Chapter 1421

EMP Ambush

John Henry was increasingly worried about Savannah and Young Allison. The threat of an ambush seemed to keep growing. He wanted to get things resolved before there was an incident.

"Savannah, I think we should just do a missile strike against both targets." John Henry said. "We can end this now and avoid the ambush."

Savannah didn't want three of the anti-Metal faction, she wanted all of them. Even if it wasn't all of them, it would be more of them. She understood Young Allison's reasoning about setting up the entire endeavor. She'd been against it at first. The more she thought about it, the more she liked the idea.

"I want as many of these people eliminated as possible." Savannah said. "They're a threat to John and the future."

Savannah knew they were a threat to Cameron and Young Allison too. She didn't think about herself. She was a 'Metal Lover' and she wasn't ashamed of it. She was proud of it.

Summer wanted to take some preemptive action. She selected some locations to strike with 'metal hail'. She wanted CamNet to do the geographic strikes after the green sedan passed the locations. If they waited, it wouldn't tip their hand to the occupant of the vehicle.

They should occur before Savannah's SUV arrived at the locations. It would give her time to assess the situation.

Cameron was on top of John facing him. She bent all the way down to give him a kiss every so often. She wanted him to take in her upper torso and face. She was content to be who she was right now. She wanted John to be able to see her. She liked it because the light was on right now.

She could tell John was about to finish. She bent down and gave him a kiss and held it. She could soon feel him make it. She didn't let up. John squirmed around wildly as she kept going and held the kiss. She 'made it' a few seconds later. She slowed and rested firmly on top of him. She finally released the kiss.

John gasped for air. He was unable to speak at first.

"Wow!" John gasped. "It may have been the best ever."

Cameron smiled. She was who she was. She was in her own chassis. His statement made her very happy to hear it.

She'd only seen Leticia with females and it was with Sheila. She wanted to compare how she stacked up to the 'best' in bed. She could outlast any human female because she could make love for years without needing to stop. It was the other aspects of love making she was worried about. She really wanted to bring Leticia there and see how she compared to her. She could learn something new. She wanted the 'human' connection. It was something all the human girls could offer John.

It was times like this where she really wished she'd been with Savannah before. They all told her Savannah offered love and it could be felt as such. She wanted the same feeling so she could deliver it to John herself.

Maybe she would let John watch Sheila and Leticia together first. It would get him aroused. Once it happened, and she put him in bed with Leticia, she didn't think he could resist. It would be especially so if she urged him on.

Cameron was still on top of John. He wondered what was next. She hadn't moved since she stopped a few minutes ago. He was glad the espresso was still working. He simply didn't have any idea where she was lost in thought at.

He didn't think it was a problem which would harm him. He was sure she was in a place where she wanted to be in right now. He just hoped he was a part of it. He wasn't really sure how things would play out when Cameron became active with others. He was sure it would be with Savannah first. It could be with Young Allison as well. Young Allison seemed very anxious to join the others. He couldn't blame her. He saw what happened around him. He knew Young Allison saw it as well. He was sure it was one of the driving factors why Savannah told Cameron she needed more.

John needed to think about what exactly more was. What he experienced over the last week on the cruise was more than he'd ever imagined he would experience, at least in such a short period of time. There was also the prospect he would be able to be with each of the Metal girls as themselves. He was already with them with Cameron in control of their chassis. He looked forward to being with them as themselves. He really didn't know if Cameron would keep her promise or not. He strongly doubted it. She took from them what she'd wanted. He couldn't fault her because he knew he was just as 'guilty'. He wanted what their chassis had to offer as well.

He also thought about the human females. There was more available right now than just the Resistance females. There were the new girls on the ship. They all seemed like they wanted to be with him. It was what Cameron indicated as well. If Cameron brought one of them there, or took him to one of them, he wasn't going to turn them down. What could it hurt? It was just sex. It wouldn't be like we were in love or anything. They would be there today and gone tomorrow.

Allison woke up and looked over at Vanna. She was sleeping peacefully. She smiled and gently touched her cheek. She got up out of bed and went to the restroom.

When she was done and on her way back through the dressing room, she spotted Holly. Well, it was Holly's chassis anyway. She wanted to know for sure. Maybe the easiest way was just to ask.

"Holly?" Allison asked.

Allison wasn't aware if they'd made the chip swap or not.

"Yes." Holly said. "I'm back in my 'home'."

