Chapter 1525
Serious Operation
Cam took stock of what chemicals were in the barrels. Some of them contained acid. She soon found out many of the barrels were empty. She really wondered how long they'd been working down there. It looked like a few years based on the amount of excavation.
She took her body cam off and carefully lifted it slightly above the level of the barrels with her hand. She filmed everything around her in a three hundred and sixty degree circle. It was for John Henry and CamNet to disseminate. She looked at the images on her phone as she did it.
Over by where the tram stopped, she spotted several figures working. One of them operated a small front end loader. It seemed to be electric powered as were the tractors for the tram cars.
There was a loud metallic 'clang' noise as some of the rocks were loaded into the first tram car. The process was repeated over and over. It would mask her movements for sound.
There was one area under construction on the other side of the sloped shaft. It looked like it would be a clean room. It is where the real Skynet computer would be housed when the place was finished. It would never happen. They were there to prevent it.
Cam heard some movement near her. She got down low again. She watched a man, who was covered from head to toe with dust, approach where she was at. The dust which covered him was the same color as the rock. She was covered the same way. He placed a spout into the top of a barrel. He picked up the fully loaded barrel and placed it sideways on a rack so it could be gravity drained. She knew liquid weighed about eight pounds a gallon. It was a fifty five gallon barrel. It was about four hundred and fifty pounds with the weight of the barrel and the liquid. The man was not a man. He was a Terminator.
She watched him draw off different chemicals from several barrels. These were the chemicals he would mix to create the nitro. He left with the unmixed liquids and went back to where the tram was being loaded.
Cam heard some noise from the sloped shaft. Another tram was headed down. The tram being loaded pulled away from the loading area and paused at the foot of the sloped shaft. It waited for the downhill tram to arrive.
She peeked over the top of the barrels and watched the Terminator mix the chemicals. She studied the proportions he used. They weren't equal. Everyone around him was silent and didn't move. They were all behind heavy objects for cover. The empty tram arrived, pulled up and stopped.
The Terminator moved away from the blast area. Ten seconds later, there was a loud explosion and the ground shook. There was a heavy dust cloud seconds later. Everyone went back to work as the dust settled. The two trams passed each other. The empty one went over to be loaded. The loaded one 'whined' its way up the sloped shaft.
As the rocks 'clanged' into the cars, she moved several full barrels of chemicals over to the edge of the depression in the rock. It would act as a giant mixing bowl for the chemicals if she decided to release them. She would need to be careful around the acid. It could damage her sheath.
She would use her knife to puncture each barrel at the appropriate height to release the desired amount of chemicals into the depression. The size she made the holes would determine now fast the chemicals would flow. She could make the fluids flow rapidly, or take hours to drain. The longer the drainage took, the greater the chances of discovery were. Everything needed to be considered. There was no way to know what would happen going forward. Whatever she decided to do with the chemicals would be a gamble.
Cam would need to coordinate with the team up top and still be able to get away from where she was at. She wanted a better look around before she did anything.
Anna and Young Allison watched the video feed from Cam.
"It's a serious operation." Young Allison said.
Anna could see it must have been ongoing for years.
"Someone's planned this for a long time." Anna said.
Young Allison knew Cam wanted to find the large power cell, or cells, they suspected were there.
"I think the giant power cell is to be built where Cam is now along with a bunker buster proof clean room." Young Allison said. "There's room on the other side."
Anna thought there were a few smaller power cells there already.
"They need to check out Level Four all the way to the main shaft." Anna said.
Neither one of them discussed the fate of the girl.
Moments ago:
Gail rejoined Bob and Jim. They decided to hold where they were for now. They didn't want to get too far away from Cam. Gail set her body cam on top of one of the crates so they could watch the two clean rooms and the top of the sloped shaft. They didn't need to expose themselves if they used the cam.
Another empty tram arrived and started down the sloped shaft. They observed the footage Cam transmitted back up to the top. They saw everything she did.
They watched the man lift the barrel. They all looked at each other.
