Chapter 15: You…Me…The enemy

It had been two weeks since the attack of the robots and everything had taken an interesting turn. Sara for one didn't show much resistance to Frankenstein treating her and was even accepting of him running some tests. The guys were shocked but Bart said that he was expecting for that to happen given the circumstances. Sara might have been stubborn but she wasn't an idiot. She had to know the situation she was in and had her priorities re-evaluated.

Frankenstein had told Sara not to use her abilities much even though he was eager to restart the searching; he knew that the key person in finding his Master had to be in top health in order to succeed. In these two weeks he didn't feel his Master's presence or even a small headache.

The security around the school and the house had become tighter and with Frankenstein taking the reins of the school once again, albeit for a short time, Tao had the freedom to set up new systems. Of course that cost money and Tao being Tao was not shy of asking Frankenstein for a small "bonus" in order to get top gear. It was a worthy attempt but Frankenstein reminded him of how much he was already paying him and how he had to give money for the repairs that the robots had caused. Later though he put a small bonus on all three accounts without saying anything, although he was sure at least Tao would notice sooner than the others. Why did he do it? He wasn't sure. He just did it.

He was currently in his office, taking care of his business as headmaster while being in constant touch with Haji. Tao had sent some scripted data and one of the central robots computers' structure blueprint, to Haji, in hopes that he could recognize some of it and have his own tests made. Nobody had said it out loud up until now, but it was clear that this was some Union work. Apparently not everyone from that organization had abandoned it and that fact alone gave Frankenstein a headache. 'Really? Was it this hard for humans to accept that this kind of power and influence is not good?'

{Huh…like you are one to talk Frankenstein…}

'Well, well…look who decided to crawl back from their cave' Frankenstein thought but he really wasn't in the mood of talking with them. He didn't even give them the courtesy of answering out loud.

{In case you didn't realize, that cave is your mind~}

{And your soul…hehehehe}

The power of the Dark Spear, alongside all of its conquered souls, was booming in his mind. Frankenstein paid it no mind.

{It feels good to be around without that annoying presence}

{Is she dead? Hehehehe}

{Dead, dead…dead}

{Yes! Curse her! And curse you Frankenstein!}

Frankenstein was trying to ignore the voices in his head but they were becoming an obstacle to his duties.

'No, she is not dead'

The reaction was expected. Really meanacing energy was released in his mind. Oh how he wished his Master was there.

{Damn you Frankenstein! Why isn't she dead? Why did you save her?}

'If I knew that it was going to bother you so much, I would have nursed her everyday too' he said sarcastically.

{Ugh…She is annoying, and weak…Did you see how it took her two whole weeks to recover?}

{She isn't even as strong as one of those Union-reject pests that you are so fond of}

{She doesn't even heal that fast}

'Hehehe…And I haven't told you the best news yet. I invited her to come to the school'

{WHAT?!WHY?!}

Frankenstein couldn't hold his smirk. It was a rare thing to be able to spite his demons and he enjoyed every second of it. He knew that it wouldn't last for long though. Sometimes they really were way too childish.

at YE-RAN school yard…

The air was chilly. The guards were on constant duty and nothing was to distract them; not even the November's coming cold air. Even though the weather forecast had said that this will be the warmest November of the last ten years, the first few days proved quite chilly. Maybe things would get better tomorrow.

It was around 12:00 p.m. during one of the school's periods that a person set foot in school, that it hadn't before.

Takeo noticed that someone went through the front entrance and briefed the others that he was going to check. He saw that a woman in a white floral dress was about to enter the premises. Her coat had a red hue matching the flowers in her dress. Her hair was down but she looked quite tastefully dressed and she had a professional look. She was also wearing a very beautiful hat that matched the rest of the outfit. Takeo didn't know what to think though. Frankenstein hadn't informed them about any visitors today so the front yard was out of question. It was for the students and staff only anyways. He approached her as Bart was looking from the roof and Tao from one of his cameras.

"Excuse me, this entrance is for the students and staff only"

"I know the headmaster" she simply said with her head slightly down.

Takeo sighed. Great. Another person who really couldn't comprehend just a simple rule. They used to have those from time to time.

"Ma'am, please understand that the back entrance is the one for guests and I will have to ask the headmaster…-"

"Oh come on Takeo! I'm not that old! Don't call me ma'am of all things!" she raised her head so the rimmed hat would not hid so much of her face.