Allison was very glad to hear it. She knew how much Holly liked being in Camille's chassis. Holly even asked her if she could keep it so they could look the 'same'. She didn't want to tell Holly how to 'look'. She liked her how she normally was. It was just something one got used to, the way another person 'looked'. It was the appearance one expected to see. It was the appearance one wanted to see.

"Thank You." Allison said and gave Holly a kiss.

Allison could tell she'd been with Jesse.

Wait.

She remembered Jesse wasn't on the ship. It was Young Jesse she'd been with. She wanted to be with Young Jesse before the cruise ended.

Allison looked back at Vanna sleeping and then at Holly.

"We can use the smaller room." Allison said. "I don't want to disturb Vanna. I'd like to be with Young Jesse too."

Holly smiled.

"I think we can do all those things." Holly said.

They passed through the main part of the suite to the smaller room.

Cam was waiting there when they arrived.

"You can go see Vanna if you want." Allison said. "Let her sleep some more if you can. She'll be pleased to see you when she wakes up. She's missed you."

Cam was very pleased to hear what Allison said. She was glad to know Vanna still cared for her. She smiled and left. She went and carefully climbed in bed next to Vanna. If Vanna woke up, she would see how long it took for her to realize she wasn't Allison. It sounded like 'fun'.

Savannah was behind the green sedan. She'd dropped back some more in anticipation of the ambush. It appeared it may be sooner than she'd thought.

"They're slowing." Mel said.

Savannah looked ahead but couldn't tell. She drove far enough behind them, she couldn't see the car. She let off the gas pedal.

Mel showed Savannah his phone with the tracking images overlaid on the map.

"Are they stopping?" Savannah asked.

Mel calculated the movement.

"No." Mel said. "They've only slowed by fifty percent."

Savannah waited for some additional information but there was none. She wondered if something else was about to happen

"John Henry, is there a turnoff?" Savannah asked.

There was a pause.

"There may be a little further up." John Henry said. "They may want you to close up on them so you make the turnoff."

Savannah figured it was where the ambush would be. It would be off the main road.

Mel went off line and Cammy rebooted.

Savannah filled her in.

Cammy was about to go back into standby.

"What's going on?" Cammy asked.

Savannah saw the dirt alongside the road up ahead of her start to fly up in all directions with sparks every now and then.

They both realized what it was. It was 'metal hail'.

The ambush site must have been spotted. Savannah wanted Cammy protected from the EMP which was sure to follow.

"Go back into standby, now." Savannah said.

Seconds ago:

Summer watched the movement of the cars along with the satellite map and her terrain map.

She established a set of coordinates with a grid pattern for CamNet to use as a reference point for the possible roadside target areas.

"Use minigun fire on locations C3 and C4 immediately." Summer said.

CamNet responded. There was a time lag involved. There was no way around it from the high altitude.

The ambush site must have been spotted. Savannah wanted Cammy protected from the EMP that was sure to follow.

"Go back into standby, now." Savannah said.

There was a flash of light. The SUV died and the lights went out.

Savannah wasn't sure if Cammy made it into standby or not in time. Either way she was inoperable right now.

She turned the wheel sharply and used the parking brake to slow the car. She didn't want to chance the brake lights coming on. She doubted they would. The goal was to make the SUV seem like it wasn't under any control. It would be the case if a Terminator was driving when the EMP went off.

Mel came back online.

"The first EMP has been deployed." Savannah said. "A drone has fired on their position from altitude."

Mel looked around.

"I see two figures approaching from behind us." Mel said. "There's another one from the front on the right. They appear injured."

Savannah knew it was time to go on the offensive. She quickly calculated the best course of action.

"Pop the two behind us and go back into stand by for forty seconds." Savannah said. "Come out of it ready to fight."

She was surprised when he used his M9. She heard two silenced rounds cough out death as she exited the SUV. She held her night vision but didn't turn it on yet. She sighted on the slow moving figure and fired three rounds from her M4. The figure toppled over.

"I told you it didn't work." A voice said. "Use the big one."

Two seconds later there was a brighter flash of light.

It sounded to Savannah as if there were at least two more people in the ambush. They'd just used a second and larger EMP.

Savannah put on her night vision and searched for a target. She knew Mel should be back online soon. She didn't know Cammy's status.

There was another shower of sparks and dirt behind the SUV on the other side. It happened in front of her too but not near her. It meant more targets were all around her. Hopefully most of them were being taken down.

She spotted one figure moving toward her and fired her M4 again. They went down.

She looked back and there was a figure near the SUV. It looked like they were about to throw a grenade of some kind. If it was Thermite grenade, Mel and Cammy were going to have a real bad day.

