Chapter 1472
Dozed Off
Gail and Hanna wanted to take some of the heat off of Savannah before Cameron started to drag her around again since she was back.
They were directed to a residential location by John Henry. The location was about a future Gray. They'd just observed a van drive into a garage at the target location. They both exited their SUV and headed for the house.
Hanna reconsidered what they were doing.
"Are you sure you don't want to wait for darkness?" Hanna asked.
Gail didn't think it made a difference. It should be a termination mission.
"We're here now." Gail said.
They wore their vests under windbreakers to hide them. The vests would prevent most torso damage, especially to their breasts. None of them wanted the horrific damage which happened to Cameron's breasts in the past.
Gail and Hanna seemed to have a lot more free time now since Jesse and Claire were together most of the time. They were both willing to work more assignments. Hanna liked to go with Ally and Sheila when she could. Gail liked to be with Hanna because she reminded her of Savannah, even though she was the same sheath appearance as Vanna. It was close enough. A few extra years of 'age' didn't matter to her. All the 'good things' were the same.
Hanna thought there should be some movement by now.
"I haven't seen them leave the garage yet." Hanna said.
Gail looked at a satellite image of the location.
"It's actually attached to the house." Gail said.
They arrived at the gate. They gave it a 'once over' to determine its status.
"I don't think it's alarmed." Hanna said.
Gail reached over the gate and lifted up the end which rode in a track. It popped out of the track. She moved it to the side by about a foot and a half. They both squeezed through the opening. She popped the gate back in place.
They were on the far side of the property. They quickly moved to the side of the garage and listened. It was quiet inside. There was a door on the side of the garage. It was locked.
Hanna moved to the far end of the garage and peeked around the corner. She could see the back porch and maybe the kitchen window on the far side. There was no sign of movement. She moved back to where Gail was at.
Gail looked over the side of the garage while Hanna was away. She formulated a plan.
"There's a vent above the door." Gail said. "Let me lift you up so you can look inside."
Hanna tried to be a little playful.
"You just don't want to 'cop a feel' do you?" Hanna asked.
Gail wanted to continue the operation.
"No." Gail said. "I can do it later."
Hanna suppressed a laugh. Gail took some things very seriously sometimes.
Hanna stood in front of the door. Gail moved behind her and carefully grabbed her around the waist and lifted her up in the air.
She was able to look inside the garage through the vent. The van was in the middle of the garage so everything on the other side of it was blocked. The back of the van was open. She could only see the rear door was open but not what was inside of the van.
Hanna motioned for Gail to go the vent closer to the front of the garage. It would be closer to the back of the van inside. She thought Gail would set her down but she carried her by the waist up in the air to the next vent.
The view there was better. She still couldn't see inside the back of the van but she could see if anything was taken out of it or put inside of it. She could also see the door which went inside the house. It was open.
She told Gail what she'd observed so far. It was done at a low decibel tone which only a Terminator could hear. It wasn't much.
Hanna motioned for Gail to set her down. She motioned for Gail to stand under the vent and she lifted her this time. She made sure she 'copped a feel' before she did just to be playful. They were some really big 'jugs' Gail packed. Those were the kinds of things which happened when she was out with Ally and Sheila. They liked to have fun.
John already made up his mind to enter Jesse's darkened room and go for it. He could barely make out her naked form on the bed. He planned to quietly slip inside, take off his clothes, start her up, and then go for it. He wanted it all to be a surprise.
He didn't know it was Sarah who was in there waiting for Jesse.
It would most likely prove to be a memorable experience for both of them.
John lightly moistened his lips in anticipation of what he was about to do. He opened the door to slip inside….
Sheila, Ally and Cammy shared with Leticia, Mary and Laura. They'd all switched partners several times and were back to who they'd started with at this point.
The Metal girls knew to not push it so hard and try to seem a little more 'human'. It was hard to do. Their natural ability was to go all out, without the need to stop or rest.
Sheila and Leticia were ready for some pillow talk.
Leticia needed to rest for a few minutes.
Sheila needed to make sure she didn't push it too far again. She certainly didn't want Mary or Laura to see her resuscitating Leticia.
Leticia was totally in love with Sheila who she knew as 'Sue'. She wanted desperately to be 'Sue's' submissive. She would do everything she wanted, whatever way she wanted it done, whenever she wanted it done. She needed to focus on the moment. She didn't know if it was just a moment in time, or if it set a precedent going forward.