"HUH?! Sara?"

She smiled genuinely "Well, what do you think? Do I clean up good?" she asked referring to her looks.

Truth be told she was a mess since she came to Korea and cared little if none at all about what she was wearing or how she styled her hair. But Frankenstein told her the last night that if she was to come to the school she should clean up and wear something nicer than simple hoodies. But what really came as a surprise to her was to find clothes and accessories at the edge of her bed this morning as she woke up. Now that she was out of danger and all healed up, he properly had invited her. 'Bossy…but generous'

Tao zoomed in "Yup it's her. Hey Bart, do you see her?"

"Yeah, I see her. Why ask me?"

"Just checking"

"Piss off"

"Hehehehe"

At the front entrance Takeo didn't know how to proceed "Erm…Sara…not that I'm not glad that you are here but Frankenstein didn't tell us anything for your arrival"

"I see. Maybe you should check on him?"

"Tao says he is already doing it"

After a minute Frankenstein confirmed it and also told them three guards to come up. Once in his office he had them all four lined up in front of him. After keeping them like that for a minute without saying a thing – Sara was thinking he was doing it to torture them – he finally spoke.

"I present you, the new English teacher of this semester"

Lukedonia…Blester mansion…

The male figure was very nervous. He was walking up and down the room and he was pretty sure that he was opening a ditch with his walking. The day had finally come and he was sure about himself. Karias Blester had found his old self and was now taking care of his clan business like before but today he was feeling a little more anxious. Suddenly a knock was heard from the door and Karias hopefully told them to get in. It was his loyal servant Saris; a young blonde man with pale skin and a very skeptical face that seemed to have been there since his birth. Karias lost a little of his enthusiasm.

"Sir Karias" greeted the thin man with a small bow.

"Saris, what is it? You know that I have to leave in a few minutes"

"I know sir, but the leader of the Tradio Clan asked to see you. How shall I proceed?"

"Claudia is here? Send her in immediately"

"Of course"

Soon Karias was greeted with Claudia's smile and knowing stare "Did you really think I would let you leave without saying goodbye?" she showed her hand with a small pouch in it. The smell of lavender and lemongrass was already overpowering his sense of smell.

"Oh my dear and astonishing Claudia" he said with a little bit of flair and drama "How could you think that I would departure without giving you my farewells personally"

Claudia continued to smile and played along as she handed him the pouch "I'm glad that you honor me like that but still, I think you should take this blend with you"

"Huh…Seriously now I have taken quite a big amount of it that it will last for a lifetime…"

"It's not for you, it's for the host. I believe you should always bring a gift whenever you are called to a house"

He took it from her and gently put it in his bag "I will deliver this to Frankenstein myself" then he took one of her hands into his " May we meet soon my dear Claudia"

Claudia smiled and looked at him seriously "May you be well and…not fall in the same bad habits again" she finished suggestively.

"Oh" he shook his head "I'm so hurt that you would not trust me that I don't know if I can departure now" it was kind of a little game that they had started to play. Claudia had adjusted to Karias' attics and Karias made sure to express his gratitude through them to her.

"Huh…You will be fine…right? That last word was asked in all seriousness and concern.

Karias smiled and very tenderly brought her hand in front of his mouth without touching it though – as the custom dictated.

"Don't worry Claudia. I promise I will be careful"

"WHAT?!"The three guards asked at once while Sara had her eyes really opened.

She still didn't give any other sign of her surprise and the reason why was because she already knew of this. Frankenstein had suggested it since the guards' priority would be to guard the students' safety more tightly from now on and that would mean that she would have to stay alone at home for more time that before. She was pretty sure he was doing it in order to be constantly checking on her because trust was a difficult thing to be found these days but she understood the reason more or less.

Frankenstein let them have only a small time to process what he just said and he moved on "Although her Korean is not perfect I believe you have caught up things form here and there. Besides here in the East, English lessons tend to be done by speaking nothing but English in the class and given that you know the language very well I think there won't be a problem. Tao will make sure to provide you with a language book for beginners"

"I will?" asked Tao.

One look from Frankenstein was enough.

"I will!" he said with a rushed cheerfulness.

"So boys I know that this is a last minute call but trust me on this"

They all nodded and Frankenstein knew they knew.