John Henry was contacted by CamNet as soon as Summer gave the fire mission.

They still received drone images but they were from high altitude. He witnesses the first EMP and then the second one about thirty seconds later.

There were close in drone images he started to receive.

'Coltan Overcast' was at the scene shortly after the second EMP blast. It must have been closer than it should have been. It was clearly willing to take the risk to help protect Savannah.

He understood any Terminator would do the same thing. The drone was just a different type of Terminator.

Savannah fired and emptied her magazine into the figure who approached the SUV with a grenade. They toppled over backwards and were engulfed in a fiery explosion as the grenade exploded. It was a Thermite grenade. She spotted a second figure on fire as they thrashed about and screamed in agony near the person she'd shot. There was the sound of a drone very near her. She heard the minigun open up. She wasn't hit, so she figured it was one of their drones. She was surprised there was one there already and so low.

The doors opened on the SUV. She saw Mel and Cammy get out. The SUV was in danger of burning on the side where the screaming figure was. The paint started to blister.

She heard the minigun fire over her head and the screaming figure was chewed up into smaller burning pieces. They no longer screamed.

Savannah took out a second com and put it in.

Cammy and Mel went wide around the far side in different directions. The drone returned and was behind her and above her. If there was a third EMP it wouldn't fall on her. It was close enough to the ground so it wouldn't be too badly damaged by the impact.

She could hear a vehicle approaching, but not see it. It should be Richard's team.

Savannah checked on the first two figures she'd shot. They were both dead.

The second SUV pulled up and three Terminators deployed from it. One of them must still be in standby. It was a good thing.

In the burning flames of the two bodies, she was able to identify the drone as 'Coltan Overcast'. It was what she'd figured. She wasn't surprised in the slightest. She looked at it and gave a command.

"Do a wider sweep." Savannah said. "Look for anyone fleeing."

'Coltan Overcast' left and began a search pattern.

Cammy and Mel returned.

"I found three dead from a high altitude minigun attack." Cammy said. "They possessed two EMP devices they were unable to use."

Mel found two more who were killed in the same way. It was a big ambush with at least ten people. They counted ten bodies anyway. The high altitude drone attack messed up their ambush from being sprung properly. It appeared the first hits were on the command section. It was mostly luck. The preemptive action had proven extremely valuable in preventing disaster.

Mel, Michael, Hank and Larry collected the bodies while Cammy searched them. They carried nothing of value for information. It seemed there was only one phone among them. It was probably to communicate with the green sedan. It was a military operation which turned out badly for the enemy.

Richard was in standby in the other SUV. He would reboot every thirty seconds and return to standby if there was no shooting.

Mel checked their SUV.

"The vehicle is disabled." Mel said.

Hank and Larry helped him remove everything of theirs from it and place it into the second SUV.

Savannah didn't like what almost happened. She knew they'd been lucky to a certain extent. They'd also taken every precaution possible. It was time for some payback.

"Where's the green sedan at?" Savannah asked.

John Henry kept careful track of it. It wasn't going to get away.

"It stopped for a minute. It's resumed along the dirt road it turned on to." John Henry said. "Three drones have it locked up. Do you want a fire mission?"

Savannah did, but she kept her cool. It seemed as if things hadn't played out to their fullest yet.

"Where does the dirt road lead?" Savannah asked.

John Henry looked at the satellite map. There were several choices it could take. If it continued on any of them, they all shared the same destination.

"It will come out in a populated area." John Henry said.

Savannah was aware 'Coltan Overcast' returned. It was moving up and down. It was clear it wanted an additional assignment. Its previous sweep didn't turn up any more targets. She wanted the driver of the green sedan. It was personal to her now on several levels.

"Go get the green sedan and disable it." Savannah said. "They may have an EMP so come in very low."

It didn't seem to matter. 'Coltan Overcast' was after a target. It headed away fast.

John Henry told them the Blackhawk was available. It was on its way to the port. It could be there in twenty minutes.

Savannah asked them to load all the bodies into the disabled SUV.

Cammy wasn't sure what Savannah was up to.

"Where are we going to leave our SUV?" Cammy asked.

Savannah headed for the other SUV. She looked at Mel.

"Mel will steer it." Savannah said. "Put it in 'Neutral' and I'll push you down the road for a mile to the junction of the dirt road. I'm going to rely on you steering without lights. Tell me when you want me to stop pushing."

The male Terminators were all in the second SUV when Savannah arrived. She climbed in and started it, Cammy got in the front with her. She moved up in back of the first SUV.

