Chapter 1426
Happy With You
Richard and Michael took the lead as they advanced on the location Cammy indicated. They'd been warned about the change in the com static. If the com signal cleared up, there was probably an EMP blast about to follow it. They knew to go into standby before it happened.
Cammy carried Savannah over the rocky terrain. It was the fastest way to get her to the location in the darkness. If there was an EMP set off, Savannah would be able to provide return fire until they could reboot. Hopefully the change in the com signal would allow them to enter standby before the EMP went off.
"I think it's just up ahead." Cammy said.
Richard and Michael halted. They were on the lookout for booby traps around the jamming device.
Cammy set Savannah down.
"Maybe one of you should go into standby now." Savannah said.
Michael volunteered. He wedged himself in between two rocks in an upright position so he would be harder to spot, but be ready for action quickly.
Savannah wanted to reassure him he wouldn't be left behind.
"I'll come back for you." Savannah said.
Cammy moved into the lead position now with Richard behind her. Savannah brought up the rear.
John Henry and Summer watched them from a drone image off to the side out of the jamming field.
"They're searching for the jamming device." Summer said. "They must have a good idea where it is."
John Henry went over previous satellite images of the area. He didn't see anything which looked obvious.
"There's nothing there I can see from the images I have on file." John Henry said.
He thought about sending some of the drones back in with specific locations to search for targets. It would put them in danger of being knocked down with an EMP blast.
Summer wondered what the power source was for the jamming device. There were no electrical lines in the area. It could be a battery or a power cell from a Terminator. If it was a generator, it would produce some kind of sound. Maybe it was what the team currently tracked.
John Henry switched his attention back to the progress of the Blackhawk and Young Allison's team.
"They're almost to the LZ." Summer said.
John Henry noticed she followed both operations.
"Yes." John Henry said. "They will split into two teams as they approach the target on foot."
Summer knew there should be another human with the second team.
"I think one Terminator with the second team should be carried in standby with the group." Summer said. "One of them will be able to be active sooner than the rest of them if there is an EMP."
John Henry was glad Al and Ed were able to go with them. It gave them two extra Terminators. If there was one Terminator in standby, they were still ahead.
"I'll forward the suggestion to Anna to relay to Young Allison." John Henry said. "What about the helicopter?"
Summer thought they'd already set it up.
"It will be shut down. Ken and Lou will alternate in and out of standby." Summer said. "It was what Allison – Young Allison, said earlier."
There was body cam footage from all of the Terminators and several drones overhead. The lowest one was at twenty five thousand feet. It was at the distance of the biggest EMP blast they'd witnessed so far from the group. She knew the anti-Metal group needed to worry about knocking down an airliner or helicopter if they used too big of an EMP. It would bring down the government on them to investigate it.
It was one reason why John Henry and CamNet rerouted all air traffic once they started an operation. If the enemy fired some type of anti-aircraft device at one of their drones, it could miss and lock onto a commercial aircraft of some type around them.
The best way to avoid any such problem was to reroute the air traffic. They also didn't want to chance a mid air collision during some type of evasive maneuvers. It was what John Henry currently did now at both of the locations where the girls were.
John Henry could see the forward progress of the truck was about to come to an end.
"They have reached their destination in the canyon." John Henry said. "They can't go any further."
Summer wasn't convinced.
"The blue truck has reached a destination." Summer said. "We don't know about the occupants."
They viewed the drone image as two people got out of it and covered the truck with some kind of netting to camouflage it.
"It doesn't look like they'll be leaving anytime soon." John Henry said.
Summer glanced over at him. She planned a little further ahead.
"None of them will be leaving there period." Summer said.
John Henry looked over at Summer. He could see the fact didn't seem to bother her.
John finished up and lay next to Cameron. They shared a long kiss.
"I love you, Cameron, and you love me." John said.
Cameron kissed John again.
"I love you, John, and you love me." Cameron said.
John looked at the clock. He was a little surprised at the time.
"Is it that late?" John asked. "Maybe I should have said, 'is it that early?'"
Cameron figured they were past Malibu. They weren't very far from the port.
"Yes. It will be sunrise in a few hours." Cameron said. "The ship will be docked soon."
John hadn't been able to get too much sleep.
"I'm not as tired as I thought." John said. "I think I'll feel it tomorrow, or actually it will be later today, since it's tomorrow already."
Cameron thought John would be able to share one more time before they docked. He needed some refractory time right now.
"I just want to say it was really great, John." Cameron said. "I could feel the love."
John really didn't know what to say about it other than what he felt.
