Sequel to Chapter 5 (KimiKagu, Pilot, Red)

"I'm not very good at this," Kagura said, holding up two sets of shoes.

"I trust your judgement," Kimiko replied, motioning to the first set.

Putting the second pair back, Kagura clicked a button inside the starlet's closet, replacing the rows of shoes with a collection of gowns. "I still don't know why you promoted me from pilot to personal assistant. I'm only good at flying."

Kimiko attached a band of plum beads to her stylish updo, twisting in the mirror in matching lingerie. "But this way, I get to see you more often, my love. Our secret getaways are no longer enough."

"It's still weird that you're showing up to this gala with your assistant instead of someone who matters."

"Which is why you will be introduced as my fiancée."

Kagura dropped the clothes she'd been holding, whirling around to face her, eyes wide. "What? Why?"

"Why not?" Kimiko scoffed, holding up her hand to show off her engagement ring. "You did ask me to marry you, did you not?"

Kagura sputtered. "Well, yes, but—"

"Then it is settled." Kimiko collected her outfit from the floor, having left her lipstick for last so she could steal a kiss before returning to her mirror. "I will only be attending these functions with you from now on."

Kagura bit her lip, then walked up behind her, placing her hands on Kimiko's shoulders. "Are you sure?"

Kimiko met her gaze in the reflection. "I have never been more sure of something in my life."