"It's a Terminator." Bob said.
They could hear Toto moving around near the finished clean room. They weren't sure if it was going to enter or not. The door into it was closed. Toto needed to get inside to complete its high speed link with the mainframe to infect it with Summer's program and virus.
They watched as the female Terminator exited the unfinished clean room. Toto hurried away from the finished clean room before she could spot it. John Henry didn't want the added electrical equipment they'd installed on Toto to be noticed.
Toto headed further into Level Four. It was given a new mission.
Another blast rocked the area.
"It wasn't as large as the one a few explosions ago." Jim said.
Gail was sure they'd bring the entire mine down if they did too many giant explosions.
"The mine is weaker than they know." Gail said. "The first two levels are in very bad condition. They could start a chain reaction collapse."
Bob agreed with her assessment.
"Affirmative…." Bob said.
The team hoped to be out before any such event occurred.
The team held for now. Gail watched Cam's body cam footage. Jim watched the footage of the area in front of them. Bob watched the feed from Toto.
Moments ago:
John Henry and Summer watched the feed between the two clean rooms.
"You need to get Toto away from there." Summer said.
John Henry could see Toto couldn't get inside the clean room. The female Terminator might notice the modifications the team made to Toto if she got a good look at it. It was time to take some preemptive action.
"I'll move Toto away for now." John Henry said.
Summer looked at the footage from Cam's circular sweep of her body cam.
"There's nothing of value on Level Five." Summer said. "Since there's only solid rock above it, it would withstand the collapse of the mine itself. I believe it's another safeguard they've built into its construction."
John Henry thought about it. As long as Skynet itself could get a signal out, it would be untouchable. The giant power cell, once it was constructed, would last for a century or more, if it was built the same way as the one Cameron destroyed in her future.
"This is very much like what Savannah and Cameron encountered." John Henry said. "It's just not ready yet."
Summer wanted to find whatever power cells were already there.
"Toto needs to find where any medium or large power cells are at." Summer said. "It's not indicated in the files of its travels."
John Henry wondered about it too. There must be another cavern on Level Four where it would be. Maybe it was concealed.
Cammy was pleased to hear Camille separated John from the girls. She knew what the plan was.
"Ally, you need to ride with Hanna." Cammy said. "She has Mary and Laura with her."
Ally didn't have a problem with it.
"Let me out at the corner and I'll wait for them." Ally said. "Leticia can wait with me."
Leticia wanted a piece of the action. She was ready to see more. She was ready to be involved in more.
"I want to be with Sheila when she takes down the gang." Leticia said.
Cammy thought it would be less dangerous for Leticia to be with Ally, Hanna and the girls.
"You will be safer with the others." Cammy said.
Leticia wanted to stay with Sheila.
"No." Leticia said. "I'm with Sheila. There's a vest here for me to wear."
Sheila wanted to see what Leticia would decide on her own. She hadn't said anything to try to encourage or discourage her. She did tell her earlier she wanted her to make her own decisions and stand up for herself. It was exactly what she'd just done.
"You can stay with me, love, but you need to know there's always the chance you could be hurt." Sheila said. "I appreciate you speaking up as well. It's what I want out of you."
Leticia was used to taking directions and following commands. She was also aware of how they were given. She looked at Sheila.
"I want to learn more about what you do and how you do it." Leticia said.
Cammy stopped at the corner and Ally got out.
"The other SUV should be by in a few minutes." Cammy said. "I told Hanna where to go."
Ally nodded. The prospects of standing on a street corner in Frisco didn't really appeal to her.
"I'll probably be 'hit on' before they arrive." Ally said and closed the door.
Cammy smiled and drove away.
Leticia really wondered what she was about to get herself into.
"Can you tell me who you really are?" Leticia asked.
Cammy looked back and smiled.
"We're the good guys." Cammy said.
Sheila knew some of her actions were a little questionable.
'Most of the time….' Sheila thought.