"I love you, Cameron." John said. "I tried to convey it to you silently through our sharing right now."
Cameron kissed him again.
"You did." Cameron said. "I know you did the same thing as you shared with me in each of the virgin chassis too for the first time, before I turned all my programming back on. It made each 'first time' very special to me. I read in Cosmo most of the females don't finish on their first time since the male usually finishes too fast. You were able to make me finish every time."
John wondered how it went over with the file transfer to each of the Metal girls. It meant they 'felt' the same things Cameron did since it was her file which was transferred to them. He saw the way they all looked at him later on. He wondered if they were all in love with him now the same way Cameron was. He thought he'd better not ask. Maybe when they got back to the base he would. He didn't want any problems.
They'd all made it clear to him they wanted their 'one time' with him as promised. He was good with it. They'd made the point before Cameron took control of their chassis, and they all made the point again after Cameron was done using their chassis.
Cameron scanned John on the last kiss. She kept her hand there and continued to scan. She really wondered what he thought about right now. She really enjoyed the love they'd just shared. She wanted to give him a special treat. She didn't want to cause a problem by suggesting it. She was afraid it would.
"John, since our honeymoon is almost over, I want you to have something special." Cameron said. "I want to show my love for you is strong."
John wondered where she was going. He wanted a preemptive statement out there.
"I'll pass on you using Bob's or Jim's chassis." John said.
Cameron tilted her head slightly. It had been a serious consideration earlier. It no longer was.
"I decided against it." Cameron said. "Bob and Jim both asked me not to share the file with them if I used their chassis. It didn't seem they wanted the experience. I think it would have been quite eye opening for all of us."
John was relieved to hear it. He was sure it would have been a little more than 'eye opening'. Still, it was in the back of his mind to try it sometime. If it was actually Cameron in control, it was still an interesting concept.
"John Henry may want to try it when we return." Cameron said.
John didn't want to push it. He'd really like to keep things the way they were.
"I'm happy with you how you are now." John said.
Cameron gave him another kiss. It was a long one.
"Thank you." Cameron said. "I want you to have a special time, John."
John thought the special time he'd shared so far would be hard to beat.
"I already have with you, Cameron." John said. "I really appreciate everything you've shared with me and allowed."
Cameron liked it when everyone was happy.
"I want you to have anyone you want on the ship." Cameron said. "It's my gift to you. The gift is any Metal girl, or human female you may choose from."
John wanted them all. What Cameron did made him want more.
"There's one I really would like." John said. "She's beautiful and she's Hot."
Cameron wondered who it was. Maybe it was one of the human females. She was sure he would choose Holly or Sheila for one of the Metal girls. She didn't think it was any of the girls from the Resistance. She already told him they could share whenever they wanted to when they got back to the base. Maybe he was ready for Savannah. Wait, Savannah wasn't on the ship. She knew who it was.
"I'll have Sheila bring Leticia here unless you want to go to her suite." Cameron said. "Sheila can stay too if you want her too. You deserve the best."
She still scanned John. She could tell he was highly stimulated by the idea.
John knew she was scanning him right now. He didn't want to lie.
"It sounds great." John said. "I would like it sometime. I don't know if I'm ready for two at once. I'm pretty beat. I had someone else in mind."
Cameron thought it was Holly. Maybe it was Allison. She hoped it wasn't Riley. No. Riley was off the ship.
"Who is it?" Cameron asked. "Do you love-love them?"
John couldn't lie and not have her know.
"Yes." John said. "I shared a really special time with them."
Cameron wanted to know who it was.
"I'll bring them to you." Cameron said. "You'll have nothing but the finest."
John needed to be careful here.
"You'll bring them with no questions asked?" John asked. "I want them to stay here until we need to get ready to go."
Cameron looked at John intently.
"Yes." Cameron said. "It's what I've promised you. There won't be any questions or problems. They can stay until we need to disembark. You may share with them as much as you want."
John reached over and touched Cameron's cheek.
"I'm going to hold you to your word and promise." John started and then paused. "This is who I would like to be with…."
Cameron waited.
"Yes. Who is it?" Cameron asked. "I'll bring them now."
John was ready. He really hoped Cameron would understand.
"Thank you." John said. "This is who I would like to be with…."
Savannah followed Richard and Cammy. Cammy was on point. She knew they must be close to the jamming device. Her com signal was full of feedback.
Cammy stopped.
Richard and Savannah did as well.
Cammy moved forward. She bent down and did something. She reached back and handed Richard another EMP grenade. It was rigged with a trip wire.
