This is my very first work here. Trying a concept that I thought it would be nice. I mostly write in Wattpad. English not my first language.

Notes:

This is a work of fiction. Things may vary from canon.

Personalities may change for the sake of the story.

I don't own Ghost of Tsushima nor Watch Dogs.

Enjoy ;)

You could say that fiction and reality are always connected somehow. All works of fiction are based on stories that happened at least once, or by an amalgamation of ideas that someone thought it would be cool to mix.

Of course there are stories that also meddles with emotions. Like that one time you wanted to kick your boss in the groin, heh.

The problem with fiction, was that they usually predicted how things would develop in the future. Nothing about those flying cars bullshit, but something more realistic, as in a Video Call on your Smartphone. Or even the Smartphone, as it is.

Technology is a fabulous thing when you think about it. Before, humanity would starve if wheat wasn't produced in the correct period. Frozen lakes? Guess we cant eat fish for a while. Too hot? Our meat is going to rot easily!

And that's the problem between fiction and reality. Someone at some time will think on creating such things.

Some of which shouldn't even be thought of...

Of course, most of these are a naive but true thought of protection, making things easier to the future generations or even just being more practical. But humanity just can't get satisfied with what it has, when they know that it can still go further.

Sure, technically speaking, if we didn't develop these parts of our society, we would still have those same problems, complaining about stuff getting wrong instead of giving solutions.

Well, let's start from the beginning.

Safety is the thing that drives a bunch of the technology, right? If it wasn't for, well, Wars, safety would still be the main rational reason for it. Add a bit of conflict and "Safety" turns into "Paranoia".

So, how a paranoiac person would deal with someone they suspect its the culprit of something?

Yeah, the answer is kinda underwhelming nowadays, but...

Espionage. Surveillance. Observe. Watch.

And of course, technology will develop ways to make it easier.

Apparently, a big corporation called Blume had the intention of "protecting" Chicago. They wanted to "help in diminishing the level of criminal activity in the city, making it a safer place for the people".

Yeah, right.

It was big news. Everyone talked about the "revolutionary" ctOS, The Central Operating System, as if that is going to only protect the population.

That thing controls more than just the surveillance cameras and Facial Recognition OS. It took everything about you and puts in a resume, so when someone doesn't like you anymore, they could do something about it.

Other corporations also profited from these data. I mean, it doesn't take a genius to understand that if you searched "how to cook eggs" that, the algorithm is goin to recommend you how to cook suff. Not only about recommended videos, posts, links or that, but also how you see things as a whole.

Someone could very well be pro vaccines and suddenly demonize then because they saw a post that "vaccines cause autism". Or say that "no one cares about woman's football" because FIFA gave 25K tickets to a game.

It's amazing how people read the headline of something and just conclude "whatever something something" in their heads.

Ah yes, the internet. A place where you can share anything with anyone with little to no effort in it.

1974

Aiden never really cared too much for the internet. He was too worried not gettin knocked out cold in Belfest, North-Ireland. He got in a lot of fights, maybe because of his own misadventures or because he was framed, just by affiliation. He was forced by his parents to leave to another place, in order to not put more shame in the family. Of course Aiden never really told how he got in his fights.

Mostly of them where because they did something to his family. His sister, Nicole, once almost got molested. Of course he was going to reduce said person to a bloody mess. Who wasn't?

And honestly, he was forced to leave so his father wouldn't kill him right there and then. And alcoholic at best, a fucking menace to the common sense at worst.

They didn't see each other eye-to-eye. Mr. Pearce the Senior had the tendency of beating family members. Aiden left for his mothers sake, but couldn't outright leave her behind.

But, that already passed. Managed to escape to the USA. Probably for the best, he hoped.

1990

To get his thoughts under control, Aiden eventually got fond of computers, technology, mechanics and a small level of chemistry. Small, because most of his experience with Chemistry usually turned to the... explosive side of it.