Mel indicated he was ready. The bumpers touched and they began to move rapidly forward at about forty miles an hour. They were headed toward the junction with the dirt road. Cammy relayed the pick up information for the Blackhawk to John Henry.

It looked like another side mission to the 'deep blue'. Another group of the enemy was about to 'sleep with the fishes'.

Earlier:

Young Allison listened to what she could. Most of the information came from John Henry at first. She was aware the attack already started.

She couldn't look at any images because she was driving, there was intermittent traffic. Anna rebooted so she was able to give her a running commentary of the events. She was pleased to hear Savannah took the fight to the enemy and won. She was even more pleased to know 'Coltan Overcast' was right in the middle of it and backed Savannah up.

Young Allison didn't like the danger Savannah just faced. She knew it was indirectly related to her actions with the female prisoner. It didn't sit well with her at all. She looked over at Anna.

"I want the female prisoner alive." Young Allison said.

Anna knew Young Allison wanted vengeance. She didn't want Young Allison to make it personal. It would cloud her judgment.

"It may not be possible." Anna said. "We should engage the target now and stop them from doing anything else."

Young Allison looked at the cars around and all the buildings. She thought about the mission Savannah just sent 'Coltan Overcast' on.

"Is there a drone in gun range?" Young Allison asked.

Anna figured there probably was. She checked.

"Cherry Bomb is within gun range of the blue truck." Anna said. "Other drones have it locked up for a missile strike."

Young Allison wanted a better idea of what she was dealing with. If the blue truck contained an EMP device, she needed to know what it would affect.

"What was the blast radius of the two EMP devices which were employed on Savannah's operation?" Young Allison asked.

Anna checked with John Henry and the drones around the area.

"The biggest one only affected things less than half a mile away from the detonation location." Anna said. "They appear to be low yield. They were deployed at ground level"

It was good enough for Young Allison. She wanted more help available.

"Have Steve's team close up to within half a mile of us." Young Allison said. "I want to be ready to act."

She wanted most of her resources close, but not all of them. They needed to be wary of an ambush as well. It was what Savannah's team just faced.

Holly and Allison were together. They seemed to especially enjoy each other. Things were back to normal.

One thing Holly noticed right away was her experience with Allison was superior in her own chassis. She liked having her larger breasts back too. Allison always paid them a lot of attention. She'd done so again when they started. Allison wasn't the only one who liked to fondle them. John paid them the most attention.

They would share for a while and then go over and see Young Jesse in the Honeymoon Suite. Holly worked everything out with Camille. They agreed to share while Allison was with Young Jesse. It looked like a win-win for everyone.

Camille sent Cam a message. Young Jesse asked to be with Vanna before they disembarked. Cam didn't think it was a problem. They would share with each other when it happened.

Cameron was with John one more time before he fell asleep. She got up and went to the Control Center. Jim was there.

He looked a little apprehensive when he spotted her. She was naked. He wondered if it was his turn for 'chassis duty'. He wasn't going to ask. He was ready to contact Sheila if it was.

Cameron moved over and looked at the monitors.

"What's happening?" Cameron asked.

Jim filled her in.

Cameron was very distressed because Young Allison was leading part of an operation against the anti-Metal group. The only good news was Savannah's team defeated the first ambush. There were other things on her mind as well.

"Where are the sheets from Young Jesse's bed?" Cameron asked.

Jim looked over towards the dressing room.

"They're in the closet out of view." Jim said.

It seemed like a good thing. She didn't want to raise any tail feathers.

She went to the closet and looked at the sheets. She checked the area where Young Jesse would have been to receive John, unless she was on top or on her knees.

She took them away without comment and placed them where the soiled linen was placed near Jim's room in the private area.

She was a little surprised to see Ally and Hanna leave the Honeymoon Suite and head for the smaller room of the Master Suite.

Holly and Allison exited the smaller room of the Master Suite. Allison held the door for Ally and Hanna.

They all smiled at Cameron standing there naked. They were all naked too. Allison and Holly went into the Honeymoon Suite. Cameron was going to go down the hall and see what Sheila and Leticia were up to. She stopped at the door from the private area to the hall. She was still naked.

The door from the Control Center opened and Jim came out with a bathrobe and a pass key.

Cameron thanked him and eyed his chassis and sheath.

Jim looked nervous and quickly left.

Cameron wondered who she should give to John as a final 'treat' for the cruise.