"Is this a one time thing, Sue?" Leticia asked.
Sheila wished she knew. She was aware she brought danger into Leticia's life. It was the same thing Sarah and Cameron both warned John about regarding Future Riley. She knew the circumstances were a little different. The danger wasn't. It was real and it was always there.
"I really don't know." Sheila said. "It's complicated."
Leticia understood there was a certain amount of mystery to the group. It wasn't just 'Sue'. It was all of them. She knew there were some unexplained differences between some of the girls at times. She didn't know how to interpret it. She would take whatever she could get from 'Sue'. She didn't know why it couldn't be more.
"Why?" Leticia asked.
Sheila felt a certain amount of frustration. There was no way for her to explain it. It was the same way there was no way for John to explain what happened in Mexico to Future Riley. The difference there was, Future Riley already knew what was really happening. Leticia didn't.
"It just is." Sheila said.
Leticia looked at Sheila with her big eyes. There was something specific she wanted to know. She didn't know any other way to say it, other than to just say it.
"Will I ever know your 'real name'?" Leticia asked.
Sheila looked over at Leticia. She wanted to tell her. She wanted to tell Leticia her name was Sheila. She knew she better not. She tried to brush it off.
"A name is just a designation." Sheila said. "It can be anything from 'hey you' to 'Unit 69' to '007'."
Leticia was sure 'Sue' was a 'secret agent' of some type.
"What do you really do?" Leticia asked.
Sheila didn't want to get into details. There wouldn't be any good answers for any of Leticia's questions. She didn't want to lie to her, but she would if necessary. She would rather avoid the issue.
"Let's not go there." Sheila said. "We can enjoy our time together."
It's what they did.
There'd been similar conversations from Mary and Laura with Cammy and Ally.
It was understandable the human girls wanted deeper relationships. They needed to know a little more about who they were involved with and where the relationships could go. What happened on the ship was more than a fling. It was fueled by the way the girls all had their cabins upgraded to suites and their financial worries were taken care of. It was clear it was a deeper level of concern for the human girls from the Metal girls.
The Metal girls were aware they would need to be out of there before dinner time. If they only ate a bite or two, it was going to stand out as a red flag with the questions the girls already raised about them.
It didn't look like they would be able to pull an 'all nighter' tonight.
Bob, Jim, Derek and Kyle drove away from the welding and machine shop area.
Kyle looked back as they pulled away.
"Watch for a tail." Kyle said.
Bob and Jim already planned to.
"Affirmative…." Bob and Jim both said.
Derek and Kyle smiled at each other. It just never got old.
They'd established the two places were Skynet related and being set up to produce HK sub assemblies of some type. Nothing appeared to have started yet.
Previously they'd destroyed a few big locations where everything was being done at one time. It was with the old newspaper plant where they'd found out they were dealing with sub assemblies and an assembly line was being set up at the location to put everything together.
They didn't want to take the two places down yet. They wanted to see if they could find out where they were able to get a hold of Coltan. They hadn't spotted any, but they were sure there would be some soon.
John Henry and CamNet went over the information Jim and Bob forwarded them.
CamNet dispatched two drones once she looked over everything.
Summer made sure CamNet sent some drones where all the team members were at.
John Henry looked around and only saw Jan playing the computer games he'd set up for her. He wasn't sure where Summer was at. CamNet still blocked his access to what was happening inside of the base.
Sarah drifted in and out of sleep. She waited for Jesse to return to her room.
The room was dark but she thought she heard someone at the door. She waited a little bit but dozed off again.
She dreamt Jesse arrived and started right in on her. She could almost feel it as she dreamt. It felt so good. It was just like real….
Allison, Vanna, Holly and Cam left the janitorial front for the 'Bottomless Maids' outfit.
Vanna took the keys away from Allison and drove herself.
Allison felt insulted. She didn't want to get in an argument with Vanna since they were on a mission.
Cam and Holly updated CamNet on what they'd observed.
It looked like it would be an 'off the books' operation through CamNet later on. There was probably a shakedown involved at some level.
CamNet updated Cam on her findings.
"It looks like Cameron will need to deal with this on her own." Cam said.
Vanna drove much safer than Allison did. There were no major traffic violations.
Allison already knew Vanna was a better driver than she was. She didn't want to admit it. She thought her style was just different. She believed people needed to be a little more proactive out on the road rather than just simply follow between the lines like sheep. She thought about Cam's statement. It wasn't a pleasant thought.