She moved some rocks which were carefully stacked and found the jamming device. It looked like it was connected to a power cell from a Terminator.
She reached down to disconnect it.
Red flags started to go off in Savannah's mind right now.
"Don't touch it." Savannah said.
Cammy's hand stopped just above it.
Savannah considered the possibilities since it was a Terminator power cell.
"I think it's a bobby trap." Savannah said. "I think the power cell is rigged to blow up and take off the top of the hill."
Cammy wasn't sure how she made the determination. She didn't want to take any chances. It sounded severe.
Richard asked Savannah to stand back a little behind some bigger rocks. They probably wouldn't stop much.
Cammy studied the device in detail. There was a secondary power source to trigger some plastic explosive on the back of the power cell. It should be enough to rupture it and cause an explosion.
Savannah went over to watch them anyway. She wanted to see how the device was wired.
Cammy and Richard discussed it and were ready to disarm it.
Savannah took it all in. She thought about everything they'd found so far. She didn't think the fireworks were over yet either.
"There's a good chance once the jamming field is off, there'll be another EMP attack." Savannah said. "This whole set up is designed to kill people and incapacitate Terminators."
Savannah was ready to have CamNet initiate the cruise missile attack on the suspected hideout of the anti-Metal group. Now she even questioned the information. Maybe it was just a lie to lead them away from the real target. She would mull over it some more.
Cammy was ready to proceed anyway.
"Is there any remote way the device was started?" Savannah asked.
Cammy and Richard looked at it in detail. It didn't look like it.
"I believe it was manually started." Cammy said. "The booby traps were all manually rigged."
Cammy and Richard looked around the area further. It meant someone was up there to do it during the battle. It was possible they were still in the area. If they were, they were most likely being watched right now.
Now Savannah began to second guess herself.
"Maybe we're over thinking this." Savannah said.
Cammy didn't think Savannah over thought the power cell being a booby trap. She remembered how close she was to touching it.
"You were right about the power cell." Cammy said.
Savannah moved up next to Cammy and whispered in her ear.
Cammy nodded.
"Let me check down here." Cammy said.
Cammy got down on the ground and turned her face to the sky.
Savannah and Richard looked over the jamming device. Savannah told him what to look for. He went back to tell Michael when he rebooted.
Savannah glanced at Cammy. She hoped her idea would work.
John Henry noticed Cammy was now on the ground.
"I see Cammy's down." John Henry said.
Summer and John Henry tried to find out why.
"Have the drone at twenty five thousand feet zoom in on her." Summer said.
The drone zoomed in.
They both watched as her eyes flashed out a pattern of light.
"She is communicating in Morse Code." John Henry said. "She's asking us to do something."
Summer smiled. She was ready in anticipation of such an event. It was something she'd already set up.
The Blackhawk landed at the LZ on the backside of a hill two miles away from the target area. It came in low from the opposite direction and was behind the hills the whole time. It shouldn't have been detected.
The drone reports didn't indicate any increase in activity where the two from the anti-Metal faction went.
Ken and Lou would remain with the Blackhawk. They would take turns going in and out of standby.
Young Allison and Anna would be Team One with Randy, Brian and Mel. This way Young Allison's Detail was with her. They would take turns carrying her to the target area. It would allow them to move much faster over the dark mountainous terrain.
Steve and Tom would be Team Two with Al, Ed, Larry and Hank. It was determined Larry would carry Hank in standby in case they suffered an EMP attack. Once he was dropped after the EMP went off, he would reactivate in fifteen seconds.
The two teams started out and made rapid progress. They should have the location under direct observation in twenty minutes. They would slow their progress the closer they got to the objective.
Dan and Frank arrived at the location behind the diner where the two Resistance SUVs were parked.
They would have liked to have gone along, but the team was already moving away from the LZ.
They were notified there was a drone for support over them.
They took up a position on either side in back of the diner.
Dan remained in the van and Frank moved to the SUV Young Allison was in previously.
Cammy finished her visual transmission.
"Do you think they received it?" Savannah asked.
Cammy thought so.
"I saw a light flash twice two different times." Cammy said. "I'm sure it was from a drone."
Cammy got up and moved over to the device.
"What about Richard?" Savannah asked.
Cammy didn't want her to worry.
"Richard is in place with Michael." Cammy said. "I heard him."
Savannah looked at the depression Cammy was in a few seconds ago.
"Disconnect it and get down." Savannah said.
Savannah moved and lay in the trench. She heard her com signal clear up. She began to hear 'metal hail' strike around them as Cammy covered her with her chassis.
