I'm back with the promised PHO interlude. This my first time trying something like this so I hope it turned out well. Before we began I'd like to let everyone know I'll be needing to change my update schedule for this story. I just started a full-time job fairly recently so I haven't had as much time to work on this as I did before. As such, there won't be any updates in September and starting the first Sunday in October I'll be moving to a monthly update schedule instead of a bi-weekly one. In the future I might be able to go back to a bi-weekly update schedule. For now though, you'll have to wait a month for the next chapter. Welp, that's all I've got to say, on to the interlude.

As I said in the the title, WTF Shadow Stalker? Let me give you all the run down since I didn't get it on video.

Now I was sitting in Retro Diner having lunch with the boys when suddenly these two girls got up in a panic. Something about Shadow Stalker being after them. Next thing you know the "hero" in question comes flying through the wall and just fires on them. One of the girls pushed their friend out of the way and took bolt in the shoulder. Everyone runs out or for cover while the girl who was pushed out of the way gets up and looks ready to fight to defend her friend.

Now the story gets interesting since it seems Shadow Stalker knows this girl and this girl seemed realize she knew Shadow Stalker. Not gonna reveal much beyond this, capes and their secret identities and all. All I will say is I don't know what Shadow did to the girl but damn did she look pissed when she figured out whatever she did about Shadow Stalker.

Anyways fight happens and believe or not the girl holds her own well. Clearly a cape by the way. You don't dodge crossbow bolts from the range she did without powers or an insane amount of luck. Nor avoid an attack from above and behind without seeing it, but that comes later. Anyways girl holds her own but can only dodge since Shadow Stalker does Shadow Stalker things and let the hit phase through her.

This is getting long so I'll shorten up the last parts. Basically Shadow Stalker goes for a sneak attack like I said before. It fails she starts ranting and raving. She gets distract from a thrown plating hitting her courtesy of the other girl who was injured. The uninjured girl then proceeds to give the most savage of savage beat downs I'd seen in person onto Shadow Stalker. Based on what the girl was shouting I'd say Shadow had it coming. And then it all ended when Clockblocker and Vista finally show up and freeze the crazy bitch.

So again I say, WTF Shadow Stalker?

Edit 2: Bagrat got us the big info. TL;DR Shadow Stalker was a very bad girl and was gonna get punished before she flipped out and decided to escape to go on a revenge quest. Read Bagrat's comment on page 5 if you want to know more.

Acree: first off don't just go labeling people villains without proof. Second, even if we assume that, the attack would be still way uncalled for. The villains who warrant such action would be known by most, probably recognized even out of costume, and have a much bigger response than a surprise attack by a ward.

For some context, it looked like Shadow Stalker was going in for the kill way. In short way beyond what some random girl warrants. Not unless there's a kill order on a chick who's only power seems to be slightly enhanced strength and knowing how to dodge really good.

Was outside and didn't catch the beginning, but I caught up until the wards arrived. After that I was ushered away by some PRT troopers.

Edit: can't tell if it's the window but does her hair look white?

BadSamurai: Nah, I'm pretty sure her hair changed to that right before the fight so her identity is safe. Can't say for sure though, didn't get a good look at her face when she walked in. Unless there's a video that's got a better view of her face.

Wanted to post on this sooner but was waiting for my sources to get back to me. They've been very tight lipped about this so I haven't got much unfortunately.

What I have been able to discern paints a bad picture. It seems that Shadow Stalker was up to something nasty in her civilian identity and was keeping it a secret from basically everyone in the PRT. She got caught however. And it just so happens the two girls who revealed this to the PRT were the ones attacked.

Anyways, an investigation was happening before this and it looked like Shadow Stalker decided to say screw it and break off before she could get the books thrown at her. Her attack on the girls was probably a revenge thing to try and take down those who brought this to the PRT.

Why she went for this instead of just making a break for it I'm not sure. Though from what I do know, she does have violent tendencies so maybe that's why.

I feel you two are being too hard on the PRT. The story we've got is probably mostly true. I can total believe Shadow Stalker was keeping things in her civilian identity hidden and PRT just didn't know until they were made aware of it. I'm pretty sure Wards are given more privacy since you know, they're children.

To get back on topic, It's probably true what we've heard from bagrat. It's also probably the case the only reason we're hearing about it is so the PRT can cover their asses. In which case it's probably true but spun slightly the make the PRT look less bad.

That's true I don't think anyone was nearby to capture their discussion so we can't really know what happened. She didn't seemed to have animosity towards them from what I saw. However, I was being escorted away at the time and didn't have the best view of things. Also worry for her friend probably took precedent over whatever beef she might have with the PRT.

It's hardly fair to just go scorched earth on the heroes for one f-up. Doubt she'd be keen on joining them as a Ward though, maybe work with them as an independent but not join them. I don't remember anyone saying she had a wig or at something to hide her hair that flew off in the fighting. So I'm betting it's not something she's worried about leading back to her.

High likelihood of GunFu_Gal being Taylor Hebert, the girl who was attack.

High likelihood of her misdirect to succeed in keeping her identity safe.

Has taken advantage of in built assumptions about how most Parahumans act to achieve this.

These were the conclusions her power supplied her with. She showed no outward response to these deductions. She only maintained her expression of dumbfoundedness at what she had uncovered.