"We did sort of leave in a hurry." Allison said. "It didn't seem like they wanted us to go."
Based on previous sex trafficking operations, there was usually a little more involved with the 'workers'.
"Did you want to stick around for an 'interview' with the boss?" Cam asked. "I'm sure there was a 'casting couch' there."
Allison was repulsed at the idea, and a little sad at the same time. It made her think about society in the past, the present. Things were different in the future. People needed to do things to survive. In the past, the present, there were other avenues available for them.
"No." Allison said. "It's a shame there are so many who are willing to do it."
Vanna looked through the Bible before. It seemed like four million words but it was less than a fifth as long. It was filled with stories which were no different from what people did today. Humans hadn't reformed much in a few thousand years.
"It's been the same from the beginning of time." Vanna said. "If someone can't get something for free, they try to buy it. If they can buy it or afford it, they take it."
Allison quickly looked at Vanna and her earlier animosity was quickly forgotten. Vanna knew it better than anyone.
Vanna looked in back of them. She'd spotted the same vehicle through several turns.
"I think we have a tail." Vanna said.
Cam and Holly became combat alert.
Young Allison went after the target even more aggressively than Savannah did with the Mitchell.
Young Jesse took it all in. She could see when it was her turn, she would need to act as Savannah did. As she became more confident, she could push things a little like Young Allison did. She wanted to make sure she was proficient.
Young Allison was about to relinquish control to Young Jesse. Savannah spoke with Cameron.
Cameron talked to Camille.
Camille asked Young Jesse for her seat.
Young Jesse quickly unstrapped.
Camille strapped into the copilot's seat.
Young Jesse sat on the jump seat in back of Young Allison now.
Young Allison saw what they were going to do. She watched Camille get situated. She glanced over at her.
"You got it?" Young Allison asked.
Camille glanced over and nodded.
"I got it." Camille said.
Camille did a series of maneuvers to get the feel of the plane. She already possessed all of the files Cameron had related to the Mitchell's operation. She wanted to create her own.
Young Allison looked back at Young Jesse. She unstrapped and traded places with Young Jesse. She now sat next to Savannah in the other jump seat. They looked at each other and smiled. Today was Young Jesse's day.
Anna popped up into the top turret for a quick look around them. Cameron was ready to reload if necessary. Anna joined Cameron after she verified everything was all clear.
Camille brought the B-25 around in a slow turn and made sure things were a little off for Young Jesse when it would come time to attack the target. It was a test.
Camille looked at Young Jesse.
"You got it?" Camille asked.
Young Jesse swallowed hard. She wanted to do a good job.
"I got it." Young Jesse said.
Young Jesse quickly got everything situated and made sure everything was as it was supposed to be. It made her a little nervous to know all of the eyes would be on her. She would just follow her training and instructions. It was what the training was all about.
"I want to get the feel from the pilot's seat before I do the target practice." Young Jesse said.
Young Jesse proceeded to put the plane through another series of maneuvers.
Cameron was very pleased at Young Jesse's desire to be as proficient as possible. It was the same inner fire everyone in the Resistance shared.
It didn't appear to Bob they'd drawn a tail. At least not yet they hadn't. The idea made him wonder about it. He could only think of one reason why they didn't have one. It was clear the men in both the machine shop and the welding shop had their suspicions about them.
He pulled into a fast food place.
Derek and Kyle looked at each other.
"I think we're good." Derek said.
Kyle didn't think it was necessary either.
"I am." Kyle said. "You can drive out the back."
Bob was there for more than food. He wanted a plausible explanation for stopping.
"I want to check to see if they tagged our vehicle." Bob said.
Everyone looked a little on edge with his statement.
John Henry contacted them with welcome news.
"You have two drones for support." John Henry said. "They're at altitude and over you right now."
Derek was glad they had their drones. He wasn't sure if anyone else did as well. He was worried about an enemy drone.
"Is there anything in the air around us?" Derek asked. "I mean like a small drone."
John Henry said he would check further.
Bob pulled into the drive through lane. It would give them cover for stopping if they were being tracked with a tracker or small drone.
"What do you want to order?" Bob asked.
Kyle figured something light would be good. They were already there so they might as well make the most of it.
"Just get a couple orders of small fries and two small drinks." Kyle said.
Derek agreed with the small order. It would be just the fact they were in the 'drive-thru' line and were given a sack with food in it and a few drinks.