An awkward silence followed in the room. After he told them to help Sara if she needed any directions, Frankenstein dismissed his boys but kept Sara for a little briefing about her classes and schedule. He told her that this day was just a first impression for her. She was to return home sooner than them.

"Are you sure, Frankenstein? I mean…It's remarkable how they accepted it so easily…-"

"They did it because they trust me. Don't think you have their full trust yet"

She signed and was going to say nothing about it but something made her ask why. She expressed honest curiosity as to why after what had happened, they were still reluctant to trust her.

"It has happened before" was the initial answer she got. Understanding that it was not very helpful, Frankenstein moved a little bit backwards in his chair in order to be facing her directly "Do you remember M-24?"

Her eyes shone "Yes, his name was Antony though"

"Yes, of course. Excuse me but all this time we were used to call him that. It is difficult to even call Bart with his name from time to time still"

"I understand. So what of him?" she asked with genuine curiosity again.

And Frankenstein told her. He told her everything from the beginning; how he and his Master met Bart and Antony – M-21 and M-24 at the time – and how Antony sacrificed his life to save the children. He told her how after so long he "came back from the dead", how Bart was so hopeful and happy about it, the pain of betrayal, the imposter Mark and how it all ended by Bart fighting Mark to the ground and destroying him while still looking at his friend's face while going so.

The period was over and the kids had already gone out for recess. Thankfully nobody disturbed them in that time. She hadn't realized but she slowly sat down on one of the chairs as she was listening to the story. At some point she had put her hand on her mouth to cover her surprise but her teary eyes couldn't be covered.

After he finished telling her he could feel her sadness emanating from her. He could do nothing about it though. She had to know.

As she tried to compose herself she looked at Frankenstein and just nodded in understanding and stood up to leave feeling a hollow feeling welling up inside her.

"Sara"

She carefully turned to him.

"It would be good to start knowing the building. Your lessons don't start until tomorrow anyway. Start from the teachers' restroom if you want to freshen up. I have already informed them of your arrival"

"Okay" she went to open the door "Where is it?"

"To you right as you come out, down the hall"

She nodded again even though she found it strange that the first thing he recommended her to look was the bathroom, but once she got to it and looked at the mirror she understood why. She looked as white as sheet and her eyes were a little red from the tears. She wiped them and splashed some water on her face.

"Time to get on with it"

At the ex-Union storage…

The big screen was showing progress but still something was missing. Haji could feel the headache coming. The computer systems were made in the Union labs no doubt but the software was something extremely unique. No wonder Tao, for all his skill, had a hard time decoding it; it was something that didn't resemble any computer software that was known. For now he tried to decode it with the most universal computer language, the 0 and 1 code. It would take a lot of time.

As he was analyzing the material of the metal, he couldn't help but think of the First Elder of the Union. He thought that he really didn't deserve the end he got. That man…despite what he…what they had done…he really didn't deserve it. If nothing else, to be turned into an atrocious half-machine controlled by Crombel, being half-conscious and dying at the hands of Frankenstein.

Roland X. was his name. Haji knew it because he had told him in a time when the man had a little too much wine that night. He had never told him his full surname but Haji didn't mind. It was weird how they bonded quickly even before he got the title of an elder.

He also told him that he never really liked his name as it always reminded him of how weak he used to be. He had told him why he started getting stronger and how he got to join the Union and climb the ranks faster than anyone before. Up until him the Union was slow for the taking against the Nobles and Werewolves that were thriving in the power differences against humans. He was an idealist and a man of vision. He allowed to be experimented upon and he didn't fear the change. Soon his skin and body would be invincible and time wouldn't affect him. He had joined the Union more than half a millenia ago as he had told him. The process was tough. He held tight. But somewhere along the way, he lost sight of his cause. They all did, thought Haji…They all became hungry for power and dominance over the humans. Ruling them, using them, disposing them as something expendable.

At the near end of his life he was starting to look like Roland X. that Haji had met that night 35 years ago over some pizza and wine. 'The fight with Frankenstein had shaken him so much that he had started to see his blindness'. As he was remembering and thinking about that, Haji was wondering if that last thought was about the First Elder or about himself. He laughed bitterly and if he was honest with himself, a little too disturbingly. Frankenstein would have laughed like that, not the always calm and collected Haji. Right?

