Chapter 4: A Young Girl's Name

Tanya Yamada, Hero Student, 1-A Seat # 6

A tie.

Looking back, it makes sense.

The number one Heros son obviously would have a few people in class that knew of his status. They decided to give him more experience by being in the lead and hoping to get in his good graces by supporting his development.

I was voted for because I showed my leadership capacity by keeping everyone calm and organized. Really I only have myself to blame for this.

And it's not like I can just back down now, as that would put a target on my back. Spitting in the face of everyone who voted for me and saying their opinions are invalid.

Oh well. Let's ensure they don't regret their choice until the sports festival. When they replace me, at least they can only blame the teachers for not training me enough to stay in class!

After being congratulated by a few in the class, the day passed as expected.

I told Midoriya to talk to me at lunch to go over our responsibilities and hash out any details we needed. Which is why I am sitting across from him and his sycophants. My friends were slower than usual today leaving the room, so they were still in line when I sat down.

Midoriya was deep in thought, so I didn't want to disturb him and just ate my meal silently.

The peace was broken when Uraraka said, "It's always so crowded in here! How are we expected to find anywhere to eat in peace."

Tenya pointed out from the other side of Midoriya, "That's because students in the support, management, and hero courses all share the same cafeteria…"

That reminds me that I will have to see how Sando is doing in class later. I have yet to talk with her since we made it into U.A. I'll have to meet with her to share our experiences; she can tell me about her studies and better prepare me for the move out of the hero course.

Midoriya finally got out of his thoughts, his focus gathering the attention of myself and the others. "Guys, I'm kinda worried about the class rep thing, I don't think I'm qualified."

Ah, humility. While suitable for the press, that could be used against him by people who want to control him. All Might needs to force his son to take pride in his power.

"Sure you are. You'll be great!" Uraraka spoke up from beside him. The round-faced girl put a lot of faith in him. She must know he's All Might's Son. While he doesn't look like his father, his evident admiration for the man could only go one of two ways. Either admiring Son or Crazed Fanboy.

With the table now looking at her, she continued, "Your heroic nature and strength- You saved me back at the entrance exam when you punched out that zero pointer!" She was miming a punch, "You went, Kapow! How could I not vote for my Hero!" She noticed his quirk similarity and innate heroic nature. Heroism and self-sacrifice must travel deep in the family tree.

Not one to be outdone in Midoriya's praise, Ida was nodding sagely on his other side, "Like a true hero, you noticed the true meaning behind the entrance exam before I did. I also couldn't help but vote for you." Ida didn't know that being willing to save others was part of the test? One could only hope that he turns his views around. Nothing is worse than a hero who only cares for himself.

Oh? "Oh so you knew about the Hero points before taking the test?"

Expected with someone high profile like All Might. This Nepotism is starting to be grating…

"No, no nono-" Midoriya started talking really fast, and I could barely keep up with what he was saying, and only because I practiced various faster songs on karaoke nights, "I didn't know about the extra test, honest. I was just lucky, cause without it, I would not have gotten any points in the exam because my quirk caused me to break both my legs and arm, and I can't really controlit, I'mtryinghard-" The boy is going to need classes on enunciating his words. I'm sure there is a public speaking unit we take to learn how to communicate with the public. With how fast his mouth rolls, I'm sure the press will have a field day twisting what he says to make a fool of him.

"Youseemytrainingonlyreallygotmeso-" I lost him as he started talking even faster. I looked over at Uraraka, who began to sway, confused, and Ida, who looked a second away from karate, chopped the boy.

Before I could interrupt Midoriya's no doubt insightful mumbling, a loud alarm shrilled out from the speakers quieting the whole cafeteria.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked around. The alarm was a looping blare that was strong enough to faint and back again; it vaguely reminded me of an air raid siren and triggered something within me to start packing to head out against enemy forces.

A few other students started to get similar ideas and pack up to get ready. Those must have been the older students, as I saw one student start packing her lunch.