Bob placed the order.
As soon as they went under the overhang of the drive through section, there was a roof over the top of them. Jim got out and looked underneath the vehicle and in the fender wells. He checked everything twice and got back in.
"I can't find anything." Jim said.
Bob moved forward to the pick up window. He gave the worker a twenty dollar bill and told them to keep the change. He handed the fries and drinks back to Kyle and Derek.
They drove back onto the street.
Kyle offered some fries to Jim and Bob. They both declined. He knew they would.
Bob wanted an update from John Henry.
"What about anything over us?" Bob asked. "Did anything show up?"
John Henry looked at the drone images again.
"I still don't see anything around you." John Henry said.
It seemed like a good idea to get some new wheels to Derek.
"Let's hit the mall and dump this tub." Derek said.
Kyle thought it was about time to do so.
"I'm all for it." Kyle said.
Bob headed for the mall. He kept a careful watch in his mirrors. He could see Jim monitored the drone images above them. One drone operated directly above them in a tight orbit. The other one orbited in a wider circle around them. The goal was to spot any threat, before it actually became a threat.
Gail was a little surprised when Hanna copped a feel. She was lifted up and looked in the vent herself.
While she watched, she saw a man exit from the connecting door to the house. He closed the rear doors on the van, turned off the lights, went back inside and closed the door into the house.
Gail told Hanna what she saw.
Hanna figured they'd missed what happened.
"Whatever he took out, is in the house now." Hanna said.
Gail could only think of one reason why he would need to make two trips.
"His hands must have been full when he did it because he needed to come back out and close the rear doors on the van." Gail said. "It must have been something big or heavy."
Now they both wondered what it was.
Hanna usually operated in the dark on Cameron's 'off the books' operations.
"Do we go in for a closer look, or wait until it's dark?" Hanna asked.
Gail thought over the possibilities. The man shouldn't know what a Terminator was.
"It's a future Gray. They may not know anything about Skynet yet." Gail said. "They shouldn't know about us. I doubt they have any weapons which can bring us down."
Hanna thought about some of the other individuals they'd encountered who were stooges of Skynet and didn't know. There were many ways for Skynet to get its hooks into people.
"They could be working for Skynet now and not know it." Hanna said.
Gail spotted a small external control box which used a manual code to open the garage door.
"Let's see if we can open the garage door with this." Gail said.
She looked at it and saw only three numbers were ever used. She started pushing buttons. In five minutes the door opened for her.
They quickly slipped inside and pushed the button by the door into the house to close the garage door.
They heard the sound of two voices approaching the door into the house. They quickly moved to the far side of the van as the door to the house opened. Someone inside must have heard the garage door open and close. They might have felt the vibrations too.
They could hear one individual, and then another one.
"See, man, I told you it wasn't nothing." The first voice said.
The second man was still concerned.
"I thought I heard something." The second voice said. "Let me check."
The first man didn't think it was a problem.
"Dude, you're parodied." The first voice said.
The second man wanted to make sure there was no one else in the garage. He thought of the best way to do it.
"I don't want to get caught." The second voice said. "Go around the front of the van and I'll go around the back of it. I want to check the side door."
The first man thought it was totally unnecessary. It was a bunch of ado about nothing.
"Relax, man, you're too high strung." The first voice said. "Don't worry so much."
The second man believed it was better to be safe than sorry.
"It's how I stay out of the joint." The second voice said. "Believe me, you don't want to go there."
Gail and Hanna went underneath the van as the two men started around it.
The men met on the far side. The first man checked the side door. It was locked.
The first man was a little disgusted by the whole procedure.
"See, dude, I told you it wasn't nothing." The first voice said.
The second man went and looked under the van. There was nothing there.
"OK." The second voice said. "Let's go back in."
Gail and Hanna were already inside the house at this point. As soon as the men were at each end of the van, they came out from underneath it. They could watch their feet. They went in the open door back into the house. They'd left a little surprise for the two men.
Samantha watched Precious rest. She received a communication through her com. She checked Precious over, listened to Riley still pleasuring herself in her room, and slipped outside with the baby carriage.
John was about to enter Jesse's room when he heard something. It was Summer. He figured she'd come to see one of the girls. She was at the end of the hall now.
'I was just passing by.' John wanted to say but he moved on instead and went the other way around the corner.
He still wondered why he didn't just go in the room. He was right there. It was almost like he couldn't.