He pushed aside all the memories and got up in order to make a coffee. Luckily the storage had a lot of it stored so he had plenty left. As he returned to the desk with a freshly made mug of coffee, he almost dropped it as he saw the screen. The central computer was indeed something else. It had managed to decode the program of the robots and the software that was written upon.

It was a mix-up of some Union programs and softwares, more like scraps tided together so masterfully that they seemed as something unique. And after that, he was able to unlock the program. There was mostly operating data, fighting data and orders of one thing of other. Also protocols and a very weird locked file that looked tricky but he thought he could pass that to Tao to solve. Right now he wanted to enjoy his coffee before things were starting to get messy again.

After he finished, he sent the results to Tao straight away.

It was night when they approached the town. Their steps were barely audible. They silently approached the familiar home. For some reason they decided to land on the balcony and that was their first mistake.

She came with a speed that none of the two had anticipated but they were pretty quick to react on their own. The woman that came from Frankenstein's house looked ferocious while wielding what looked like energy swords in her hands that had a dark orange hue. They looked painful to the touch but she was holding them with such naturality. She attacked and pushed them out of the balcony into the garden.

The man and the woman immediately took defensive stances and avoided her attacks with ease. They moved like the leaves move when the wind carries them but with the precision of a heart surgeon. The attacker stopped and apprehended them. She finally spoke.

"You have no business here! Leave and tell your boss not to send his filthy trash here ever again or I will send him your carcass back in a box!"

She looked like she meant it. Right then Frankenstein appeared out of nowhere and stepped in between them with a stance that clearly said 'Stop the fight, you are ruining the gazebo'

The figures dressed in black dropped their defensive stance immediately. The auburn haired woman was still thinking of it. Frankenstein looked at her and motioned to her aura. She saw that it was getting out of shape so she relaxed and with that the swords disappeared. But that wasn't enough.

"Well, what in the name of my Master are you three doing here?" asked Frankenstein with a forced politeness through his teeth. They were starting to make a mess after all.

The tall, blonde all black wearing man smiled sincerely and took a step forward to Frankenstein.

"Well obviously Frankenstein, there has been a misunderstanding…You obviously failed to inform your guest that we would come. And I do admit I suggested that we come through the balcony in order to pleasntly surprise you but it went all so wrong…" he whined and then he turned to the girl that was now taking deep breaths trying to understand what exactly was happening.

"Wait, you know them? You called them?!" she looked baffled at the blonde scientist as if she couldn't believe him.

Not phased Frankenstein turned to her and answered with casual manner "Yes, and yes. Sara may I introduce you to Karias Blester, leader of the Blester Clan and the lovely lady Miss Seira J. Loyard, leader of the Loyard Clan" he then turned to them and like a battle had not almost just occurred he opened his hands "Welcome back friends, I am sure we have plenty to talk"

At that moment the three members Bart and the others arrived and didn't believe what they were seeing. Tao was the first to greet the faces that were new to Sara but familiar to the rest of the others. At some point of going inside Sara pulled Takeo by the sleeve.

"Hey is this man for real? He invited them without telling me? I could have started a fight with them!" and then a thought crossed her mind "Did you guys knew that they were coming?"

Takeo thought for some seconds before answering "Well we knew that someone from Lukedonia would come we just didn't know when and who. Honestly Sara I didn't know that it would be today. And we sure as hell didn't know that you are going to become a teacher at the school"

She raised an eyebrow as the last sentence was heard a little too accusatory "What are you accusing me for? Well, you became a guard of the school and I am sure your ledger is far redder than mine so I would appreciate if you didn't sound so surprised about my position"

Takeo sighed "Whatever, I don't want to fight with you…It was just so sudden for us. Quite the surprise"

She looked at the way of the house where the others had disappeared into "Huh…full of surprises this day Takeo. Full of surprises"

She made her way inside. She really couldn't be mad at Takeo. The man was always trying to even the spirits and be as supportive as his limited trust towards her allowed him to be. Takeo said nothing and made a move to follow her inside.

A/N: So there it is! I don't really know about how courses are taught in Korea but I took the idea on English course from an anime I watched. So I rolled with it and maybe it won;t be as bad. After all maybe Frankenstein adopted that policy too who knows?

Next time we will have some more interactions with the characters and some information of the past will be revealed.

So how did you like it? As always put on an alert as the updates are not coming in particular dates.

Big thank you to "Crow155" for favoring this story ^_^

AND...have a nice day~