Sheila asked it to be her. Maybe she would do it. Jim and Bob didn't seem keen on the idea of allowing her to use their chassis. Copies of her program previously were in both of their chassis before. They were never used for anything sexual. There were a few times back then as Bob-Cameron when she thought John was ready for 'more'.

She put the robe on and went into the hall. She approached Leticia's suite and quietly entered. She peeked in the bedroom and was very surprised at what she witnessed.

Savannah left Mel, Hank and Larry with the disabled SUV and the bodies. She quietly left word for them to reinforce Young Allison after they dumped the SUV in the 'drink'. They were to have Ken and Lou keep the Blackhawk handy for Young Allison's needs. They were to direct Dan and Frank towards Young Allison as well.

At this point Savannah quietly cut her force in half.

"Let's go." Cammy said.

Savannah didn't like the rush. She was giving the orders on this one.

"Relax." Savannah said.

Cammy wanted the driver of the green sedan. She didn't like the danger Savannah just needed to face.

"Hurry so I can get a hold of the driver." Cammy said. "I'm going to beat the information out of them myself."

Richard and Michael walked up to her.

"We're to assist you." Michael said.

Richard nodded.

"Those are our orders." Richard said.

Savannah looked a little upset.

"I didn't give those orders to ANY of you." Savannah said.

Cammy saw it for what it was. The two girls were watching over each other.

"It looks like while you were giving secret orders to Mel, Hank and Larry, someone else was giving secret orders too." Cammy said. "What goes around, comes around."

It could only be Young Allison who'd done it.

Savannah took off down the dirt road after the green sedan. She wanted some payback for the ambush he tried to lead her into and almost did. If it wasn't for the preemptive drone strike, things would have played out a little differently. Most likely it would have been in a negative way.

'Coltan Overcast' closed in on the target. It communicated with CamNet. It stayed a half mile from the green sedan.

The driver of the green sedan knew something went wrong. They lost communication with everyone. They decided to run. They forgot about the tracker and concentrated on getting away as panic took over.

The dirt road in front of them began to spray dirt in all directions. They didn't know what was happening. They quickly realized it was minigun fire. It meant a drone needed to be close by.

They reached over and took the EMP they carried with them and armed it. They tossed it out the window. As soon as they let go of it, they realized it was going to disable their vehicle too. It was too late to do anything.

There was a blinding flash behind them. It should take care of the drone. The car coasted a little further and stopped.

The driver got out and started to run. They forgot to grab their rifle on the way out with the haste and panic they'd left in. All they carried was a pistol on them along with one grenade.

It wasn't more than ten seconds later when they heard the distinctive sound of a HK drone. It actually seemed very quiet. It was probably a new Skynet design.

They continued to run. They wondered if their brain would even register the multiple bullet strikes from the minigun.

A spotlight came on and illuminated the driver.

"Stand down." A voice boomed from the drone.

The driver continued to run.

'Coltan Overcast' fired a burst from its minigun in front of the running driver. They dodged off to the side and were met with a second blast of minigun fire. They tripped and fell as they tried to draw their pistol. The weapon was lost in the underbrush.

"Halt. You are under detention." A voice boomed from the drone.

The driver looked around. There was nowhere to go. The drone sound grew louder. There were now three drones which surrounded them.

The driver fell to the ground in the fetal position and broke down. The driver figured it was surely the end.

Savannah sped toward where the drones corralled the driver of the green sedan.

Richard didn't want Savannah to face unnecessary danger.

"We'll approach the driver first." Richard said.

Savannah would go with them. She was worried there could still be an additional EMP blast.

"I'll accompany you." Savannah said.

Cammy would make sure she stayed in front of Savannah as much as possible to shield her.

"We'll see." Cammy said.

Savannah wasn't sure if the driver was as incapacitated as the drone footage indicated. She didn't want their vehicle disabled.

"I want to park the vehicle a half mile back and walk in." Savannah said. "They may still have an EMP grenade."

Cammy was irritated even more now because the driver may attempt more trickery.

"I'll beat the information out of them where they are." Cammy said.

Savannah didn't doubt it.

"I want the drones to get out of range as we approach." Savannah said. "Be ready to go into standby if it even looks like the driver has an EMP grenade."

"Affirmative…." Richard and Michael said.

Savannah wanted it for everyone. She wanted to make sure all of the Terminators were protected. She looked at Cammy and she nodded back. It was clear Cammy was still steamed.

Cammy received an unusual request.

"'Coltan Overcast' has requested to withdraw and land near where we'll be." Cammy said. "It wants to go into standby."