Leticia noticed Sheila looked a little uneasy at the suggestion she was one of the 'good guys'. She was aware sometimes 'dirty work' needed to be done. Someone needed to do it. She figured it was Sheila. It was something she could do as well.
Dan and Frank were given target acquisition information by CamNet. They tracked the first target.
Frank drove the SUV and Dan was on foot behind the perp. They anticipated he was on his way to the park.
Dan watched as the punk stopped by some homeless tents. He roughed up a skinny homeless man and took something from him. There was an even skinnier female who said something to him. The punk tried to hit her, but she moved too fast.
"Bitch." The punk said.
The skinny female looked defiant.
"Go to Hell." The skinny female said.
The punk made his intentions clear.
"You'd better be in your tent when I get back." The punk said.
The skinny female looked at him with disgust.
"Are you going to pay me this time?" The skinny female asked.
The punk laughed.
"I never pay for it." The punk said. "Every Bitch wants what I have to give them."
The skinny female shrugged her shoulders.
"I have AIDS." The skinny female said.
The punk laughed even harder.
"Sure you do." The punk said. "It's what they all say."
The punk moved on.
Dan touched his silenced M9. He thought about terminating the homeless people in the tents. It wasn't his mission right now. Maybe he'd do it later on. They were parasites to the future. He passed the tents and stayed behind the punk.
Hanna was told where to pick Ally up at. She should be there in a few minutes.
Mary could see events were progressing rapidly. She hoped to find out a little more.
"What is Sheila really going to do?" Mary asked.
Hanna wanted them to know since John was away.
"She's going to terminate them." Hanna said. "They returned to the park yesterday. They were warned not to return. They robbed half a dozen tourists. The gang abused two foreign female tourists. They're both in the hospital now. The female gang member lured the two females into the trap."
Laura wondered about it.
"Nobody takes threats seriously." Laura said.
Hanna wanted the girls to understand how they worked.
"They weren't threats." Hanna said. "We're very mission focused. If we say something will happen, it will happen."
Mary saw how Sheila 'punished' the two females and killed the other men earlier.
"Does any of this bother you?" Mary asked.
Hanna tilted her head slightly. Everything they did was about protecting the future, even if it was indirectly so at times.
"No." Hanna said. "Why would it?"
Laura thought it was obvious. They'd watched Sheila in action. She made sure she didn't kill any of the people too quickly she'd 'worked' on.
"I'd have to say because your group kills people." Laura said. "Sheila kills them very violently. It's clear she enjoys doing it as well."
Hanna tilted her head slightly the other way. She saw things differently.
"It's their own actions which have determined their fate." Hanna said. "We merely carry out the sentence they've given themselves. They've already judged themselves. We simply make sure the sentence is carried out."
Laura could see the logic in their reasoning, even if it was a little convoluted. The actions of the perpetrators were all wrong by anyone's standards. The people involved in such activity did it by choice. They also did it because they liked to do it. They liked to have power over other individuals.
Mary wanted to ask about the 'robot thing' but it just seemed absurd. She'd been with all of the 'special girls' and their bodies were just like any other female. They responded in the same way too. The 'special girls' didn't eat or drink much and they never needed to use the restroom. What was the other term Laura said? It was android, or cyborg, or something like it. She took out her phone and typed in 'cyborg'. A 'frowning face' instantly appeared on her screen.
Laura watched what Mary did and saw what happened. They quickly looked at each other.
Hanna was alerted by CamNet as to the search Mary just did. She didn't turn around to look at Mary and Laura. She didn't touch anything but the steering wheel.
"Is it something you really want to know?" Hanna asked.
Mary felt guilty but she did want to know more.
"Yes." Mary said.
The 'frowning face' on her phone disappeared and the search resumed on her phone.
Mary and Laura looked at each other again. They knew it was the work of a 'super computer'.
They both hoped it was the 'good' one.
Mary tried to remember the name of the super computer which controlled everything and blew up the world in the article. It was Sky-something. Were the 'special girls' really the good guys?
