Jaune played with his food pushing his eggs and sausage around his plate. It had been a week since he had gotten out of the hospital. Jaune's thoughts went back to the argument he had with his father. Did they miss him? Jaune shuddered thinking about how much trouble he was going to be in when he got home. "I am going to be grounded for life" Jaune thought to himself as he ate the last bit of his food.

"Thank you, for the food, '' Jaune said, very grateful.

"You're welcome," Frank said without hesitation. The old man watched Jaune. He noticed that Jaune was worried, "What is worrying you?" He said.

Jaune spoke quickly "I lost my grandfather's book when I had gotten attacked by the Beowulf and I." Jaune paused thinking "it was one of the last things he gave me." The older man nodded understanding why it was important.

"Did your Grandfather also give you your sword?" The older man asked curiously.

"Yeah, he did."

Frank patted Juanes back. "If you want, you and I can go see if we can find it. I think I can remember where I found you."

"That would be great." Jaune said a bit more hopeful.

"Grab your coat and sword and we can go look for your grandfather's book" Jaune nodded and quickly ran to get ready, he needed to find that guidebook. He hoped that no one else found it already.

The forest was very peaceful compared to his first day. Jaune felt more confident now that he wasn't alone. The older man had a pistol strapped to his hip and he was trudging slowly down the road. Jaune watched the older man as he walked. Jaune could see that he walked with a slight limp. "So, why did you retire from being a hunter," Jaune asked, curious about the older man's story.

Frank chuckled. "That's a long story, Did your grandfather ever tell you stories of what it was like being a huntsman?"

Lots of different stories came to Jaune's mind. "Yeah he always did, but I always thought they were just stories."

The older man continued "Being a huntsman is a lot of responsibility, one where you have to make hard choices. One of my missions there was a distress call and I had to save someone. I got hurt in the process going too far into the badlands. After that I wasn't able to go out and I had to retire. That's why I mostly do smaller jobs here and there."

"That's good you at least you saved the person." Jaune said

Frank looked troubled "Well no they died, I wasn't able to save them. And that is probably one of the hardest parts of the job."

Frank changed the subject. This is where I found you. You were in the grass on the left side of the road. "You looked awful, I thought you were actually dead."

"I might have been If it was not for you." Jaune said. Jaune Looking around trying to see if there was any indication of the book. Frank began to help him look for it. They looked for what seemed like an hour.

"It's gone." Jaune said, falling to the ground. Not a trace of it could be found. Jaune could feel his whole world crumble. Frank took note of Jaunes facial expression and decided to give him a boost.

He picked Jaune up and looked him in the eye "Let's make sure this never happens again. Pull out your sword."

"What right now?" Jaune said surprised.

"Do you have a better time?" Frank asked, pointing out the obvious.

"No, I don't," Jaune pulled out his sword and held it in front of himself. The older man looked at Jaune trying to think of what to say.

"Now I don't use a sword myself but I can teach you the basics of a fight."

Frank put up his fists and motioned to Jaune "I am ready whenever you are."

Jaune hesitated "But"

Frank stopped him. "You can do it, It takes more than that to take me down."

Jaune swung his sword at Frank, Frank moved closer to Jaune and knocked the sword from his hands.

Frank thought for a moment. "try to not close your eyes. Keep your eyes on your opponent and watch the way they move. Things like If someone is more dominant on one hand or the other. Grimm are very similar to us in that sense. They have habits and ways of doing things."

Jaune nodded his head, " I think I understand."

"Good, pick up your sword and try again."

Jaune sat down onto the ground. He was sore more than he was when he fought the Grimm. Frank had taught him for about two hours. Jaune felt like he was fit, but now he wasn't so sure.

Frank laughed "Are you feeling better?" He asked, seeing Jaune tired.

Jaune laughed, smiling "yeah, I am feeling better" It was true his previous worries were gone.

Frank sat down next to Jaune and stared at the sun as it went down.

Jaune stared at the sunset as well, enjoying it for a moment. "When you were a huntsman did you ever feel inadequate?" Jaune asked Frank.

Frank nodded his head. "Everyday I felt that. But you learn to be brave"

Jaune stood up, and put his hand out to the older man. Can you help me get ready to be a huntsman?" Jaune asked with determination.

Frank laughed "can I, I can help with as much as I can. I am an old man remember"

Jaune laughed as he helped Frank up.

"Did you find him?" an ominous voice said.

"No, but I was able to procure this book. I believe it has some information that will be needed for our cause" He held up the book showing it to the person he was talking to.

"Good, everything's coming together"

Someone told me they wanted more interaction with the man that save Jaune. I added a small interaction. I am doing some major edits with all of the current Chapters at the moment so things will a bit slower. Also I am getting ready for college so that too. Thanks and enjoy the story.