Savannah thought it was a good idea. She wanted to give 'Coltan Overcast' some cover.

"Do it." Savannah said. "Have the other drones increase power plant output to mask what's happening."

As they approached, 'Coltan Overcast' landed behind a mound of dirt. Savannah walked up to it and touched it. She ran her hand over the repairs she'd done previously. It then shut down.

Richard and Michael both ran to the far side of where the driver cowered in the dirt.

Savannah and Cammy approached him from behind. The two drones which remained dropped some flares in a circular pattern around the driver and accelerated away from the area. By the time the driver realized what happened, there were only the four individuals who now surrounded them.

The driver quickly rolled over and threw an EMP grenade. The Terminators were expecting it. They all went into standby for different lengths of time in case there was a second one. It was all prearranged ahead of time.

There was a blinding flash. Savannah previously removed her night vision because the area was lit by flares.

The driver felt triumphant since the Terminators all fell.

The driver pulled out a knife and started toward Cammy. It was at that point they realized there was still someone standing and they were almost to where they were.

"NO!" The driver said as they looked around for their pistol.

It was nowhere to be seen.

"Put your hands up." Savannah said.

The driver saw the M4 was pointed right at their chest.

"Who are you?" The driver asked.

Savannah smiled. She held all the cards now. She didn't like the attitude of the anti-Metal group. She remembered the conversation she'd heard several of them carry out the other day. It still bothered her. She wanted it to be known exactly who and what she was.

"I'm a 'Metal Lover'." Savannah said. "I guess you know what happens next."

The driver let out a string of curses and threats.

There was some noise behind Savannah and 'Coltan Overcast' was above her and off to her side. Cammy stood up and brushed herself off.

They were joined by Michael and Richard a short time later. They moved in and roughly searched the driver.

Savannah turned to walk away.

New fear gripped the driver. He understood what was next.

"You can't leave me here with these things." The driver shouted. "You can't abandon your own kind. They're going to take over the world. We need to stop them."

Savannah walked away. She didn't look back.

'Coltan Overcast' went into a tight orbit around her. The other two drones which left earlier reappeared and backed up Cammy's team. They were mostly there for intimidation purposes.

Savannah reached the SUV and blew 'Coltan Overcast' a kiss. She started the SUV and drove it closer to where the interrogation was taking place.

She noticed 'Coltan Overcast' was right next to the SUV and running its power plants loudly. She understood why. Someone was being beaten to death. It was on her. She knew she needed to atone and be accountable for her actions, even if the 'dirty work' was carried out by others.

"I sanctioned it." Savannah said into her com. "I should hear it so I remember."

'Coltan Overcast' flew away. Savannah could hear the screams of the driver as they were slowly beaten into pulp. She tried to look once, but the flares were out. It was dark. The darkness couldn't mask the screams. It only seemed to make them worse.

Anna looked over at Young Allison as they listened to the interrogation.

"Is it really what you want to see and be a part of?" Anna asked.

Young Allison was trained to get results.

"I'll do what I need to do to protect John Connor and every Resistance member, human or Terminator." Young Allison said. "If it's what it takes. It's what I'll do myself."

Anna felt the same way herself. She was very displeased with the attitude of the anti-Metal group. She didn't understand why they couldn't see what the future held for all of them. It wasn't something to fear. It was something to embrace.

CamNet's Terminators remained where they were as they watched the van leave the area. They wanted to see if it picked up a tail. It was clear at least one group was still watching the old supermarket. There may be others. The drone continued to check around them for any abnormalities.

It wouldn't surprise them at all if it picked up another contact. They just needed to make sure they weren't the target of the other vehicle if it was spotted.

Earlier:

The two men in the van avoided the ambush set up for them. They weren't quite sure how there were no shots fired at them. Either way, they'd been able to elude the men in the black sedans. It was possible they were out of the vehicles and attempting to gain entry through the front. They would need to keep an eye out behind them to make sure they didn't pick up a tail.

"Do you think they'll come after us?" The first man asked.

The second man didn't have a clue.

"I don't even know how they found us to begin with." The second man said.

The first man thought about all the places they'd been to.

"We're on somebody's radar." The first man said.

The second man continued to look all around them and behind them.

"Of any of the groups we might encounter, I sure didn't expect it to be the Mob." The second man said.

The first man thought about a of course of action.

"We could always go back and see what they're doing." The first man said. "I don't think they would expect us to return."

It sounded like a really bad idea to the second man.