The alarm finished to dead silence, everyone looking to the speakers. And a progressive voice carried over the speaker. It was vaguely squeaky but with a commanding presence." There has been a Level Three security breach. All students, please evacuate to the parade field."

All order was now tossed out the window. The students started running in all directions. Students began screaming. There was pushing and shoving in a free for all, save yourself and fuck everyone else. Ida and Uraraka shot to their feet and asked, "What!?"

A few students ran past the table. One of the students screamed, "Get out of here. It's a Bomb!" Then like a switch was flipped, everyone in the room was standing and running- knocking others over and like a stampede bottlenecking themselves at the door And just like screaming fire in a crowded theater, everyone was rushing for the same exit. People were being pushed to the ground. I watched as one person punched someone else out of their way. This was a catastrophe in the making, nothing like a refined institution like this should deal with.

Reflexively I looked around- boxes, bags, metal containers- there were numerous areas where the bomb could be. We needed to get out of here as quickly as possible, and there was only the central doorway… We need to make another exit.

I grabbed Midoriya's collar and prevented him from standing up and getting swept away by the crowd like Uraraka and Ida no doubt disappeared into, "Wha-" "We need to make a bigger exit!"

Honestly, his and Bakugos quirk are the only ones I know that could make a big enough hole for everyone quickly enough. If he tripped and got knocked out, there is no telling how long it would take to get out, "You need to break open the wall!"

Midoriya stopped struggling for a moment before he nodded. Once there was an opening of people rushing, I let go and pointed to the wall that led outside. He stood and pushed people out of the way towards the wall. While he did that, I stood up on the table and tried to look over the mass of bodies to see where our classmates were.

The mixed mash of everyone's hair colors annoyed me- why couldn't this life be some anime with only the main characters having unique hair colors.

Narrowing my eyes, I looked for my classmates' frequencies.

Sadly, I could hardly recognize anyone; the number of vibrations was almost blinding around me. The only sound I could make out was the unique multi-frequency of All Might junior making his way through the waves of students.

However, his hesitancy to push people out of the way was making him slow.

I growled; who knows how long we have.

Taking a deep breath and channeling the voice of the pro, what does he always say?

"Never Fear Students! For I am Here!"

Like a whip crack, everyone turned towards me, no longer moving- even Midor-

"Midoriya do it! Now!"

A second later- green lightning shot up from the crowd, followed by a rush of wind.

"Smash!"

How did it come to this?

After the crowd of students rushed out into the field, we were quickly accosted by the teachers of various classes. Role calls were made- only one of our own missing for a few minutes before the teachers found Ayoyama hiding in the bathroom, apparently having not heard the second part of the announcement and locking himself in a stall.

Then we were dragged away by an exasperated Lunch Rush. A level three alarm is, in fact, not a bomb. It is for trespassers on campus. Which were reporters and a false alarm. What all that means is that we broke school property for no reason.

So we were brought to the Principal's office.

This is not how I wanted to meet the enigmatic 'Beast of Education.' I can't spin what happened to be Midoriya's fault, as I clearly am the one that made the plan, having shouted at him to do the deed.

Not that I could throw him under the bus regardless, as he is the son of All Might, and naturally, he is above such petty reasons to be kicked out of this school. I doubt anything short of murder would get him removed, honestly. And that would only be if it was in a public area.

I clenched my jaw thinking of what to do as Midoriya fidgeted next to me with his arm in a sling. Sadly before I could devise some plan to spin this situation in my favor, the speaker nearby turned on, "You can enter now." The speaker next to us spoke. Standing up and smoothing my blouse, I walked to the door and entered The Principal's domain.

Midoriya followed behind, mimicking my bow and closing the door behind us.

I glanced around the well-maintained office that betrayed nothing about the owner's unique body type and features. As if it was built and housed a human despite the owner being anything but. Across the room, sitting in an oversized plush chair, was The Principal, some sort of quirked white mouse-dog?