His knowledge was noted by gangs and various criminal organizations of Chicago. Aiden's family lived in the Docks, a place with a lot of movement. Any activity that wasn't regular would be noticed. Especially if a kid managed to create a boombox with only scrap parts, as well as a small explosive.

Here, Aiden never felt intimidated or even out of control of his situation. Sure, his family wouldn't approve of his... acquaintances, but he needed to give them room to breathe. His mother was getting old. Sooner or later she wasn't going to be able to work, nor the companies would want said person.

So, he either could get himself a degree in Computer Science, making a lot of money with Technology or... maybe make money with the gangs that where in the Docks...

Take a guess on which he choose.

2012

Damien Banks and Aiden Pearce had been partners for a while. Thanks to him, Aiden got to know about the Cybernetic world. Hacking was a fascinating concept. Even if it had the best Firewall, the best Operating System, the best employees to make maintenance... It still had cracks that could be used to his advantage.

Quite curious, he admitted.

Aiden's mother died a few years ago. If she saw what he became, no doubt she would kill him. At least Nicole didn't know the full extent.

It was quite the surprise when she said she would be a mother herself. Suddenly becoming an uncle, he doubled his efforts of protecting the remains of his family. The father was quite the asshole to be honest. The divorce was... unique. He pays child support, so that's nice.

An uncle-father-esque figure. Now when did I saw that before...?

Aiden reminisced this memories before preparing for whatever job Damien had for him. Something about the Merlaut Hotel. It was supposed to be a easy quick cash job. A Gig, of sorts. He needed to connect the link of the accounts in the Hotel, while Damien collected a part of the profits in said accounts.

The problem was that another hacker was there. And let's just say that this did not go well.

Aiden is a man that sees his family's safety in the highest priority.

So... when a fixer came by and shot the tire of the car on a Fishing Trip, with both his nephew and niece...?

Things got personal.

Maybe he needed to get into that ctOS bullshit.

2013 (Early)

Maurice Vega.

He was the one responsible for Lena. For her death.

And he was going to pay. But not before Aiden knew who sent the contract.

His "profiler", as he named, could do lots of things, thanks to the Backdoor he put in Blume's Servers. Unwantedly, he became "The Fox", the vigilante that watches the city from the shadows.

Maurice wasn't talking enough, only a number called him and did the contract. So he needed to do other things. Draw other people out.

Jordi was eager to not only keep Maurice at bay, but also to get Pearce more connections. "Lucky" Quinn was one of those. He did a job, to bring a random dude to a random alleyway. The poor guy got his job done, only to get a knife to the throat.

A shame, but nothing he could now.

He would be doing a favor to everyone in the city by putting a bullet in between his eyes. Not now, he needed answers.

Badboy17 could have some.

Or...Bad... Girl? Clara Lille... Huh...

So, to get his answers, he needed to get into Blume's Building, so he could tap the number that made the contract.

Lucky Quinn. How ironic.

A few contracts as a fixer for Quinn, only to find that he was the one responsible. Not only for him and his nieace's death, but also the mayor. He got some of his own shit with Quinn. All of this, for a video.

A fucking video he didn't even had.

Unlike many stories where the vengeance is empty and meaningless, this was a perfect ending for one of his hunts. He did not just kill Quinn. He prevented many more from facing similar fates to his own.

The only one left was Damien.

He killed one of those who helped him. He killed Clara.

And, as if not proof enough about his capabilities, how dangerous he already is, someone needed to test The Fox.

Some people are really dumb when they want to...

He had his Px4 pointed at him. It would only take a bullet, like many before him. If he only messed with Aiden? That would be fine. But he messed up. Really good. He didn't care that The Vigilante now had a face and name. His family was safe, out of Chicago. It was man-to-man.

Of course, Jordi needed to make himself know. Some bullshit about having a "more lucrative job". Killing Damien was incredible easy. A hack to the lighthouse, a push to the side, a swift catch of a P-9mm and a shot to the head.