"They expected somebody to return this time." The second man said. "They were somewhere nearby to get there so quickly. There's probably more of them as well."

The first man was still upset about almost being ambushed.

"I think if we would have stayed inside of there any longer, even just another minute, it would have turned into a firefight for us." The first man said.

The second man was just glad they got away without any shots being fired.

"Let's just continue our checklist and not worry about it." The second man said. "We know to be on the lookout for any dark sedans as well."

The men in the white van headed towards their next location.

Lena and Tina resumed their loose pursuit of the white van. They attempted to determine what its next location was going to be.

"I think they're going to go by the lab next." Lena said. "It was connected to the old supermarket."

Tina checked her files.

"The lab was also connected to the port." Tina said. "The cruise ship is supposed to dock tomorrow. I think we want to act before anything else happens around the port."

Lena would rather wrap things up.

"Go through the phones and see what you can find out about the Syndicate." Lena said. "I think they're going to be a target for us as well."

They were both aware Young Allison was currently out in the field. More than likely when her operation concluded, she would want to go after the Syndicate herself if she knew they were currently engaged.

"We need to stay on top of this ourselves." Tina said. "Everyone else has their own operations to deal with. We were activated to run some interference, even if we work behind the scenes."

Lena glanced at her phone as she drove. She could see where the van was headed. It was to the old lab. She glanced over at Tina and she went through the four phones taken from the Syndicate thugs.

It appeared the night was far from over for them. It didn't really matter since they didn't need to sleep. They did need to keep in mind they may need to change their wheels at some point.

CamNet's Terminators tracked the white van and searched for any new targets around them. They also kept track of what the female Fanatic was up to. Currently she tailed three of the big rigs. The unknown female was still with her. It appeared they might have some problems of their own to deal with later on.

The two men in the truck headed across the street towards the gas station.

"Let's see what we can find." The first man said.

The second man checked around them as they crossed the street. He only saw one vehicle in the gas station.

"It doesn't look like much." The second man said.

The first man drove through the gas station and checked out the driver of the vehicle already there. He drove to the same spot he'd been to twice before.

"Let's see if anything's happening over here." The first man said.

He drove around the side to where the restrooms were located.

The second man was irritated by the earlier incident.

"We're a day late and a dollar short." The second man said. "We missed our chance earlier somehow. I still don't know how they got away."

The first man wanted to use the facilities and pick up a few snacks to take along with them. They used the restroom and headed to the convenience store. Neither of the men used the sink to wash their hands off.

They were better able to get a look at the occupants of the vehicle getting gasoline. It was a middle aged couple. The man was portly and bald. The female with him was even more portly.

"How would you like some of that?" The first man asked.

The second man looked over at the female in the car.

"The more cushion, the more pushing." The second man said. "At least it wouldn't be all used up."

The first man agreed. It didn't really matter who it was, once he was on top of them.

"We'll keep an eye on where they go." The first man said.

The two men collected a number of items inside the store. They put them on the counter.

The second man didn't know if they would continue their journey on the road or check into the motel across the street. He was still irritated the two females were able to elude them twice.

"You didn't happen to notice a couple of chicks in here earlier, did you?" The second man asked.

The attendant began to scan the items.

"I've seen a few sets." The attendant said.

The first man wanted to be a little more specific.

"They drove a beat up car." The first man said.

The attendant finished scanning all the items. He told them what the total was.

The second man gave the attendant some money.

"I remember them." The attendant said. "They were just in here."

The two men looked at each other.

"You mean a while ago, not recently." The second man said.

The attendant shook his head.

"It was just a short time ago." The attendant said. "It was only about ten minutes ago."

The two men wondered if they'd just missed them again somehow.

"Did they happen to say where they were headed by any chance?" The first man asked.

The attendant gave the second man back his change.

"Nope. I didn't ask either." The attendant said. "The less I know, the better."

The second man wanted a little more.

"Do you know which direction they went?" The second man asked.

The attendant looked a little wary.

"Are they friends of yours or something?" The attendant asked.

The two men quickly glanced at each other.

"I think 'or something' covers it." The first man said.

The attendant absentmindedly scratched the back of his head.

"I think they pulled back onto the main highway." The attendant said. "I don't know which direction they went. I never pay attention. There's too many people in and out of here all the time. The only person I worry about is my relief. As soon as they get here, I get to leave. This job sucks."

The two men collected their items and headed outside.

"It sounds like we just missed them." The second man said.

They heard the car at the gas pump start up. The portly couple drove away. They turned back onto the main highway and headed in the direction the big trucks went.