I just blinked at him for a second before moving to his desk, Midoriya's slower pace speeding up to stand beside me.

He pulled out a tea set from below his desk, somehow balancing the three cups on the tray, "Take a seat you two! Tea?" He commanded while offering.

"N-no thank you." "I wouldn't mind one." Midoriya and I replied while taking our offered seats.

While he poured the tea, I looked closer at the man and his desk.

Circular black eyes, a large scar over the right one. Hero work? He had relatively rectangular-shaped ears with pale pink insides slanting outwards from the top of his head and an elongated muzzle with a small round nose.

His fur is bright white, well groomed, just like his pressed suit and tie. He obviously takes care of his appearance to appear as welcoming as possible.

His desk appears organized, with a thin computer monitor facing him and only two framed pictures facing down currently. Privacy or…

"So what made you two think blowing up the cafeteria wall was the best idea?" The animal-like man asked. I looked down at the offered teacup and raised it to my lips while thinking.

I could use this, maybe- try to push the blame on Midoriya slightly and get the tables turned on-

"It was my fault." I twitched as Midoriya spoke. "I'm the one that-" This is my chance!

I put the teacup down quickly and interrupted the brat, "No. We were told that the alarm was for a bomb. I noticed that everyone was being funneled into a-" "but-"

Honestly.

"Shut Up. A small hallway. I told Midoriya to punch out the wall so people could get out as soon as possible rather than be funneled into a small doorway." I kept eye contact with The Principal while ensuring Midoriya wasn't about to jump back in.

Thankfully, Midoriya was suitably chastised, fidgeting in his chair as I looked across the desk toward the teacher. The Principal's eyes were twinkling as he poured tea into his mouth. A few moments passed as he was thinking. Thankfully I am used to being scrutinized, or else I might have started fidgeting like Midoriya was under the Principal's black eyes.

When the man finally sat down his tea, he chuckled, "Hypothetically, if there was a bomb, did you think about what would have happened if the package was damaged?"

A test? "There were no packages beyond the wall, and nothing would have been harmed by debris as the courtyard was clear. Midoriya's excessive strength wouldn't let anything fall into the room."

He hummed, "What about if it was sound activated?" "That's a trick question. The alarm would have set it off, if not all the screaming students."

"Motion sensor?" "Stampeding students pushing and shaking everyone would have set it off."

"Remote activated?" "Our escape was the quickest way out and no instructions or demands were given to us."

At least the grin on the man's face gave me the impression that I was answering his questions correctly.

Midoriya was fidgeting, facing us as I answered the man's questions.

"Well given the circumstances and the damages done my hands are tied." He solemnly said, pouring himself another glass of tea.

I nodded, expecting as much, "All I ask is that you let me continue my education he-" "Oh don't misunderstand I'm not expelling you. The damage to the cafeteria is extensive, but not nearly enough for me to think expulsion is necessary." I smiled brightly at that. Honestly, the amount of funding is insane for the school, but this is all in my favor. I might be tearing up a little at how this all "You and Midoriya will stay late and assist Cement Toss in painting the outside of the wall. Your points of contact have already been alerted."

I'm not being kicked from the hero course?

Midoriya sighed in relief beside me. The Principal's mouth shaped into what looked like a smug grin,

I couldn't help but ask, "Why did you bring us here if that was all you wanted?" Midoriya froze and looked at me like I was crazy while The Principal's grin widened, "I just wanted to confirm something for myself. Now hurry back to class- you wouldn't want to miss today's lesson with All Might, would you?"

Just like that, we were dismissed. It took a moment for me to stand up, confused for a moment, before I realized something.

He wanted to meet Midoriya. All Might Jr.

With a bow, I turned and followed behind the taller boy.

How well off financially is U.A. that they can overlook a wall being destroyed with barely a slap on the wrist? That answer was All Might.