Aiden didn't knew why Damien did all of that. Death, maybe. Aiden thought that he could fix the death of his Niece, but no. He got himself in lies, assassination, conspiracies, corruption and a fucked up city. And him? Another man. Not looking back, not regretting, only forward.

With everything connected, he would use it to. hunt, to protect, and, if necessary...

To punish.

2013 (Late)

Raymond Kenney called Pearce after a while.

"What do you want?", was the not so polite "hello".

"Sheesh. Would kill you to not be this grumbling-stoic-Batman?", T-Bone complained.

When no reaction came from the phone, Raymond continued.

"So, I've heard-... Well, seen a new project of Blume".

"And?"

"Something called ctOS 2.0. They plan on expanding this stupid system to other cities ans states" Ray explained, while looking at the information he got.

That sparked some interest of The Fox.

"What do you got for me, T?", Interested was audible in his rough voice.

"We should not talk over phones, Pearce. You know that anyone could be hearing. Even with our Firewalls", "T" explained, a bit worried. He didn't bother hiding Aiden's identity. Everyone knew him already.

"Fine. We'll meet in Pawnee at the park."

"1900 hours?"

"Sure."

The city was slightly filled with cars and population. The density was small. A rare occurrence, specially in Chicago.

"T-Bone" arrived a bit early. He parked the car near the park. He looked at Blume's Office. The building is rather... Plain, to say the least. It looked like a standard parking lot with an office section.

"T", came a rough voice.

Raymond looked at the direction of the voice and saw the familiar attire.

"You even show up like Batman, man", He joked.

Again, no reaction came.

...

...

...

Awkward...

"So, what do you want to tell me?" Pearce asked, not wanting to waste time.

"Uh... oh yeah." Ray cleared his throat, "So, about this project I told you..."

He showed a fews pictures in his own phone to him. It was a BIG structure. Something akin to a big computer, but with no purpose behind it. At least, not one both of them could tell. The blueprints didn't help with what this "Project ctOS-2.0" should mean either.

Some files said that its supposed to "help the system to do something before it even happens", which didn't make sense.

With the (now dubbed) ctOS-1.0, they, and any person that has access to it can predict the criminal activity. Not only who is the criminal in potential, but also the victim. It helped Aiden in many occasions to not only see if the victim was in any real danger (and calculate their stupidity, in some cases) but also reposition to a better advantage point.

So this project made zero to no sense.

Both entered the facility. After knocking a few guards out (in case of T, zapping them out), they arrived at the supposed project.

It was just like the pictures Raymond got, but...

"Why does this look like a portal from Terminator?", Ray was the first to point the obvious.

"No idea", Aiden answers, a bit annoyed.

He wasn't a fan of unpredictability. He rarely was confortable with changes in his own sense of control. And most if not every change needed to come from himself.

"See what you can find. Something like this has to be on paper", Pearce started looking for any info as he said that.

"Or floppy disks" Ray added.

"...Good point". Aiden felt old.

However, before they even started, an alarm sounds.

"Units, be advised: The facility is compromised. Security measures are increasing to level 4".

That's not good.

After a while, some... Scientists(?) came to the room. The lights are turned on. Both Fox and T-Bone manage to hide.

And here is where things get funky.

"...Sir, you know that we already have problems with activists, performing this test is going to compromise our system!", A Blume officer said worriedly to the scientist.

"AND IF WE DON'T, this company might as well declare bankruptcy" Was the fierce reply.

The Officer couldn't find a rebuke, so he complies. The scientists start working on the big computer/machine, adding some informations.

"Ain't that the Fibonacci sequence?" Ray pointed to the PC.

"Yes. And I took care of that already", Aiden said suspiciously.

The machine started making energy noises. A lot os sparks and flares. Something was going on and both of them didn't like it.

"That guy already took care of that. The Fox I mean", The auxiliary Scientist pointed out.