There were a series of explosions around them a few seconds later. The sound of the 'metal hail' grew closer before it was lost in the noise of the explosions.
Savannah knew the area around them was being targeted by gravity minigun fire and gravity missile attacks further out. They were sure they were being watched and they wanted to strike first.
Cammy was unmoving on top of her to protect her from any shrapnel. She was in standby.
The explosions stopped and there was a large flash of light. The 'metal hail' continued and there was a long scream which abruptly ended.
Savannah listened around them for any sounds. She'd turned off her com before she went in the trench. There was only silence around her.
Cammy was in standby on her hands and knees over Savannah so she could get out if she needed to do so without too much difficulty. She slid out from under Cammy now.
Savannah put on her night vision as she carefully looked up above the rocks. There was no movement. The drones overhead should all be watching for targets around them. There was only silence.
She reached up and turned her com back on. She quietly spoke with John Henry.
Savannah stood to see if there was an additional EMP blast. There wasn't. She didn't tell Cammy she was going to use herself as bait. Nothing happened.
Cammy stirred and rebooted a few seconds later. She saw Savannah give her 'a thumbs up' and turned her com back on. She filled John Henry in with rapid burst transmissions.
Richard joined them a minute later.
They collected the jamming device and power cell and prepared to move down the hill.
Savannah stopped where Michael was concealed and greeted him when he rebooted. He picked up Savannah and they rapidly moved down the hill back to their SUV. He didn't cop a feel. She didn't think he would. The Terminators were all very respectful of her.
There could hear a drone come in low again. It was 'Coltan Overcast' trying to provoke an attack again. Nothing happened.
Some other drones made rapid passes higher up. They scanned for any signs of life, movement, or any electrical activity. There was nothing.
Savannah was made aware most of the drones were down to a limited amount of minigun rounds. Most of their ordnance was expended in the multiple battles.
"What do you want to do about the anti-Metal base?" Cammy asked.
Cammy wanted the cruise missile strike.
Savannah wasn't so sure about the intel at this point.
"Let's go there and check it out first." Savannah said. "I think we have a clear path."
Savannah went over everything she wanted to do with John Henry. It was in case they were cut off again. They would already have a contingency plan in place.
John Henry looked over at Summer
"You heard what was discussed." John Henry said.
Summer would play things a little differently.
"I did." Summer said. "I'm not sure I agree with everything, but Savannah is the one on the ground. I would send more of the drones which are in reserve."
John Henry didn't want there to be a disagreement. He also wanted to give praise where it was due.
"It was one thing Savannah specifically said not to do." John Henry said. "You did some excellent targeting too. Hits were scored again."
Summer didn't want the credit. She was just a cog in the wheel.
"It was CamNet who did the shooting." Summer said. "We're all on the same team."
They were satisfied the second ambush was defeated in its entirety. Savannah's team was on its way out. Everyone was undamaged and operational.
"Now we need to watch the other two teams from the Blackhawk." John Henry said.
Savannah already set up contingency plans for the group on the hillside.
"I've given CamNet all the grid information." Summer said. "Since we know where our people are at, there shouldn't be any accidents on our part. Everything can change in an instant too."
John Henry was concerned they faced a similar situation as Savannah's team just experienced.
"What happens if we run into another jamming field?" John Henry asked.
Summer checked on the progress of her special request.
"The package is almost there." Summer said. "We'll use our own EMP the next time."
John Henry was worried about what else Summer may have requested.
He hoped there wasn't a Neutron Bomb on the way. Young Allison would need to be out of the area first.
A N-Bomb or ERW was designed to kill people. It would be able to get to most of them, even in armor or bunkers, with the type of radiation it emitted. They'd already dealt with an H-Bomb which was used to stop a C-Bomb from being built. The Cobalt radiation would have been very long lasting if the Skynet forces would have been successful. They weren't.
He wasn't sure why the last option popped into his head.
Mel set Young Allison down next to Anna.
"Do you have anything?" Young Allison asked.
Anna didn't look back.
"No." Anna said. "I don't even see a sentry."
The drone scans hadn't revealed any either.
Young Allison almost saw it as an open invitation.
"It isn't a good sign." Young Allison said. "They're either gone from here or they want someone to come and look for them."
Anna communicated with Steve.
"Steve reports the same thing on his side." Anna said.
It wasn't reassuring to either of them.
"What do we have in the way of a bunker buster?" Young Allison asked.
Anna decided to keep it simple.
"CamNet can gain access to any weapons in every major military's arsenal. It includes their nuclear weapons." Anna said. "It's a precaution to prevent Skynet from gaining control of them."