That is Nepotism at its worst.

I couldn't help the sigh as we rushed back to class.

Getting back to the class was surprisingly quick. The hallways were empty, so a little liberal use of my quirk could be forgiven.

Opening the door once again revealed the prestigious image of the Number one hero. Thankfully we didn't interrupt a speech, as he looked to have been waiting for us to begin his class.

"Ah, welcome back Midoriya! Yamada! Come in, have a seat!"

Rushing inside to my desk was done with little fanfare. As soon as we were both seated, All Might continued with whatever lesson he was giving-

"You missed my hero entrance. But there will be plenty of that in the future!"

Hopefully, posting and entrances will be graded soon. Then, I need to start failing this class.

"Today's training is a little bit of a pop quiz of sorts!"

Sounds of shocks echoed slightly around the room. A nasal voice- Mineta- called out, "What!"

"You will be picking your hero code name! And trying on your-" a remote appeared in his hand at a flick of his wrist- how did he do that with short sleeves?- "Hero costumes!~"

The nearby wall flipped over, revealing rows of briefcases labeled with numbers- our student numbers?

"How did they-"

All Might continued, unaware of the shock most students expressed, "Haha~ Normally the costume designers take a week or so going over the designs- however, someone may have let slip of my involvement, so they rushed everything."

He took a bow and said, "I ask you to forgive me, if there are any errors in the costume due to its rush order, do not hesitate to alert a teacher and we will have them fix it."

Standing back up, he waved towards the briefcases, "So class president! Organize everyone to get their gear!"

I looked over to Midoriya, who snapped his head to me.

A few seconds passed. I could feel the eyes of the room judging me and Midoriya.

I narrowed my eyes, and he shot out of his seat, "A-a-All right, everyone-" his voice trailed off as he turned to look at every one. He turned around to look at his father, and I yelled in his voice, "Stand up and line up single file."

All Might blinked at his son and turned towards me, but I was already standing in line.

There's no reason to rock the boat; if All Might wants to use Nepotism to have Midoriya stay in school, I'll do my best to at least try to make the boy look good until I'm in management.

All Might better thank me for this later.

Maybe with a job at his agency? I'm sure his staff are paid astronomically well.

The gathering of our briefcases was short and straightforward, lining up, grabbing them, and returning to our seats.

After we were all seated again, All Might started his lecture on hero names.

"And now to the most important part of today's lesson! Your Hero Names!"

All Might spoke while making sharp movements. His muscles flexed visibly under his suit and tie as he wrote various names and titles on the board.

"Do not fear! Whatever names you give to me today are not necessarily meant to be your permanent alias, Pro Heroes are often known by the name they give first to the public. We will cover first appearances later however."

He moved to write things next to the various names he was writing. Phrases and concepts like, 'good with kids' / 'fun at parties' / 'lots of fire.'

"Now a common misconception is that a Hero Name needs to be original. That is just not true. Some people may choose to use the same name, or a very similar name, as an already existing and well-known Hero that is no longer active."

He wrote two names and drew arrows between them, Daylegs and Nightplane.

"However, this comes with the responsibility and pressure of living up to the level of greatness displayed by the Hero who originally used the name."

He flourished a question mark around the two. "Failure in that regard carries a heavy burden on both yourself and the hero you were attempting to honor."

He leveled a heavy stare across the room, his smile more…. Strained.

Before he seemed to brighten up again and place his hands on his hips again, "Now the typical scheme of a Hero Name is your name followed by your title. Or vis versa. Such as 'Edgeshot: The Ninja Hero' or the 'Normal Hero: Manual'. Typically like a Hero Name, the Heroes title describes the Hero and what they can do. Which helps cement their image in the public and assist in team ups between agencies."

He gave a hearty laugh before raising his left hand towards the class, "Now I'm sure some of you have thought long and hard about what Heroes you want to be, so go ahead and introduce yourselves! Tell me, YOU ARE HERE!"

