"There's a moment between a glance, and a kiss, where the world stops for the briefest of times." - A series of unrelated one-shots to celebrate my 100th fic on Ao3, based off a pairing, occupation, and a colour (with a kiss).
Part 3 of Chapter 18 (InuKog, Lifeguard, Blue) and Chapter 35 (InuKog, Lifeguard, Orange)
Kouga leaned against the pole of his net, having just finished collecting the last tree debris from a summer storm. Cleaning pools wasn't the most glamorous job, but everyone on the lifeguard roster had to do it.
They'd had to shut down the lap pools as a safety precaution, but the weather report for the rest of the week was free and clear, so things were looking up. Giving the clear waters one last glance, he headed back to the locker room, eager to get home.
"Daddy!" Small hands rattled the chain link fence, Daiki's chubby face pressed through the metal.
Kouga grinned, backtracking. "Hey, buddy! Didja come visit me all by yourself today?"
Daiki's face scrunched up. "No, Daddy. That's silly."
"Oh yeah?" He bent down, still grinning. "Why's that?"
"I'm not allowed to drive yet. I'm still little."
Kouga snorted. "That doesn't matter. You'd probably be a better driver than Papa anyway."
"Just 'cause it's true, doesn't me ya gotta point it out, jackass." Inuyasha walked up behind the pup, ruffling his hair. "And I told ya to wait by the car."
Daiki poked his arm through the fence. "Swimming!" Their expressions softened. Daiki had been so afraid of the water not even a year ago they'd both been worried it would turn into a full-fledged phobia. But after a few lessons, and trips to the beach, he'd finally overcome his fear.
Now they had to keep an eye on him around any bodies of water because he usually jumped in before they were ready.
"I can't let you in here. I just finished cleaning," Kouga said, tugging on his nose to keep the tears at bay. "But maybe next time."
Daiki pouted but nodded, turning to Inuyasha and motioning that he wanted to be picked up. "Kiss Daddy, then snack."
The tips of his ears turned pink, but he growled playfully, nipping at the boy's neck until he laughed. "You're too young to tell me what to do, squirt."
Daiki giggled. "But you like Daddy's kisses."
Kouga straightened with a smirk. "Yeah, Daddy, you like my kisses."
"Those ain't the kisses he was talkin' 'bout, dickhead."
Daiki patted Inuyasha's face. "No names. Only kisses."
"I've got a better idea," Kouga said. "I'm almost done, so gimme five minutes, and then I can give you both kisses." The boy cheered, telling Inuyasha not to move so they wouldn't miss any, and Kouga quickly cleaned up, giving Inuyasha a great view of his sierra swim trunks before staying true to his word.