They were good in bed and it was all that mattered for now. It still made her wonder about if they really were machines of some type. If they were, how would it be any different than using some type of sophisticated marital aid or sex toy when they were together?
Steve and Tom drove Camille and John towards San Francisco.
Camille offered John the option to have her revert her program back to 'Cameron's program' on the day of her creation.
John thought about it. It would be exciting but he wanted Camille to be herself. He thought she would be more fun if she was, and hopefully less worried about him. Cameron was always worried about his safety wherever they went. He understood it was her job. It was still a little irritating. He thought it would be a good comparison to see how some of Cameron's clones behaved compared to her. He was aware Cam and Cammy were both different from Cameron in many respects. He felt Vanna and Savannah helped them be more than just 'Cameron' in many different ways. He often felt his presence held Cameron back from being who she could be.
"I just want you to be 'Camille'." John said. "Be who you are. I want the real you."
Camille smiled. She wanted to be herself.
"Thank you." Camille said. "I'm going to be different from Cameron in many respects. I just wanted you to know that."
Steve didn't want them to get 'carried away' on his watch. Now they were alone, or soon would be, things could happen. He would need to defer to the General's wishes, whatever they were. He wanted to make sure they were occupied.
"Do you want to ride the historic trolleys first or head straight for the cable cars?" Steve asked.
John wanted to be a gentleman. He hadn't been around Camille very much. He did 'break in' her chassis with Cameron in control of it. He was still pleased about it. He'd like to 'break in' her chassis as well, with her program in control of it. It would be another first. It would still be her 'first experience'.
"I'll let Camille pick what we do." John said. "I'm game for anything she decides."
Camille lightly moistened her lips. She could think of a few things. She was anxious to get 'busted' herself, as herself. She wanted to know what Young Jesse experienced. She wanted the same experience too. She tried not to think about how Cameron 'stole' her virginity. Maybe it was time to pay her back. She could better understand Cammy's desire to 'punish' Cameron however she could.
Ally watched Cammy drive away with Sheila and Leticia. She looked at her phone to see how far away Hanna was. It was still a few minutes.
A car almost immediately pulled up to the curb.
"Hey, sweet cakes, do you need a lift?" A man asked.
A series of 'appropriate responses' popped up on her HUD. She was about to use the most common one. It was very profane. She decided to be nice instead.
"No thanks." Ally said. "My ride will be here in a few minutes."
The car still sat there.
"I can make it worth your time." The man said.
The man flashed a 'C note'.
'Not this again.' Ally thought.
"I need to see someone in the hospital." Ally said.
The man flashed two 'C notes'.
"Who?" The man asked.
Ally didn't want any trouble now. They were going to have plenty soon enough. There was no need to add to the body count prematurely.
"It will be you if you don't drive away now." Ally said.
Her right hand was on the pole for the bus stop sign. She looked around. No one else was close. She bent the metal pole to a ninety degree angle.
The man's eyes widened. It was a little hard for him to believe what he'd just witnessed. Nonetheless, he'd just witnessed it.
"NOW…." Ally said forcefully.
The man hit the gas and drove away. She bent the sign pole straight again. It was left with a little 'kink' in the metal.
A few minutes later Hanna pulled up.
"Did you have any trouble?" Hanna asked.
Ally smiled and got into the front seat. She greeted the girls in the back seat.
"Nope, everything is fine." Ally said.
Hanna drove off.
Ally looked around to see if she could spot the man who'd accosted her. She didn't see him. She hoped the incident was finished.
Dan followed the gang banger punk. He watched him slash the tires on a high end sports car. The air still hissed out of the tires as he passed it.
There were a few 'deposits' from the homeless people on the sidewalk. It was a problem in San Francisco. He wondered when someone else would do something about it. He believed the only cure for homelessness was termination. It was a chosen lifestyle. There was plenty of help and outreach programs available to those who wanted to improve their life. After Judgment Day, they would become even worse parasites than they already were.
The punk took out a spray can and made some markings on the side of a cargo van parked on the street. It took up the entire side of the van. He really thought if he wanted to send some type of message, he should at least write what he did so someone else could actually read it.