I watched as a few of my more enthusiastic classmates announced their hero names one by one, each trying to be heard over the other. Some were serious, like Kirishima's "The Crimson Hero: Red Riot," while others were more lighthearted, like Toru's "The Sunshine Hero: Invisafist."

Some were… just bad. Bakugous' "King of Explosion Murder." All Might laughed at the enthusiasm and gave his opinions on each name- his smile brightening with each student he responded to. I found myself nodding along, even though I had no intention of being a hero, getting tips on signaling theory and how presenting yourself to employers was helpful.

After the initial cacophony died down before the more shy students could jump in, All Might interjected and had the class form groups and discuss ideas amongst each other to create names or help one another brainstorm.

Naturally, the room split with all the girls huddling together and the boys forming small friend groups.

Yaoyorozu took over quickly, organizing everyone to write down some ideas they wanted for these names on whiteboards she created, with the idea that we would take turns and help each other pick out names or titles in the form of a group think tank…

As I was tapping my marker on the whiteboard in thought, Kyoka leaned over to me and whispered, "What are you going to pick for your hero name?"

I couldn't help but shrug, inwardly glad she wasn't questioning yesterday, "I don't know. I never really thought of a hero name." I expect to use a fake name for a short time anyway.

Honestly, before All Might's explanation about marketing and public personas, I never thought a hero's name was needed.

One might think of secret identities and protecting your family, but that only applies to vigilantes. The idea of secret identities fell out of style with the more widespread use of the quirk registry, as such a thing became unnecessary.

For the publicity-loving heroes, they fight weaker villains who don't think or can't even attempt to target a hero's family; they are thieves and thugs who are just looking to gain money fast or out of need.

Then we get to the serious organized criminals like the Yakuza. They only survive by staying out of the spotlight so they don't get their organizations crushed by heroes. If they went after a hero's family, there would need to be a definitive advantage to be gained beyond just hurting their nemesis because they will make themselves a target for that Hero, along with all their friends, who, surprise. Surprise. They are also heroes. What's there to gain from such a thing other than a massive target on your operation?

No. Only the truly deranged and mentally unstable individual will target a Heroes family. So secret identities are practically worthless.

The frown of such thoughts must have shown on my face because another jab from Kyoka dragged my attention to her face looking at me with concern. "Are you okay? You seem really down today."

I forced a smile. "I'm fine. Just thinking about some stuff, that's all."

I ignored the flash of annoyance on Kyoka's face and turned back to my black whiteboard.

I wrote some phrases dealing with sounds. Echoing Hero, Mimicry Hero, Pop Hero… Whatever I could think of involving music or sounds, I wrote and just slapped hero after it.

While I might have seemed enthusiastic to others around me, my whiteboard was almost filled with black or random hero names. Inside I felt the fires of… anger? Embarrassment? Both? I didn't want to be a hero. I didn't want to be here at all. But Being X has put me in this situation, and I have no choice but to play along.

I'm just making the best of this situation.

After I ran out of the room, I looked over at the other girls, who were all in various states of biting their lips in thought or whispering to one another.

Next to Yaoyorozu, a small egg was clicking incessantly, a small alarm clock she made to make sure we didn't waste too much time in isolation and to start our group discussions.

Looking around the room, I noticed that while the girls had all formed a single group, the boys were somewhat scattered. Midoriya sat next to Ida and Mineta. The bird-headed boy was talking with his quirk.

And some of the boys decided they didn't need help and stayed alone. Like Bakugo, sitting arms crossed and smug.

When the egg started vibrating, Yaoyorozu clicked the head, and it fell silent. The girls looked at one another for a moment before Yaoyorozu raised the whiteboard, sighing, "Coming up with a name was harder than I thought it would be, so I'm not really happy with it. I considered going with 'Produce Hero Creati,' but it doesn't quite roll off the tongue."

With a hum, Kyoka chimed in, "I like the 'Creati' part, but we could come up with something more catchy.