Moments ago:
Summer was aware what was about to happen with John and his mother. She didn't think it was going to end well.
She left the Command Center and ran to the hall where John was outside the door. He took off when he saw her. She knew there was a little bit more than a visual aspect to it on her part.
Summer went to Jesse's room. She looked inside. She could see the naked form on the bed in the darkness. She closed the door. She went to the corner where John went and peeked around the side.
He was at the far end of the hall. He would go by her mother's room next. If he stopped by there, he would find Jesse and her mother in there. He'd know then it was someone else in Jesse's room. It wasn't something she wanted him to concern himself with. She was aware Sarah and Riley were both involved in some new adventures.
John wasn't sure why he left the door at Jesse's room. He felt compelled to walk away. He'd hesitated to go in for some reason. It wasn't like he hadn't been in there before. Maybe it was because he saw Summer at the end of the hall. He wasn't really sure about anything right now.
Maybe he felt the girls all set a bad example for Summer and Jan. They were aware of all the room hopping anyway.
Maybe he would stop by and see if Claire wanted another round. She said he knew where her room was. He did know.
He wanted to see what was around the corner first. He looked back and didn't see Summer behind him. He peeked around the corner and Claire was pushing the baby carriage.
Wait.
It must be Samantha. She was headed his way. He didn't want to answer any questions. He headed back the way he'd come. Maybe Summer would be gone now. If she was, he was going into Jesse's room.
As he neared the corner he could hear Summer speaking with someone.
Great, now there were two people there.
He looked back up the way he'd just come from and saw the baby carriage about to come around the corner. He made a break for the lab. He hurried to the door and went inside.
He wasn't really sure why he was so jittery. It wasn't like he was doing anything wrong. Or was it? Maybe it was the way things were being done, rather than the act itself. In the back of his mind he knew he was playing with fire. They all cared about each other, so the act was easy to expand into a little more than just the act.
Sarah was sure she'd heard some noise at the door and now it was closed. Someone must have been there. She could now hear someone talking outside.
She turned on the light, got dressed and made the bed.
It looked like a wrap for now.
Summer saw John was on his way back. She started a conversation with herself as if she was speaking with Jan. She could hear John go into the lab. She moved around the corner and saw the baby carriage at the end of the hall.
The door to Jesse's room opened. She moved all the way around the corner and looked back. She saw Sarah look out of the room both ways, and then slip out into the hall and head back towards her room. Samantha came around the far corner and Summer waited where she was at. She looked back and Sarah was clear.
Samantha passed by the door to the lab and headed towards Summer.
"I delivered the message." Samantha said.
Summer understood it was a non verbal message.
"Good." Summer said. "Wait here until you hear John come out of the lab and then continue down the hall. Make sure Jesse's door is wide open."
Samantha looked around in both directions.
"I feel like a spy." Samantha said.
Summer wasn't sure if a spy was the correct term. She thought they were more like troubleshooters.
"I don't like problems." Summer said. "Thanks for helping me."
Summer went in the direction Samantha just came from. She passed by the lab but didn't look towards it. She didn't need to. She already knew who was there.
John heard Samantha go by with the baby carriage. He waited a moment and was about to go out when Summer passed by. She headed back towards her room which was next to her mother's room.
He waited a minute and went out. He saw her pause at the corner for a moment as if she was speaking with someone. He slipped out and went back the way he'd come. He saw Samantha turn the corner.
Good. He would stop at Jesse's room. He saw the door was wide open and the bed was empty and made. The deal was off.
Wait.
Maybe she went looking for him. He hurried back to his room.
What was he thinking? It was where Claire said she would tell Jesse he was at. He sure hoped he hadn't blown it. What if Jesse went there and left because he wasn't there? He wanted her bad now, real bad.
The attacker took one more look at the building. He took off the pack and carefully laid out the other three rockets. He decided he would fire all four of them at the building and then withdraw.
He wanted to send a message in regards to his fallen comrade. He wasn't sure why the sniper chose the other man instead of him. They were both side by side at the time. It could have just as easily been him with the bullet hole in his head. He knew it was the fault of the dog for barking and alerting the men in the building. He looked over in the direction of where the dog was at. It was in the next property over from the building next to him. He would deal with the building now. He might deal with the dog later.
The attacker checked his surroundings again. Everything looked good. He took another look towards the building. There was no sign of anyone on it or around it. He placed the rocket launcher on the top of the fence to help steady it. He aimed towards the roll up door and fired.