Dan was fed up with what he'd witnessed so far. It was time the madness ended. When he'd been out with Frank previously, corrective action would have already been taken. He contacted Sheila. He gave her a brief rundown on what activities occurred so far.
"Do you want me to immobilize the gang member I'm following now, or do you want to wait for him to join up with the rest of the gang?" Dan asked. "It might be easier for your trainee to deal with each one of them individually."
Sheila could tell Dan wanted to terminate him. Maybe it would give her a chance to show Leticia what would happen to the others.
"Is there any place off to the side where you can hold him?" Sheila asked.
Frank scouted around and ahead of Dan in their SUV.
"Yes." Frank said.
Frank informed them he'd spotted an empty house up ahead.
Sheila glanced at Leticia. It was time to get started.
"Do it." Sheila said. "We'll be there in a few minutes."
Dan was more than ready.
He moved into the street so the parked cars would mask his approach. He closed up on the punk.
The punk stopped to spray paint something on a gate. Dan moved directly in back of him as he put the spray can away.
The punk spun around with a knife in his hand.
"Give me your phone and wallet." The punk said.
Dan continued to close on the punk.
"Wrong…." Dan said.
The punk took in his size and saw he was about to have a problem. When the big man's eyes glowed red, he knew he was really going to have a problem.
He made a stab motion at Dan.
Dan sidestepped and gave the punk a shove. He hit the sidewalk hard. The knife clattered away. The punk tried to get up but collapsed to the ground. He put his foot on the punk's back and pushed down. He didn't use too much force. He just wanted the punk to pass out. A couple of broken ribs wouldn't matter. He could hear and feel several of them snap as he increased the pressure of his foot.
"I can't breathe." The punk gasped.
Dan wasn't fazed. It seemed to be a common expression of perpetrators once they were apprehended.
"I've heard it before." Dan said. "Deal with it."
Dan increased the pressure. He did hear some other bones break as the punk struggled. The punk stopped moving. He held his foot on his back a little longer.
He looked around and picked up the knife the punk dropped. He figured Sheila would want to use his own knife on him. It seemed fitting anyway.
Frank was there now with him. He'd parked the SUV.
"The house is clear." Frank said.
Dan picked up the punk's ankle and pulled him up to the house. The punk's head impacted and bounced off of every obstacle in the way, and off each of the steps. He was still face down.
Frank quickly searched the punk and found a second knife, the spray can and a baggie with some narcotics in it. There were two credit cards in a female's name and a woman's ring in another pocket.
It was what he found in the last pocket which made Dan and Frank look at each other. It was a pair of women's underwear. They were a fancy high end foreign brand. They most likely belonged to one of the two foreign tourists the gang abused yesterday.
"Sheila will want to 'work' on him for sure." Frank said.
Dan nodded.
"Let's get him ready." Dan said.
There was the sound of cloth ripping as the punk was prepared for 'justice'. There would be one less Scavenger for the future in a few minutes. They gagged him with his own underwear. They made sure the 'skid mark' was deep in his mouth.
The Terminator headed for the other satellite location. The low drone scan earlier showed there were still two more individuals there. They hadn't gone to find out what was wrong at the mail location.
He quickly moved towards the area. The two men inside moved out into the doorway. The flames from the other building were clearly visible now.
The Terminator was close enough to hear them converse.
"What do you think is happening?" The first man asked.
"Dude, you know as much as I do." The second man said.
"I hope Davy and Ramon report back to us soon." The first man said. "My phone still doesn't work."
The second man took out his phone and tried it again.
"I got nothing". The second man said. "There's something fishy going on."
Terminator closed up on the two men. He had a clean shot at one of them. He wanted to take both of them down without a protracted gun battle. He decided to use the ploy he's already used several times with the same group. He spoke in the distinctive voice of one of the men he'd terminated.
"Hey." The Terminator said. "I need you guys to come and help right now."