Young Allison was afraid she was getting ahead of herself. They needed to deal with what was right in front of them.
"I want to have two from each team go down for a closer look." Young Allison said. "They need to use maximum caution."
Anna wondered if Young Allison was going to go.
"Randy and Brian can take a look from our team." Young Allison said. "Steve can send two of his team on the other side."
Anna was surprised Young Allison delegated the responsibility.
"I thought you would want to go." Anna said.
Young Allison was concerned with the prospect of being the only one left standing after an EMP attack. It would be difficult for her to protect all of the Terminators alone.
"I do." Young Allison said. "I need to think of my troops. If something goes wrong, I may be the only one functioning."
The idea didn't sit well with Anna.
They received word Savannah's team defeated the second ambush and was out of the area. They were about to advance on what they believed was the anti-Metal base. It even seemed to be in doubt now.
Young Allison wondered why they didn't call in the cruise missile strike. She was just about to mention it when new information came in.
"Randy has contact." Anna whispered.
Young Allison knew Randy only left a few minutes ago. It couldn't be good. There must be an LP on the side of the hill.
"Make sure all the teams are warned." Young Allison said.
It wasn't a development which was anticipated. They hadn't expected to make contact this quick. The drone scans failed to detect an LP this far out.
Young Allison again wondered why Savannah hadn't called in the cruise missile attack. She decided to call her. It seemed there was something else in play.
Savannah drove down the dirt road. They neared the location they were given for the anti-Metal base.
Savannah was surprised to receive a call from Young Allison.
They both quickly went over their operations and where they were now.
"You don't think your target is what it's supposed to be?" Young Allison asked.
Savannah didn't think so and told her why. She knew there were two elaborate ambushes set up for them. They seemed to be there to kill all of them more than to protect a base. True, it's what an ambush was supposed to do, but she was sure they were led into them on purpose to keep them away from the real base.
"I think all we'll find is another ambush or a giant booby trap." Savannah said.
Cammy listened and still couldn't tell how Savannah made her determination. The evidence all led to what they originally thought. She'd helped beat the confession out of the man. His dried blood was on her clothes. It angered her again when she thought of what he'd said to Savannah. If he wasn't already terminated, she would go back and do it again.
Now with the new information from Young Allison, it appeared she may be at the real base. If there were LP positions set up and everything else was out of sight, it sure sent up a red flag.
John Henry and Summer listened to Savannah and Young Allison.
Summer hadn't stopped checking her screens.
"It's an old mine complex." Summer said. "All records and files indicating the fact have been removed from the public records."
Summer viewed aerial photographs from 1949 to come up with visual evidence. There was a mine there for gold in the late 1880's. It didn't last long. It was reopened during World War Two for the war effort. It was vastly expanded with a little to show for it. It was closed in 1945 as being 'non productive'.
A couple of years after the US Air Force was formed 1947, it decided to turn the location into a giant defense bunker in late 1949. It was in response to the Soviet Union exploding a small atomic bomb known as 'Joe 1'. It was a plutonium bomb much like the 'Fat Man' plutonium bomb. The yield was extremely low. It was still very deadly.
The effort to finish construction of the base was abandoned once the Soviet Union was able to get a functioning H-bomb, 'Joe 4' in 1953. The bunker system would not survive a direct hit from an H-bomb. They would need one deeper in the earth. Solid granite was preferred.
The US Air Force pulled out and the entrance was sealed. The four years worth of work was left as it was. It was sealed inside the side a mountain.
It appeared the anti-Metal faction found out about the location of it in the future. They came back in time to make use of it in its fight against Skynet and any 'Metal Lovers'.
John Henry quickly sent the information out.
Young Allison and her team were right on the outskirts of a major fortified base which appeared to be secretly reactivated. It was capable of withstanding a major attack on the ground with conventional weapons and even the limited use of nuclear weapons.
Savannah and Young Allison both received the information as they discussed what each of them discovered so far.
"Allison, you need to pull back." Savannah said. "It's a fortified installation. It can survive most nuclear attacks."
Young Allison could see the severity of it. There was probably also a bigger EMP set up there as well.
Young Allison reluctantly gave the order to withdraw using extreme caution. She planned to hit the base hard and she wasn't holding back on what was used. She received an 'eyes only' transmission from Summer on a selection of military weapons available for her use. It was quite an eye opener on what Summer made available through CamNet.
She could see it was an extreme response. She was reluctant to proceed without further consultation with Savannah.
Summer reminded her to fight to win, or there was no need to fight. It was what she'd taught Summer herself. They needed to hit the enemy hard and then hit them again even harder.
