angela asked with a giggle. "I mean after some of what was discussed tonight I guess it makes sense. And, I can't say that reliving some of those memories didn't make me want to do more than give you a little peck on the lips or squeeze your hand earlier."

"Same here," Tony growled as he pulled Angela's shirt over her head and then made quick work of the grey slacks she was wearing followed by her bra and panties. In return, Angela wasted no time pulling Tony's dark grey short sleeve cotton shirt over his head before running her hands all over his chest and arms, relishing that even at 70 years old, he still drove her crazy. She then moved on to his jeans and once she had the button and zipper undone, Tony pulled them and his boxers off quickly.

They sank down on the air mattress, and Tony immediately started placing kisses all over Angela's throat and shoulders before moving on to her breasts. He marveled at how beautiful her body still was; age really was just a number sometimes. In the meantime, Angela's hands roamed all over his body, squeezing and stroking until she felt him grow hard. She too was in awe that even in their early 70s, they wanted each other as much as they had during those first eight years of their relationship.

Losing herself to Tony's kisses and touches, she felt him slip into her, and soon they were moving together; a familiar rhythm but one that still pulsated with passion. In the back of both of their minds, especially after the conversation from tonight, was the memory of how long it had taken them to get to this point, and for that reason, their lovemaking always seemed to take on a special significance.

"Oh Tony," Angela said laying her head against Tony's chest as her breathing calmed back down. "I can't imagine how my life would have turned out if you had never rang my doorbell that first morning. We've had such a wonderful life together."

"Sweetheart, I can't imagine it any other way either. If I hadn't randomly run into Mona…" Tony said unable to finish his thought. "As much as the kids want us to relive those first few years, I've loved the life we've shared since we finally admitted how we felt. Although, I wish I would have found a better way to finally tell you than sitting in a swan boat on a cheesy carnival ride!"

"We really are so lucky," Angela said as she stroked his chest. "And to be given the gift of our own child when we both thought that wasn't going to be possible is just icing on the cake. I loved raising Katie as well as Samantha and Jonathan with you. They couldn't have a better father."

"Same here. Katie was an amazing surprise and to see how they've all turned out is a testament to what a wonderful mother they have," Tony said leaning down to peck Angela on the lips. "What a ride it's been."

"I'm also so glad that we're in a position to help Sam and the kids. Having them so close by to breathe life back into this house is just what we all need after the last couple of years," Angela said softly wiping a tear from her eye.

"I know, baby," Tony said as he pulled her closer. "It's been rough, but we're a family and families stick together, right?"

"I love you, Tony," Angela whispered as she drifted off to sleep.

As he kissed Angela's forehead, Tony pulled the sheet a little tighter around them.

"I love you too, Angela," he said as he closed his eyes thinking about everything that had happened in his life to lead him to this place. Much of it had been painful, but there had been a lot of joy as well, and knowing his little girl and his grandchildren were finally home made him excited for the next chapter…