There was a loud 'whoosh' sound as the rocket left the launcher. He quickly brought the launcher back down and picked up the next rocket propelled grenade. He could hear an explosion in the direction of the building. He didn't look. He loaded the launcher and brought it back up to the fence. He expected to see a hole in the roll up door. There wasn't one. He aimed for it again and fired. He wasn't sure where his rocket propelled grenade ended up. He could hear the dog barking off to the side. It was certainly enraged now.
He decided to watch the grenade impact this time. He could see it streak directly towards the roll up door. It veered off to the side at the last moment and struck the wall. He looked and could see another mark on the wall on the other side of the door. Neither rocket had tracked true.
The attacker didn't know if it was the rockets or the launcher. He quickly loaded the next rocket into it. He could see there were several dents in the body of the tube which held the back of the rocket propelled grenade. He thought they must have been from some of the projectiles or shrapnel which entered the front window or the roof of the vehicle. He aimed the next rocket higher and a little bit off to the side. As soon as he found the spot he wanted, he fired.
He quickly moved the launched or down to load it again. Either the rocket propelled grenade was going to hit the roll up door, or it wasn't. He heard the explosion as he loaded the last rocket propelled grenade into it. He brought it up to fire again. He could see there was damage to the roll up door this time. It appeared to be blown loose on the right side of it as he faced it. He aimed for the same spot where he'd shot the last time and fired again. He watched the rocket track and go inside of the building. He could hear it explode somewhere in the interior. It was what he wanted to happen with the first one.
It was his original plan to fire the four rockets and then leave. He didn't want to stick around for the sniper to show back up again. Now he wished he would have brought his assault rifle with him. There was only so much he could lug around and go over fence with.
He was about to take the launcher and leave. The lack of any response from the building caught his attention. He didn't know what he'd expected them to do, but he'd expected them to do more than nothing. Maybe they all hunkered down inside because they thought they were about to be attacked with a ground assault. It was much the same way as they'd done at the other location.
The other man who'd been killed told him they'd done something very similar. When they'd moved up to breach the building, the men inside opened up on them and brought down some of their men.
He decided to withdraw. He checked his surroundings one more time and pulled out. He could hear the dog barking incessantly two buildings over. It sounded as if there were a couple more somewhere in the area. They weren't very close.
The attacker took the launcher and retreated from the same way he'd entered the property. The dog continued to bark off to the side.
CamNet directed her male Terminator to move within a few blocks of where the attacker currently was now behind the target building. Her main concern was the operation near where her two female Terminators were at.
The male Terminator watched the attack on the building go down from the drone footage. He thought the attack was very ineffectual. He watched the attacker climb back over the fence and head for his vehicle.
The attacker made it over the fence and back to his vehicle. He looked around to see if anyone paid any attention. So far he hadn't seen anyone. He looked back in the direction he could hear the dog. He sure hoped it couldn't get out of its area. His ankles really hurt. He would hate to face the dog when it wasn't groggy.
He opened the door and tossed the launcher on the back seat. He climbed in and drove away. He checked his rear view mirror to make sure there was no one on his tail this time. So far there wasn't.
When he reached the first intersection, he turned in the opposite direction he had the first time. He turned and stopped at the street which ran along the front of the building he just attacked. He didn't see any activity.
He would have liked to have seen the van show back up but it didn't. He decided to go back by where he'd hit the man with the assault rifle. He still didn't know what type of attack had been carried out on his vehicle.
The car he currently drove was a different one from what was observed the first time he'd visited the building to set up surveillance and then encountered the van.
The attacker decided to drive back by the location of the deli. He reached down and moved his assault rifle up. He gently pulled back on the cocking handle to make sure there was a round in the chamber. There was. He didn't want to make the same mistake as the man he'd hit with his car.
CamNet's Terminator was a little concerned when he saw the attacker was headed back towards where the confrontation had taken place in back of the deli. He didn't want him to drive around the area and come across the van. He knew it was currently protected by a drone and there was a drone over the attacker.
He checked the drone images over him for signs of anyone who might be involved with any of the groups. He moved along parallel streets but still stayed a few blocks behind and off to the side of the attacker.
CamNet's Terminator wondered how much longer CamNet was going to be a spectator.