Both of the men could see a figure in the darkness. He was back lit by the fire at the other location. They couldn't make out any details. They did recognize the voice.
The man who'd been exposed, stepped further away from the building. The other man who'd been just inside the doorway, moved into the doorway.
The Terminator had a clean shot. He fired twice. The silenced rounds took both men down with a head shot. He quickly moved up to their location. He moved them inside and collected their phones. He didn't have any more Thermite grenades with him. He didn't plan to return to the location. He ripped the gas lines loose inside of the building. He exited the building after he closed the door. He wanted the gas to build up.
CamNet would wait for a short period of time and then deliver some 'metal hail' into the building. It should ignite a spark and explode the accumulated gas. The resulting fire would consume everything inside. There would be no emergency response.
He made his way back to his vehicle through a more roundabout route. The drones overhead didn't pick up any additional hostiles. If there was anyone else associated with the buildings, they were in hiding or dead.
CamNet provided him with another location to investigate. He drove away from the vicinity of the burning buildings.
One of the drones picked up a suspicious vehicle in the area. It started and stopped several times in the direction of the burning building. It suddenly turned around and rapidly sped away from the area.
The Terminator was directed to follow the fleeing vehicle. He would allow the drone to track it and remain out of sight.
The first man moved off. He really hoped the technicians knew what they were doing. There were other parts of the building he needed to check.
There was a lot of machinery inside. He really didn't know what all of it was for. It seemed like a complicated process to make cement. There were a multitude of different storage bins inside. There were metal walkways which ran along the top of them. They all needed to be reached by a ladder. There were several of those located around.
He made his way to the office area. He needed to go up a flight of stairs to reach it. He knocked on the door and then entered. A big man sat behind the desk in the room.
"Do you have anything new to report?" The man behind the desk asked.
The first man wondered if he should have sent one of the other men to make the report. He didn't like to deal with the big man.
"The perimeter is secure." The first man said. "I've checked all of the positions twice. All four sides are covered, including the side with the quarry."
The man behind the desk looked disinterested.
"You may resume your duties." The man behind the desk said.
The first man wanted to take a look through the building before he went back out. He would need to check each of the outbuildings as well. He wanted to ask about the project the two technicians were working on.
"Is it safe for the technicians to keep experimenting with the spatial device?" The first man asked.
The man behind the desk tilted his head slightly.
"We need to find out how it works." The man behind the desk said.
The first man didn't think the conversation would go anywhere. He bid the big man farewell and left. There were a few other sections of the building he wanted to check out.
The big man decided he would look into the device himself. The technicians had fooled with it long enough. He would go there and see what he could make happen. He got up from behind the desk and headed out.
The female Fanatic and Jill moved close to the first HK Track. The two truck drivers would need to wait before they were dealt with.
There was a loud splintering noise from the back of the truck.
"That's just great, man." The first truck driver said.
One of the crates they were moving got hung up on another one. The force of the forklift caused it to break open. The two men were busy in the back of the truck as they attempted to repair it.
The female Fanatic moved up the HK Track farthest away from where the truck drivers were at and went to work.
Jill kept watch around her. She held her Beretta in her hand. She knew if they were spotted, everything would break out into a shooting match. She hoped to deliver the first shots if it happened.
"I don't see anyone around." Jill whispered.
The female Fanatic concentrated on the task at hand.
It sounded as if the men in the back of the truck resumed their loading operation. The forklift exited out of the back of the truck and picked up another crate.
Jill never saw them look in their direction. She was tempted to shoot both of them. She thought she would be able to do so before either one of them could act.
The female Fanatic was familiar with what she needed to do. She'd already done it to three other HK Tracks. It didn't take her long to get everything set. She made sure the HK Track would only respond to the transponder Jill and her carried.
After a short time, she switched over to the second one.
Jill spotted some movement. She quickly crouched back down out of view.
"I see someone else." Jill whispered.
The female Fanatic was a little concerned. She carefully looked around the side of the HK Track and spotted a big man. She didn't think he was a man. She put her lips against Jill's ear.