"Very well, let's start with the basics then. Age: 1274. Event: Mongol Invasion. Location: Tsushima Island, Japan" The auxiliary scientist said.

A sphere of energy started forming on the "Terminator" Portal section of the machine. The next scene can only be described as "Fiction Turning into True". The sphere became a "gate" to another place and another time. A small view of some plains, some Samurai and an entire fleet of ships loaded with soldiers.

"T, we need to destroy this" Aiden declared.

"You- What?!"

"If that thing is what I think it is, Blume can't have it" He said, grabbing his phone and preparing his "Blackout" App.

"And just what the fuck is that?", T grabbed his pistol.

"A time machine".

"A... w-what?", Ray said, obviously confused.

"If you saw the movie, you know Blume is the least trusted to be with it", He reasoned into the culture that Ray understood.

"Fine, let's see what you got, Fox".

Some explosives should do the trick.

Showtime.

Aiden rushed with his Px4, aiming at the head of the... well... Head Scientist, while Raymond shot the Officer previously mentioned. A quick bullet to the head was enough. He rushed to plant some charges of the explosive.

His partner however, used his "Jam Comms" App. It proved to be quite useful in most cases and this one ain't different. A shot to the leg and the scientist is incapacitated, but not dead. Using his focus, Aiden shot the other Blume Officer's almost instantly.

"Damm, he looks like that John Marston guy...", T-Bone comments from afar. "Glad he is at my side".

The room is filled with silence for a few seconds until Aiden shuts down the lights. A minute of darkness should be enough to make the tech guy talk.

Unlike any other energy based tech however, the machine never stopped working. That's odd...

T-Bone finished the charges while The Fox grabbed the auxiliary scientist that was in fetal position.

Putting the Px4 in his throat, The Fox starts his interrogation, "What is that machine?"

A tad bit convincing, if I say so myself.

"Wait wait wait! I can explain!"

"Then start", he cut the pleas of mercy.

"If I where you, I'd start. He isn't that good with setbacks" T-Bone added.

"Ok! Ok! That machine is our new project! ctOS-2.0. It's purpose is to... Ehm..."

"T-Bone, taze him" Fox ordered.

And as soon as ordered, Ray grabbed his tazer and put right in the scientist neck. Poor guy. Face to face with the most dangerous person in Chicago. He had to admit that seeing people get tazed was one of the funniest shit he's ever seen.

"What is its purpose?", Fox was quick to go back to business.

"...Oh fuck... It's to travel between facts and events that had happened before... to prevent them of happening... Shit..." He answered between grunts of pain.

"Why tho'?" T-Bone gave his own question.

"... Because Blume wanted to control not only... the future of the people but also... some events in the past..."

"Like, what, the JFK execution?" T-Bone joked.

"... Exactly"

Ok, that was messed up. Not the saving part, but the fact that Blume could, if they wanted, rewrite history as needed. How many wars couls this thing do? How many espionage can be done? The fact that this is being made in US territory is enough to start WW3.

"You're right. We need to destroy this shit", T conceded.

"You're welcome"

"What?! Destroy??? I've worked my entire life in this project!" The scientist was understandably furious at the prospect of the destruction of his craft.

But they couldn't waste time.

T-Bone was already near the exit, looking to see if the getaway was safe, while Fox was setting on the explosives. He stopped to see that the view of the, now, battlefield was still going. As it looks like, the Samurai are being massacred.

"Oi! Fox, lookou-!"

It was too late of a warning.

The scientist pushed Aiden ONTO THE PORTAL.

Aiden got up and tried ti go back, only to see the gate closing right in his face, just as the explosives did their work.

"...You gotta be kidding me".

Finished the prologue. I hope I dont just drop this. If I do, anyone can continue as you see fit.

I will try to make everything as realistic as possible, judging that this is my first actual Fanfiction, instead of a original work.

I wilk try to answer any questions you may have. See you guys later.