Asui 'Call me Tsu' Tsuyu nodded in agreement. "Yeah, like 'The Invention Hero: Creati' or something like that."

The girls spent the next few minutes brainstorming different ideas, each bouncing off the last. Some of the names could have been better like. "What about 'Innovate Belle' for Momo?" Yaoyorozu's groans had the others struggling for names.

Others were fun-like. "Or 'Frog Princess' for Tsuyu?" The girl ribbited while tapping her wide mouth, "I already have my name, 'the Rainy Season Hero: Froppy.'"

While the others cheered the cute name. I couldn't help but chime in, "Why not change the title to something like, 'The Leaping Hero'..." I trailed off as the girls looked at me.

Feeling put on the spot, I coughed. Thankfully Asui chimed in, "Maybe 'the Hopping Hero: Froppy?' Thanks, Yamada-chan."

The heat in my cheeks died down as the girl's got right back to talking amongst each other.

However, most were excited at the ideas, like, "Mina, what about 'Acid Queen'?" Ashido grinned. "Ooh, I like that! But maybe we could tweak it a bit, like 'Acid-Pop Quee- no Princess?"

Kyoka jumped in. "What about 'Toxic Tempest'? That has a nice ring to it."

Mina grinned. "I like that! It's a little more unique. 'The Toxic Tempest: Acid-Pop Princess'." She waved her hands above her head as she spoke her new title.

Kyoka smiled, pleased. "Glad I could help."

The girls continued to throw out ideas, each trying to help the others find the perfect Hero Name; eventually, I was put on the spot.

"So what's your name going to be Tanya?"

I looked down at my whiteboard and turned it around…

"... I have no idea." I'm self-aware enough to realize I do not have a creative bone in my body. Arts and crafts have never been my strong suit. And this life's affinity for singing hasn't changed that much. I can sing a duet, but I can't write a song.

The girl's eyes seemed to read over some of my scribbles and call out some names, "Sonic Siren!" "Melody Marvel?" "Canary!" "Echo Empress?"

I let the experts discuss amongst themselves, watching the girls debate amongst one another. I'll go with whatever vaguely sounds alright- it's not like I'll use this name after graduation.

All Might was standing at his podium, looking over at the class, his ears twitching. How good must his hearing be? He seemed focused on the Midoroyas group, which made sense.

Tsuyu called out to me, drawing my attention to her blank face that was turned towards my whiteboard, her eyes roaming over the long list of names. "Where did some of these names come from?"

Well, I can't tell the truth.

"A long time ago the group I was a part of…"

"Your friends?"

"It was more like a … Scout group."

We did a lot of scouting…

"Oh girl scouts?"

"Kind of…. Anyway they always called me Pixie and I hated it." I said softly, "I wrote some other nicknames down."

"Well if you hated it that's not a very good hero name. Did you have a name you actually liked?" Asui said, tilting her head.

Going by the list of names in my last life… "I liked Argent. It means Silver. The brightest Silver."

"Ah, because you're a Gaijin," Uraraka said bluntly as if she just solved a puzzle. Some of the other girls whipped their heads in her direction.

"People still call others that in this day and age. Really?" Kyoka glared at Uraraka, and the other girls were now looking at her.

I'm confused. Is Japan not as xenophobic as it once was?

"What? She is a foreigner, right? She has the whole…" She waved her hand up and down at me. "Aesthetic. Blonde hair, blue eyes… She looks western."

Or is this more of a Unified States thing where only select parts still hold xenophobic views?

Ashido scoffed, "And I look like my mom fornicated with a Pink Crayon. We live in the twenty-fourth century. I saw someone walk into school today whose head looks like a manga speech bubble."

I don't really care.

Uraraka's face was flushing red, realizing that she had stepped on some kind of social landmine, so in the interest of salvaging whatever friendship we had, I spoke up, "Well, I wouldn't know about that. I grew up at the 'Nagant's Children's Home,' an orphanage."