"It's a Terminator." The female Fanatic whispered. "We need to withdraw."
There was a bright flash and a loud 'electric noise' from the area where they'd spotted the other two men when they'd entered.
They could see the Terminator go over in the direction of the noise.
The female Fanatic resumed work on the second HK Track.
"Keep an eye on him." The female Fanatic whispered. "He can see and hear at a level much greater than we can."
Jill listened to all the stories Jackie told her earlier. She knew a Terminator was something to be feared. She also knew the weapons they carried, wouldn't do anything to stop it.
The female Fanatic knew there was a new level of danger to what they were doing. It was bad enough with a group of Grays. Now there was a Terminator there for sure. It made her wonder what else was at the location.
CamNet's two Terminators made their way to the door and opened it slightly. They could see there was a group of crates not too far from the door. It might be a good initial entry point for them. They knew the female Fanatic and her accomplice made it in without any gunfire directed at them.
Lena opened the door and slipped inside. Tina was right behind her. They headed straight for the crates. They could hear several things. One was a forklift working somewhere close by. Another one was two men who appeared to be a little upset with each other.
"I think it will work next time." The first technician said.
"It's the same thing you said every time when we went to test it." The second technician said. "It's never worked right once. It's only a matter of time until we get hurt doing this."
They wanted to follow the female Fanatic and see what she was up to. What they heard now seemed as if it was of immediate importance.
They moved up to a position where they could spot the two men working up against the wall. They spotted the emitters on the ground only a couple of feet apart. They didn't know what it was. They sent the information to CamNet.
CamNet immediately transmitted some files back to them. They were informed of the Resistance team's previous encounter with a similar device. It almost ended catastrophically for a number of them.
Lena and Tina were instructed to see what they could find out about the device and how it was controlled.

November 25 1963

Young Allison used the bristle brush and some solution on the barrel of the Hi-Power. It didn't take her long to get it cleaned out and run some small patches through the bore.
'That'll Be The Day.' by 'The Crickets', begin to play.
Cameron had studied up on all of the musical groups from the time. She knew many of them had faded from the limelight by 1963. Some of them had terminated. She was aware the title of the song was a 'catch phrase' used several times by a well known actor, usually associated with westerns, in a movie once.
The song was originally recorded by 'Buddy Holly and The Three Tunes' a year before the more famous recording was made as the one released by 'The Crickets' in 1957. She was aware Buddy Holly said he didn't play 'hillbilly'. She was pretty sure the original version of 'That'll Be The Day' recorded in 1956 sounded a little more 'hillbilly' than 'The Cricket's' version released in 1957. Strangely enough, the original recording wasn't released until after the version by 'The Crickets' was. The ordinal recording studio didn't have faith in the new star. There were two recording companies involved and the use of different names for the group was required to get around previous contracts signed.
"I like this song." Young Allison said.
Cameron figured it was why she'd picked it as one of the ten songs to play on the record player. She knew Buddy Holly was terminated in a tragic plane crash on February 3 1959 along with the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. The pilot was terminated as well.
She was aware another artist would release a song which made reference to what occurred on that day. He was thirteen years old at the time of the incident. He learned of it while folding papers to deliver on his paper route. It was still more than a few years away from being released. She thought it was best not to mention what happened unless Young Allison asked about it. With the funeral for the President, she already had enough to deal with.
"It's a good song." Cameron said. "When we were in San Antonio, I heard someone say, 'rock and roll has been going downhill ever since Buddy Holly died'. I'm not sure it's entirely true. There are a lot more famous rock and roll songs which will come out over the next decade."
Young Allison lightly oiled several surfaces on the Hi-Power before she assembled it. She worked the action several times and everything operated smoothly.
Cameron cleaned her Hi-Power at the same time as Young Allison did.
'The Locomotion', by 'Little Eva', began to play.
"I like this song." Young Allison said.