Young Allison asked Summer to coordinate with CamNet and have the maximum appropriate response ready to go. They would need to clear the area first.
She needed to consult with Savannah. She even considered contacting Cameron for her input. It seemed they would need to use extreme measures to take out the complex in its entirety.
One thing was for sure, she wasn't about to enter the complex on her own or allow Savannah to either. They would work on a different approach.
Savannah's team reached the outskirts of where the anti-Metal base was supposed to be located. She was sure it was a ruse.
Cammy suggested they call in the cruise missile strike and be done with it.
Savannah was aware those missiles might be needed elsewhere. She didn't know Young Allison planned to hit a lot harder than cruise missiles. She would find out soon enough.
Maybe it was time to stop fooling around and make a statement.
The white van continued back towards the old supermarket.
The first man could tell they were about three blocks away.
"We'll be there soon." The first man said.
The second man still had his reservations.
"I'm not so sure this is a good idea." The second man said.
The white van was two blocks away when they spotted something.
"There's a dark sedan over there." The first man said.
The second man cocked his AK-47.
"Look for the other one." The second man said.
The first man still concentrated on the black sedan he'd spotted. He was able to get a good look at the driver.
"Look who's behind the wheel." The first man said. "It doesn't look like a 'made man' to me."
The second man held his AK-47 ready. He did get a glimpse of the driver. He certainly didn't look like the other two men they killed at the lab.
"He looks like a bum." The second man said.
It seemed rather odd to the first man.
"I'm going to follow them". The first man said.
The second man held his AK-47 a little tighter.
"I figured it's what you'd say." The second man said.
The van fell in back of the dark sedan. They tried to stay a block in back of it. They followed it for approximately a mile until it turned down a side street. The van turned off its lights and pulled over to the curb without making the turn.
"See if you can tell if it stopped or not." The first man said.
The second man looked a little incredulous.
"I don't want to get popped by a couple of thugs." The second man said.
The first man was sure they stopped.
"It was only one person." The first man said. "You're such a sissy."
The first man got out and moved to the corner of the building. He only took his pistol with him. He peered around the corner. The dark sedan was parked against the curb. It was down a couple of hundred feet.
He could see some movement inside of the vehicle. He figured whoever was in it was searching it for anything of value. He wondered where the owners were actually at. He didn't think they were going to be too pleased about some homeless person boosting their vehicle.
Earlier:
A homeless man moved down the alley towards the old supermarket. He'd been passed out along the side of the road for a few hours. He was trying to make his way back towards his cardboard shanty.
He was a little surprised to see a black sedan parked against the rear of the building. It was behind an old strip mall near the old supermarket. He'd heard they found a lot of dried blood around the area. No one saw the Ogre after the report. The Ogre and his two stooges terrorized all of the disadvantaged people in the neighborhood. He was especially brutal to the females.
He watched the sedan for a few minutes. He couldn't see any movement in it, or around it. He moved a little closer. He could see inside of it. There was no one in it. It was a fairly new car. He knew the owners must be around somewhere. He moved a little closer and looked in the passenger's window. He could see the keys were in the ignition. He wasn't into auto theft, but he knew of a local 'chop shop' which would pay a few hundred dollars for a vehicle with the keys. They usually weren't reported as stolen as quickly as ones were people broke into them and hot wired them.
The homeless man took a look around and moved to the driver's side. He tried the door, it was open. He quickly got in and turned the key. The car immediately started. He put it into gear and drove down the alley. He drove in back of the old supermarket. He was a little worried when he spotted an almost identical vehicle parked ahead. He continued on past it. He didn't see anyone in it either. He made a right turn at the first street and then another turn as soon as he could.
He drove a few blocks away and went around the corner by some buildings. He pulled over to the curb and shut the car off. He quickly searched the interior for anything of value. He was a little concerned when he found some loaded magazines for a pistol. He didn't find any weapons in the interior. He decided to look in the trunk.
The homeless man got out after he tripped the trunk release. He moved to the back of the car and lifted the trunk lid. As soon as he did he dropped the two loaded magazines and ran from the vehicle. The driver's door was still open. The keys were still in the ignition.
The second man watched the first man look around the corner. He thought it was a big risk. Then again, he only needed to remind himself the other man in the dark sedan came after them at the old lab.
"Do you see it?" The second man asked.
First man motioned for him to be quiet. He watched as the person got out of the vehicle. He noticed they'd popped the trunk open. He watched them move away from the open driver's door and go to the back of the vehicle. He lifted up to the trunk lid and dropped something. He immediately ran away.