"Well, we know where one score is headed anyway." The first man said. "It would be nice to try something which isn't all used up for a change."

The second man was irritated the females eluded them again.

"Let's go back the direction we were going." The second man said. "It was a direction the car was going in the first place anyway."

The first man didn't think they had anything to lose at this point.

"We'll give it a shot." The first man said. "If we don't find them, I'm ready for a little extra."

The second man liked the idea.

"It's like I said, man." The second man said. "The more cushion, the more pushing."

Both men laughed as they got back into their truck. They drove around the back of the gas station and across the other side.

The two men in the pickup truck pulled back onto the main highway. They could see the taillights of the portly couple in front of them. Right now they were their 'insurance policy'.

There was no traffic behind them and no oncoming traffic. The female Fanatic turned her lights off. She drove at a rapid pace.

Jill was a little concerned. She'd driven without the headlights on as well earlier. It seemed a little scarier when someone else did it. She'd looked behind them.

"I don't see anyone behind us." Jill said.

The female Fanatic checked her mirrors again.

"I don't think they followed us, yet." The female Fanatic said.

She turned the headlights on.

After a short time, they could see tail lights in front of them.

Jill was a little worried about the 'yet' part.

"Do you think they will?" Jill asked.

The female Fanatic glanced in her rear view mirror.

"There's a good chance they'll be back on the road at some point." The female Fanatic said. "It seems they don't have anything better to do. It's probably how they survive."

Jill figured it to mean they robbed, abused and killed people.

"I don't plan on being one of their victims." Jill said.

The female Fanatic glanced over.

"The way I see it, if they try anything, we're going to end up with a better ride." The female Fanatic said. "It means just what it sounds like too."

Jill looked around the shabby car they were in.

"Is it the same way you got this car?" Jill asked.

The female Fanatic glanced over.

"Actually, it was." The female Fanatic said. "I ran into the owners twice. They tried to look at what was in the truck I was driving but I was away from it. The second time was the last time."

Jill looked at Jackie.

"Did you kill them?" Jill asked.

The female Fanatic glanced over.

"I did." The female Fanatic said. "A lot of people have died on this operation in the last few days. I can't really talk about it. I need to remind you again you're in grave danger when you're with me. I only allowed you to come along because of your desire to seek vengeance for what was done to you. I know what it's like. I've been in similar situations before. I can't deny you the right of the justice you seek. I can warn you it will probably not end well for you. I don't think it's going to end well for me. I'm going to see the operation through to the end or till my end. I need to stop these people."

Jill understood how dangerous it was.

"I still want to continue." Jill said. "Like I told you before, my life doesn't have much meaning. I'm not proud of what's happened or where I've ended up at. If I can help do some good, then the risk and the cost is worth it. I understand it might be my life. I just don't want it to be my body again first. I'm never ever going to be with a male again."

The female Fanatic glanced over.

"I thought the same thing as you did a couple of times." The female Fanatic said. "Sometimes someone can still 'reach' you."

Jill thought about what she said. In the glow from the dashboard lights, she could see Jackie looked sad.

"I can see it saddens you." Jill said.

The female Fanatic let out a slight sigh.

"They've all ended up dead." The female Fanatic said. "It applies to both the males and the females. It's a rough line of work."

Jill reached over and touched Jackie's arm again.

"There's always someone who understands." Jill said.

The female Fanatic reached over with her left hand and placed it on top of Jill's hand on her arm.

"Thank you." The female Fanatic said. "Why don't you climb in the back and get a little sleep. You've been up for a long time. I'll warn you if there's some type of danger or something is going to happen."

Jill climbed over into the rear seat and stretched out as best as she could.

The female Fanatic looked back a minute later. She could see Jill was sound asleep. She knew Jill had been up the entire time she'd been having her nightmares. She touched the anti drowsy tablets in her pocket. She didn't need any yet. They had a supply of water, energy drinks, and protein drinks as well as protein bars and energy bars. She really didn't want to need to dream again.

Lost In Thought

It seems past events
Are easily forgot
There's no hindsight
When there's a blind spot

Nothing is ever perfect
It was sure never Camelot
Maybe the lessons learned
Weren't the ones taught

What was the real outcome
Of the actions wrought
What did they leave in their wake
Was anyone not left distraught

Everyone wants to be more
Than just a cute mascot
Nobody wants to seem boring
Like some kind of robot

When one take more than the other
Think twice as to who is actually caught
Life continues at its own pace
Leaving behind those lost in thought

Nobody