Cameron figured Young Allison would say the same thing with each new record. She was aware a few other groups were successful with the same song a decade apart from each other. She believed it showed the song was well liked by many. She knew one of the actual songwriters was responsible for dozens of hit songs for other individuals, or groups, as well as a few of her own which she actually performed herself.
She understood many of the artists who sang songs were actually only performers. There was an entire group of songwriters in the background who wrote the hits. Oftentimes when a song was recorded by one group, another one would come along and re-record it and turn it into a hit. It was basically in the style the music was played. Many of the songs people believed were originated by the performer or group who made it famous, actually belonged to someone else.
She knew staying in the background was something the Resistance tried very hard to do. If Skynet believed John Connor or Sarah Connor had been killed at some point, they were no longer a threat and it wouldn't need to send Terminators out to terminate them. It was why they'd announced Savannah was killed along with Mrs. Weaver when the 'aircraft' struck the building.
Sometimes those who operated in the shadows were the real heroes where the credit actually belonged. It was just how things worked.
She was aware much of the phraseology in the lyrics of any song was left up to interpretation by the individual who listen to it. Many of them seemed to her to have heavy sexual overtones in various veiled forms. The music indicated sexuality. When people danced to the songs, it made it a physical event. It wasn't long until one thing led to another, and it became a reality.
She wasn't going to encourage Young Allison to dance with anyone while they were in the past. Well, she would dance with her if she wanted to. When Savannah arrived, if she did, she could dance with her as well. They usually practiced all of their dance routines together whenever Savannah was in Palmdale. Savannah was very protective of Young Allison, as Vanna was of Allison. Both Vanna and Allison watched over the younger girls like hawks. They were them after all. They started out as them. They wanted to make sure they didn't end up having to face any of the abuse they did. The longer they could prevent Judgment Day, the better a life everyone could live.
Young Allison took out the 1911-A1 and the P-08. She wanted to clean both of them, and properly lubricate them. She was content to fill her time with the task.
Cameron could see Young Allison wanted to direct her thoughts away from what was happening on television
'At The Hop', by ' Danny And The Juniors', was the next record.
"I like this song." Young Allison said. "It really moves."
Cameron was pleased to see Young Allison was happy. She liked it when everyone was happy. Happy people didn't cause problems. She didn't like problems. She liked to make problems go away. Sometimes they didn't always like the way she did things.
She reloaded all of the magazines. She inspected each round before she did.
She was aware of some controversy over the song which Young Allison currently played. It was originally initially titled 'Do the Bop'. The group was called 'The Juvenairs' at the time. The lead singer of 'Do the Bop' was different from the one on 'At the Hop'. The changes in the title of the song, some of the lyrics, as well as the name of the group was recommended by a popular TV host who showcased musical groups on his program. He wanted half of the publishing proceeds the group was able to glean from the song because of the changes he'd suggested they make. Unless they agreed, he wouldn't air the song on his program.
She knew there were multiple instances of musical performers who suffered similar problems over the years. They were all so excited about being able to actually make a record, they agreed to just about anything. Sometimes the names of people they didn't even know appeared as co-writers of their song. It was all about money. It was always something humans were obsessed with. No matter how much they had, it was never enough.
Money was never a problem for her. When she needed it, she took it. If someone got in her way when she wanted to do something, she terminated them. It was always about accomplishing the goal to her. It was about winning. If someone didn't win, they lost. She didn't lose. It was never over until she won.
Cameron retrieved the revolvers as the music played. Young Allison could work on those next. They could go for a drive later on.
Serious Operation
To move ahead in life
One needs to have a little motivation
Things won't go very far
When it is more of an obligation
The path ahead is often not clear
It can lead to temptation
It is especially more so
When there's no set destination
One tries to avoid and dodge
All forms of exploitation
It really all depends on
What's the nature of the situation
They don't want their success
To be viewed as an aberration
It should be seen as a form
Of liberation and salvation
To get ahead in life
Is a form of vindication
They're not held in check
They're able to avoid isolation
So smile and forge ahead
Show some spunk and jubilation
See things for what they are
Before going on a serious operation
Nobody