CamNet's female Terminators were more concerned about the Gray behind them. So far the drone scouting in front of them hadn't detected a probable location yet. They also monitored where the female Fanatic and her accomplice were at.
Their new concern was the gang of bikers who'd arrived at the crossroad junction. It appeared they stopped for gasoline. It was as they'd figured. The biker gang was now on the same section of highway they were. They were still quite a ways behind the Gray and the female Fanatic.
Lena and Tina continued to watch the drone footage and stayed one mile ahead of the Gray.
The female Fanatic was very pleased to hear of Jill's renewed commitment. They would both do SkyMaster's work for as long as they could. She doubted it would be much longer.
Jill thought about resting a little more but decided against it. She moved back up to the front seat. The nightmare she'd experienced seemed a little too real. She was sure her mind conjured it up based upon what already happened to her and what she knew about the reputation of bikers. She wanted to know more about the future.
"Are there biker gangs in the future?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic glanced in her rear view mirror and then looked at Jill.
"There are the remnants of biker gangs along with other criminals who exist outside the control of any of the groups." The female Fanatic said. "They're known as Scavengers. They make bikers look like choirboys."
Jill heard Jackie mention Scavengers before. She better understood the concept now of what she actually referred to and meant. She really wondered why some individuals chose to live in such a fashion. Did they hate themselves or did they hate society? Maybe they hated everything.
The female Fanatic went on to describe some of the atrocities she'd personally witnessed by groups of Scavengers. Most of the evidence was on the mutilated bodies they'd discovered. She could see Jill cringe a little at some of the descriptions. She didn't hold anything back this time. She wanted her to understand what else they were fighting besides Skynet.
She told Jill about SkyMaster and how they wanted to make the world a better place. It was going to take a lot of rearranging and purging to make it happen.
Jill listened to Jackie talk about the future and her part in it. She wondered what the real difference was between SkyMaster and Skynet. They sounded very similar in what they attempted to do.
Right now at this point in time, it didn't really matter. The group which abused her was associated with Skynet. Skynet was an enemy of SkyMaster. It made SkyMaster a friend of hers because of it.
The female Fanatic was very blunt and open with Jill. She wanted her to understand what everything was about.
Jill could tell Jackie believed in what she was doing. It was more than just a job or a duty to her. It was a belief. She knew it was different from a cult, but she wasn't really sure how.
"If you could go back to the future, would you?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic was a little surprised at Jill's question. Life in the past offered a lot more amenities than the future did. There were also a lot of distractions. Everyone in her cell had been killed except her. She didn't know how to contact any of the other cells. She knew she was going to die soon where she was in the past, the present.
"I don't know." The female Fanatic said. "When we first arrived, we were able to make a difference. I guess some of what you've seen and been a part of has made a difference as well. We've done things to hurt Skynet. I don't know how to get back. We've heard rumors of some groups who've constructed the time displacement equipment in this time period."
Jill wondered about how it worked.
"Could anyone go into the future or the past with one of the machines from now?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic was aware SkyMaster sent operatives into both the future and the past. She was personally unaware if any of them ever returned. As to what any of them did wherever they ended up at, she didn't know. Anything which happened in the past, would be as she knew it to be. She didn't know if the actions her cell took made a difference or only canceled out what the other groups attempted to change. Maybe the different groups fighting each other prevented any one of them from getting a foothold to actually change her future. Maybe her future was a result of whatever happened now and in the past. There was really no way for her to know.
"It would be possible to do both." The female Fanatic said.
Jill contemplated being able to go back in time and change her future. She would like to prevent herself from making the same mistakes she'd made which ended up as her being homeless. She also realized if she would have been able to do it, she wouldn't be where she was at right now thinking about it.
"If we come across one, I want to go into the future or the past." Jill said. "I don't care which one it is, or when it is. I just want to go somewhere different. I want to get away from it all."
The female Fanatic understood Jill's desire to 'escape'. She was pretty sure the only way out was Ascension. It was why she did what she did. There was some place to get away from it all.
Dozed Off
If it's true one must lay
In the bed they make
Maybe it's why some
Would rather stay awake
When the time is late
One may get sleepy
It's hard to resist the things
Which soon turn creepy
A hard day's work
Should allow one to rest
It often seems as if
It's just another test
One can't always choose
What dreams they'll keep
Such is the way of the night
When most choose to sleep
Perhaps for some it's easy
To laugh it up and scoff
The darkness always will come
Once one has dozed off
Nobody