The blank look I received from Uraraka and the glares she received almost had me chuckle, "It's fine. I don't know who my parents are, but I was raised here in Japan. Now talking about my hero name…."

Uraraka, eager to move on, spoke first, "Well your quirk is your voice right? So like what about The Voice hero?"

Not one to be silent, Toru waved her arms, "You like mimicking people, so why not Echo!"

Well, I do enjoy-

"Oh how about The Argent Hero: Echo." Yaoyorozu's voice chimed in.

Ashido piped in, "The Argent Voice! Echo."

The girls unanimously agreed; I nodded, and that was that.

A few minutes later and everyone had their turn in the spotlight.

"Thanks, everyone," Uraraka said, smiling. "I couldn't have done it without you guys."

Tsuyu nodded. "Yeah, it's always better when we help each other out."

With that, the girls hugged and high-fived each other, excited as All Might called everyone back to their seats.

When everyone was seated, All Might have everyone present their names once again. This time in the sequence of class seats.

I wrote each student's hero name as they announced them.

Yuga Aoyama, Navel Laser, Shining Hero: Can't Stop Twinkling

All Might tried to have him shorten it, but it's at least not the poem that he wanted it to be at the start… All Might asked him to see him after class to talk about the name.

Mina Ashido, Acid, The Toxic Tempest: Acid-Pop Princess

Ashido was excited about the name the girls came up with, though I won't be surprised if she tries to change Princess for Queen before we graduate.

Tsuyu Asui, Frog, The Hopping Hero: Froppy

I'm glad she took my suggestion, her first one was alright, but it implied that she is only a hero during a particular time of year…

Tenya Ida, Engine, The Speedster Hero: Tengenium

Incorporating his family's title while keeping it unique, there is only a little to discuss there other than he is part of Midoriya's sycophants.

Ochako Uraraka, Zero Gravity, The Weightless Wonder: Uravity

Despite her somewhat xenophobic views, she seems like an alright girl. A little airheaded, but that might just be because of some minor quirk mania? Regardless, she is also part of Midoriya's sycophants, so I must be on her good side.

Own hero name I didn't have to write down.

Denki Kaminari, Electrification, Stun Gun Hero: Chargebolt

With a name like Stun Gun, does he expect to use a taser full-time? It might be rather hard to justify that in Japan's highly gun-controlled state.

Eijiro Kirishima, Hardening, Sturdy Hero: Red Riot

I would have to look up who Red Riot is because All Might asked him if he was manly enough to carry that legacy.

Koji Koda, Anivoice, Petting Hero: Anima

A rather odd name for a quiet boy… I honestly forgot he was in the room with how little presence he gives off. That didn't stop All Might asking him to see him after class.

Rikido Sato, Sugar Rush, Sweets Hero: Sugarman

Sounds like the name of a candy store. I would like to know if he or his family sells Chocolate. Though All Might added him to the group to see him after class.

Mezo Shoji, Dupli-Arms, Tentacle Hero: Tentacole

Sounds like some sort of Pocket Ball monster… but I never really spent time playing those games.

Kyoka Jiro, Earphone Jack, The Sonic Heroine: Earphone Jack

My friend, I haven't really seen all her quirk can do. Can she send out sonic waves?

Hanta Sero, Tape, Taping Hero: Cellophane

The Taping Hero: Plastic. How creative. Make sure he is on my team for class projects; I need to get easy failures.

Fumikage Tokoyami, Dark Shadow, Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi

The duo's comedy routine could use some work- Tokoyami's Dark Shadow arguing about how the title should be Sunshine Hero.

Shoto Todoroki, Half-Cold Half-Hot, Shoto Todoroki

As the son of the number two Hero, trying to start his own brand would be rather challenging; he should at least try to be his own person…

Well, there are leaders, and there are followers. At least he embraces that he can't escape his father's shadow. All Might asked him to join the group after class.