'What the hell?' The first man thought.
He looked back towards the van.
"Drive the van around the corner in two minutes." The first man said.
The second man looked around nervously. He still clutched his AK-47 tightly. He'd been on the lookout for any vehicles around them. So far nothing had been moving.
"Now what is it?" The second man asked.
He watched the first men disappear around the corner with his pistol in his hand. He quickly moved over into the driver's seat and started the van. He looked at the little clock on the radio. He continued to check his mirrors and his surroundings.
The first man went around the corner with his pistol in front of him. There was no sign of the homeless man. He'd last seen him running down the street. He moved quickly towards the dark sedan. There was a little light on the trunk lid which illuminated the cargo space. He could see there was something in it as he approached.
The closer he got he quickly realized it was a body. No, it was two bodies. They'd both suffered a head wound. He looked around and closed the trunk lid with his elbow. He started to move away when his foot hit something. It sounded metallic. He looked down and could see two dark objects on the ground in back of the sedan. He reached down and picked one up. It was a loaded magazine. He picked up the other one. It was a loaded magazine as well. He figured it was what the homeless man dropped when he ran from the vehicle.
He moved up to the interior and looked inside. He could see there was blood on the front seat. He could see the keys were still in the ignition. He closed the driver's door with his knee. The van came around the corner as he did.
The van pulled up next to him. He quickly got in the passenger side.
"Let's roll." The first man said
The second man continued to look around him as he drove.
"What happened to the driver?" The second man asked. "I didn't hear you cap him."
The first man looked for the homeless man as they continued down the street.
"There were two bodies in the trunk." The first man said. "It looked like guys from the Mob."
The second man was a little confused.
"Are you telling me some homeless guy wasted two Mob thugs and stole their car?" The second man asked.
The first man wasn't sure what happened. By the homeless man's reaction when he spotted the bodies, he didn't think so.
"I think someone else did." The first man said. "It didn't look like he knew they were there until they opened the trunk. The guy ran like hell. I half expected to see him lying on the ground dead from a heart attack."
The second man considered everything he just heard.
"Are you saying there's another player on the field besides us?" The second man asked.
The first man knew there were other players.
"We've seen the results of the actions of probably more than one group of players since we've been on our mission." The first man said.
The second man became even more nervous. It meant not only did they need to worry about the Mob but another group, probably from the future as well. They were in close proximity to them. It was in real time. It wasn't after the fact.
"We should clear out." The second man said.
The first man wanted to know a little bit more.
"Drive back by the old supermarket." The first man said. "I want to see if the other sedan is still there."
The second man looked over at him in disbelief.
"You really do have a death wish don't you." The second man said.
The first man thought it was part of their job. They were sent to ascertain what was what with all the reports they'd received.
"It will determine whether we go to the port or to Palm Springs." The first man said.
The second man reluctantly drove back towards the old supermarket.
"If somebody capped these guys, aren't they still going to be around?" The second man asked.
The first man wasn't sure what to think at this point.
"Stop a block out and I'll walk up and check." The first man said. "You can stay in the van and cuff your dummy."
The second man stopped the van a block away from the old supermarket. The first man got out and headed for the alley on foot. He'd only been in the alley for short time when his foot bumped something.
CamNet's Terminators continued to tail the white van. They followed the exploits of the female Fanatic and where the big rigs were going.
They were a little surprised when they watched one of the black sedans drive away from the rear of the old supermarket. They watched as the white van spotted it and followed it. They saw what happened when the car thief got out to look in the trunk. They observed what occurred next with the two men from the white van. The two men soon continued on their trek back to the old Supermarket. One of the men was out of the van and in the alley.
Lena could see it was going to be a problem.
"He's going to find the other sedan and figure out what happened." Lena said.
Tina understood what she meant.
"He'll know the sedans arrived after they did and someone killed the thugs in them while they were in the building, left them there and didn't do anything to them." Tina said.
Lena figured the two men would know they were being tracked. She checked the Drone image over the rear of the old supermarket.
"Wait." Lena said. "It looks like we have an out."
CamNet's Terminators watched as a new development took place. It wasn't the only one. There were some new developments with the female Fanatic as well.
The female Fanatic smiled. She believed Jill would fight with her until the end. SkyMaster would be served. She spotted the tail lights of one of the big rigs up ahead. Ascension was probably near.
The big rig turned off of the main highway. She'd remained as far away from it as she could see the tail lights. She didn't see any tail lights in front of it. She assumed the other two trucks made the turn as well. She hadn't seen them from the distance they were at.
She pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the lights. She took out several of the phones and tried them. None of them worked.
Jill watched Jackie try over half a dozen phones she had on her. She pulled them out of several of the pockets of her cargo pants. None of them worked. She tried the phone Jackie had given her earlier. It didn't work either.
"That's a lot of phones." Jill said. "Did you take them off of the men you killed earlier?"
The female Fanatic didn't see the need to mince words.
"These are from some of my most recent endeavors." The female Fanatics said. "I killed each of the men whose phone I now have. I need to see what other information I can get off of them. I wanted to look at the satellite photos of the area."
Jill looked at her phone. She realized the previous owner of it was dead. She realized the man who'd possessed it before was just like the men who'd abused her. She felt a sense of retribution. She held justice in her hand.
She thought about what Jackie said about the satellite photos. She opened up the glove compartment and pulled out a map she'd seen earlier.
"I found this a while ago." Jill said.
The female Fanatic quickly opened the map. It was of the county they were in. She wanted to see where the road led to the big trucks took.
Jill looked at the map from off to the side. She was able to spot the small community they passed through earlier.
"Where does the road go?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic glanced over in the direction in the darkness. She could make out some hills in the distance.
"It looks like it's an old mine road." The female Fanatic said.
Jill wondered how she could tell. It was still dark.
"How do you know?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic glanced over at Jill.
"It's the name of the road on the map." The female Fanatic said. "Someone wrote it in with a pen. It's what they called it anyway."
Jill noted something else about the map as she glanced at it.
"What are all those little marks which look like a 'plus sign' or an 'X'?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic noticed them as well. They were all near the various roads in the area. None of them were very far from the highway.
"I have a feeling they're where the two Scavengers we killed earlier, probably attacked or buried people." The female Fanatics said. "It was probably both."
Jill felt a tightness in her gut. She could see there were over a dozen of them. There might even be as many as twenty. She really didn't want to know.
"I want to go back and kill them again." Jill said.
The female Fanatic wanted to keep her new recruit motivated. She remembered to use Jill's own terminology when she referred to the Grays.
"The terrorists we're tracking are just like them." The female Fanatic said. "They need to be stopped. What they plan to do is much worse. You do realize they were going to kill you when they left. Those men who were there to abuse you when I arrived were probably the ones who were going to do it. Some of them like to kill their victim at the same time they finish. They're known as a 'double veteran'."
Jill cringed at the thought of the men abusing her earlier. She knew two of them tried but couldn't finish. It was the same thing every time they abused her. She wondered if they would be the ones who would kill because they couldn't get the gratification they sought. It wasn't her fault. She was the one being used against her will.
"I want to kill as many of them as possible." Jill said.
The female Fanatic hoped to give her the opportunity to do so. She checked around her for any other vehicles. None were spotted. She figured the older couple they'd passed earlier should make their appearance soon. She pulled completely off of the highway behind some shrubs. It wasn't long until she spotted the headlights coming behind them. There were actually two sets.
She inventoried the weapons they'd taken from the two men they'd killed. There was a revolver with three live cartridges in it. There weren't any others. There were three empty chambers in the cylinder. There were two knives. One of them was a little bigger than the other. It was the one she'd taken from the big man.
"You'll get your chance." The female Fanatic said. "I'll remind you again, it's probably not going to end well for either of us. You don't have to come. You can take the truck and go."
Jill wanted retribution. She wanted vengeance.
"Let me have one of the knives." Jill said. "Let me have the big one. You have an even bigger one."
The female Fanatic wanted to remind her of her suspicions.
"This is probably the knife which removed the items you looked at in the bag from their previous owners." The female Fanatic said.
Jill took it anyway.
"I'd like to use it in the same fashion on the men who abused me." Jill said. "I should have done it when I had the chance when you freed me. I think I was still in a state of shock then."
The female Fanatic went over the map with Jill. She told her what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. They most likely wouldn't be able to return to the truck. They would need to make their approach on foot to remain undetected.
Happy With You
Look around where you're at
Now is the future's preview
Everything going forward spirals together
It's part of life's corkscrew
Try to stay with the truth
No one wants to hear what's untrue
It's time to grow a pair
To allow tomorrow to debut
Everything becomes more complicated
With everything two construe
No one wants everyday
To feel like some kind of interview
Remember who is with you now
Who do you want the love sent to
Don't you want to feel it returned too
One is stronger when there are two
Allow your feelings to renew
Remember where they grew
It's more than just residue
I'm very happy with you
Nobody
