So hi... It's been... a minute. I have depression and since I moved I hadn't found a doctor and then ran out of Antidepressants and so the last little bit was... rough. But I'm back now and will be making my way back to catching up.

I made an Instagram, . Please pop over especially if you want to chat or keep apprised of what's happening in my writing world!

Okay here is chapter 1/3 for today!

Wednesday, September 23, 1998

"I would like to thank you all for coming to the Baby Shower for Myuh," Millie chirped to the assembled group. "I know that this falls on one of the Sacred Days, so we've decided to combine some of the traditions.

"There are a few stations," Ginny continued. "As you know, Alban Elfed is a time for gratitude and preparing for the winter. With this winter baby, we hope to gather well wishes for the family."

"Please, take your time with each station and do enjoy our hospitality," Jean beamed at the group, "we're so grateful that you all have come to spend time with us on this momentous occasion. They are my first grandchild after all, and the Heir to an Ancient and Noble House!"

When the titters and last minute additions finally arrived, the party officially started. The group was mixed, although the men stayed closer to Draco and Theo at the bar. As it was a Sacred Day, Draco had the morning off, although he was still expected at his lessons that evening.

In Ancient Greece, Alban Elfed was the time of year when Persephone rejoined Hades in the Underworld. Hermione had always liked the symbolism of the story and sometimes when she was feeling cheeky would refer to herself as Persephone. This celebration had Hermione dressed in the colours of spring and flowers wound into her braids, as they decided to play up the Persephone comparison.

For the most part, Hermione's whole day consisted of sitting on a couch and letting people come to her. She'd never been able to celebrate a proper Alban Elfed as it always took place after she'd gone to school, but she'd tried to keep up with the traditions.

She always started the morning with a gratitude list as it was traditionally a celebration of an abundant harvest. You were supposed to be thankful in order to invite more good things into your life. She always spent some of the day cleaning out the Common Room to reinstate equilibrium and make space for other things to grow over the winter.

Of course making sure the fireplace and candles were lit throughout the day was crucial, although the Elves took care of that. The light in the dark of the coming winter to help guide you through the time of hibernation and rebuilding was one of her favourite metaphors. She always made sure to write her intentions for the winter on a sheet of parchment and throw it into the fire.

By the time the guests had finished their celebrations, Hermione was sitting amongst a pile of presents that were all covered in flowers and leaves thanks to a clever spell that Ginny had invented. She sat and opened her gifts, and had to hold back a few laughs at the ridiculous things the guests had brought.

There were countless impractical robes that would not do for a baby nor a toddler. There was a whole slew of bejewelled baby items that were in a word, obscene. Scorpius would not be using a Emerald encrusted pacifier nor would he be using the gold plated diaper pins.

Amongst the useful presents were a set of clothing that grew along with him throughout his first year, a stuffed dragon, and a book called "Necessary Potions for the New Mother." Hermione could barely refrain from skimming the book when she received it. Millie dutifully wrote down each gift and who'd given it to her.

By the time the last flames were dying in the fireplace, Draco had already taken his leave and the guests were mostly gone, just leaving Ginny and Millie behind. Hermione quickly shed her robes and groaned as she lay back against the pillows of the couch. The only, very small perk was that Madam Zabini had not been able to corner Hermione longer than a few moments to invite her to tea.

"That was exhausting," she whined.

"It was rather, wasn't it?" Ginny said with a chuckle.

"And you didn't even have to teach today," Theo said with a smirk.

"Ah the perks of the holidays," she said sarcastically.