Toru Hagakure, Invisibility, The Center of Attention: Invisifist

Her title and name suit her… I'm curious what her hero costume will look like with a name like that.

Katsuki Bakugo, Explosion, Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight

I couldn't tell if he was serious or not. And neither could All Might. Once he learned that Katsuki was severe, he told him in no uncertain terms to change it, and he will join the others after class. The blank face Bakugo had while wiping away everything before Dynamight was…

I don't laugh at children!

Izuku Midoriya, Superpower, Deku

This was the first name that actually had more than a little bit of discourse with its announcement that I disagreed with.

Everyone was muttering about his name. I couldn't have that, and even All Might looked confused and concerned; maybe the name wasn't what they discussed at home? All Might Junior or Small Might, perhaps?

The only one who seemed pleased with the name was the Explosive pomeranian in the front; despite his attitude, they seemed familiar with one another...

Time to curry some more favor with All Might…

I stood up and glared around the room, which quieted down, "Deku is an amazing name. Deku the Hopeful Hero. Just imagine yourself hopeless and you can't help yourself. When all is lost There. He. Is!"

If I slipped into an All Might impression at the end, that only emphasized the point.

Uraraka stood up as well. "I think that name fits perfectly. I was trapped and thought the zero pointer would end not only my future career but my life. When there he was flying in to save me. Deku is not you; you're not the Deku I was. So you Stand for that moment."

"When you feel useless when you are the Deku. Deku will come and he will save you as the symbol of hope."

It's not like his name is Dekiru for "plain doll." It's Deku for "you can do it."

With that said, and a minor change to the whiteboard. The Symbol of Hope: Deku. The class continued to announce their names.

Minoru Mineta, Pop Off, Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice

I'm not sure what he means by Fresh-Picked, but the grapes must be those glue balls on his head…

Do they make juice if squashed?

Momo Yaoyorozu, Creation, The Arsenal Hero: Creati

The girl proudly announced her name though I still thought about the possibility of draining Mineta's balls.

"With that said! It is time for the second half of today's class! Everyone meet at the Training Ground Beta!" All Might, in a show of power and an effort to push the urgency of his request, rushed out and away with the force of his movement, pushing the air around the room.

I stood up after grabbing my briefcase and called out to the room using Midoriya's voice, "Boys follow me," swapping to my own, "Girls with me."

And with that hoping Midoriya would catch up, I marched out. Towards my first uniformed hero class. Not as Tanya Yamada, but as The Argent Voice: Echo

A/N: I could have let this chapter sit for a while longer and get this school day over and done with, swapping PoVs to Kyoka, All Might, Nedzu ect.. but…. Nawww. Save the battle trials and alternative PoVs for the next chapter… or the one after that… idk yet. This is all Tanya!

Also holy mega c- the favorites and follows are off the charts. 300+ favorites/bookmarks and almost 500 follows across ao3 and fanfiction.

It's with this rising popularity that just like our girl Tanya- I will capitalize on and tell you all about this amazing thing me and my sister started. It starts with Pat there is a R in the middle and ends in eon. ;D

You know the site/TheMarkofArtemis

If you want to give us some coffee. No pressure, I won't be giving any sneak peaks or only coffee buyer stories. Right now it's just two drawings of Tanya in her mark one costume. More stuff will follow depending on how active it becomes.

Sell out aside: I hope you all enjoy this story and leave me a review. I love responding to them and reading them :)

Oh yeah, this is also the first chapter my sister wrote a sentence in. So I guess she deserves a spot in the AN…

Artemis: Yes there are some works on hold right now as we try to hammer out the issues. Steven and Danny are not forgotten, they are just having an extended break so please don't come for our heads. We will be posting our thoughts and responding more closely to our new page. IYKYK. I do take art suggestions so if you have an idea let us know. Who knows, maybe someday I can quit my day job and focus only on writing.
