Author Note: The real Luna. During the Battle of the Ministry the Real Luna reveals herself.
Hermione fell to the floor as she felt the bones in her legs vanish. She tried to crawl but without bones her legs were limp noodles. She rolled onto her back as Dolohov approached her sneering he raised his wand and Hermione closed her eyes not wanting to see the final spell.
A brief wave of heat washed over her but it caused no pain. Opening her eyes she saw something that shocked and confused her. Luna was standing holding a skull that was still smoking slightly. Her clothes were torn as she was taller and more muscular, large leathery wings protruded from her back. Her arms from the elbows down were scale covered as were her legs from the knees down. Her feet were clawed talons that looked razor sharp as they left scratches in the hard stone floor.
When Luna turned her face towards Hermione her eyes were solid silvery white, her mouth was curled in her normal Mona Lisa smile, although the fangs were not normal. "Hello Hermione. I'm sorry I was delayed. Mother and I had a disagreement about revealing my heritage but I feel like I can trust you."
Hermione nodded quickly, "Of course you can Luna. Thank you for saving me."
"You've been nice to me. So has Harry and Neville. Which reminds me we should join them as they will need our help." Luna said waving her hand. Hermione felt a brief intense tingling sensation as her legs straightened and her bones returned. Luna lifted her with one hand.
"Thanks again Luna. Uh do you plan to go back to your normal appearance?"
Luna sighed as she threw the skull over her shoulder. "No. Sadly when I burned away that cocoon to reveal my true form I cannot return to it. This is how I will appear until I die now."
"Oh. Uh. Well its very striking."
She smiled at Hermione, "You do not find me ugly?"
Hermione smiled back, "You're still Luna right?"
"Of course I am. Who else could I be?" She replied giggling as they jogged towards the fight. "But you don't think I'm ugly?"
"No Luna. You're still our friend, no matter what." Hermione declared. She had to admit that it would take some time to get used to the new look but as long as the girl inside was the same she would do so.
"DO you think Neville and Harry will find me attractive?"
Looking at the long legs, firm breasts and toned body Hermione figured they would adapt. "They're healthy teen males Luna. They'll find you quite attractive I'm sure."
Luna made a happy growling sound, "Oh good. Then you can have Harry while I claim Neville as mine."
Hermione followed the blonde Ravenclaw demoness into the room with the battle thinking that it might not be a bad idea to follow that suggestion.
Review Responses
SMB: Hermione asked him not to Hiurt Ron. During the divorce trial Harry was more focused on helping support Hermione and get her through the trouble and pain. Ron was not his priority. Whenn Harry was satisfied hermione was safe and on the road to emotional recovery then he chose to deal with Ron. The phrase you suggested was meant to be implied as if Ron had any brains at all he would understand the ramifications of said threat.
OfficerDonNZ: True. Wifebeater Ron is a rather common trope. Finding a new way to apply or approach the tropes is an interesting experience. And yes. The quiet ones can be the scary ones quite a bit.
